I am sleeping a lot better now since trying sober September... My nightly wine that I drank to unwind and relax was actually giving me insomnia I think. I would fall asleep fast but wake up in the middle of the night. Now I am sleeping through the night.8

One drink yesterday. Stopping at one use to be so hard. It's getting easier. Success!9

After trying for over a week on this thread i put together a AF day yesterday. Slept thru the night, worked out this morning. Feel good. Day 1 in the books.10

My goal is to have only 1-2 drinks on Sunday nights. I feel pretty confident I can do it. Only time will tell.4

Today will be day 6 for me without any alcohol. This is huge for me. I think the last time I went 6 days with nothing to drink was 22 years ago when I had my hysterectomy and I was in hospital Today is somewhat of a test as usually at 4 on a Sunday my husband and I break out something to drink and sit on the patio and enjoy the last day before going back to work. The good thing is there really isn't any enticing alcohol in the house so I shouldn't have too big of a problem. Next Saturday will be a bigger test as we're attending a wedding. Have a great week everybody and hang tough!5

Today is September 10, so we are 1/3 of the way through September! Hang in there people. You are doing great!6

I had a friend text me and asked me if I was drinking and I told her no not until I have somewhere to go which is on the 23rd she just texted back oh OK she doesn't care about her health or her weight well she does but not enough to do anything about it sorry but you're not bringing me down!
Good for you! It's interesting how people react sometimes. I had a friend treat me like I had the plague when I went alcohol free for August. When she heard I wasn't drinking in September, she got weird too. I've come to realize, it says more about her than me. She has replaced me with another drinking buddy and I am okay with that While the jury is out on whether I am going to give up wine forever or just for the rest of this month, I do have health and wellness goals and wine always derails those.
EXACTLY!! All of it. Well put friend!
Very well put. We don't need sabateurs to keep us from trying to become our best selves.3 -
Today would have easily been a 4+ beer day. Two while out for lunch, more while watching football and preparing dinner. Had one pint at lunch. Had one beer watching football. Went and grabbed a club soda after. I just don't want to drink anymore.7

Got through the birthday party without a drink, but the 4 bottles of white wine on the counter were enticing. I had 4 diet pepsis and a cup of coffee. And, I had fun and enjoyed talking to people even without the buzz.7

Saturday night, DH and I out to dinner with our best friends at our neighborhood pub. They all had beers, I had iced tea. (Won't pat myself on the back too much as I never cultivated a taste for beer!) Normally, might have had a glass of wine. Next we went to a club to listen to music, husbands went to get us drinks. Before girlfriend could answer, I said, unsweetened tea or club soda. She had the same. Maybe I'm being a good example! ;-)
So far, feeling great with no cravings!8 -
Sounds like everyone got through the weekend with their goals intact, yay us!7

I had a glass of beer on Sunday, my first in 2 weeks. My husband and I shared a bottle of coffee stout that he'd been saving. At first I was hesitant to have any because I have been doing so well in abstaining, but it was only a 16 oz bottle and he had more than me so I still call that a win for myself. My ultimate goal is to be able to enjoy alcohol in moderation and not be tempted to go overboard every time I have a drink, which I feel was a success. This coming weekend my husband and I are going out of town for a short getaway weekend and we are planning to go out on Saturday to a craft beer bar and pizza joint. I'm going to try and drink slower than normal so I can pace myself and enjoy the evening more!5

I didn't do very well this weekend. Plans got cancelled on Friday night which should have made it easier to abstain, but I ended up having three beers while vegging out in front of the TV. Then had a few drinks Saturday at a concert. Not good! I think it was maybe because I knew this week leading up to Sunday's race was going to be strict, so I felt like I had to get it out of my system.
So here we go again. I plan on abstaining all week - even on Saturday, my birthday - but then allowing myself a beer post-race on Sunday. I should be able to make it to then...right??6 -
I moved not too far from a winery that makes amazing sweet wines. I'm not much of a drinker, but I've had a bottle a week now since I moved in. They are soooo good. I vow to limit myself to one glass on fun Fridays for the month of September.6

It seems there are certain activities (or lack thereof) or events that act as triggers to drink. For me, drinking led to eating - can't drink without something salty. Avoid those events. Also, for me, keeping busy helps. I'm taking a class so my empty time is spent studying.5

I had a really bad day at work today and DIDN'T buy a bottle of wine for dinner. Massive success for me, that is!12
