It was 19.5 C when I got out of class at lunch ... a heatwave! Warmest we've been in months.
Unfortunately the 87 km/h winds gives it a "feels like " temp of about 8 C.

Oh, what happened to my post. I reached over to get something and when I looked back it was gone. Oh well. Have a good night everyone.

Terry - We all have pity parties now and then. I am glad that you chose your attitude and it sounds like joy.

Rye - Putting that gift suggestion on the list for Greysyn. Thanks.

Marcelyn - How long will your marathon be?

Yvonne - "I was Country when Country wasn't cool" I really do like most music. For country a few of my favourites are Reba, Shania, Paul Brandt to name a few.

    Felicia - Feel better soon.

Day started off pretty good. Two of the grandkids came over to help me get some things accomplished and to earn some money. It was fun working with them. We did have dance breaks. They have better moves than their Grandma. Lol.

Talked to our son in Richmond. Today is the day they were telling their sons that they were splitting. I am glad that they went to a mediator and have worked some things out. The mediator gave them some tools to use when talking to the boys. My heart hurts for all of them. I will talk to Holly tomorrow. Trying my best to stay neutral and let them all know how much I love them.

Larry went off again today. So about a week. I told him I can't keep doing this. I also asked him to cancel the invitation he had made for friends to come for supper. He didn't of course. Really hard to carry on as if nothing is wrong. He was so sweet in front of them. Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. We'll see what this week brings.

Going to a funeral tomorrow. Just found out from my brother today. The mother of one of my good friends from high school. He will be travelling down from the NWT. She became a very good friend of my parents. Mike's Dad suffered from some mental/drinking problems. I remember being there when he decided to throw a butcher knife at one of the boys. She never divorced him, had 8 kids with him, paid for his funeral even though she hadn't lived with him in over 20 years. Rose went back to the old country once and was ostracized for kicking him out of the house. They farmed down the road from us.

Greysyn went out for a driving lesson from his Grandpa. They went out for about 2 hrs and you could not wipe the grin off that kid's face when they got back.

Morning, happy Monday everyone. Will be a short work week for me and I am going to schedule an appointment to see if I can get some PT for my aching wrists! Right wrist is really in pain, can't twist or turn without twinges that say call the doctor or else!

Made my red lentil soup in the IP yesterday, so delicious, I think i could eat that soup every day, well I made enough to do that this week.

Better get moving, have a good one ladies. NYKAREN

    Happy week!
Up doing the morning pills and dog letting out. Will need to bath the big one-WHY DO DOGS ROLL IN STINK? Ain't nobody gonna be happy about this.
Lots of left-overs and left-behinds in frig so they are on the menu today-chili, tuna salad, bit of steak. My big thought is to walk on treadmill for 10 minutes when we take school breaks thru the day. Either the neighbor has a visitor or the owl is still awake outside.

    Mid-September ...
In August, I ended up within the range I wanted to end up ... between my 2015 August and my 2016 August. I would have liked to get closer to my 2016 August, but a cold/flu/sinus infection kind of took me out of the game.

I see September has been a relatively low-exercise month the last two years ... ideally I'd like to improve on that and do slightly more this year. :)

    Sept 8 - 1.7 km walking (20 min) + 20 flights of stairs (16 min)
    Sept 9 - 35.6 km cycling (110 min)
    Sept 10 - 27.2 km cycling (85 min) + 2.4 km walking (24 min)
Sept 11 - 29.1 km cycling (45 min) indoors in a very energetic spin class! + 3.1 km walking (35 min)
    Sept 12 - 1.9 km walking (20 min) + 10 flights of stairs (8 min)

    Sept 13 - 4 km walking (50 min) + 16 flights of stairs (12 min)

    Sept 16 - 3 km walking (35 min)

    Sept 17 - 44.3 km cycling (135 min)

Wendy I loved your dogs! Great photo of you all!

    Felicia get better soon!

Country Music I love most types of music but draw the line at what I call sad sack, dead dog, lonesome me Country Music. For the toe tapping type of country music give me some Garth Brooks.

Barbie I love me some autumn weather too! Send some My way, will ya?

Heather I'm sorry - that is not easy. Hoping your cough is better.

/Yvonne & Becca I went skiing once. I was very happy on the bunny hill with the tow rope. Then my brother' best friend Pete (on whom I had a huge crush- I was like 14 yrs old -) saw me and decided to take me up the chair lift to the first level hill. Remember I hadn't ever been in skis before that day and I had no lessons! Anyway, because it was Pete I said yes. First the chair lift stalled. And our chair was stuck in the snow machine spray for like 30 minutes - we were covered in ice! Then it starts up and I gets to the top where I promptly fall off it and get bonked in the head. Then some out of controll falling down the hill later I actually am skiing for 20 seconds or so, but I can't steer or go the direction I want, So of course, I skied into that blasted snow machine ( surrounded by a 39 ft. Diameter ice field) and had to be rescued by Pete. Needless to say I have never tried skiing again. LOL. (In my own defense, we did not understand my dyspraxia and proprioceptive disabilities very well at the time and just thought I was an exceptionally clumsy child. - Looking back, I was awfully fortunate not to have really hurt myself! I doubt if we had understood my peculiarities that my mother would have allowed me even to go out on the bunny hill! )

Off to swim now, I hope your week starts out well today ladies!

Hi all, new (well starting myfitness pal again anyway) so no August goals to report. My rest of September (and since I work in public schools, it totally is the new year to me- in fact my birthday is the end of August, kind of when we start back, so doubly a new start) are:

Drink more (3 cups) of plain water (I do think it helps me with water retention and unless I make an effort, my liquids are coffee, soy milk, wine.)
Get to my water aerobics 2/3 times a week, walk dogs 20 minutes a day, make it to yoga class Saturdays the rest of the month.
Stay within my fat and sugar recommendations weekdays

    Monday

The usual ... work, uni, spinning class.

I walked a little longer than usual because I took a walk between classes down to the waterfront. I was planning to find a nice bench in the warmth, but the wind was so strong I couldn't stay ... and the rigging on the yachts was just screaming!

I took it a little easier in my spinning class than I did last week for a couple reasons ... 1) I'm still getting checked so I don't want to overdo it at this point, and 2) TOM came to visit after being about 10 days late and WOW the cramps! There I'd be in the middle of a sprint or something when I'd literally double up. Kinda tampered with my rhythm.

When I got home, I was planning to go into heavy duty study mode, but ended up asleep on the soft with a hot water bottle. I have managed to get up and do a bit of reading ... but will be heading to bed for real shortly.

  • Re - It's still me ... just totally 'bummed' over recent events. Feel like I am not going to be at all happy with weigh-in tomorrow. Get to the point when I know, this isn't good and I am quickly running out of money. I need to reset my goals and work towards the smaller ones and not get upset when I know that vacation is coming up and there is no way in Hello=Kitty to keep from overeating. Will bring some shakes and try NOT to snack mindlessly. I think I took the loss of the baby as hard as my kids did because it brought back all the memories of losing my first baby due to complications (that 'only' occurs if the egg is fertilized). Talked to Tami last week and she told me the 'specialist' had 'ordered' her to go to the 'lake house' to prevent 'well-meaning' friends and family from coming by and asking questions she had no answers for and probably wouldn't. Also to turn off her cellphone, other than the times when Mallory might call, no social networking, just to 'cool it' and the quicker she could the quicker she and Will could go through the grieving stage and move on to decide what they want or need to do next. I think since some of the people she told and getting the responses she did were just upsetting her and making her "Google" things and he did not want her to do that. She told me that friends and customers were bringing flowers and sending cards and it was just 'too much for her'. Some of the people they know think that IVF is going against God (or "Mother Nature"). Apparently, there is no reason they can't go through it again. It is just really 'expensive' and she wants to give Will a baby of their own; but, doesn't want to hear the 'reasons for losing it' because of the IVF, not even from her own mother and sister (who got PG at the age of 16). Niece lost a baby at 7-months that they already knew at 3-months had significant defects that meant if she did not deliver a stillborn, she would die within ages of being born. Now she is pregnant again and due any day. Might have already had it and I know that Tami's mama would be most unhappy if she did not come over and 'gush' over the baby; but, she just can't do it. Said that it had affected Will more than she ever expected it would and also her. Neither of them had ever seen the other so upset. IF they go through it again, they aren't telling anyone and if they do and she gets pregnant ... they will wait as long as they possibly can before announcing it. I still feel that God has plans for her and will 'bless her' in some manner - even 'if' it is not meant for her to have another child. Will did not marry her to 'have children', and he treats her daughter as if she were his own.

Trying out the 'magnetic' eyelashes. First round, way too stiff; sent them back, hopefully will come off PayPal account; before the most recent appears on it. Lost one 1/2 of one down the drain apparently taking them off and trying to 'separate' them. They really stuck together. Can't send them back because of the lost one. Not long enough to cover eyelid and probably might have worked better if I had trimmed the length. Hands shake so bad that they are difficult to put on. Lessons learned hard way. Oh well. Will try 'one' more, then quit. I do have mascara that works well. Most important found some eyebrow make-up that works, stays on, and is the 'right' color for me. With my hair being mostly white ... taupe and light brown just way too harsh. They suggested using blond ... perfect. It just takes longer to put on if my face is totally clean with absolutely no make-up on. I'm not blessed with eyebrows or lashes - only the color of my eyes are what one notices. Full lips; just bad to lick my lipstick off. Tami has some 'lip stain' that you also have to buy the sealer which makes it almost impossible to get off even with make-up remover. I don't know the name of it; but, the color I told her I liked came in 3 shades and she did not want to pick one and me not like it because of the expense. Did not think to ask while we were there. Even when I use 'stain' ... I still lick it off. I don't wear foundation, and haven't since my early teens when I used it to cover a birthmark. Birthmark over years has faded so that the only person who knows it is there is me, unless I get a good tan ... then it is noticeable. But, nobody has ever said anything about it - other than it makes my neck look 'dirty'. When I was a baby, Mother came in to find my Daddy scrubbing 'the dirt off my neck - or trying to'. I was screaming blood murder when she came in and told him to 'stop - it was a birthmark and would not come off'.

Allie - I know you are excited to be able to move in a little early. I can't believe that TomCat did not show up for course and hope he and his 'questionable' lawyer get the stuff up for the "Motion to Compel" ... what a 'Dickhead', hopefully the Judge will 'throw the book at him'. Make him want to grab his Johnston and bend over and kiss his @$$ 'good-bye'. I know that is mean-spirited and I am sorry. I just hate the fact that he is attempting to drag this divorce and settlement through as long as he can. I doubt that you will ever get him to comply and hopefully you don't have to 'take him back to court' if he doesn't. Hope your house in FL was spared by Irma. Just because he only has $35K of insurance on it doesn't mean that it is only worth that. If y'all have taken good care of it, even 'if' it is a mobile home, you still should have 'equity' in it. Especially if it is paid for. Didn't he go down to FL to check to find out what it was worth or was that postponed due to a death in the family? Don't worry, you don't have to answer this, it really is none of my business.

Welcome to the 'Newbies', hope most of y'all are reaching your goals, enjoying all the pictures. Will be taking my laptop with me on vacation to make sure I track everything I eat and/or drink while there. Also, to have a way to spend time playing 'mindless' games, too.

    Love to all!

It's a rainy Monday morning here, but we are dry so the rain is good. Only going to be 75 today and already the trees are turning! I can't believe where summer went!

DH's brother and sister in law are coming for court on Thursday. I thought they were going to be here either late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but they will be here tonight! ARg! Mac and cheese for them...and a new recipe! it's a diabetic friendly one with broccoli and both cheddar and cottage cheese. Hope it's good. Too bad if it's not lol.

Still nothing from my brother. I doubt he will ever come around.

All that talk about holidays....another argggggggggggg! I hate Christmas although I had been enjoying it more recently. I do like Thanksgiving. New Years is my favorite...we always have done something fun.

Well I need to get some work done if I ever can go home lol. Take care all, meg from wet Omaha

NY Karen - sorry you are having wrist pain! We don't realize how much we use our hands and wrists to hold and twist stuff until they hurt. Good luck, hope the PT helps! And red lentil soup sounds great, I'll have to find the recipe. I know I have a bag of red lentils in the freezer.

Bonnie - your plan sounds good! There are lots of gals in this group who work at schools and it's the beginning of a new year for them too. B)

Felicia - hope your migraine is better today - so frustrating tho because I'm sure you feel like the weekend was shot since you weren't feeling up to par. (((HUGS))))

Barbie - are you heading over on the ferry? Should be an exciting trip traveling in our PNW wet and stormy weather. My favorite time of year.

    Becca
    - love seeing those elk on the beach and that bread looks yummy.

Michele - thank you for the info on the Condo. Sounds like a great location and the fact you can take your kitties makes it attractive. I'd keep it.

Rye - that Origami looks like fun! Stunning photo!

    Terry
    - what a neat vacation spot! Glad you were able to spend some time in the water, sand in the swimsuit and everything, lol. Cute room!

OK ladies, I'm killing time until the vet opens at 9. Sophie has an appetite but just plain doesn't feel good and still has loose stools. Found out new puppy doesn't like the dark with cold or rain. Sissy dog.

So many folks I know are having sick dogs this past week. My BFF's little guy ended up on an IV Thurs and Fri, very sick at both ends. Friend of mine's DS had a 6 mo old German Shepherd pup which became violently ill on Saturday evening, loose stools and throwing up. He got up Sunday morning and seemed to feel OK, then became very lethargic. Mike threw him in the truck and headed for the emergency vet and the pup died on the way there.

All of these dogs were up to date on their shots.... wonder if the hot weather has stirred something up. Geeze.

OK better close. Hugs to all of you and your fur-babies.

I am up and better. Heading to work. Thanks for the well wishes.

The rainy season has arrived. I love it, but it is going to put an end to lunch hiking. I went to the campus gym on Friday and ran on the treadmill, so I may do that at lunch now. Silly to drive up there, but if it's raining . . . We will see. It's about half a mile from my office.

Rye -- your swimming mileage is inspiring. I wish I could do that.

Got to get the little guy to orchestra and myself to work.

Lanette ~ Sorry to hear about the poor pooches problems. Our Pom had a similar problem last Spring and the vet gave him meds that helped.

Rye ~ I like your collage! Very arty!

Felicia ~ Hope you make it through the day.

Michele ~ Why don't you ask Denise what she will be wearing to the dinner then you can follow.

Lisa ~ You can do this! You are a strong woman!

Plumber on his way and hope we can turn the water back on soon. There are 4 industrial fans going in the den and kitchen plus two industrial humidifiers. Another fan and humidifier are going in the basement. Wonder what the electric bill is going to be.

Felicia: It is raining right now. Our townhouse community is scheduled to be painted during the next few weeks. I sure hope it is dry enough to go forward but have to admit that rain to fight fires is a blessing. Since the first step is to wash the buildings, the rain shouldn't be an immediate problem. :star: I hope you feel better soon. Chicken soup really is a good idea for a stuffy head. (((hugs)))

Barbie: We're used to wet weather in the fall and winter, but since I joined the gym it doesn't stop me from getting the exercise I need. It doesn't even curtail horseback riding because the stable has a covered arena.

Becca: The photo of elk is lovely. I'm pretty sure that some of the residents of Gearhart have had more than enough elk sightings in their yards, neighborhoods, city streets & golf course.

Rye: Your one skiing experience is a very close match with mine. I ended up going downhill at a fast clip directly toward a tree. I had no lessons and didn't know how to turn, so I deliberately fell over. I cut my forehead with he side of the ski in the fall, but didn't end up with any scars and never went skiing again. :noway:

bonniepl: Welcome to a great group. A few of us are or were teachers. I retired from teaching several years ago. I gained weight every school year I taught and lost part of it every summer, with a general upward trend. Our principal and PSO provided sweets to the staff on a frequent enough basis to help with keeping morale and weight up. I wasn't able to get serious about losing weight until I retired. I hope you are stronger minded than I was.

Meg: I'm glad you'll have the support of DH's brother & SIL for his court date. (((HUGS)))

Lanette: Weather can affect anyone, but I wonder whether one of your neighbors is a poisoner. We had a mean old man cat poisoner in our neighborhood years ago. He killed at least three of my cats by setting poisoned meat out in his open garage. I'm sure has gone to his reward by now. We moved away from there almost 40 years ago.

We have rain! I hope it helps stop the fires in the Columbia Gorge and Cascades.

:) I am reading a book that has inspired me to try yoga again. However, I am wrestling with my reluctance to do something that requires taking off my shoes and sitting or lying down on a mat on the ground. I'll keep reading and hope that I'll have a change in attitude

:) Jake's appointment is local so the dogs walked enough for me to get 13,000 steps. Now we're in the waiting room

Hey ladies! Everyone has endured the weekend, now planting one foot in front of tha other on a Monday! Its all good!

Yesterday, no call from our boot camp son. Of he is able to call Sunday is the day he can do it. No news is good news, I'm trying to think only positive.

Well my huge bag of spinach was getting the best of me, even though I was averaging 2 cups of the stuff a meal! Also I had planned biscuits and gravy for husband, yet I had baguettes getting hard by the minute on the counter. So I asked my neighbor down the street if she wanted some! So her daughter, (and her father, because it was raining really hard so prob drove), brought me strawberries, raspberries, and a few cherry tomatoes! I gave her the bag of spinach ( minus a couple of huge handfuls for me), the pack of 2 long baguettes, and a loaf of garlic bread. Bartering System is alive and well on my street! Gotta love it!

My weight is staying constant at 240.4 for the past 3 days. I started last week at 243.6 so I am happy for the 3.2 loss. Slow and steady will get me thru this, into Onederland!

And to think that in 2009 I was there at 189 lbs! It irks me that I didn't lose it inn my head. My husband never knew I was there. This time I plan on shouting it off my rooftop!

Well, we might get our flu shot today.
    Be well everyone!

Happy birthday to the United States Air Force!

"On September 18, we commemorate the establishment of The United States Air Force. Almost from the moment the Wright brothers found a way to soar with the birds, aeronautical pursuits were incorporated into the military. However, it was not until September 18, 1947, that the US Air Force was a separate branch of the Armed Forces. The Signal Corps was the earliest established aeronautical force in the military. The first missions during the Civil War provided visional communications via flags and torch light from aerial balloons. The Signal Corps didn’t become an official branch of the Army until 1863, making way for more aeronautical training and study."

Heather - I'm so sorry your friend isn't doing well. It must be such a helpless feeling for her and everyone who loves her.

Becca - I've only been downhill skiing once, but you're right. My favorite time was sitting on the chairlift. I had a good time, but most of my it was spent sliding downhill on my face. I love shooshing through the trees... it's the only activity that ever gave me the "high" described by runners where you feel like you could keep going all day.

Lanette - Hope Sophie feels better soon! Poor pup.

I've been trying to cut down on sugar, but didn't do so well yesterday. The peanut butter banana smoothie I had for my afternoon snack amped up the sugar, and the rice pudding cup after dinner put me over the top. Still, I managed to get through the weekend with all its various challenges and stay under my calorie goal so that's something.

Had a lovely and elegant lunch, which even my brother enjoyed! But boy, was it expensive! :o:o:o I wore my red dress. B) Coming back the traffic in town was almost at a standstill and we found out the whole narrow road was blocked with fire engines. Couldn't see any smoke though.
My DSIL took a photo of my bruv and me, so I will post that when she sends it.

Fell asleep on the sofa. Trying to think what light thing to have for supper. I am quite hungry. I had mussels, followed by Indonesian fish curry. No bread or rice or dessert.

Yoga tomorrow. I hope I can get through it without a coughing fit. I am coughing less deeply and less often. :D
We are going out for dinner at the local pub in the evening tomorrow with DH 's cricket friend and his wife. I booked it last week, but failed to secure my usual table in the window. :( I usually have two starters there.
Then my Portsmouth friend wants to meet for lunch on Thursday. :D:o Haven't decided where. Got to make time to ice and decorate the FROZEN cake before Saturday.

I asked my cancer friend if I could get up to London to see her next week, but she is booked to visit friends in Wales. :noway: She seems determined to go (on the train - all booked ) , but she will review her strength at the weekend. She is taking morphine. If it is beyond her I will go up.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
