@fitoverfortymom
I am from CO!!! I miss it so much. You can fly down with my sister next weekend and come race with us on Saturday!

Added my fourth day of running and survived. I went much slower than usual so that I wouldn't run out of energy at work that day. Sundays are the absolute worst day at work. Yesterday, I had some issues and needed to sleep more than I needed to get up early and run, so I ran after work. For some reason, I thought it would be a great idea to do my long run after a long day of work when it's 20 degrees F hotter than when I usually run. It was mostly miserable, with a few okay moments. I don't have any days off until next Tuesday, so I was trying to figure out when to do my long run, which I usually do on my day off. I'm thinking next time this happens, I'll just do two short runs and see if that's any better.
As for donuts, I love the custard-filled ones. Hubby has been feeling sick lately, so of course when he's sick, he wants apple fritters. I decided to be good and eat a cheese and spinach omelet. I really want a donut, though. And to add to the sadness, I was really excited to try this mochi green tea ice cream, only to find that it tastes like soap.

Doing better now that I'm braving into my exercise calories. I neeeeeeeed them and while the scale isn't moving quickly at all, it is moving down and my happy *kitten* fit into size 10 jeans today, which is truly uncharted territory. I haven't seen that size since high school!8 -
@MNLittleFinn I love that you are tracking elevation gain in your goals now- thats more relevant to Duluth than the distance in a lot of ways imho. You go mountain goat!
@KatieJane83 it sounds like my one bout with ITBS but I am neither a doctor nor do I play one on TV. I'd get into your ortho to confirm
@PastorVincent it could have been her knees, it could be that her form is crazy lol. I have a lot of knee issues and have since my early teens, I used to walk and run really splay legged for lack of a better term.
Cold and raining this morning and it took so much effort to get myself uncuddled from our warm blooded 3 year old and out the door. Run itself was good, I run better in the cold (come on running ice in the winter!!!).
When I dropped our oldest at kindergarten this morning her principal stopped me and said, "I know this is going to sound completely crazy, but were you running near the airport at 4:30?" "Oh yeah that was probably me." "Why would you run in this?!" The desire to laugh was real y'all

9/19 - I got out at last night just after 7 and it was pitch dark by the time I was done. Dang, I'm gonna have to charge up my LED belt. I ended up turning on my cell phone flashlight so people would see the light bouncing. Anyway, I decided to walk over to a hill I used to run repeats on and instead I would walk up it and run down it. So 3 times up then the third time down I ran all the way home. So 3.6 miles total and 1.6 was running, 2 walking.
It was still 82F with high humidity at dark and then we only got down to 72 overnight and it's already a "feels like temp" of 90F out there this morning. Argh! Next cool front is early next week.
@fitoverfortymom Great job on the size 10 jeans
@navygrrl Apple fritters is exactly something my hubby would request because he was sick. LOL
@elise4270 I've peeked in the nutrition thread a few times. I will still be in weight loss mode through the holidays so splurging on holiday food is going to have to be contained this year.
@Orphia Good luck with that hill! Wait, scratch that. No luck involved. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
@PastorVincent Glad to know I'm not the only one judging random strangers running :-D I've seen some things that really make me scratch my head. Like people who don't move their arms at all, for example. And yes, people who run "like girls". LOL5 -
Look! I ran a marathon!

If anyone wants to join in and share in our nutritional support thread please pop in. Vent or come challenge us to eat a nice healthy dish of your choosing- but you gotta eat it with us. We're still feeling out how to best make of this thread so all ideas welcome.
Don't let the holiday food get the drop upswing on you this season.
But.... EEEEEGGGGG NOOOOOOGGGG is calling!

hehe. I can not help it. I am cursed with having really good observational skills and as an author, I am constantly people watching as it helps me build realistic characters in my books. Combin those two and yes I check out all the runners.
Good thing I wear wraparound Oakley sunglasses so fewer people can tell I guess! heheh1 -

My husband runs like this. I have tried for years to get him to engage his upper half. I gave up this year after he was diagnosed with spinal arthritis. Maybe that's why.0 -

I'm sure everybody has their reasons. I try to at least keep comments to myself so as not to discourage newbie runners who are paranoid people are making fun of them. Ha! I used to only run only in undeveloped subdivisions (the ones where they poured the roads but hadn't built a single house because of the housing market crash). But seriously, running is hard and if you're out there at all I APPLAUD YOU!4 -
Have you seen the elite Japanese runners? They keep their arms low with very little swing. It looks awkward, but I guess they believe it conserves energy.3

Rest day! O holy Rest Day! My left heel is SUPER tight so I brought a yoga strap to work to stretch my heels, calves and feet under my desk during calls. I am planning to get a deep tissue massage a week before my marathon after my last Hanson workouts and long run, so until then I am trying to keep this tightness at bay with foam rolling and stretching, but oh Lordy, does a massage sound amazing right about now...
But since I can't treat myself to a massage (yet), I'm leaving work a tad early to see a showing of mother! because I don't have to hurry home to go workout or go for a run. Hooray! Maybe that'll get my HR up a bit

@cburke8909 @lporter229 @MobyCarp and @JessicaMcB thanks for the feedback on the knee! I'm probably going to make an ortho appt, but give it a few days of rest to see how it does. I've been icing as well, and using my stick thingy to roll my leg, and taking ibuprofen to reduce any possible inflammation. Planning on some cross training this evening. Fingers crossed I'm able to nip this in the bud and keep moving.
Also, I am totally with @PastorVincent - egg nog is delicious!!!2 -
I am pro-pie, anti-egg nog.3
-
The real question is: eggnog hot or eggnog cold?1
-
@PatorVincent and others on the eggnog. Hood makes a Pumpkin flavored eggnog that is a must have for my holidays. It's a little too much straight out of the bottle so I thin it out with a one to one mixture of 2% milk. I'll also add a 1/4 cup of the nog to my coffee which is quite yummy.1
