One day down, thirty to go. While I am allowing myself this grace this month (birthday end of month). I am still secretly hoping for 31/31 days sober this month. I am loving staying on track.

I wpuld like to reduce my alcohol consumption. Ive got a wedding and a vaction coming up this month. I would like to keep weekdays AF. I've noticed I've been having more than usual and I make some pretty bad decisions when I've had a few.4

I'm 3 days in now, the cravings have been bad the past 2 days. So tonight I made myself a diet coke (a treat in itself) and put it in a glass that would normally be used for alcohol and added a slice of lime. Nearly hit the spot, lol.10

Here we go, team! We got this.
I did the September challenge and did pretty well the first couple of weeks but then I gave in last Thursday. Work has been pretty nuts, so I didn’t make time for the gym. And I also ate poorly the last few days of September so it’s all adding up. Ready to get that feeling back where I wake up rested and ready for the day – not something that happens when I drink.
My goal for this month is no weekday drinking, and whatever I have on the weekend has to fit within my calorie budget. The only day I might give myself a bit of grace is over Thanksgiving (in Canada, it’s this coming weekend).
So let’s do this!!

I'm in if I may.
I'm keen to try having a month off alcohol, and long term reducing the number of drinks I have so that whilst I may have a couple, I can still get up with a clear head and go for a run the next day.
@Will_Run_for_Food I like your idea of planning ahead a schedule that allows a set number of drinks - too often I've allowed myself to have drinks because it's the weekend, then before I know it the bottle is empty.
Today might be an interesting challenge, because despite it being a Monday and a school night, it's also my birthday!!!4 -
Happy birthday, @girlinahat ! If you really want to stay off booze for a month, then you can consider it giving yourself the gift of sobriety. I spent my birthday last month sober and it was one of the most special birthdays I've had in a while. Treat yourself in another way5

This weekend should be interesting. I am going out for Italian food! I love wine and I love Italian food. Will I be able to have Italian food without wine? I certainly hope so!
So far, I have done well in my eating out experiences, but I this will be a true test this weekend.

Yes!! I'm so glad i saw this! After an all too fun summer of drinking I gained a little weight and I've decided no mare margaritas for a while! #soberoctober3

Well I am working on tapering off and then to abstain. I think my body is too used to drinking, which is not beneficial. I am working on tomorrow being my first full day with nothing. Wednesday is a high stress day, so I will try hard. I am almost 1/2 way in my weight loss, so this has to change.4

Oh, it's this coming weekend I am open to ideas and suggestions! I am okay going over on my calories with lunch, but the wine will be tempting. with 70 some days behind me now of not drinking, I'd rather NOT start again. But taking it one day at a time, and trying to plan ahead.
I do know that they often like to come to the tables with wine at the Italian restaurants, so it will be true test of my willpower.

I am IN !! I haven't had any alcohol since 8/10, and my face isn't as bloated, and my weight is finally moving...I'm hoping to make October a drink free month, can't wait to see my weight results. I CAN DO IT !!5
-
I forgot yesterday was the start of October, and I had two Grapefruit Shandys lol oh boy
But today until Halloween, I'm in!4 -
Nothing tonight for me. I had my birthday meal on Saturday so tonight was just thrown together and then cake.
But I made myself a mocktail - I don't like them fact that so many non-alcoholic drinks are super sweet so trying to find some less sweet.
I mixed grapefruit juice with maple syrup, and topped up with ginger ale. Still a bit sweeter than I'd like and I'd probably try replacing the ginger ale wth soda water. It's funny because I'm usually more than happy with just tap water.3 -
I'm in for Sober(ish) October! I'm starting a six-week challenge at my gym today, and want to maximize weight loss and feel generally better (less tired, more clear-headed),especially since I also have several big work deadlines this month. I usually have ~1-2 glasses of wine at least 5 nights/week and then occasionally have much more on weekends, which often leads to poor food choices too.
This month, my goals are: (1) To not consume any alcohol on Sundays -Thursdays, (2) To limit Friday-Saturday drinks to three or less (and must fit within my calorie allowance), (3) To only drink wine (no high-calorie craft beer or cocktails, both of which I love).6 -
Buniculator. Sounds similar to my goal. I will only have 2-3 drinks on Friday and Saturday when hubby is home which will b 2/4 weekends this month5

I'm in a "no booze on school nights" group here on mfp... It helps and we could use more people if you want to join.4 -
Maybe I could change my thinking of alcohol as something I can't have to something I don't want. Right now, I still feel I'm denying myself - sort of like chocolate ice cream which only sometimes do I choose to eat rather than lima beans which I don't want and which tempt me not in the least. For now, I'll just decide not to drink during the month of October.
Instead of using the negative, try a positive. So, rather than "I can't have a drink" say to yourself (or the bartender), "I'll have a water and lime".
I was at a tailgate party (a few of them) this saturday. Somebody even handed me a beer. Instead of "No thanks" I just said "Got a bottle of water?"6 -
I'm in too. Just finished day 14 of a 30 Day NoAlcohol Challenge.6
-
Day 3 and I’m three for three on zero alcohol so far.6

Thought in my mind on whether I want to reduce or abstain - I've started my third month AF - if I have a major event coming up - a cruise or resort vacation - is it made more celebratory by clouding my mind to the people and places? "Think back to before you drank, when you were perfectly capable of enjoying all sorts of things without drinking. That enjoyment is what's still present in social situations, only now it's clouded by alcohol." Annie Grace5

Day 3! #soberoctober3 -
My son, who stopped drinking and inspired me to do the same, said that before he stopped he thought everyone drank. After he stopped he realized that many many people don't drink. I've noticed the same thing. I think I used to gravitate towards the drinking crowd at a gathering, and now I realize that there are more non-drinkers. I now get tired of the inebriated people at a party and talk with the sober ones. Interesting.5

I gave up alcohol years ago and it's great! Highly recommended.6
-
Can't recall if I posted in this thread already, but I'm in for reducing my alcohol consumption in October. I don't plan to drink this week until Saturday, when husband and I will probably go out to celebrate our anniversary, and after that I plan to keep it to once per week or so. I'm in a Biggest Loser challenge group this month; cutting back will definitely help me make progress with weight loss.4

This Nomo app is cool. I like seeing the money I am saving!3

Day One Done!4
