Oh, and I have more of this new footwear than my collection of running shoes.2

So some how my lovely children turned my do not disturb on and silenced the alarm on my phone. So I didn't get my run in this morning. I went today at lunch and did run/jog/walk intervals. It is pretty warm (82) and REALLY humid (in between rain storms) but it felt GOOOD!!!! I love days when it feels good and you can keep going.

Finally picked up my AIM packet Cool stuff. I don't do races so that's my first medal. LOL I actually ran (with walk breaks) 3 miles in 36 min last night so looks like I'll actually be able to run 5k.
Looks like I may get to run in the rain today. Crossing my fingers for the perfect rain like we had over lunch
I made sure to tell my hubby I was so proud of him for walking last night. He's been losing weight and has gotten his BP down thanks to not eating out anymore (lower sodium). I was shocked the walking was so hard for him. It's not like you'd look at him and think he couldn't walk around the block. Actually people ask him all the time if he works out because he's freakishly muscular for a desk jockey His calves were cramping really bad though. He's been off magnesium for a month and was just told to restart it so that could've been the issue.
@WhatMeRunning You're torturing me with the idea of wearing socks outside. I'd rather see you go completely barefoot than mess up your socks. LOL I have a thing about not wearing socks outside......like even on our smooth garage floor. But you do you and I'll do me. Haha!5 -
@skippygirlsmom Sounds like the coach's heart is in the right place, but he lacks experience dealing with kids.1

October goal: 70 miles
10/1: 7.7 miles
10/3: 3 miles (intervals)
It was hot again today at lunch, but I did my interval workout anyway. It will only be hotter after work and I have Girl's Night tonight with my mom and sisters so I thought it would be better to get it done early. It wasn't too bad, but it was hotter than it has been the last few days. It's surprising how quickly you stop being acclimated to the heat. I have definitely run when it was hotter and more humid. Now I'm just waiting for work to be over so I can go eat Mexican food and drink beer.
Happy Birthday @ddmom0811!
@navygrrl Sorry about the ankle! Hope you heal quickly!
Upcoming Races:
10/7/17: Old Rip 5K
10/14/17: Aim at Melanoma 5K (virtual)

I missed the first three days and 8 pages in! I took a little time to catch up!
Training continues for my half marathon this month along with lots of work related travel. My goal is to follow the training plan for the rest of the month with 119 miles total.
Our weather here in the South is still in the low 90's (F) for the high's and high 70's for the low temperature. Our cold front puts us in the high 70' s/low 60's. I will take the cold front, I have always said that I was born in the South because I do not like cold weather.
I signed up for a 10K in February 2018, this race's entry fee is only $15. One of my favorite races!
Also, when is the last day a donation can be made for the SPAM race? And can someone post the link?

10/1: 5.16km
10/2: 5.17km
10/3: 4.03km
Was supposed to be my rest day but evening plans were cancelled and I felt full of energy, so hit the gym and just took it a bit easy.
October goal - 14.36/60 kms3 -

Ok, I am in for 100 this month. The last two months have been complete flops mileage-wise, mostly because I have been busy and just dropped running off the top of the priority list, but I think I also have to admit that my hamstrings are not nearly as healed as I would like them to be. If I am ever going to be in true running shape again, I am going to need to get this issue behind me. That's why I am dropping the mileage goal a bit to focus on strength and agility. My goal is to do (almost) daily P90X3 videos and 1-2 weight sessions at the gym each week. Also going to focus on stretching, PT, foam rolling, etc. I want to run, but when I run, my legs start to hurt and I get discouraged and don't feel like running anymore. I want to want to run...you know what I mean???
Here is my month so far:
10/1- 6 miles+ doggie walking
10/2-P90X3 Total Synergystics+ doggie walking
10/3-P90X3 Agility (heading out for a run now)
Also wanted to send out a big congrats to @katharmonic and @BettyM1017 on their PRs and age group wins. Stellar racing ladies!

Thanks all. There's no visible break, which is good, but it still needs to be reviewed by the radiologist. It's sprained pretty badly, with possible torn ligaments. It's about the size of a softball right now. I had to leave my car at work because of course it's my right ankle. I'm on bed rest for a week, which sucks. My niece is going to get my car for me tomorrow.
I'm really not happy with this forced break. I was finally getting into a running groove and the weather is finally perfect.0 -

Ack! I missed what happened! Sorry to hear you are hurt.0 -
Oh no, @navygrrl, ouch!!! Hope you aren't in too much pain. Take care of yourself and try to take advantage of the enforced rest.
I ended up going to urgent care this morning because the pain in my ribs from my fall got pretty sharp (and I may have panicked a bit about the pain and it being hard to breathe). X-ray showed no fractures, but pretty badly bruised (at least that's what the PA said, not sure if you can see that on x-ray or not). Anyway, it may take a few days to weeks to heal up and it makes sense that it felt worse in the morning as lying flat makes the muscles have to work harder to raise the chest, and they get tight overnight. Plus the ibuprofen wore off. I got some kind of topical pain reliever and will keep resting, icing, and advil popping.2 -
@navygrrl @katharmonic hope you both heal up soon0

Another evening run in the final week of taper. Tonight, it was one mile easy, followed by a couple of miles at marathon pace, and then finish up with another mile easy. Overall, a simple run, but while I love the rest I'm getting in the mornings, I really don't like this heat much!
01 - 5.26
02 - 4.06
Total: 9.32 / 100 miles

10/2 water walked against the lazy river at our rec center for 50 min (including some backward walking for the glutes) + a lot of walking while coaching my son’s track/cross country team
10/3 I was doing work from 5 am to 6 am this morning so got a late start on my run and didn’t have time for warm up and cool down walking, but ran about 3 mi on gravel trails before work. Some light stretching before bedtime.
Cumulative miles: 8
Goal miles: 75
Miles to go: 674 -
So yesterday I was still pretty sore from the HM so I only did some walking and yoga. Today, my IBS is being a little *kitten* so I really can't exercise due to the abdominal pain. I've even been avoiding dairy to see if it would help with my digestive issues, but apparently no dice there.
So today is a rest day. Tomorrow is bowling, so no time for running. ACK. Three days no running. I'm gonna be so out of shape. Oh well, at least I'll get my lunch walks. Next chance to get a run will be Thursday. Oh, if only I could wake up early.....
On top of everything else, I saw my doctor today and he gave me a new medication. I'm going to start it on the weekend. I'm praying it doesn't mess me up too badly so I can get my runs in over the weekend!4 -

@Runningmischka I am with you on Tuesdays being rough this semester. For me trying to stick to a T/R weekday schedule is hard with 6 hours of lab on Tuesdays!0 -

First run of the month. It was cool after work today but not cold. Then came home to a yummy crock pot roast, cranky kids and cranky husband. My husband's uncle is currently in the ICU following a severe hemorrhagic stroke and we are waiting to find out if he will be moved to the rehabilitation floor or the palliative care floor. So that's stressful. Plus work stress. Everyone is settling down for the night so I'm hoping my husband can mellow out for a bit now.
Upcoming Races:
9/24 Heartbeat Run 10K 1:24:44 (11.1km)
1/1/18 Resolution Run 5K
8/18/18 Edmonton Marathon 10K5 -
October Running Totals (miles)
10/1 – rest day
10/2 – 5.07 easy
10/3 – 5.05 easy
October running total to date – 10.12
Nominal challenge goal: 100 miles
Real goals: Get healthy enough to run 5 days a week. Avoid re-injury. Build base.
Today's notes – Went to club practice this evening. Did a 2 mile warm up, and about 3 miles easy on the route the club uses for cross country in Cobb's Hill Park. Told Coach I wasn't going to be racing in October; he wasn't terribly happy with that, seeing as how I just missed one Masters Grand Prix event and now say I'm missing the next two. First thing out of his mouth is I need to run a cross country race in November to practice for Club Nationals in December.
We'll see. I'm willing to try cross country for the sake of the club, but I'm not thrilled about pushing to a hard race pace when I still need to ice the ankle after running. Speaking of which, the ankle feels fine right now; I'll take a rest day tomorrow even if it feels good enough to run on. Have to type stuff like this out to remind myself not to be stupid. Sometimes it even works.

Stepped out for my rain run and....it stopped. Boo! So what I ended up with was 71 degrees with 97% humidity. My asthmatic lungs freaked out. Walked .9 mile warmup, ran 2 with some breaks, walked .15 cool down. But at least I wasn't achey or crampy for the first time in a week8

Out for my regular run tonight. Kind of a sad run. I don't think I've ever seen as many suicidal toads and snakes in my entire life as I have over the past three weeks. Toads jumping across the sidewalk right in front of me as I'm running and snakes winding alongside of me and attempting to cross my path. Well after three weeks of successfully dodging reptiles and amphibians (accompanied by close calls for a sprained ankle, as well as undignified squeaks of alarm from me), I finally helped a toad find its wings tonight. Poor thing.
October 3rd - 4.03 miles
October total - 12.18/75 miles
