@Nikion901 love your idea for pictures when walking. I went out tonight, walked a mile! Took this picture, love the evening sky!qmbl76b3q3bh.jpg I wonder why the house on the left looks like it's leaning? It's not! Probably the way I was holding the camera. I'm not the best picture taker but I do love this shot.

Look at the positive you got in a walk. May I ask why you needed to stretch your legs. I ask because I was recently in a car accident and damaged my left hip, leg and sciatic nerve in my back. I am still on light duty at work and just met with the physical therapist today. I tried walking yesterday at a leisurely pace and only managed 25 minutes. I was sore but I focused on the positive of getting it done and you should do anything is better than nothing.

I have nerve impingement in my spine and hips. This makes my legs go numb when I am upright. One of the reasons why is Spinal Stenosis ... and one way to relieve the impingement on the sacral nerve from this condition is to lean forward ad the waist with your head down low, another is to place you legs far apart, one in front of the other, in a pose like the Archer in yoga. This helps to flex the muscles that cramp up. It's a condition I will eventually need to have surgery on, if I don't wait too long. It's been ongoing and progressive for over 40 years now.

Monday Check In - I went to the gym on Saturday and again today (Monday). Had good ab workouts both days. Plus I swam today. Tomorrow morning, I'm planning on swimming before work (as I set this goal for this week).

Nikion901 - Numbness in legs is not normal. May I suggest taking the spanks off -- LOL!!! Seriously, though, I wonder if you've considered consulting a doctor about leg numbness? Are shoes good? I tend to get numb hands alot and have been given certain stretches which really helped.

Well, you're the only one on this page, so rather than lose this post, I'll call it a day!!

Thanks for your concern @tdunnegan ... The numbness is a neurological issue. I get hand numbness also... especially when I hold a phone in my hand, or grip a package with my hand.

@verybusybee great job getting in some movement when you can and sticking to your calories!
@bapcarrier @Nikion901 thank you for the peek into your adventures!!
And Niki way to go getting out there and walking even though it didnt seem up to par, but par used to be not at all! kept at it, you're doing great!!
I remember when I was about 9, my diabetic grandmother(think sweet tea thats like syrup, and snack cakes are a meal type) came to spend the summer with us, and she one day started walking the walkway in from of out house, about 15 yards one way. She was barley able to do 1 lap the first day but she kept at it and was able to do many laps by the end of the summer and dropped about 15lbs!!! Its amazing how little improvements can have such big results!

Tuesday goals: so the last 4 days, I managed to walk more than 10,000 steps each day. I've never managed that before, so my goal is to walk more than 10,000 steps each day at least for the rest of the week, but hopefully I can make that a new habit. :)

    @keke48: welcome
@bapcarrier: beautiful pic of the evening sky
@verybusybee: well done with the calories and the exercise

Good morning to all of you!

So Sorry I am not around much. I am really busy at this time so I haven't read the past pages of posts.
I did however really enjoy Barb and Niki's walking photos. They are lovely. Thank you for sharing.!

Tuesday goal... is to get on track after terrible eating during pms and period. I am already on track for Wednesday's weigh in, because I was really ashamed of last week and I am going to make up for it!

And once more I want to repeat (for myself and anyone who needs to hear it) ... pms and hormones and weight fluctuation are terrible BUT they are not the end of the world. Just stay/get back on track and it all comes off again!

@bapcarrier Love your photo. Question though...if the house was not crooked, were the trees? LOL I guess what 'm saying is that if the house wasn't leaning/crooked, then the trees would be. (just teasing ya) That was a beautiful picture. Welcome @keke48 and @lil_moniQ.

Tuesday Goal is to be very mindful and have lower than my max calories this week. WI is Friday for me and then the weekend is going to be scary calorie wise. Too many events (3) only 1 of which I will have control over. Yikes!

Todays Goal to keep moving. I had planned on getting in a swim but unfortunately my SO will be working late and I have to feed the kiddos. So can't get to the pool but I will do something. Either another fitbit workout or maybe a crossfit workout. Just not supposed to be lifting weights. All of this however will come after my physical therapy appointment assuming I am not in to much pain. LOL. I am also going to try to do a no eating after 7pm goal for tonight and at least for now during the week. I have done well yesterday.

verybusybee - No eating after 7PM is huge. I'm sure it will produce great results. Go for it.

bapcarrier - Love the picture. Thanks for sharing.

I went swimming before work today!! One of my goals. And I enjoyed it. Just gonna have to do it a bit earlier.
I didn't take a deep breath 4x a day, but I did do it twice a day!! It was nice. A moment.

My Tuesday Goal is to eat right. I am aiming to meet my calorie limit. (That's rather noncommital, I realize, but I have been so way over that I guess my first step is to bring it closer to my calorie limit)

I wrote down what exercise I'm going to do every day and my goal is to follow the schedule.

Had another session with my dietician today, and she was very happy with my progress. In only 5 weeks, I lost 12.4 lbs of which 8.8 lbs was pure fat loss. And I lost just over 3 inches around my waist.

Wednesday wish: Since I'm going to visit my parents in Malta at the end of November, I wish that I could lose a total of 10% of my weight. If things continue to go as they have, I should be able to get very close to this goal.

    Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Okay, so the hormonal pms bloat is gone, now I have to knuckle down this week and see what I can do.

I have been eating more calories than I started off with, for various reasons, one of which is I do not want to screw up my metabolism by eating too little and be stuck with that forever. But in doing that I have also been less strict about what I am eating.
So for the next week I will eat between 1600 and 1700 calories but I recommit (again, sorry) to a good diet of whole food. One week of carbs under 100, higher fiber and no added sugar/treats.

    Good luck to me
and to all the people here, on your road to a better, healthier life <3<3<3

I know i lost weight this last week...but my scale reading of 000 is definitely wrong :D

I managed to do session 2 week 1 of a c25k program. Progress!

Start Weight (as of Sept. 16th): 227.8 lbs
Goal Weight (for Nov. 18th): 213.4 lbs (aiming for 1.6 lbs/week this time since I need to slow my loss a bit)

    1. Sept. 20: 226.0 lbs
    2. Sept. 27: 224.6 lbs (woo hoo!...I'm finally BELOW the Morbidly Obese category!!!).
    3. Oct. 4: 222.6 lbs (on vacation Sept 28 - Oct 4, actually weighed in Oct 5th).
    4. Oct. 11: 222.6 lbs (stalled!)
    5. Oct. 18:
    6. Oct. 25:
    7. Nov. 1:
    8. Nov. 8:
    9. Nov. 15:
    Final Weigh in: Nov. 18:

Weight -/+ this week: - 0.0 lbs (stalled this week--first I've stalled in over 6 months)
Total weight -/+ this challenge: - 5.2 lbs
Total overall weight lost so far: - 94.4 lbs

I've been working on re-adjusting my macros lately for my 2400 daily calorie allowance. My labs indicated that I'm eating more protein than I need so my dietitian recommended I decrease my protein to about 150 grams/day (I was up around 190-200 grams/day) and work on getting my carbs up closer to 240 grams/day since my insulin requirements have gotten quite low lately (only needed 3 units/day with about 190 grams/day of carbs). I'll see how things look next Wednesday before making a bit of a shift back as it might just take my body a little more (or a lot more) time to adjust to this change.

    Wednesday wishes
I wish that the beautiful aspects of fall would last a lot longer. Today's rain and tonight's wind are bringing down the leaves and it might drop into the 40's tonight. Winter is long, dark and cold here. If only it would stay nice!

Hello all! My name is Connie and I am from Tennessee. At this point, I still have at least 100 pounds to lose. I am "borderline" diabetic (have my 1st diabetic meeting tonight, YIKES!). I can't seem to keep a hold of the wagon. I just keep falling off and bouncing quite a bit. I am hoping that I come away from this meeting with a better understanding of what I need to do to get myself healthy and back on track. I got a fitbit last Christmas, but up until now it has been a really fancy watch. I have been trying to get regular with a low step goal of 6,000 a day. Once I can maintain that on a regular basis, I plan to increase the step goal until I am at least doing 10,000 a day (which is hard since I have a desk job).

Following Barney's lead, here are my stats:

    Name: Connie
    Age: 53
    Height 5' 7"
    BMI: 40.9 YIKES!

    Original start weight 285.6
1st 10% goal weight 257.2 (my lowest weight in 3 years)
    Goal by 12/27/17 249 (ideally 231; in reality 249)
    2nd 10% 231
    3rd 10% 208
    4th 10% 187
    5th 10% 168 (Goal!)

    9/6 265.4
    9/13 264.8
    9/20 263.6
9/27 264.8 (retaining fluid terribly today)
    10/4 261.2
    10/11 261.2
