I'm beginning to waver. I'm on day 11 out of no drinking, and everything was going well, I was even sleeping better. But the last couple of nights I've been struggling to sleep through the night. And starting to crave a small drink.
Thankfully I have this thread to keep me going.6 -

Don't give in! Make a mocktail or drink something fizzy! You've got this!!!1 -
I cannot recommend the book 'This Naked Mind' enough. It is very insightful into how engrained alcohol is in everyday life and helped make me realize when I don't drink I'm not missing out on anything. I am rereading again to refresh myself with it.8

Two days down so far. I'm hoping to get through the rest of the month without a drink. But my first goal is to just make it to Friday.7

After that 1 martini I got a huge headache and felt awful most of yesterday. I find that a low carb diet and drinking do not mix, ugh.
So I'm back to being alcohol free and am more motivated to stay on track.7 -
Yes, I gave in and was it worth it?? No. How about 5 minutes of fun, then it makes you depressed!!!! I am already sad over my son's passing. I don't need to add to it!!!! I am better with my diet without these drinks. I eat junk and then that makes me depressed, too. Okay new day.6

I fell down while out of town. (Ha, that rhymes.) Back at it. Currently 6 #soberdays.5

I have cut back so far in October...14 days without, then went all in on a Saturday...I used to drink everyday...so I feel it is a win!4
-
Pleased to report the craving passed and then I forgot all about it.
Having had a few days of sleeping well, I'm back to restless nights again.
keep going people - you're all doing well - for me, i don't mind having the odd drink, it's more important to me to actually be AWARE of what I'm having and to properly enjoy it, rather than just drinking because. Although I'm happy right now just not drinking at all.3 -
I've made it 12 days so far!6

It's Thirsty Thursday, what is everyone drinking tonight? La Croix Grapefruit is always my go to.3
-
Drinking Nighty Night tea. Thank you to whoever mentioned The Naked Mind! I just started listening to the audiobook and it seems to be just what I needed!2
-
Checking in. 11/12 days here. Had a large dinner tonight and for some reason when I let loose in one area like eating, it really makes me want to drink. I'm drinking a lacroix instead and will save a drink for another day.2

Hi everyone, this is the original poster of the alcohol free August, Sober September and Sober October threads. I had to delete my MFP account as I was receiving unwanted messages, and I had an unfortunate circumstance last year with an online stalker/harasser.
I wanted to sign in and just say thank you everyone for the last couple of months for your support and sharing your stories with me in this thread. I am now on 82 days without wine and will be continuing to focus on my health and wellness goals.
I just won't be active or online in this thread any longer, as I feel safer NOT participating in the forums.
I hope you will all keep up the great work, remember you are NOT alone, and continue to support one another. I'll be lurking (under another name) but not posting.
Thanks for understanding and please keep on working towards your goals!!!! I will be and I will be cheering you on (silently)

Hi, guys! I know we're halfway through October, but is it okay for me to join in on this? I really need to cut alcohol out of my life in order to get healthy and active again.7
-
@crazykatlady820 - yes, we welcome people joining at any time! There's a lot of great support on this thread.

@whitpauly for me nightmares, too. Hope Friday was good.
I didn't drink this weekend and it feels good.
Hope all is well everyone!3 -
So I had a glass of wine last night. I’m in a running activity weekend and it seemed the thing to do. But it was only one and although at first I’d happily have had more, I was also glad just to have the one.
Tonight I said no to beer. I didnt run well today so am hoping that no beer will help.
I don’t mind breaking the fast, but I want it to be worthwhile.5 -
Sleepless Friday night. Had some alcohol while watching TV - first since July. Not excessive and critical for me isn't how much, but how often. My problem had been drinking every day. Good for now and will be dry through the rest of the month.7
-
Saturday was hard! Kept fantasizing about getting drunk I think it's cuz I did my morning walk around the block and walked by my old house where I did a lot of heavy drinking, just got me thinking about it too much, the fun times with me and alcohol ended a loooong time ago so there's no use having euphoric recall, luckily I got through the thoughts and today was an absolute breeze!6
