@7lenny7 Could you take the pheasants hunting for the big cat? We have cougars/mtn lions here but I've never heard of them bothering people thankfully, well other than snatching the unsuspecting ankle bitter. Theres plenty of wild pigs for them hunt.

@karllundy lol! Sorry the wife cut into your run!

@juliet3455 I don't suppose you saw that shared in the Sin 7 group did you? I had it shared to my Facebook page several times lol.

@7lenny7 I too would be skeptical of saying it's definitely a cougar. Feline growling could just as easily be a bobcat. The cougars out at Wilmore are brave, they get sighted a lot for that kind of predator imo. Stay safe, don't be lunch!

Unintentional rest day yesterday- Ben came home from Fort Mac so we were busy (of course he leaves again on Monday). Unremarkable 29k this morning.

Good running last night. Temps were in the teens, but the wind finally relented so it felt really nice. I toured the neighborhood and looked at more Christmas lights. The houses on the far end of my subdivision are these massive 5000+ square foot homes. I usually find them kind of gaudy, but I ventured over there last night and I have to admit that the light displays on some of the houses were breathtakingly beautiful. It would have been better had it been snowing, but it was still a nice peaceful run. I also took Stella for a short run afterwards. She has had way too much pent up energy lately. On Wednesday, the neighbor girl who walks her in the afternoon was treated to a nice little scene in the family room. Apparently Stella found the new basket I had set on the bench interesting and decided to chew up its contents, which happened to be all of our Christmas cards and a Christmas book that my husband's mother had given him many years back. Now my mission is to wear her butt out so she sleeps all day instead of getting her nose into trouble.

@Bruinsgal_91- The trip to Martha's Vineyard sounds lovely. I'll bet that's a great race.

@girlinahat-I want to come run with your club!

Do not understand the treadmill hate. I run almost exclusively on it during the winter and I do not mind it at all, so long as I have something to occupy my brain while I run. Hence my current addiction to The Great British Baking Show.

I'm also a little weird in that I hate being around people, so if I can get my miles done in the comfort of my own home, all the better.

I think it's because I would much rather have terrain differentiation, hard tech, and strategic calls to occupy my mind with than an episode of Scandal. Don't get me wrong, love Scandal lol, but when I run I want to immersed in the minutia of running. I just can't get that on the misery mill.

FWIW though you are the normal one if we gauge by female I runners I know in town- they all live to binge watch shows on the mill!

We are currently redoing our basement and my husband just bought a new TV to finally replace our old console TV. It's 55 inches and has a built in Roku box and all kinds of other crap that makes it way too easy to watch anything you want. I am wondering if this is going revolutionize my feelings about the treadmill.

@Elise4270 I know everyone else is saying boo and ouch, which is probably more appropriate, but I'm going to go with YAY! because I'm glad you have a diagnosis, a solid treatment plan, and a good prognosis! When you have a persistent injury, there is nothing better than that.

I vote YAY! for the same reason. There's nothing worse than not knowing how what the problem is or what it will take to fix it. @Elise4270 has shown she's tough so I have no doubt that she'll get through this and get back on her feets and on the trail.

...And I can (re) learn the violin that's been neglected under my bed.
@Elise4270 I am so excited you finally have answers and a plan forward! Also that the recovery isn't going to be so long like before. I have to say though that when I read all the posts my immediate thought was of you playing the violin while riding the stationary bike :)

    That could happen.

I think I'm going to start on that bike ASAP, get in the habit. I should also develop a stretching routine, maybe upper body weighs... so post op will be that much easier. Should do this.

I was up coughing all night again and slept through the alarm. Busy packing my office today and all kinds of other crazy stuff, plus trying to work.

Stressful day yesterday, the woman who hit Skip has filed a claim with her insurance and because she said Skip pulled right out in front of her they are coming after my insurance company to fix her car. I talked to them for about 15 minutes and said what does the police report say "says the accident was neutral" I said what does the diagram on the report show "there is no diagram". I said oh so we are guilty because she was hit in the side by a woman who quote "honey I didn't see you until I hit you" ugh! Never a dull moment.

In my state, in that situation, the last person who could have avoided the accident is at fault. I would make a diagram and take it to court - she doesn't need an at fault accident on her insurance costs. Sorry you have to deal with this.

3 mile run today. The temperature was 30F but the wind was bitter cold. Yesterday in exercise class I rolled my ankle coming off the step. Thankfully it didn’t hurt on the run today. Just a little sore when I bend it certain ways. Also thankful there was only 2 other people in class to witness my fall!

@Teresa502 Ouch! If it makes you feel any better, my step instructor wiped out 4 different people in class on Tuesday (herself included). No serious injuries. 3 just tripped and fell, one girl rolled her ankle but was ok. Never fun, though.

It's been too damn cold for me this past week. Maybe I'm a wimp, but below 35, I just don't enjoy myself. I now have access to an old gym where I can run 2 days a week, and probably will be able to run in a different old gym 2 more days. Running laps around a basketball court is deadly boring, but at least I'm not freezing, falling on ice, or dealing with hills!

Actually, when I had some really irritating family at home there was no way I could have become a runner. My then-wife would not have tolerated that much time spent without it being focused on her.

Water under the bridge, I learned to run in cold weather the first winter after I became a runner. It's fun, as long as I'm healthy enough to run.

Not to mention names, but it sounds like the woman who hit Skip is insured by Liberty Mutual. Those scumbags negotiated an accident to be 15% my fault when a guy turned left across traffic in front of me. I wasn't aggressive enough with the initial claim, just went through State Farm because I know how to deal with them. Should have gone through the hassle of filing directly with Liberty, but I trusted that things would work out correctly.

@karllundy If you have deep butt pain, in the piriformis area, you might research DGS. The diagnostic tool is an EMG, and a special MRI t3 I think..

My case was caused by a blood vessel, I guess wrapped around somewhere, as well as 3 nerve branches tethering the sciatic nerve. My guy, Hal Martin, has publications on the matter. I'm part of his next study group... My posterior is a fascinating statistic.

So sometimes, no amount of PT and dedication to rehab will fix it.

Ha, Ha....that made me LOL! What some people will do to be "published". Quite seriously, I hope that this is the answer for you. You have dealt with a lot of injuries.

Will try to catch up with reading posts this weekend.
