@JessicaMcB - I could if I was at home, but alas traveling as I am, and the responsibilities to show up and be places (family events) is blocking that.0 -

Tomorrow I will run a 5k and make my goal for december4 -
My run today started out as maybe intervals maybe a tempo depending on how it felt... Had technology fails with a new interval app so just decided to run a tempo run but ended up turning it into intervals (by feel, HR recovery and not time) after all. Managed to get a couple down well below a 9 min pace and one even under 8 for a bit, but I could not sustain it for long. At least I know it is possible though! Followed it up with ... a good training session. Looking at going heavier - I just need to work on my grip. My hands are so stiff lately. Seeing the sports chiro tomorrow for a laser treatment on my hammie so no running. Looks like I will make my goal and maybe even a little extra!

Today's notes: Fely kind of like a wimp whe yesterday's run ended up being in warmer weather than I was expecting. Today made up for that. Air temp was -27.5F (-33c) this morning so, just about perfect for some brisk running. Assignment was 1 hour easy run. ended up running for 1:00:09 and got in just over 6.7 miles. Run felt good, though I am disappointed that I didn't have my phone. Pretty sure I had some epic eyelashes, but they al melted by the time I got to my camera.
Have a Runderful day everyone!

@shanaber I sometimes wear my yoga gloves when I am struggling with my grips. They have little gripper things. I know farmer carries help with grip strength. I don't do them enough though.0

Not much running going on for me. Week before Christmas I did two short runs of 1 and 1.5 miles. My knee seems to have healed nicely. However I don't have appropriate gear for cold weather. Tomorrow warms up to 39 so I hope to run then.6

The weather man said it was 25F/-4C with 15 mph winds when I went out this morning. I brought a new running jacket yesterday with a light fleece lining. I wore it with long tights and a tank underneath, just a tiny chilly in the arms, but otherwise felt great until I ran North or East ha ha, then the wind hit me in the face and I didn't bring anything to protect my face. I did a bit of rerouting and stayed the best I could going South and West As soon as I walked in the door Skip's coach called "did you run today" "yes I just walked in" "should I have practice at 10?" "Probably not". He knows it will be Skip, her friend Kaylee and Jake will be the only ones there - the distance runners. I said I'll tell them to run 5 on their own once I temp gets over freezing. He said yeah I think that's the good idea.
Off to read the thread I've only been on my phone so replying isn't my strong suit, I'm on the computer now...still trying to finish all my training ha ha5 -
Another 5km Nearly there and I am going to make my December challenge (most likely Saturday).
This run is so terribly hard earned. I was running like a wet blanket. It just was not a good run. Number of reasons but the number one reason is christmas food in the digestive system making me feel rather uncomfortable. At least with this run I have given it a push downward of sorts.
3 -
@dutchandkiwi I think we've all had those runs LOL
Today was plyo day. I did 3 of 4 rounds due to time constraints (I'm supposed to be working on my biz right now, just a quick pop-in). I also did regular box jumps instead of burpee box jumps because my arms are dead from yesterdays strength training. Tomorrow I run!0 -
@WandaVaughn I agree you need to come back from being ill doing whatever you feel capable of. I bet after the first run you’ll be amazed how good you feel.
@JessicaMcB I think those eyelashes might be a new fashion statement!
@Stoshew71 is out of town so the January challenge will probably be the end of the week.
@PastorVincent those are some awesome stats
@ddmom0811 I bet it’s awesome to have your girl there with you! Super job on the streak.
@shanaber what is a laser treatment on the hamstring? I don’t think I’ve heard of that. Super interval times.
@cburke8909 0 is definitely cold outside – super job on your mileage this month.
@greenolivetree glad the knee is better. Skip has a friend who is new to running, the other day she had on my tights, headband and vest when they went out to run. Her mom said it was easy to buy her stuff for Christmas this year so I got back my old Garmin, my tights, headband and my vest.
I know you all will be jealous of our Alabama snow.

@katharmonic -- Thanks for the info on the RunGo app... I already had my Boston trip in November (didn't do one of the Strava route challenges, but just enjoyed the scenery around the Charles River and only got "lost" once). However, there are often times when I would like to use that feature, so will check it out.

We packed away all our Christmas decorations and cleaned the house. My kids helped and good thing, because I almost fell down the attic stairs trying to lug a big container through the opening in the ceiling. Thankfully my daughter helped break my fall! We are both ok!
I held off running hoping it would warm up, but it didn’t. It was cold today! I wore my Christmas present- a headband to keep the forehead and ears warm. Easily the best Christmas present this year I also picked up a tech jacket for $4 from Lidl yesterday. Lidl is becoming one of my favorite places to shop!!
I swear the cold weather makes me unnaturally fast! Managed a 8:40 pace for 5 miles.

end-of-month question?
What are your goals for this next year?
Where do you want to be a year from now?
How do you see your training evolving?
My goal next year is to win the Mega Millions and be retired in a semi reasonable sized mansion by this time next year.
OK, realistic goals? hmm.... I like to be back into my old racing shape by my next HM in April and maybe get another age group win in it. That's the Oak Barrel Half Marathon at the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, TN. I got a 3rd place AG win there 2 years ago, and they gave me as an award half of the top of one of their used barrels.
How do I see my training evolving? Well? I, for the first time in months may come close to making goal this month. So we will see if that keeps up.8 -
We packed away all our Christmas decorations and cleaned the house.
@zdyb23456 if I had a dollar for every time I fell out of the attic I'd be rich. Glad you both are ok. Great buy on the jacket and awesome pace.0 -
@RunsOnEspresso - I have gloves that I wear when I lift with suede on the palms and fingers but this is more my hands getting tired and are stiff. I have a contracture disease that overtime limits the range of motion in my fingers and when it flairs up they get really stiff. Unfortunately the things we would normally do to increase range of motion and even lifting itself, actually cause it to get worse so I usually just do squeezes with different types of balls made for that.
@hjeppley - Beautiful picture!
@skippygirlsmom - the laser treatments are a way to increase blood flow to an injured area to increase healing. I had it done on my PF too, years ago with great results. The sports chiro did that and some other treatments with vibrations that really loosen up tight muscles. He did targeted vibration last time I was there on my hip and hamstring and it made a huge difference in the pain. This time the laser and some stretching made it a bit sore and the targeted and general vibration helps to keep the hamstring from tightening up along with the supporting muscles in my hip and glute.
@zdyb23456 - I am glad you and your daughter are ok after that fall! Isn't Lidl a grocery store?
I am taking a rest day today. Couldn't run today after seeing the doctor anyways so it worked out. He said I can run again tomorrow just to keep it easy and short... I see everyone running in cold cold weather and no one wants to hear me complain but it is going to be in the 80s again here for the next few days. I really just want it to stay below 70. I hate running when it gets much over 75, I will do it but Hobbes the Vizsla has to sit it out.3 -
@shanaber that sounds interesting I hope it helps.0
