Reached my goal weight twice this year... received the celebratory my fitness pal message. Will adjust it as I get to my next goal.

Ugh, this week is not going well. I’m doing the opposite of what I want to do—I’m eating even more unplanned food than last week on vacation and the holidays. I’m not even measuring because I don’t want to know or don’t care. I’m mindlessly nibbling off my kids’ plates, while I’m cooking, and when I’m not even hungry. Why is it that when it’s time to tighten up on logging, my other self rebels and tries to do the exact opposite?

Pull out some old progress pics to help yourself refocus !

I second this advice. I was feeling very "plump" the other day even though I'm at my lowest adult weight ever after eating "whatever" for weeks. I got my "before" photos out - and now I don't feel "plump". Nothing like looking at yourself with an extra 50lbs to remind yourself how far you have come and that "that girl" is the past.

@kalchthaleri NO! I hated being fat!!! Sometimes I wake up and don't want to exercise and just be "normal", then I remember how much being fat was uncomfortable, hurt and I couldn't do anything I wanted so I go for a run or hop onto the elliptical or plug in an exercise video and chase away the blues. I am here if you need a shoulder! Don't give up! It really is worth it, I promise! P.S. You are doing great!

Same here, hated it! I wish I was my weight now 10 years ago. I feel like I missed out on a LOT of things, lots of experiences and chances were lost. Now I'm trying to make up for them where I can.

@kalchthaleri you are doing amazingly I agree with @mk2fit . I don't know what your goals are, but at one point I didn't mind being a little heavier just because I just needed the extra indulgences. If that is what you mean by being happier.

    Total Weight lost: ~20lbs
Time it took to lose: ~4months
How long in maintenance: 11 months
    Maintenance weight range: 110-115lbs

Average weight from January to September: 112.05 lbs
    Average for October: 109.1 lbs

    Week of...
    1 December: 109.2 lbs
    8 December: 110.6 lbs

    22 December: 109.7 lbs
    29 December: 112.3 lbs

    Dec average: 110.4 lbs

Successes/struggles: Last weigh-in of the year! As expected, I did end up back in maintenance range thanks to all the holiday food! Thankfully, I haven't overdone it (yet- there's still NYE tomorrow) and I didn't gain too much. This is also quite a big deal because it will now have been a year since being in maintenance, so I hope I can keep it up in 2018. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

How long in maintenance: 1 year, 2 month
    Maintenance weight range: 117 - 123

Only started on Happy Scale in August - using the average weight recorded on the last day of each month below.

Average weight recorded from August: 118.6
Average weight recorded from September: 121.1
Average weight recorded from October: 118.4
Average weight recorded from November: 121.2

Moving Average at end of week ...
    2nd December: 121.0
    9th December: 120.6
    16th December: 120.2
    23rd December: 119.1
    30th December: 117.6

Success/struggles of the week: Huh... I was really not expecting to close out the month 3.5lbs down on average - I’ll fix that tomorrow at the Rodizios all you can eat buffet to celebrate NYE tomorrow!

This is my first month posting in this weekly check in thread and this group really had me feeling accountable - but not in a high pressured way. I’ll consider that a big success! Another tool in my kit. Thanks all!

Another personal success - I bought a new car to replace my totaled Prius: a 2018 Toyota RAV4 hybrid. Snow won’t change my plans to head to the YMCA for my training today!

I have some bad news and challenges, too... but I’m not going to focus on those right now. Today’s going to be a great day!

    Avg 3 Dec - 9 Dec 99.1
    Avg 10 Dec - 16 Dec 98.9
Avg 17 Dec - 23 Dec 98.4 (Happy Scale moving avg is 98.8)
    Avg 24 Dec - 30 Dec 97.7

Success/struggles of the week/month: Apparently even with not working out much due to injury and weather, I need to continue to INCREASE my calories. Interesting. I feel fine but I need to stabilize and add a little more. Now I know I could add it all in water weight in one big binge or two, but I want to learn to do this the right way so for next week I will continue to add from 1850 daily up to 2000 daily. This is new to me but I guess it's all part of maintenance, learning to make adjustments and just keep track. Happy New Year everyone. I hope to start talking about "how long in maintenance" in MONTHS soon instead of weeks. It really helps me to read everyone's posts. thank you ALL for sharing your journey with us.

Glad you clarified the year, @CoachJen71 - I was so confused! lol

    30th December: 117.6

Success/struggles of the week: well, I would have never thought that my average weight would be down 3.4 lbs at the end of a month like this month was... between holiday events, the car accident and subsequent new car purchase, a sudden death in my social circle, tough end of year work negotiations, and trying to make time to plan a vacation for next month, I am shocked I didn’t eat all my feelings.... especially since I didn’t have as much time to run or otherwise exercise as I normally would.

This accountability group has been awesome. Another tool in the tool box for a healthier self. Thanks for all the love this month, everyone! Happy New Year! Check in with you all on Jan 6th in the new thread!

    24th December: 117
    31st December: 117.8

    Successes/struggles of the week:
Earlier this week I was greatly encouraged by many of your posts to stick to the plan and give it time to allow salty, indulgent food choices from holidays and vacation to fall off. Weekdays, like this last one, are wonderful because it’s simple for me to sprint through the day and have lots of activities to keep my mind occupied. I finish with a hearty dinner and snacks, and go to bed very satisfied.

Weekends are hard, though. There’s just no doubt about it—the more I’m staring in the face of food, the more I eat it. We went to a buffet and I did well—had shrimp and broccoli—but it was salty so had a bump up on the scale. This demoralized me a bit even though I know it’s just sodium. Then I made a rich, salty soup for dinner and that also bumped me up. (Side note: this always happens to me with soup. I don’t like soup so I have to salt it like crazy to make it palatable.) Also, I didn’t weight or measure my dinner since we had company. So I’m up a little more today. The average trend over the last month is up just a pound and a half, but I don’t like it, lol. I need to not worry about the times when I can’t accurately log and focus on being accurate the 90% time when I can. No excuses, no feeling sorry for myself.

Some suggested looking back at old pictures and I did that, realizing that I’ve been fortunate to always have been a healthy weight with some fluctuations. I can give myself credit for managing to stay healthy before, during and after my pregnancies. That’s good!

Going to run outside now, even though it’s 13 degrees and windy. I know I’ll feel better once I get moving in the right direction. Sunshine and fresh air for the win!
