Hi Gals,
Barbie – do we have the same Mom? Mine irons sheet and underpants too!!!!
Welcome to all newbies!!!
Someone said they had trouble letting go of memory items… so with a few of the things that fit in my category of “don’t like, but have sentimental ties” I started a few pages for my family scrapbook – One or more good pictures of the item, then the story, then where I passed it on to ie: donated to xyz, gave it to ____ or sold and made $$. Knowing that I will fit those pages in with my mom or dad’s family story – an example - A hideous pink metal plate it was about 24 inches across and had a sailing ship in a storm imprinted into it… It was a wedding gift for my folks, when my mom doing clutter control she gave it to me, what the ??? any way I wrote up the story, took the pictures, and got it appraised well tried to get appraised – it was a dime store item (mom was surprised, she figured anything that ugly must be worth something) and donated it to a charity shop. Works for me… not right for everyone, but I know I don’t have kids to leave the clutter to, so my god kids and nephew or friends will get stuck with the clutter.

I am checking in this week. I am down 2 lbs this week, so a total loss of 24 lbs. My sweet dog ripped her nail again so back to the vet and more rest again. It will be weeks till we can play agility. My calendar is so empty now. I would normally play agility with her 3 or 4 times a week, with classes or a trial.
I see we are talking about folding sheets. I will confess, I wash the sheets and put the same ones back on the bed. Then I do not have to fold. I think the camper sheets are in a jumble in my closet, clean but not folded. I have one new pair of sheets still in the bag. I really hate to fold, Iron, sorry I just would not do that.4 -

Thanks everyone for all the music suggestions. I will be going through them.

My food scale has batteries again!! I'm back in business.
This week will be a little bit strange for eating because I'm going to uni every day, and I've also got that 10K on the weekend ... but I should be able to get back on track in the middle of next week.
In 2015, I lost 25 kg (55 lbs) by doing the following:
I entered my details into MFP.
I selected sedentary as my activity level.
MFP gave me a calorie number to eat.
Plus I eat a portion of my exercise calories back.
In order to ensure that I was eating the correct number of calories, I weighed most of my food ... right down to putting a piece of bread on the scale and weighing it, then taring the amount, and then adding exactly one serving of honey for my evening snack. I was absolutely meticulous.
For 10 days nothing happened, and then it all started coming off.
I've put a little bit of it back on again, and I'd actually like to drop lower than where I ended up in 2015 anyway, so next week, I'll start to weigh and log my food meticulously again.

Sunday -- busy exercise day! First I went out for a run where I explored various trails and ran along the beach. Next I went for a bicycle ride to stretch things out a bit.
Run
Distance: 10.7 km
Ride
Distance: 21.4 km
That ^^ was yesterday ... today ... my legs are dead! I managed to walk 8.5 km, but that was it. We debated about walking down to the beach, but ... no. Not today.
I was sort of thinking of running tomorrow, but I think I'll leave it for another day.

I finished making my list of 18 things to do in 2018. Several of them will take all year, some will take an hour, and the others are somewhere in between. Now I'll put the list on the computer and print a copy to put where I can see it. I have already started several of them.
Barbie from drizzly NW Washington
That's similar to what I do.
I've got the highlights of my list here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Machka9/view/goals-for-2018-944264 but I've got the whole, detailed list on the computer and I refer to it every few days.
I do the main things, and sort of chip away at the less important stuff.

Heather - I sometimes go through my old photos. Larry does not share my enthusiasm for the most part. I have a photo from my Mom and Dad that I don't even know who it is. I keep it because it makes me smile when I remember my Aunt's response when asked about it.
Your poor DH. It must feel like he has been rejected 2x. First she gives him away and then she doesn't want to meet him. I am glad that he has a good adoptive family.
Evie in Buffalo Grove - We can do this together. The ladies are such a wonderful support system.
Pip - What a Streak! I am always amazed by you and by Lillian. She is into curling season now.
Cathy - Looks like you are doing great with weight loss. Congratulations.
Yesterday I go to spend some time with Jheri. It was some much needed Mom/daughter time. We shopped, we laughed, we talked, we coffeed. I did run out of energy (it frustrates me so bad when this body gives out). I was glad for the invitation to supper at her house. Larry took Greysyn off to the new Star Wars movie. I coloured and cuddled with Keira. She requested one of "Her" stories for bed. As I tell the story she corrects it to exactly how she wants it. Apparently "We are going to be friends until you die" Ryan (DSIL) told her that she shouldn't say that. She says "Why not? It's true. Grandma will die some time but it shouldn't be for a very long time because she has to see me graduate and get married and be famous" Oh, how I love that girl.
I was busy today. Baking, cooking, recycling, going to a movie, doing my Spanish duolingo. I planned on going to church today but found myself still in pjs at 1. I decided to read my Bible instead. I phoned a long time friend for her birthday today. She was very excited to talk and talk we did for almost 2 hrs. Note to self - more calls and visits. I didn't know what to say when she told me that they had bought a 5th wheel and were looking forward to camping. Maybe with us. I haven't shared with her what is happening and today wasn't the day. Will camping be in my future this summer? I guess we will have to see.
Good night world.

I can listen to music when I run on the treadmill, but not on the road. Too dizzy!
However, when I'm on the treadmill, I grabbed a collection of choices from my husband ...
Tina Turner - The Best
Little River Band - Playing to Win
Angry Anderson - Bound for Glory
Mark Williams - Show No Mercy
Quiet Rio - Winners Take All
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
Jefferson Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia
and others.

This page goes very quickly! You ladies have clearly been friends for a very long time! Love that you share ideas beyond the weight loss "world" :-)
We have a prediction of "freezing rain" tonight to go on top of our 18" of snow; I envy my best friend in Tucson who is basking in the 70's, and I'm beginning to think that the "snowbirds" have the right idea!
Foodwise the weekend was less than stellar- homemade pizza and leftover Christmas cookies to counter the sub-zero temperatures. But I continued to log and will be more zealous this week!
Happy Monday everyone!

Today (Monday) was a bit of a whirlwind!
I was up really early (for me) to get the bus into town and then to walk to the university ... and arrived really early for my lecture. I'll go in a little bit later tomorrow. I did have time to pick up a huge black coffee ... and I needed every drop for that lecture. 3 hours!!
Then I had some errands to run & lunch to eat ... and a quiz to study for. The course is set up so that we have a lecture in the mornings and after our break we immediately have a quiz. And then we go into our tutorials and have to submit our work on the tutorials for marks at the end of the tutorial.
It's intense!
When got home, I made dinner, did laundry, and downloaded the data analysis software we're using for this course on my two computers and have got it going on both. One I will take with me to the university tomorrow so I can work on this stuff during my break.
I have some cycling club stuff I really wanted to get to this evening, but it just didn't happen!
I didn't sleep well last night ... probably a bit nervous about all this, plus it was warm and humid which is a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately tonight is cooler and I'm tired, so I'm hoping I'll sleep better. And I must start heading that direction now!
Oh ... I had more than enough food with me: banana, apple, several different granola bars, tuna and crackers, cheese and crackers ... I didn't eat it all.

Greetings Ladies - I had a good weekend. I was hungry all day yesterday and snacked my way through the evening (stayed within my cals, but goodness I ate a lot of crap). I was down a lb this morning and I will take it. For the longest time, the hubs and I would stop and get a diet beverage on the weekends (both days) while we were out running errands. I wasn't losing much if any weight over the weekends. I finally connected the extra diet beverage (I have a diet pepsi in the morning, I'm not a coffee drinker) to not losing. When I switched it up and got iced tea instead, I started losing on the weekends again. That is the only change I made. I think my body just doesn't like the extra carbonation or something.
As for sheets, I'm with Cathy, I wash them and put them back on. I have an extra set that are folded and in my linen closet, but I just wash them and put them back on until they are ready for the rag bin and then get the "new" ones out of the linen cabinet. I do the same thing with my towels, I wash them and hang them back in the bathroom. I have extras in the linen cabinet, but don't use them either.
Sharon - so glad you got to spend time with your daughter. Your grandkids sound great! I love hearing stories about them.
Terry - love the jewelry and your creativity. I have not one crafty bone in my body. I can organize you to the nth degree, but I can't craft to save my life.
Machka - Hope school went well today for you.
Have a great week ladies! Hugs to those that need them!

I usually can't wash mine and put them back on ... they'd be wet!!
We don't have a dryer, dryers aren't really a thing here in Australia. So we line dry everything. If I get a really good sheet drying day, I can have them in by the end of the day, but sometimes they stay out overnight ... other times they have to come in and get draped over an indoor drying rack.
Edit - and see my post above yours for how my day went. Thanks for asking!!

I'm taking my walking friend to the hospital this morning for a short stay medical procedure. I'll stay til it's over then drive her home. My backpack is packed with snacks, water, and knitting. I have ear buds so I can listen to an audio book while I walk for awhile and an e book to read if I have to sit while I wait.

I need to kvetch for a second. Nothing to be done, no one needs pay attention but: ARGH.
I worked the Friday and Sat before New Years b/c I had traded a non holiday weekend for the holiday one so my younger co-workers (B&C) could enjoy. I am so nice.
I worked double shifts Tues - thurs b/c D’s sister was in hospital and she was staying home with Mom. I worked double shift Friday b/c B had arranged with me ( weeks ago) so she could go out of town to be with her sister at adoption hearing. I was scheduled (regularly) for Saturday shift. (Sat shift is always a double shift, btw. So that is 7 double shift days in a row.
Last night I get the text from C. He has a fever and will I cover his shift. Couldn’t say no, his fever is down but still above 100.
Double shift means no lunch/dinner and no breaks at all - just a solid 7.5 to 8.5 hours unrelieved. And the pay is really really not good.
I’m tired and wanted to sleep late today. But I have to get going because I have to be st work by 12:30. I will get home about 8:30, take a bath and go to bed.
And next week B’s out on vacation...9 -
Rye, I'm sorry but sounds as if they are taking advantage. You have every right to say no. You can do so sweetly and, firmly but you CAN do it. (((Hugs)))

Thanks. If this were to continue. Yeah I would think that. But these were pre scheduled trades or genuine emergencies ( D’s sister was taken to hospital in ambulance) or as today sickness ( which is going around). Bad timing more than being taken advantage of, I think.
I’m scheduled to have Friday off and one of the others is scheduled to do the Sat shift. That should give me a nice long recuperative time off. I’m hoping ...6 -
Running songs:
Lose yourself- Eminem
Pump it- Black Eyed Peas
Hollaback Girl- No Doubt
Rich Girl- No Doubt/Gwen Stefani
Viva la vida- Coldplay

Will add more later. I am back to work and didn't manage my time well enough this morning to get on earlier! Yikes!

Rye I have some 1 minute actions that help me stay centered on days when there will be no breaks. It may sound unbelievable to some people that there are actually jobs that don't have coffee & lunch breaks, but mine is one, and apparently yours is, too. Because the official shift length is 7 hours, we are not offered or expected to take breaks. My one minute sanity savers include: stepping outside for 30-45 seconds. Locking the door to the bathroom and standing there for 1 minute. Slugging down a protein shake with my eyes closed. Looking at a photo of my grandchildren for 30 seconds. Mentally calculating the amount of time I have left until retirement (LOL). If I have 3 or 4 minutes, I put in my EarPods and listen to a favorite song. (Rarely happens). (((Hugs)))

Evie in IL - Welcome! It's nice to see a neighbor in here. I work in EGV although I live a little closer to Chicago.
Betsy - so happy for you! What a lovely story.
It was above freezing yesterday - a veritable heat wave - so I took the opportunity to take down the Christmas tree and do a mountain of laundry. (Translation: It's cold in the basement laundry room so I don't like doing laundry when it's cold.) I also went shopping and am planning my weekly menu around healthier choices. I find that when I plan my menu in advance I'm less likely to cheat. My biggest downfall is snacks, so I portioned out chips and salsa into serving sizes so I can grab and go.
Today's breakfast is Greek yogurt with protein enriched granola. For lunch, I have a chicken salad wrap made with crockpot shredded chicken and Greek yogurt instead of mayo, and a side of carrot and cucumber slices. For dinner, I'm planning flounder fillet and a big salad. My long term plan for work lunches is to make use of the bento boxes I purchased last year (and never used). Sushi is not out of the question. Ideas are welcome. I'm crazy busy this week with year end close so I'm trying to bring my lunch every day anyway. It's funny how work this time is actually helping me stick to my goals.
This is my last week with the minions home from college so I'm taking advantage of them being home to get stuff done around the house. It's never been cleaner!

pip Yay mom! Funny, I fold the towels the way my bio mom did, without knowing it, not the way Mama did. Stopped ironing sheets, pillowcases when I moved out. . . and most clothes when I retired 2115 days? Yay YOU! Great idea suiting music to your pace. Is there an internet site you can search for songs based on beat/counts per min?
Katla Sorry for the DD/checked bag emotion. Couragia. How would you and she feel if the airline did loose or damage the things she wanted the children to have? Or is there something else going on with DD? Tears and angst seem a little extreme, especially since you offered to help with shipping cost.
Wendy feeling hopeful "instead of feeling hungover and fat" Yay! Galloping bareback sounds like a real spirit lift for you too!
Evie VI your mother and mine, both working gals, and particular about cleaning. Same result here, dust and clutter piling up.
Becca you are making me hunger for yoghurt! (My fave is Fage, I add my own honey or fruit.) Not letting myself buy any til I've eaten down the freezer a bit. Love your humor... "perfect response" amen Sister!
Rita what IS it with men who can't see dirt in the corners or on the edges of the floor? You're right about not stressing tho', I try to keep a grateful attitude, at least he's doing something... ;}
Heather Olly Murs "Dance with Me Tonight"
Joyce you must be so proud of Ellie! Freezing rain? Keep safe and warm.
Ginger Another good day indeed! Only 295 DVDs? DH has a 5 drawer chest crammed with DVDs, along with 2 or 3 skinny disk holding shelves. THe shelves are in the bedroom but fortunately the chest of drawers is in the mancave section of the garage. It makes him happy and doesn't get in my way sooo..
Rats, snoozed the timer and still have 2 pages to go.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOGI!! Are we having a birthday party for him today? For some reason I think every day is a party for the pups at Pip's and Kirby's house!
Karen in VA - I'm reading something right now in the "Back in Control" book about mindfulness - your little breaks remind me a lot of what he says about redirecting thoughts to reduce stress. What's your bladder capacity by the way? LOL! I swear, the dispatchers I used to work with could hold a gallon!
Looks like a good day here to get a walk in when the sun comes up. Might even see a few rays!
Welcome newbies, I am enjoying getting to know you and your lives, even your weather. Keep posting!
Have a great Monday everyone! Hope the welcome thaw gets here quickly!

Rita, you are my twin! My house is livable. Anyone who comes to see me in my home knows what to expect. The most sweeping that is done is around the litter box and that is only because I don't like walking on dirty kitty litter and trading it all over the house.

If we get ti Indiana in our travels, I’ll have to look you up!3
