didn't go shopping and just loafed all day...stuffing my face with comfort foods. it's like since the scale isn't working, the binger took over. chips n salsa, mac n cheese, cookies, popcorn, candy. I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but when I eat too many carbs/sugars, my eyes get like this film over them, feel sticky and itchy. I gotta find my way back...start logging my food again. so looking forward to exercising again, sweating and feeling energetic...plus toning! it's necessary and up to me!
Angie....just make sure you are eating enuf. I still think my wt loss plateau's are from eating too few. I know I have damaged my metabolism too. I'm aiming for 1600-1800 now, more towards 1800. I don't know if you use a heart rate monitor, but I think they are more accurate than MFP. If you've been hungry during the past month and all the exercise you are doing...it's possible you are under. I think you are doing great with your routine...especially having the boys to care for. GOOD JOB! I'm looking forward to meeting you too!
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend! :flowerforyou:0 -
Morning Pepper's,
Kelly my sugar was going really high and then really low and this was after my doctor put me on meds. He never had me testing so I had no idea it was dipping like that but then going really high. So my MIL gave me this book and I got a monitor to keep track. The book is called Diabeties 2 Complete Food Management Program by Sherri Shafe, R.D., CDE and I am about half way throught the book and she makes it really easy to follow and I am understanding now that certain foods have been dropping my sugar and others making it go really high, So I have been testing foods and they test the sugar a couple of hours later. A lot of the things in the book I already know but it is worded so easy to understand and i just have been trying different things but can still have some of the foods that I love. I really dont crave as much bad foods. Between the information I learned from this book and testing things are working but it was not right away. The shakes helped too. It gives me the vitamins and its not like slimfast it is just something I am having with breakfast for nutrition. Will be working other things into it. I am not eating exercise calories unless I do a lot of exercise. keeping to the 1400 a day they give me. Do what ever works right.
I am glad you and Jacque are getting better and I would read this book I can send it too you guys when i finish if you want.
Take it slow and first get your food under control then add little exercise that how I am trying it now. I found a couple of foods I wont eat now because they spike my sugar. it was up to 243 one morning and I really was upset. But feeling better. You will get there just find out what works for you.
Well rainging here will do laundry and some indoor cleanting today. Also going to start some low stretching and weight exercise. Wont burn much but will start building muscle. Have a great day. Talke tomorrow.0 -
Kelly- Thank you for updating the chart. Not eating enough has never been a problem for me even when I exercise a lot. I love food!
Sindy- I think I will pass the book name along to my mom. She recently has had problem with her sugar. Thank you for sharing.
I hope you are having a great Sunday!0 -
well, today has been good. I kept busy working in the house for at least 4 hrs. all my food is logged and need to eat at least 300 more. water is 12+. had a yummy chicken egg roll for supper. probably not too healthy, but one of those 'moderation' items. now...to get up and do it all over again tomorrow!0

Ok, so my practice painting using my garage walls is as follows:
Note -- using all returned/unused paint from Lowes. So nothing is full price.
One wall has a $10 for a gallon of off white/tan for the first painting attempt -- ok
The door leading to the backyard -- painted the garage inside side of the door -- $5 (originally $15+) for a small can of turquioise
The wall which has the main garage doors (2 seperate doors) -- $5 (orginally $37+) for a gallon of what I thought was red. Opened the can -- it's HOT PINK. OMG... is all I can say. What I learned from this painting attempt is stick to lighter colors. It was hard to get the Hot pink shading correct. But heck it's the garage.
The other comment regarding the door color & the hot pink is my garage is girlie now. It's not a man cave anymore.
Now I need to replace a ripped piece of wall & replace moulding (thanks to a previous dog) for one wall.
I am pleased with how the door came out. I also took off the metal grates and broken blinds the previous owner had on the door. Then washed the door. Oh what a difference that made.
So there's 2 walls left to paint w/returned/unused paint. Who knows what colors I will be able to purchase. Heck at these prices, I don't care.0 -
Barb....I don't know 100% how you are taking this "practice" run with painting...but it made me giggle. so you now have a bright, cheery, happy place for *Plum* to be. that's what I love about painting, oh..the possibilities!! My friend, you have created a piece of "art". I say get a black marker or, even some paint and add some *thoughtful words* to each colored section..by the way, did you do each wall...the whole wall? would love to see a pic of this! Oh, and I sense confidence in your message! you're getting there! proud of YOU!! you made me SMILE!!0

Just wanted to say HI before I go to bed. It has been a long day and 4:30 comes really fast in the morning. I have been doing good with eating more veggies and logging my food. Hopefully I will see nice results on Friday. Well off to bed I go. Good night!0
-
I did the whole wall... each a different color.....
Yesterday at Lowes I got 2 more cans of $5 reject/return paint -- pale purple & dark purple. Oh my....
The light tan wall is where Plum will sit.... the passenger side is the painted wall. On that wall, I will put up cork boards. The cork boards will have the car show "memories" -- dash plaques, show programs, pictures, etc....
And with these colors -- no man will even think of putting his tools in my garage.
I also got some pernninals, containers, solar lights, and storage shelf.
Now if all the plants I put in containers take, I will have one heck of a flowering yard. The solar lights look good. Now, the garage is neat, organized. Next is the shed after all of Dave's stuff gets out (either by him or by me). After the shed is organized then I'll paint the exterior.0 -
I took Tanner to work this am, shopped ALL day....we have a wedding to go to Saturday, and I was hoping to get a new dress. not happening. WOW. I don't think I have **ever** been this flabby since I ever started exercising, I mean really exercising with effort...and that would be back in '02. ok, bout 10 years. the other day I was at my mom and dad's and my mom says..'what is wrong with your arm?' and I look to what she is talking about and it is like a couple dimples in my outer bicep area. very noticeable. so I don't have them on my rear, but on my arms. ick. it's has been on my mind..ever since. I am bummed. I shopped at stores I never go to and saw the cutest/fun clothes. can a 45 year old wear cute and fun? I wished...I hoped. so, soooo not happening. I have lots of work to do if I am gonna change what I see. lots of hard work.
I picked Tanner up after work, and we went to the DOT. His 180 days ended yesterday and he can DRIVE again! YAY!! He is happy. I am happy! Lots of freedom being felt....he went to wash his car and put gas in it.
and....I got myself a battery for the scale. eating has been better the last 2 days and water is good too.
my supervisor called me today and informed me I am getting the 2nd newest bus!! it has air brakes, so that will be a first. if I remember right, it has higher seats..and will be harder to see the little kiddos...and what their up to! I can't believe school starts in 1 week. we have a meeting Thursday and I will find out my route then, and call all the families. the last 2 days I have been getting up earlier... getting back into my 'school routine' mode. gosh, it has been 5+ mos!!
another trip to the city tomorrow. I see my gyno surgeon. the last few days I've had pms/cycle symptoms. I guess if this is how it's gonna be I'm shouting victory! usual water retention, the girls are heavy, cramping and lower back pain. oh, my face is broke out more than normal...and very tired right now.
gonna get some supper and then take my doggies out to play! the heat and humidity left today. I pray that you all get some better weather too...and soon. take care friends! love ya all0 -
Kelly I grasp the cute/fun clothes and say the same thing to myself.... I don't want to wear old lady clothes either... so finding that a style that is classic yet hip, stylish and not trashy or more geared for younger women.
So glad to hear Tanner can drive again... it's been a long 180 days for you.
Yeah for the newer bus. Enjoy.
Talk to you all soon...0 -
hi team...very tired. didn't sleep well last nite. guess what? it happened. TOM is here...I was so upset I cried. glad to see surgeon today and get some answers. all that stuff I read earlier, even before my surgery and yes, Dr did mention it, but said the chances were very low. I'm the very low chance. she still seemed to think it was post surgery...normal. but I have to go back in 3-4 mos. and if it gets worse or lasts longer than 1-2 days, she wants to take my C. I dunno. 3 surgeries in 1 year. please...no thank you. and the *part* that was removed, it was 1.75 larger than the normal. no wonder I was having such a great time.....puh.
had a very nice lunch with my MIL at Ruby Tuesday's. nom nom yum. salad bar and I tried to keep it all clean. even used EVOO. did have 1 garlic n cheddar biscuit and 1 large shrimp and a bite of crab cake and a bite of lobster and....lemon in my water.
Tanner is working late. the fishermen should be home either tomorrow or Friday....missing them. I have a bus meeting in the am. think I'll bake something and then clean the oven. still very nice here. wish I could bottle this kinda weather up and save it for a nasty-yucky day.
gosh, I'm really tired...0 -
everyone must be busy...hope you're all well.
had our bus meeting...and it went very well! I am a very happy bus driver. 1. my route did not change (which could change b/c people are still registering). 2. I get a shuttle this year! YAHOO! this will add $ 3000 to my wages! 3. looks like I will get varsity football....and other trips if no one wants. I'm gonna take as much as I can....and hope not to get burn out. now to get busy calling everyone!
Tyler sent me a text around 1:45 pm today..they were in Int'l Falls and will be home in 10hrs.
going to my folks soon..my dad is 74 today. have a good one and wishin ya lower numbers at the scale tomorrow!!0 -
scale said 185. that's a gain of 2.8 from 2 weeks ago. could be better could be worse. time to kick it in high gear...well, at least a better gear than where I'm at now. did get ok from Dr. on Wednesday to resume all activities, with caution.
very tired today. guys arrived home around 11:30. dh restless....no decent sleep for me. possibly may be going shopping with them all since no one really has formal attire for the wedding tomorrow.
contacted most of my family's...need to get my bus home next and get it ready for the big day!!
dog sitting for my folks today. she has escaped once already....0 -
I am at 226 this week. A 3.2 pound loss for me.
On Wednesday night, we had to evacuate our apartment because of fire in our building on our floor. Everyone is ok. No one was hurt; no damage to our apartment. We had a smelly hallway for a day and a half. I guess someone was frying food and went to check their laundry and when they came back there was a grease fire in their kitchen. They put out the fire but there was so much smoke everyone had evacuated our building and fire department was called. Poor Dan carried Ody over his shoulder down 6 flights of stairs! That is a lot of stairs. We live about 1 block from the fire department and by the time we made it outside they were already there. I learned something very important: I was not prepared for an emergency!! I made a very short list of everything I need to grab for Ody before I walk out the door. With Ody there are somethings we need to have to care for him (G-tubes, medicines, & feeding tubes). It should take less than 30 seconds to put everything in a bag and leave. I am also putting a spare in the truck in case we don't have the time to grab before getting out. It was about 11 pm before we were allowed back into our apartment and midnight before I got to bed. No exercise for me on Thursday. I was tired and crabby and so was Zan. I don't know which of us was crabbier me or him. It was not a good combination. I am still a little off track today but hopefully Zan will start sleeping at night so Dan and I can get caught up on our sleep.
Kelly- Glad Tanner can drive again! I am happy that the fishermen have returned safe and sound. Yeah for the same route and the shuttle!! I happy you got the all clear from your doctor.
I will try to do better at checking in more frequently. I am logging in my food which takes up some of my computer time. It is very limited already thanks to Zan. Have a great day!0 -
Angie...glad you all got out of your building and are ok....that must have been scary. way to go on the weight loss. what you're doing is working!! agree with ya on logging food. it IS time consuming. I think I've pretty much got all my foods in the system now. when I'm logging, I'm also weighing and measuring my food. it's a process....but when I log, I get results.
well, the wedding was a lot of fun. It was my husband's 1st cousin's daughter. very nice and we were able to visit many of his relatives and I was so glad the boys went. We all went in one car, and it was about an hour away. Tyler caught the brides garter!! We got home around 11pm, tired.... and toasted!
Still working on Canada laundry and need to get something out for dinner and supper. have a good one all.0 -
Hi all. Angie -- it takes one emergency to realize we are not prepared for an emergency. Once we prepare - we won't have an emergency.
Kelly - it seems your back to work status is going to be good for you.
I also gained. 173.4
Over the weekend, bouts of sadness hit. Especially when seeing couples together. Even the 18yr old cashier at Lowes gave me dating advice. One husband/wife friends told me I'm trying too hard -- learn to be with myself first. And I should be proud of the home improvements I've done so far. Yes, the yard looks nicer ... I found out some of my exterior lights are not working - so those need to be replaced.
My confidence waxes and wanes. Sometimes I feel I want to date -- sometimes I feel I don't think it's worth my time. At times I feel damn I am a good catch -- other times why isn't others seeing that.
Patience isn't what I am good at right now.0 -
good afternoon...quiet with the SHGP's lately....actually, all summer....hope things change soon and y'all come back.
brought my bus home today. it is a 2009 and has 43,000 miles on it. might be the newest bus I've ever driven. very nice, clean for the most part. and all I have to do to open the door is push a button...nothing manual. I did go thru all the seats and get the 'hidden' wrappers, gum, candy, etc...you name it, it was there. swept it out too. tomorrow I will wipe down the windows and seats. I don't think I'm gonna have a problem with the air brakes, it's just a knob...but there are 2 safety features...a button to push in, at the back of the bus and a lever by the front door. bells and buzzers will sound if I forget! I'm just so excited for Wednesday and seeing my kiddos again. Could be a restless Tuesday nite!
Tyler went back to his house last nite. said he might not be home for 2-3 weeks. Tanner is done working so he has nothing going on this week. they both start back to college next Monday. Scott went back to work today.
making salads for supper.
thinking of everyone...posters and non posters....take care ladies0 -
Zan had his 15 month old check up today. He was a stinker for the nurses. He wouldn't let them get his weight, height, head circumference and other vitals. His weight was 20 lbs. 10 oz. (best guess), which is up only by 14 oz. in 3 months. I swear the child eats. He grew 1.25 inches!! It took 2 nurses and myself to get his height. He is small for his age but at least he is still on the charts. Ody isn't for weight. He did ok with the DR. this visit and very good for his shots. Go figure the part he should have been a stinker for he wasn't. I gave Zan raisins for the first time today and he really liked them. Yeah I have a new quick easy healthy snack for him. Ody has been a trooper this summer with all the chasing I do everyday. I am so glad Ody is a laid back child. Zan still isn't napping very well. I got to go Zan has a stinky diaper. Have a great day, Ladies!!0

Hi all. DId a 30 minute stationary bike & 60 minute kickboxing.
Roommate not back from her weekend .. so it's quiet... just the humm of the fridge & the trickle trickle sound of the fish tank.
Sometimes the silence is too much -- right now it's ok.
Take care.0 -
taking a break right now. per my supervisor I locked my bus last nite...back door, all windows and the service door. prior to doing this I **practiced** locking and unlocking the service door with the door opened...just to get the feel of it. I panicked a little when I couldn't get it open this am. I mean I did everything...push, pull, turn, take out, put back in for like 20 minutes. Even called my supervisor and the previous driver (had to leave messages with both). I just assumed I did something wrong with one of the safety features (unfamiliar to me)...felt really dumb....then, finally, it opened. gesh..now, I don't want to lock it. I mean, I can't be spending 20 minutes trying to unlock my bus...especially when I have to do a pre-trip inspection which takes about 10 minutes. every minute counts to a bus driver. and in the winter time....it'll probably FREEZE!
they are replacing our water meter today in our basement. the entire town is going to a new meter system. our's is the original...55 years old.
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!!0 -
Barb- If I ever have a quiet house, which rarely happens, I turn in the radio and start singing and dancing. I can't stand a quiet house. It makes me scared especially at night. I am so rarely alone it feels weird. I wish sometimes I could have a couple of hours totally by myself.
Kelly- Did you ever figure out what opened your new bus?
I have been busy with the boys and making sure I get my exercise in. Today we will be going to the library to get new books. I hope I get to take a nap today with Zan. He is horrible about taking naps. He sleeps 20-30 minutes in the car and thinks he doesn't have to nap for the rest of the day. By 5 PM he is so very crabby but still won't nap. I wish the bottom molars would come through so I can get my good baby back. Zan is done eating. Have a great day!0 -
Angie - you're welcome to come escape to my house for a few hours of quiet. Just head north.
Emotionally, I'm doing better today than I have for the last week.0 -
Morning/first day of school A SUCCESS!! I was smiling so much my cheeks were starting to hurt! I have a list of questions for my supervisor..he is to call me back soon. I did not lock my bus, and still don't want to until I know for sure it will open....that is one of my questions!
I have a lot of quiet here...I don't mind it most of the time..but I do have moments I listen to some of my favorite CD's. When no one is here Rosie and Lily make noises...all day long loud breathing and snoring (due to nasal stenosis....it's a pug thing ) I can easily scare myself at nite if I'm alone...:ohwell:
Angie...have fun getting some new books! I bet the boys like going to the library! hope you get in a little nap today. can be a little frustrating when a baby doesn't want to sleep. but, look at you...still getting in all that exercise!! I am so proud of you and I'm ready to get moving again too and tone this body up!
Barb ~ I hope you were able to get to the car event and have some fun socializing! hold your head high....and if you find yourself dragging, let us know...we're here to lift you up! hugs0 -
great news successful first day for Kelly. Welcome back to work.0
-
been doing paper work (bills, check books, filing, etc) since I finished a.m. bus route. WOW. need to get better about doing it more often. still amazed at all the paper/garbage. unreal. do any of you ladies do paperless for bills? I'm considering....
I think I figured out my bus door problem. thanks to Tanner. he went out with me to look at it, check it out. it is very likely I was putting the key in wrong. doh we'll see. it is locked now and I leave again about 2:50pm. supervisor did call and guess what, he asked me to do another shuttle (this is the one that picks kids up at the HS/MS after they have finished practice for football, volleyball, etc). I had been doing this almost 2 yrs and last year they cut it for expenses. it will only run about a month, but hey, I am doing any and all I can to make up for missed time. I don't really have anything else to do with my time, so why not just drive my bus! I think I will take all my extra non-route income and put it towards **traveling** and since I have this TK shuttle, which is a.m. and p.m. it shortens my at-home time. I am not used to that, since it's been at least a couple years since I have had a shuttle. all sorts of new things going on for me. I feel like a new employee!
Tanner and I are going to go grocery shopping either tomorrow or Friday...he is a big help!
I just had a cup of soup (low-fat black bean vegetable), a serving of strawberries, and a slice of swiss cheese and my stomach is still hungry :ohwell:0 -
I do a mix of online & paper. Sometimes the paper is a good reminder for me. I did create a spreadsheet that lists all the monthly bill name, amount, when due, and when paid. There's also a listing of pay date/amount. I print this out & place in my dayplanner as a visual reminder of what is due/when and what was paid.
Some bills I have set up to automatically deduct from my account when due.
Yes, grab what you can -- use the funds for what you want.0 -
Kelly- Yeah for a successful first day and for the extra shuttle!! I know that feeling of smiling so much your cheeks hurt.
I pay my bills online but I like paper bills to remind me of when, how much is due. I usually write my confirmation # on the bills. Then when I get a new filing cabinet I will file it. I was too tired today to take the boys to the library so I just dropped the books off. Tomorrow we will go to the library. Zan actually took 2 naps today!!! Time to do some laundry. Have a great night!0 -
hi ladies -- I got food from the grocery store today. Ok, so the grocery store made the chicken breasts & scallops.... so what....
I haven't seen my roommate since last Thursday afternoon... quiet again tonight...0 -
Tanner and I went grocery shopping...the house is stocked again. no reason not to log my food intake now. Kinda tired right now... still gettin used to the routine. will be grilling for supper. pork chops for the guys and turkey burger for me. think we'll do some cabbage and onions too.
have a good Thursday.0 -
It's going to take some time to adjust to your new routine.
We had rain this morning and now sunny skies... Ready to go home... not 5pm yet.0
