    Shopping is usually my coping mechanism. Because I convince myself that a new lipstick or the "perfect" pair of jeans is going to turn my life around. And if it is my husband who is upsetting me, all the better to be wasting his money on more stuff I don't need.
  • There have been many throughout the years that I'm aware of, and probably some that I'm not.

    Listening to sad songs or songs that bring back bad memories or angry music.
    Isolating myself, wallowing in sadness.
    Useless internet shopping.
    Sleep excessively or at least I try to. I tend to awake in the wee hours of the morning for no good reason.
    Drive.

    I bottle it all up.

    My bottled up stress tends to be released in the gym. Music does help reach down into those dark areas and help bring the emotion to the surface.

    Ammo gets pretty speedy though. I can play guitar for hours.

    I go the range and then after I get depressed because I blew too much money on ammo. Then I go home and get out the guitar and play until my fingers bleed.

    I'm really good at bottling all the bad up. I either end up smashing the hell outta myself and the weights at the gym or at the bottom of a bottle(or 3) of red.

    I also really like shutting down and ignoring things.

    I drink to shift my mood or to calm down or to stop obsessing about whatever is bothering me.

    Make random choices and force myself to deal with the consequences, to distract and/or punish myself. Give myself another problem to deal with basically.

    Don't eat when I hate myself, or feel like I need control over something.

    Used to smoke a *kitten* ton of pot (until I started to get paranoid) and (not at the same time as I was a stoner) take sleep meds and pretend I was sick and sleep for days...one week was the longest I spent in bed drugging myself

    This is me. I'm never going to drown my sorrows in apples or oranges (I wish!) It's usually whatever tasty, yummy, orgasm in your mouth sweets I can find. :blush:

    I'm coming down from my weekend marathon endorphin high, lack of sleep due to soreness, and post race calorie gorge. Today is going to be difficult
