I love how you’re all saying about sweat/yoga pants and getting changed properly (don’t get me wrong I think it’s amazing change around and I agree it does help!)
However it’s 3pm here and I’m still in my pyjamas and only just getting a shower
I frequently do this when I work from home.
It is also not uncommon for me to forget to clean my teeth on WFH days!!!
(Normally I do that before I leave the house, but when I WFH I often plan to do it after breakfast and then forget as I've changed my routine....)
I'm not proud of this....
This made me LMAO!!!! "I'm not proud of this..." haha! That was the best part of working from home...not getting dressed until noon and then only wearing yoga pants! I miss that.2 -
JFT, Tues
1. log ALL food
2. concentrate on water I tried to drink 2 cups of water with each meal, and succeeded in doing this. Now, I just need to drink more water tonite while sewing, so I don't go and snack. But a much better day!
3. GO TO THE GYM... More for my sanity than anything else .... plus it gets my frame of mind where it should be And I SO enjoyed it!!! 90 minutes on the treadmill, with incline at 11.0, and speed at 4.0. This was talking with my friends. I was so happy I went .... this definitely gets my day started out right. Plus, it also helps that the sun was shining today!
4. go to the dentist. Dreading this -- I had a implant done about 3 years ago, and the tooth is lose. Praying it is only the crown that is lose, and not the actual implant! My dentist tells me I grind my teeth at nite, so he says in my grinding, I was able to losen the "screw" under the crown. So I have to go next week, so he can drill a hole though the crown, tighten the "screw", and then refill the crown. If that doesn't work, he will have to break the crown, which means I would have to buy another crown - $1000. So really hoping he can just drill through. I don't even know I grind my teeth - guess I do this while sleeping.
5. soup for lunch and fruit ...... chicken for dinner .... and protein for a snack in the evening. Not quite -changed all this around, but logged it all.
6. get back on here .... be accountable.
I am hoping to keep this going. See you guys ..... all the positive energy on this thread is contagious!!!!! SO thank you all!! I don't have time to respond to all the posts - my gosh - there was 4 pages back with posts! But so proud of you all. We are all going to reach our goals this year -- taking this one day at a time. That is the nice thing , each day starts over. Something I have to keep reminding myself - we can start over anytime!
JFT, Wed
1. valentines day - but hubby still not ready to go out. So I have a turkey breast to put in the oven, with veggies. I did buy a angel food cake with some ice cream -- so I will try and only eat one piece.
2. log all food
3. go to the gym. It makes me feel so much better all day
4. temps are suppose to be close to 60 - so hubby and I plan to sit out in the patio room, soaking up some sunshine!
5. get back on here - be accountable
Read success stories --- and we have many success stories right on this thread!!!!5 -

@joan6630 hey there sweetie, regarding the gym and potential depression:
a. It's important for your mental health as well as your physical.
b. Have you been taking any extra vitamin D?
c. Would it help hubby if you wiped everything down before and after you used it?
d. Hugs for you.
Thank you so much! No, I do not take any vitamins. I guess I need to start taking extra vitamins, especially in the winter months. I am just terrible at remembering to take anything. And thank you for the "hugs"!2 -
@Joan6630 I certainly don't want to be a total Negative Nelly. I do want to encourage you that while the list you made is one that could certainly be achievable on a good healthy day, that perhaps you should pare it down so that it is more attainable for where you are TODAY. Perhaps Just For Today going to the gym will give you a restart and will help you refocus so that you will once again start achieving your daily goals. The gym. That's it. Or to drink 3 cups of water, instead of concentrating on 8. Or to come back here to be uplifted instead of to hold yourself accountable. Are you writing down the daily goals that you think you SHOULD write down, that you SHOULD be able to attain? If I broke my foot and I wrote down "ride my stationary bike"---I would be writing what I SHOULD be able to do, if I was physically capable--- Right now you are struggling. So instead of making the same ol same ol list, write down what, in your frame of mind, you feel you can actually accomplish...and that might just be one item. (can't help you with the dreaded dentist, however. He probably needs to stay on the list, lol) And if you go to the gym, take germ killing wipes with you to the gym! Just come here to sit and soak encouraging words and support---it won't be long before you are back to a healthy you!
Praying for peace and joy.
You are so right! I tend to be a "all or nothing", and thats where I get discouraged. Today was a "all" day, and it feels good. But I know, most of my days I don't quite succeed at what I know I need to do, and thats when I get discouraged.
I remember reading in the Beck Diet Solution book that we should always give ourself credit for what we DO do right, and not look at what we don't.
Thank you so very much. All your posts are so insightful!4 -
This whole experience with this amazing teacher has allowed me to fac a lot of my own fears and challenges. It shows me the importance of setting goals, healthy boundaries and advocating for yourself.
Shake off negative vibes!
What a wonderful thing, and so insightful! You are so right .... healthy boundaries and goals! You've got this Sara!!!! I know this will be your year!2 -
Thank you so much! I've been on Zoloft for about a zillion years. It's genetic in my family. We've been thinking about starting him on them for a couple years, but wanted to wait as long as possible on this one.
I have so much compassion for anyone dealing with any kind of mental illness. I never thought I had any mental illness myself, but I know every winter, I get so down on myself, and I look at my loses, instead of all that I have. My daughter, who is now 39, is very brillant -- scholarshops at both college, and medical school - she even went as far as a masters degree in occupational therapy. Her illness did not manifest until she was around 25. Thank God that they do have medications to help people. Sometimes it takes a lot of tweaking, to get the right dosage and medication. My grandson, who is only 12, has been dx with ADHD, so my son and DIL are in the midst of giving him something to help. I will keep you in my prayers, that they will find the right medications to help your dear son. It is very hard to watch someone hurt themselves (my daughter also would cut herself and pull her hair out in big clumps). And you are right, it is genetic. We had 6 doctors tell us this .... after I spent years reanalyzing how we raised my daughter, what we did wrong, blaming myself for what she was going through. I finally fully accept that this is nothing anyone did, nothing anyone asked for.
God bless you and your family. Hugs to you. You are a wonderful mother.4 -
@OConnell5483 -- you've got this girl!! I love reading your positive posts! I know this will be your year!!

clairelouisey wrote: »@cynhow well done to you for your weekend restraint. How did you do it? I do ok when we don’t have guests but as soon as people come for dinner I over indulge. So disappointed in my weekend behaviour - what worked for you?
Honestly, for me it is all about planning. I knew I wanted a little bit of splurge at dinner so I made adjustments earlier in the day. If I don’t think ahead I will eat with wild abandon. In the past I’ve also filled up on “good” food before an event so I’m just not even hungry for the “bad” food that often comes with special events. Smaller portions can work for me too...let’s be clear though...sometimes it just doesn’t work and you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep moving. Each meal has s a chance to make good choices.5 -
2/12/2018
1. Get to the gym!
2. Stretch - I'm so bad at stretching but feel so good when I do it! Some but need more
3. Spend some time reading posts!
Somehow I missed a day. I really thought I posted earlier. I’ll post for tomorrow so I don’t forget.
2/14/2018
1. Plan lunch and snacks. I have a meeting that runs from 12-4 so that’ll hit lunch and snack time.
2. Up my protein. I’ve kept calories down but have had too many carbs. I need to increase my protein.
3. Read.4 -

1. Up by 7:30/prep DH's lunch Actually got up at 6:30
2. Coffee/MFP/Bible Did all of this! Actually cracked open my Bible this morning. It felt good!
3. Call MD office about blood work
4. Breakfast with R and L Had a wonderful time! Gonna meet again Friday morning with the DH
5. Possible bloodwork I was in and out of the office in about 5 minutes. It was great!
6. Lunch Salad and leftover chicken
7. Library Was only there for about a half an hour but I got 20 minutes of stream of consciousness thoughts down
8. Gym Actually did this before the library. Didn't do any weights today because I thought I didn't have much time. Turns out the DH left work an hour late
9. Food in Crock Pot by 3 Got home just in time to do this
10. Read a few more chapters in Idea book Finished the last page as the DH was walking into the house. Now to tackle the four other books I have and the four I have on hold
11. Email M Didnt do this. I figured I'll get over my intense dislike of talking on the phone and give her a call.
I think she's been avoiding me again. She tends to do this every once in a while.
12. DH time Had a wonderful evening. We cuddled on the couch and watched the Pens game(They won!) and just spent quality time together
13. Dinner/Dishes Made my favorite meal(Tuna Noodle Casserole, a lighter version though) and I was able to eat two servings because I had saved my calories and I still had a deficit plus my exercise calories! I finished the last dish before I signed on here. I had totally forgotten about it actually. I went to go fill my water cup and noticed it. Lol.
14. Pens game See above!!!
15. Bed by 11 Seeing as how it's a minute to 11, I dont think that is going to happen. I'm aiming for midnight now because I want to read for a little while. Lol
Had a great day all around! I think tomorrow is going to be pretty good. It'll be hit or miss if I get anything for Valentine's Day though. My DH is notoriously bad at giving gifts on gift-giving holidays. I told him that I want flowers and that I dont care where he gets them but he was on his phone before moaning and groaning about prices and how he waited too long. I dont know if he was teasing me(which he does A LOT) or if he really isn't going to get them. Either way, I'll love him and won't hold it against him. That's just the way he is. I'm making him one of his favorite dinners and a special dessert that he doesn't know about. I love surprising him with things like that. The best part is that I can have a piece of the dessert and not be totally overindulging. The ice cream and Magic Shell might be too much but the cake should be fine. Lol
Anyway, onto my list!
JFT, 2/14/18
1. Up at 6:30/weigh in/ Dress before coffee!!!
2. MFP/Bible
3. Food store to pick up online order
4. DH lunch/gym after he leaves

7. Take out chicken to defrost for dinner

Scale goals
Dec 1 weigh-in: 176.6
End of 2017: 174.6
Feb 1 weigh-in: 173.6
Feb 28 goal: 169.6
Today: 179.4; dumped some of the water. Meet-the-Teacher night was frustrating not so much because of being stood up by parents, but because it's well into second semester, and it wasn't well-promoted. Around here, the elementary schools do get good turnout at such events, but the middle schools get less, and the high schools NEVER get a strong response. It just felt like the horse we were beating was deader than usual this time
Thanks for the encouragement, @MLHC1 and @HGSmith09205 -
I’m having a day from hell today.
I’ve had to cancel 3 appointments. As if I can do all them in one day anyway with no car. (Partners using it this morning) it’s Valentine’s Day and it’s just going to absolute €rap, not between me and my partner but with the kids.
My eldest is being an absolute pain. Pushing all my buttons and now she’s run off upstairs crying because I shouted at her (because she was pushing all my buttons) and she won’t come down. Which is just making the whole thing worse.
Also I tidied last night, had all toys neat, hoovered and steam mopped and they’ve just wrecked it all, there’s toys everywhere and the sofa quilts have been dragged off and thrown across the floor (think how much better a bed looks when it’s made - same thing with the sofa)
And then the midwife has just popped round to rebook appointments because she couldn’t get me on the phone (even though it’s never rang) and so it just looked like I was an absolute incapable mess who lives in a sh!thole.
She’s ruined my day and now that’s going to reflect on me and my OH now.9 -

I think the midwife knows that you are a mother of two little ones so she will probably take that into consideration if she forms a judgment about you. I'm sorry you're having a terrible day! I really hope it gets better. I'm sure your daughter will calm down and come down when she gets hungry. Lol.3 -

So I stepped on the scale this morning with much trepidation remembering how much it said on Monday. Turns out I must have lost most of the water weight because I lost 4lbs in 2 days. Lol. I also weighed in before coffee this morning so that might have helped as well. Lol. It just feels so good to be able to look at the scale and see the numbers going down again! I was so discouraged when I saw that I had gone up that far. But now I am under my first goal again and 1lb away from where I was last Monday. I hope I keep losing it again. I remember that it was hard when I first started. The weight came off so slowly but not it seems to be coming off a lot easier. Probably because I dont eat as much as I was back then. I mean I still eat just not as much as I was and I very rarely eat back my exercise calories now. I dont know what it will be like when I start working again but for right now this seems to have done the trick. Lol
I hope everyone is having a great day!5 -

That is a little strange that they would do a night like that so far into the school year. Do they do one in Septemeber as well? That was usually when ours were done. My school had parent-teacher conferences when they met individually with the teacher and talked about their child's progress and such(my Mom ALWAYS went to those). Usually came home with the same litany of things for me to work on. Lol. Homework, handwriting, and keeping my mouth shut in class. I think this was the time of year that they would do them too. Maybe closer to January. It's been 10+ years since I was in high school so who knows. I'm sorry it was such a waste of time for you though. I'm glad you lost the water weight! That's always a nice feeling to see that the scale had dropped so many lbs in such a short time. Lol.
I hope that you have a better day.1 -
JFT - 2/13
Eat food plan - Did pretty good - ate some chicken that was not on the list and did not eat my apple. Could have done it, but I felt I wanted a reward for going to gym... Need to work on the emotional eating...
Drink more water
Go to gym and learn how to work a new machine (new to gym,,,)
JFT 2/14
Eat Food Plan
Drink more water
Go to gym and learn another piece of equipment5 -
I'm beat tonight but I got 'em - barely
Partner made us breakfast during which he announced he had also decided to make us dinner, it was completely unexpected and wonderful but not kind on my KJ limit (however I was able to negotiate healthier dinner ingredients, so it wasn't as hard to accommodate as it could have been )
Let's do this thing!
stay within KJ limit
watch out for sugar and sodium limits
eat chia for breakfast
avoid dairy and gluten
complete 30mins on exercise bike5 -

Took the boy to the dr. will be starting a low dose of SSRI anti-depressant tonight. hoping it will help with the hair pulling, anxiety, etc.
My SSRI's have worked wonders for my illness and anxieties. They helped me get my feet back under me after so many years with anxiety and panic attacks. I'm actually off the emergency ones. I haven't taken one of them since I left my convenience store job last April. And I learned a whole bunch of techniques to remove myself from an "emotional crisis" when things get really bad. The one I'm on for everyday actuals doubles as an anti-depressant and I think it's more of an anti-depressant than an anti-anxiety med. But either way, I hope they work! I know it cant be easy to have a child on the spectrum. When I wasn't medicated for the Bipolar I was a real issue for my parents. I know it's not the same but I hope you know that there are people here that are pulling for you and your son. And can see what a great Mom you are to him. Keep up the great work and one day he will thank you. My Mom and I had a really rough relationship all of my teenage and young adult years. But I grew up and got medicated and she learned that I'm not who I used to be anymore and now she's one of my best friends. Took about 3 year of hard work and harder conversations but it is totally worth it! So keep up the amazing job you are doing and know that there a whole bunch of people pulling for you and your son!
Thank you so much! I've been on Zoloft for about a zillion years. It's genetic in my family. We've been thinking about starting him on them for a couple years, but wanted to wait as long as possible on this one.
I've been on Celexa for about 4 years to treat anxiety. Started at higher dose but was feeling too tired so lowered the dose and it manages my anxiety quite nicely. I had crazy dreams while my body adjusted to it and even when reducing the dose. It took another mom sharing her experience with me to motivate me to face this. So grateful.
Best wishes for your sin.3 -
Early bedtime & meditation are at the top today.
Drink water-64oz min.
Track all my meals today-low carb/high protein.
Pack protein bar & apple in bag. Yep-everyday, very boring lol.
Walk/run dog at the ocean side park. Ran about 50% on & off yesterday.
Chiropractor appt today.
Read this evening "New Book Of Lifting for Women".
High protein pasta dinner tonight.
Valentines treats for family.
Scale hasn't moved in a few days-do not get discouraged.
Welcome new MFP friends!

So for the last two days, I was really looking forward to going to the library to sit down and write for a little while. I was kind of excited today as well until I sat down at a back table and thought 'Why am I doing this? I dont want to be here! This isn't going to work.' Well, I changed seats and forced myself to pull out my notebook and pen. I set the timer for 20 minutes and got to it. The first like half a page was me complaining about how much I didn't want to do it but after about 5 minutes I got into the flow of it. It got easier and it turned out I needed to get a few things off my chest and written down so that I could look at them and know that everything will be okay. It's funny how things like that happen. I'm just glad that I stuck with it. I think I am going to do it until I get a new job. The gym and writing will definitely be harder once I start working again, especially if it's full time. But I figure that I can write during my breaks while sitting in a break room or something and if I have to start doing at home workouts again I will. Depends on the hours I'm working and the DH's schedule.4

Recap T 2/13 - Wish I felt better all day long, but some is better than none...reminder to self, don't overdo!!! Limited my chores in evening
1) Move hourly / stairs breaks at work = Fitbit 8,174 steps, 250+ steps 13/14 hours & 32 floors Getting antsy to start walking again but don't want to backslide with my health.
2) Net calories green / monitor the usual = Net calories red 40, sodium & fiber not great, protein & sugar ok and 15c water
3) Evening: lasagna roll-ups for supper, boil eggs, organize tax docs for preparer = done / done & have more snacks for self & hubby / done but pending receipt of final docs, such a pain
4) Unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / bed & TV off 10:15 = ??? / done / done, as much as I hate wearing them (they also help with the grinding of teeth in my sleep...thanks for reminding me @joan6630) / done
JFT Ash Wednesday 2/14
1) Move hourly / stairs breaks at work
2) Net calories green...somewhat difficult to predict due to soup supper tonight at church...limit breads / desserts at supper / log best I can / monitor the usual
3) 6:00 soup supper & 7:00 Ash Wednesday service
4) Quick errands on way home
5) Prep for annual physical Th a.m.: paperwork, vitamins & hormones, GPS (3 years at this office & I never remember the way there), overnight oats so I can fast in case Dr. B wants a blood draw...never had overnight oats before, but figured it's good opportunity to try new recipe & eat at work after doctor appt. because I get very wonky without my breakfast
6) Unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / bed & TV off 10:30

Thanks! Today's going significantly better than yesterday and DEFINITELY better than the day before. I came up with a great introductory activity for our study of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and it went over really well.
We did have a parent-teacher night in September, but our school is on semester blocks, so students take half of their classes in the fall, and get a whole new set of classes in the spring. So there is reason for a "meet-the-teacher" night, but it was frustrating to have it be such a waste of time."Sacrifice is giving up something good for something better."
Love this and am adding it to my quotes file!4 -

Can I please tell you how much I HATE job searching?!!
I mean I really hate it! I just spent almost two hours doing nothing but job hunting and I sent my resume out twice! I went through every bank I could think of in my state, Indeed.com for all the positions I've had in the past AND every temp agency I can think of! I'm going crazy! I really need a job! I'm just hoping that something comes through soon! So praying people, throw some up for me!7 -
