I just saw this thread and love it! I can check in more later but for now, I am somewhat new to being in community so how do I do a post without clicking on quote (and deleting the quote)?

Hi ladies,
Wendy, that damage is really something. It’s amazing how powerful Mother Nature is. It’s 60 (14c) already here today and it’s only 8:00. Suppose to rain in the afternoon. So people are preparing for some flooding. If it’s not one thing it’s another.
Pip, Yogi was such a little cutie.
Dana, thanks for sharing the pictures of you mom. She looks like someone I would have enjoyed knowing.
RunningMav, this seems to be the year for falling. I feel last November and fractured my wrist. There have been a number of us that have fallen. Glad you are feeling better.
Sue, doesn’t matter how much you post. Just post when you can. Good for you picking something sugar free when you got home.
Cheri, you must feel good knowing you made a decision on selling the rental home. Good luck with that. Congrats on earning your Fitbit. Well done.
Machka, good to hear you are enjoying your rides and doing well with your writing.
NYKaren, you sound like you are having a great trip. Such wonderful things you are seeing. I wouldn’t be surprised it you decide not to come home. Of course that would be great for us as I’m sure you wouldn’t mind us visiting. Lol
Christinefro, welcome. You should see a box at the very bottom of the page titled “Reply”. Just enter your post there. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you’d like to be called. If you put your name to all your posts it helps us keep track of who is who. We are a very chatty group but full of encouragement and fun.
Not sure how DD is feeling today as she was still asleep when I left for work. Hopefully she is feeling better and getting some of her energy back. Not sure if she will be able to make class again tonight. I know she really misses going. She loves to learn. One of her teachers was a real d!ck about her not being there last night. It’s the physics class that she is struggling with. I have a friend whose son is an astrophysicist that use to tutor so I asked my friend it he would be interested in helping her. I’d be surprised if he said no. I’m hoping that because I’m friends with his mother, he won’t charge to tutor her or if he does it isn’t much. With her not working, I’ll be paying (maybe I can get her dad to pay half).
There was a lock down at the school that my ex works at. I heard this from DD. I guess someone called in a threat. DD was pretty upset. She was worried that if her dad hadn’t texted her she never would have known. I think she said they caught the person. What is this world coming to. At work our receptionist has a panic button which when pushed, sends out a corporate wide e-mail. It’s never been pushed but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one day.
Have done nothing with my lately. I’ve got to get another lamp for the 3rd side of my photo light box. Then I can try some pictures again. I have a necklace that I want to make in sterling but the rings alone will cost $140 so I’m waiting till pay day. Of course, I could make it in brass for $52 but I really like the sterling and silver jewelry is what I wear. But then again I’ve been looking online and people are charging a bit for their jewelry. I know people pay what I wouldn’t so got to get over that. Getting our taxes done this weekend so maybe I will get enough money back to buy the rings. We usually get some back. Then again we need a new stove. Rings…stove…I’d choose rings but will probably get the stove. Sigh…
Well better get to work so I still have an job. Today, I’m the only one in until 10:00 then the other 2 co-workers come in, so had a chance to post uninterrupted.
((Hugs)) to those struggling with eating and life.

Done my run! Last one of Week 8. Next week is the final week when we run for 30 minutes and walk 5 either side.
I was worried my phone didn't have enough battery left, but it was fine and I sang all the way round. Yes, that means I'm not running fast. But I did a little sprint at the end.
Watch not arrived yet.
Going to make the Spinach and Feta Pie for dinner with a green bean and tomato salad. Big slice of bread and butter for DH.
My editing went well this morning. I've now got to the bit I first wrote in pencil, then re-did on my tablet and then retyped, so it's a bit more coherent.
There's still a lot of diet/fitness programmes on TV at the moment, so I'm enjoying all those. Picked up one or two new moves. Last night there was a man who dropped 33 lbs in 90 days, got fit and shaved off his moustache and beard. I swear his own wife wouldn't recognise him. He looked 20 years younger!!!! Of course we all know that it's keeping it off that's the hard bit. Building sustainable habits is the only way.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -

Rye thanks! Yes a little gummy but I'll make the sacrifice to feed the gut biome. Wish there were some convincing evidence about reheating (toasting) baked bread
Lanette reheated pb cups? LOL! And pastries and beer and... Yesterday did SWSY first time in many years. Upper 2 sets 3# ea. next time up row and biceps to 5#, keep overhead press at 3#. Will star the day on our new Skye calendar.
Wendy thanks for the backstory, lucky kids to rehome ponies. ". . .wouldn't dream of leaving their own gates open. Men!" Grrr! Oh nooo, not the greenhouse!
Karen in VA I'm jealous of your culinary options
Becca croc dots and sparkly made me snort my tea. Thanks! Beautiful Suki pic.
Mary in AZ fat "lubricates... blood vessels" ? Really? Doubt I could ever keto or even low carb but that's food for thought
Janetr Gorgeous! Look out Faberge!
Terry whew good news about DD.
Michelle sounds like they'll need a magician to conjure up the gala financing.
Machka "English"? Really??? de gustibus...
Lisa "Fauxberge" brilliant! Likewise Heather Fabregg
RunningMave oww! You must be in great shape to ditch the tailbone pane so quickly. I've bruised mine twice and the second one took a year to stop hurting.
Sue in Troutdale, Despite living 20 years in Boise, ID, the worst black ice we ever hit was in the Columbia Gorge near you. When we finally got through we saw miles of big rigs pulled over alongside the highway, waiting for road conditions to improve. Safe travel/commute.
NYKaren 10 miles yesterday and Spanish steps today? Impressive!
Heather dance running, now sing-and-dance running? Somehow I hear Gene Kelly singing in the rain...
pip 24 F? brr!
Allie Police station/paperwork???
Oops, time to meditate, prep vegs for lunch, break fast and scoot to T'ai Chi.
Love y'all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.

Allie: Thanks for sharing the positive information about Gloria's family. :flowerforyou:
Barbara the Southern Oregon Coastie: Thanks for sharing the information on reheated pasta. I wonder if that would be as big an improvement for DH as I think it might. I'm going to send him the link.
Heather: We had a good time when we were with DD on our trip. She complained about Illinois tax laws making home ownership for young families very difficult. Their property tax structure protects longtime residents from big tax hikes, but a huge hike occurs when the home is sold. It prices her out of the market. She has other concerns at the moment as well and is not as happy at work as previously. She has been talking about moving back to Oregon. I'd LOVE for that to happen. She needs to sell the Colorado house as a first step and the remodel is not quite done. This is a rough patch and she will just have to live her way through it until it is resolved. Sometimes you can't or shouldn't fix things for your adult children. :ohwell:
Mary: I agree with you on the value of fat in our diets. My reading tells me that fat is brain food--the human brain is composed primarily of fat. So I guess we humans are pretty much a bunch of fat heads.
Terry: I hope things go well for your DD. :flowerforyou:
I am not even close to the end of reading your posts, but I need to take my dog to the groomer & road conditions are icey. I'll be back later.

To my new friends,
After 3 1/2 years I have regained almost all the weight I worked so hard to lose.
Stress and demands of being in the ‘sandwich’ of caregiving to my elderly parents and caregiving to the young ones created a challenge and a stress level I simply could not manage with past tools or experience. My pattern that worked so well in weight loss and maintenance in the past did not survive all the life changes. So now I need to find a fresh path to weight loss and then maintenance.
So today I turn to you all for tips, support, friendship and advice. This is new territory for me. How have you all handled menopause and multiple family demands and sugar cravings (mainly nighttime)????? And a DH who brings home fav ice cream and treats almost every night??
Help!!! I am limited in my exercise due to Lupus, but lately have had enough energy to walk about 3 days a week. Praying for health and strength to do more.
Thank you all and so happy I found this group dedicated to those of us 50+ (BTW I’m 57).
Hugs to you all, Jean6 -
Barbara- healthy fats can help prevent Arteriorsclerosis the stiffening and hardening of blood vessels. My dad died from this.

Katla - that is so funny!
Just getting ready to go and do laundry then swing my Kettlebell. Another busy weekend coming up. Saturday we will be driving to Las Vegas to meet my son, daughter-in-law and adult grandchildren. It's so nice to live in Arizona because we are less than a half day away from many exciting locations. We found an excellent place for Shep while we are away. From 6:30 until seven he gets to socialize with dogs and people. We also get to view him on a video live stream cam. He was there last weekend while we were in Sacramento and I was watching him for about 10 minutes when I realized I was watching another dog I finally found him in a different section I'm glad that I had his bandanna on him. There were a couple other large German Shepherd's that looked very similar to him.
Have a great day everyone!

welcome jean so glad you found us! For me, I made small changes I could stick with, no junk food in the house, brush teeth after dinner and keep my hands busy (crafting or puzzling). I found I had to cut caffeine consumption early so I could all asleep easier, very key in stress reduction. Keep checking in, these wonderful wise ladies have tons of stories to share along with wisdom and support. NYKAREN4

I'd never heard of a kettle bell till you all talk of it. I googled it, but I would still be afraid even with no weight in it. My arthritis is so bad in my hands, elbows, wrists and shoulders. Ive had both knees replaced, a hip that needs to be, and back surgery still pending.
If I could give the best advice, it would be not to wait till you are old to make healthy changes. Disease and pain stopped me for too many years. Now I can only do so much. For now, I walk and bend as much as I can without taking medications. Loosing weight has helped, but I've still a ways to go so I can have a better life.
... To our journey...
