Every year in March several old friends from my high school class get together, since several out of towners need to travel home at about that time. Until last year I didn't go - I felt that I looked terrible and didn't want people who remembered me from when I was thin to see me. So last year, I was down fifty pounds, and despite feeling very nervous, I went and had a great time. I was still fat but not the fattest person there and at least I was thin enough that I felt recognizable.
This year I really looked forward to going. That's my NSV, last year I was terrified, this year, I felt like I looked great and wanted everyone to see how much weight I had lost since last time. Met with one person who came in early tonight and he was just struck dumb with admiration, just shook his head in amazement. Seeing the rest of the gang on Saturday and can't wait!41 -
A friend suggested I try pushups on my knuckles (I've got wrist issues from a fracture in one about 10 years ago) so I managed to do 17 or 18 today. 10 days ago, I could only do 8 (on my palms) before I almost fell on my face. It's not an impressive number, but I'm pleased. And I did some Zumba for the first time since my surgery last year, whoo! I missed Zumba more than anything else, post-op, but I haven't been able to do anything intense until now, without pain flaring up.33

Seriously on my 4th set of headphones before finding ones I really like (and they were not cheap).19 -
Nothing to do with any victory regarding size or physical ability, but I didn’t buy any dates last night even though I really wanted to.15

I've only been faithfully doing this for 17 days now. My NSV so far is just learning not to snack, not eating as much junk food and not drinking as much soda. In the last 17 days I've had 3 sodas. 3!!! That's HUGE for me. I used to drink 1L of Diet Pepsi EVERY SINGLE DAY and sometimes more than that!
I have also gone for a walk almost every single day for 17 days. Yesterday I didn't because I was in pretty bad pain BUT I think I earned a day off. LOL.
When I started this 'healthier' living 17 days ago... I could barely walk one block without feeling dizzy, gasping for air and just in general feeling sick. I am now walking 20 minute stretches without too much difficulty (except my legs itching! Which I've been told is because I've been out of shape so long. Looking forward to when that stops! LOL.
I've been drinking 4L or more of water a day and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. The days when I only drink 1L of water I definitely feel the difference in my brain, in my outlook.
Oh! And best NSV victory is that I got the job I wanted, left a job I wasn't terribly happy in and am changing my life in every way possible to be the life I want instead of the life I felt stuck in.62 -
I have been committed to my health for one full year. Now off all meds for T2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Churning out 10,000 steps a day regularly, from the days when a thousand steps was my baseline. Have completed two 5Ks (walking).
Purchased second “interim wardrobe” from consignment shops and donated work clothes for women re-entering the workforce (plus size donations are not common).
Lost 130 lbs. this year under Dr. supervision; 45 to go, then reassess. I’ve never been that weight as an adult.
Every day I read MFP posts. You are like family. Even though my eating is under supervision, my thoughts are not! So reading tips and strategies and accomplishments helps me immensely.
Every day I log. Very few days off program but moving along the next and you have helped with that too.
And every day I appreciate the time you all take to post. Thank you.

My marriage is doing better than it has in years! It's amazing how being more honest with my food and exercise habits have impacted being more honest in my marriage. I've been telling my husband how much I actually weigh instead of being ashamed and isolating because of it.30

Congratulations on all of this - I too made a job change six months ago, which allowed me to really focus on my health for the first time in a very long time. It's so liberating. Keep up the fantastic work!!11 -
Had to work from home yesterday because of the weather. Working from home usually sends me into a tailspin of eating every sweet thing under the sun (in an office setting, I usually stay within socially acceptable behavior - it is bad for your image to shove four cupcakes into your face in front of your CEO, lol). This time around, I stayed completely within my calories, managed to fit in a workout in my home gym during lunch, and snacked on celery sticks and yogurt dip instead of chocolate32

Awesome!!!! I find at home is the HARDEST time to resist so that takes some amazing self control. Good work.4 -

Can't even begin to count how many 5K and 10K shirts I have in my closet from over the years. Now I'm wondering how much I paid in total for all of those events? No matter the cost, totally worth it!9 -

I had a co-worker once that turned all hers into a quilt. She said first they made her thin, then they kept her warm!

My favorite pair of pants are simply too big! My fiance also mentioned that another pair of pants that I own were sagging alot! Also my endurance during the past few workouts has really increased!)17

My scrubs that were a bit tight in December are getting a little too big!18

I made chocolate cake today. Then gluten free chocolate cake for my daughter who is visiting. Then cream cheese chocolate frosting. I had about 4 tablespoons of cake batter and felt queasy. Taking a pass on the rest. The NSV is I do not feel even slightly deprived!!!!22

Completed 5k in 32:12 new personal best for me. I have my first "official" 5k in 3 weeks. Would love to be under 30 minutes. 2 months ago I was happy run/walking
5k in under 45 minutes.22 -

This is a huge NSV! Listening to your body is so important in weight loss. And don't feel guilty. Going hard for 7 weeks is awesome work - you needed a rest for ONE day! When I take mandatory rest breaks, I feel stronger the next time I do my exercise. I'm like you - give it all or nothing; no middle ground!
As you said - you'll wake up the next morning, feeling invigorated and you'll have your oomph back :-D7 -

Didn't have chocolate dessert tonight. Tempted but stayed away. Also managed to almost do a full proper push up, my nose was 1 inch off the ground (measured by a book I had used as my target). My aim for this year was to do 10 proper ones...looks like quite an easy goal now. Hmm time to think of my stretch goal.13

did some spring cleaning yesterday and found one of my “before” jeans as well as last year’s swimsuit bottoms.
size 20 to size 8. more work to do but it’s so cool to be able to see the difference.

This should technically be posted under unexpected results of weight loss but I consider it a NSV. I've noticed in the past 3 weeks that my face looks brighter, that is my skin tone looks more even. I have some mild adult acne scars that are not so visibly anymore. I thought it was just in my head until I compared current pictures to my 2017 photos ( under same lighting condition) and my skin looks much better. I'm not doing anything different for skin care. I thought it was just me, until I watched a weightless video on YouTube last night. The lady on the video mentioned after losing weight she noticed her skin looked lighter. I also noticed that my stretch marks are looking better. I don't think they are disappearing but the skin tone has improved and my stretch marks are not as obvious. I'm thinking the cause of this is my slow weight loss approach. My rate of loss has slowed to once a month after ovulation or TOM and I'm averaging a loss of 1-2lbs in a month. I'm thinking I'm giving my body enough time to adjust to my lower weight.22

I had to get fingerprinted for a background check and they ask for hair/eye color, height/weight etc. I was so freaking proud to put my actual weight. It didn't even occur to me to lie. Such a good feeling26

Today I'm wearing an old but nice dress shirt to work w/ a 16" collar. A year ago I was buying shirts w/ a 18" collar. I can't even remember the last time I fit into this shirt....8 years ago maybe....17

That's awesome. I always lie about my weight when I have to get my license.4 -
We frequently go to a particular theme park. On one of the roller coasters, there's a tunnel that you go through (at very, very low speed) and I used to be able to touch a part of the tunnel's roof, with a bit of a stretch.
We went to the park today and went on the roller coaster. I couldn't touch the bit of the ceiling that I used to be able to touch. I couldn't get near it. It took me a while to realise that this was because I have lost so much fat from my rear end that I'm sat lower down in the seat.45 -
Thanks to my Apple Watch this is a NSV I can track with solid data:
April 2017....... couldn't walk far enough to even track it
Aug 2017........ first tracked walk 1.24 miles @ 25'55" HR 144 BPM
Oct 2017 ........ 2.0 miles @ 20'59" HR 138 BPM
Mar 2018 ....... 2.3 miles @ 19'46" HR 129 BPM
My farthest walk so far is 7.1 miles but the knee won't let me do that too often.35 -
