Ok! I'm in!
I've started the c25k a few times but always flail at week 5! I'm currently on week 4 so should have a 5 km completed by the end of the month. Have done 2 10km runs before so aiming to get back up to that by end of the year!
A local park does timed 5k every day so my goal for march will be 50km and to do a timed 5km on 30th march! ❤️
03/06 - No run as husband was late home from work...
03/07 3.55km
03/08 - 3.95km
03/09 - No run
03/10- rest
03/11- gym - spinning
03/12 -rest
03/13 - 3.5km slowly getting there...

@MNLittleFinn @Teresa502 If I’m still in bed by 4 there’s no way I’d be able to have the energy or motivation to run. Plus less traffic and pollution....can’t beat that.2

So I might be unintentionally tappering this week. Will not get a run in today either. I do have three races on Saturday... so maybe this is a good thing?
Nah.3 -
@BruinsGal_91 that is my favorite running conditions! So beautiful and peaceful to run in the snow. I would wait for the streets to be plowed first though.2
-
@Sparx_81 hopefully being part of this thread will help you get through. A running habit it almost as tough to start as it is to break.2
-
The foot seems healed after 6 weeks off running. But I need to go slow to build. New job assignment is taking my free time and i come home exhausted. This month will be worse yet. Signed up for a 10k in June. I'll keep it very modest and go with 30 this month.
3/3 - 3 miles
3/10 -3.3
3/12 - 2
On the bright side, it is still daylight when I run. Love getting more energy in the evenings with more light.

On my weekday running days, I get up at 4:00 am. Pollution isn't a problem where I run but traffic can be later in the morning. This morning wasn't a run day but I wanted to get up at 4:00 and get a cross-training workout in. It didn't happen so at lunch I changed clothes and went to a circuit training class. I've heard people ask when the best time to workout is. The answer to that is whenever works for you. As long as you do it - It's all good!5 -
I have a stupid question for Garmin users. Specifically FR35. How do I set up an interval run if I want to have a warm up and a cool down? I have set my workout up on the watch and the option is to turn on or turn off the warm up and cool down. I turned both on. When I am actually doing the run do I have to manually stop the warm up to start the intervals? I'm probably not asking my question well and it will probably be easier when I am actually running. I just don't want to lose my data in the middle of my run. Typically when I do a run I just hit start at the beginning and stop at the end and don't mess with any buttons during the run. I guess I'm nervous about deleting my run.0

I don't know about the FR35, but on the 220, you press the lap button at the end of your warm up and the intervals start. Your cool down begins automatically after your last interval (including the rest) ends and then you just stop it at the end of the run like normal.
ETA: To start the run, you have to chose "Do Workout" from the "Intervals" menu. If you just hit start, it will just start a normal run. Again, this is for the FR220, so I don't know for sure that your will be the same.1 -

Thanks @lporter229. Like most things, I am probably overthinking this. LOL0 -

No, it's a good question. i have hit the wrong button many times and messed things up. It doesn't usually end up deleting my run, but it still makes for wacky stats!1 -

Thanks again. There is a "do workout" option so I will be sure to start it that way. I guess I'll give it a try this afternoon and see how it goes.0 -

I didn’t check in all weekend- it was crazy! We went to a really nice resort Friday afternoon with approximately 50 families from my husband’s squadron- it was really nice, banqueted meals, babysitting, seminars... but someone came with the stomach bug and spread it! My son woke up vomiting Saturday night so we left early Sunday morning. I ended up finding out that tons of others were getting sick too. I can’t believe how fast it spread! We were worried it was food poisoning until we found out about the person who came sick.
Anyway, I did some running and while I’m not vomiting my stomach has felt terrible since Sunday- like it’s on the verge of rebelling in both directions especially after eating. Sorry if that’s tmi. I’ve been popping tums like crazy.
Now I need to catch up on 150 posts!

@kevaasen I bought this Salomon, but as I bought it ready for summer, I haven't used it yet. Suffice to say that I know that it fits nicely, but I can't say how it feels until I'm running with it loaded up. In a few months, I intend to use it for my long runs, with the front bottles containing just water so that I can refill at water fountains on the way, and the bladder filled with Tailwind to help me keep going.
Today was a usual Tueday run with seven miles solo, five with the group, and one more as a cool-down. The weird thing is my HR while running solo was down in the 130s, but running even slower with the group saw it jump up into the 150s. I have no idea why...the human body is a strange device at times.

07 - 11.93

Total: 124.74 / 250 miles6 -
6.74 miles with strides tonight.

March goal: 96 miles
3/1: 5 miles
3/4: 9 miles
3/6: 4.1 miles
3/7: 4.6 miles
3/8: 5 miles
3/11: 10.5 miles
3/13: 5 miles (intervals)
43.2/96 miles completed
I finally ran some intervals today. This was the first time I used the interval feature on my Garmin. I liked it better than using timed intervals. But it was a hard workout. I was kind of disappointed that my overall average wasn't faster. I felt like I was working really hard. But I guess even though the fast intervals were faster the slow parts were slower so it averaged out to be about my usual pace.

DauntlessDiva wrote: »@garygse I know a ways back you were looking at hydration packs? Curious did you buy something and if you did your pick and current review of the product. Thanks.
Not that you asked for my two cents... but I love my Orange Mud double quiver. It takes a few runs to get used to it, but damn is it ever more comfortable than a traditional hydration pack! ❤️
Thanks for your recommendation as well as @PastorVincent comments and it will be something to consider. Will be sure to give it a look.
I will say that I did my 20 mile run with 3 bottles in the HydroQuiver and did not notice the weight at all. The big advantage of the HydroQuiver over traditional hydration packs sit that it uses bottles that are easily refillable at water fountains, or etc. Bladders tend to be much harder to deal with. I can easily hold three 25 oz bottles on mine so that is 75 ozs of fluid, and it can be refilled on the run if you pass a water supply.
The two big cons with it are the price and I still worry about chaffing in the summer. But we will see when that comes. This is the one I have:

Did 4k jog/walk tonight on the dreadmill....

First outside run in forevers. Did heavy deadlifts tonight too... but it was 50 degrees, calm, and still light out in March in Wyoming when I was done... so I called the running buddy and we did 1 mile. (She wasn’t going to let me go outside pt instructions so probably good I went with her and not by myself.)
Tonight puts me at 4 for the month. We will find out tomorrow how well tonight’s adventure plus pt circuit does.9 -

Getting up at 0130 would be epic. Getting up at 0300 is still pretty awesome. That's about an hour before I get up for my weekday runs. Great job!
Y'all are awesome... I struggle getting up at 0630 for my weekday runs (I work a creative job and nobody raises an eyebrow when I come sauntering in at 1030). Earliest I ever got up for running was 0330 for a summer trail run at dawn with a bunch of crazy people. My hat goes off to anybody who gets up before 7 consistently.@kevaasen I bought this Salomon, but as I bought it ready for summer, I haven't used it yet. I think I just bought the exact same thing sans bladder. It's still sitting in its box near the door... will probably take it for a stroll next week.

Ugh... this month's mileage is just going to the dogs. Got to the gym pretty late yesterday and only had time for 2k on the treadmill and then it was to the barbell... still had the sweeper wait up for me as she had to lock up. Good news is, it's supposed to clear up tonight which means a proper run is in the books for tomorrow morning.

Isn't that really hot though? It looks like your upper body is basically encased in a waterproof jacket.0 -
Hi all. I have been reading along but haven't been running though I did try. Finally a week after my fall I went to the ER the doctor was like wow you are tough, I have 4 broken ribs. I said can I run in my half marathon in 3 weeks he said oh definitely not. I said can I walk it. He said I don't recommend it, if you fall again you can re damage them. I said but I can add running as I feel better. He said I have a feeling you won't listen but you shouldn't run until June. WTF are you kidding.18
