Well ... its not a group, it's an open thread, and thus we don't actively include anyone. The way you get into it is just to post and keep coming back to post some more on another day.
It is for people who have to lose at least 100 pounds from their start weight. Some of the people currently posting are somewhere along that journey and don't have that much to lose any longer, others have just begun recently (say, since January) and so might still have at least 100 pounds to lose.
Speaking strictly for myself, a profile image of photo is nice to see when people post. You don't have to post your face if you want to be anonymous, you can post an Avatar or any image that speaks to you so that we can identify you more easily every time you share on here.

Wow this looks like a great thread. I'm new to the Community and looking to find others like me needing to lose around 100 lbs.4

Hello this is great the idea of putting all your information out for other people to see and putting your weight down each week so that you're being held accountable I need this .3

I've had a heck of a week. Tuesday morning I got a phone call that my 16 year old son was in a car accident. I will say up front that he's ultimately okay. The car is done, but we can replace a car.
When my husband called he said he was okay but because he hit his head he was taking him to the ER. "You don't have to come" Well, I gotta go, right? I walked in and he had blood from his hairline to his eyeball. He ended up with the equivalent of rug burn from his hairline to his eyebrow. He had a slight cut on his eye lid that got stitched up. He had a concussion. His chest hit the steering wheel so that's all bruised (he was leaning forward wiping the fog from the window when he ran into the back end of a 1988 Chevy pick up -- the Chevy won!). He also has little muscle tears on his back from the whiplash. The concussion is our biggest concern because 2 years ago he got a major concussion while playing football that took 4 weeks to resolve. So we're watching him rather closely.
So ultimately, I've eaten crappy food this week. Sunday was the start of a "good" week and one that I'm focused on me for. Got my protein shakes first thing both mornings so far and my water bottle by my side.
Oh and if you haven't seen it, #GameNight is worth the fee of the movie ticket.5 -

Monday Check-in ...
Well, I'm officially 73 years old now, and have started my 'new year' with a reassessment of my weight loss 'program', my statistics, and wrote an modification to the plan I've been following. This was a milestone birthday for me because I attained the goal of "My Progress" ticker showing 0 pounds to go, which I proudly shared with last weeks weight report. I made a new progress tracker ...
And, I reset my goals in MFP ... still aiming to lose 1/2 pound a week from caloric intake deficits. I look at my calorie counts on a daily basis and have a goal of keeping the weekly average at that number.
Here is what MFP says for me now ...
NEAT (to stay the same, sans exercise) 1870 calories a day.
Calorie intake goal 1620 a day.
My weekly average intake remains at 1650 until June due to the commitment I made on 1/1/18. However, I don't 'eat back' any exercise calories, so it should be ok and I 'll reset it when July 1 gets here, and I do follow that plus/minus 100 calorie a day fudge on the intake that we did on this thread back when I first joined in.
I also updated my accountability promise to get in more physical activity ... Now that winter is almost over and the Spring sun is going to become more present I am recommitting to getting walks in ... this is what it is ...
"Get in 3 walks a week, work up to 5; inside, outside, any where I can."
@Tracy, Sorry about your son's car accident. Hope he has no issues from the concussion. I can just image how you felt when you heard the news ... like jumping out of your skin.
@Mayve, my St. Patrick's Day green food was Split Pea Soup. I like that touch to your weekly report, of including whose weigh-in you picked up.
Thanks everyone who wished me a happy birthday ....
Have a 'good' week.4 -

Sorry, I keep on missing the weigh-ins! I have horrible sweet cravings at the moment. I guess because I am tired and have a hard time drinking enough water. Winter has come back and that doesn't help either. I hope I will get used to skipping sweets soon. Or sleep better. And drink more. At least it gets easier to have fresh local greens for meals!4 -
Hey guys, I fell off the band wagon and have done an awful job at logging in. I need to make my self accountable and I think joining a group challenge will help. Is it too late to join the Think Spring Challenge?3
-
@jules81 Yes. Absolutely. Visit this post regularly for support and encouragement. It can be so disheartening to see a gain on the scales. Many here have lost weight. Many have lost and gained back (me for one and I'm not alone) But we are all committed to losing. So post. Be honest. Pick a method that works for you. Tracking on MFP is a great way to ward off overdoing it (or overdoing it by WAY too much as I am prone to do when I don't track). Welcome.2
-
@canyonGeek Love your green salad And thanks for tracking our journey this challenge.2
-
@NewCaddy I am sorry to hear about your son. Young'ens getting drivers licenses is so stressful! At least it was for me. I am glad he walked away but please know the concussion piece remains in my thoughts with all my best wishes coming your way. Sounds like he's gonna be achey for a while. Stress is definitely a trigger for me for eating.... sweets. But each day begins anew. You are resilient. Good job getting focus back.2

To all: What is onderland? I keep reading that word and thinking "next time I'll get it"...2

Started week 2 of my fitness plan, and it was a little harder mentally to go back after taking a few days off. I felt terrible all day Sunday after my crappy eating Saturday. Back on track today, feeling good, and thankful for all the support in this group. I hope everyone has a good week!4

@NewCaddy sorry to hear about the accident. I’m glad to hear your son is okay. Having a teen driver is scary I think that is where all my grey hair came from.
@Nikion901 Congrats on meating your goal
i’m starting to get bored with food options,so focusing on eating at home. otherwise I will fall off track for eating out has more options to tempt me with.1 -
This morning on my home page I spotted a couple of blogs in the side bar that I like to follow. One is called @The_Movie_Chair and the other is @dsjohndrow . If you ever notice their posts, I highly recommend you to read them. They are very eloquent and easy to read. Both have expressed 'things' that were experienced by me as well .. in fact, sometimes reading what was said is like they are telling my own story. It helps to know, just like with our own sharing on this thread, that others have been through the exact same thing ... and that if they can do this, so can "I".3
-
@NewCaddy So sorry to hear about your son's accident. I've been exactly in your shoes many years ago. That terrifying phone call. Concussions are scary, teen-age drivers are scary. It would be so great if we could protect our kids forever. He's fine though, and that is all that's important. Cars can be replaced. Best wishes to him for a speedy total recovery.
@Niki0n901 How cool to have met your goal and now you are off and running towards a new one. That is so awesome. Age is just a number, or so I'm told. I'm not too terribly far behind you.
So many new people on the thread. Welcome to all of you. Thanks @canyongeek for keeping the stats for the group's challenge. Great week everyone. Here's to another one!5 -
Hey all, just a quick update- I might be absent for a bit, going to try and keep logging in and staying on track if I can but might not be able to follow plan or weigh in. My stepmom lost her battle with cancer yesterday and I'm getting on a plane in a little while to be with my Dad for the unforeseen future.
I'm obviously dealing with grief and not making it back in time and travel anxiety about being away from my babies and supportive husband here in Michigan. I'm a nervous flyer and it's been 16 years since I got on a plane alone without my husband's hands to hold.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted- He's an ever present help and comfort in times of sorrow. I'm praying I rely on God and close family for comfort instead of food and old habits. Grateful for this group and outlet where I can really share the nitty gritty reality of battling for healthy habits- mind body and soul.5 -
I know it’s not Wednesday, but I wish that when you did well for a day you’d immediately see some type of movement on the scale. Thank you to everyone for your wishes/prayers for my son. He’s doing pretty good as far as the head goes…body is slowly mending as well thanks to a very good chiropractor.
@Niki – happy birthday (belated)
@Holly – for the most part I’m not much of a worrier with Jacob as he’s a responsible kid – except homework. He even reminds me not to use my phone while driving. Based on personalities, Emma will be a different story.
@kbeyer23 – sorry to hear about your stepmom. Prayers for you and your family while you learn the new “normal” without her physically here.
AFM…I’m really struggling with the exercising. My sister is available late at night and I just want to be done by then. I’ve got to figure out a plan. I’m not great without a workout partner but I just don’t think this 9:00 at night is going work for me either.
Gearing up for a big week/weekend. My choir is doing an Easter Cantata on Palm Sunday. We have practices Wednesday and Thursday. Then we sing Saturday evening and twice on Sunday morning. I know to make sure I have my water bottle full.

@newcaddy Love that pic! So motivating! Finding the right mode of exercise can be a real challenge. Perhaps there's a group fitness class? I find classes get me there (cause I'm paying) and offer the chance to socialize a bit which takes the pain out of the work out. If not, there are plenty of online options where you can just plug in when it works for you. Just a good walk can do wonders. I'm amazed at how my neighbor just threw on her sneakers and started walking. She dropped a lot of weight!
@kbeyer23 Condolences. By now you have probably survived the flight. Hoping there are moments of happy memories shared amongst those your stepmom called family and friends.
@Nikion901 Yet another nice lead to helpful info. Tx. And def. of Onderland -- I never would've guessed!
Good news -- I weighed 230 today. Heading in the right direction. Nothing like a good health scare to set me straight. Works every time.
