Katie, the bathroom looks amazing! I love the accent tile that you chose! I have similar as my kitchen backsplash. More greys and whites than the brown, but just such a nice style of tile!3

Hi Gals,
Rye – I am delighted you shared your ramblings, and the insight for us and for you about living with and embracing your disabilities. I was sad to hear the “can’t s” and wished for more of “I do it this way that’s what works for me”. Pouring with a ladle or over the sink is ALWAYS my go to, as I would much rather wipe down the sink than clean up a mess… Super glad to hear that Kidd Kirby is turning the corner to a healthier space.
Heather – thinking of you, honest conversation about tough subjects with folks that may not want to hear it is very hard.
Michele – I have a lemonade cookie recipe that is amazing – not diet friendly and a bit additive, but really good, happy to share if you’re interested.
A few comments on funeral/wakes/celebration of life issues made me think, plus some of the choices my family has made on both sides of the family as a belief (not religious, just their way) that death and the time after is private and not to be shared or talked about, so no funeral, no party, no celebrations, and preferably no crying or outward sign of emotion, emotion if needed in the home only, this event is private. I know having grown up in this family, that there is a lot of dysfunction – a lot of unfinished business within relationships. In talking to my cousins, we have all missed hearing stories about our loved ones, and families in my generation and younger, are slowing embracing the value of having some sort of celebration for those that are here needing to figure out a way to move forward when someone important to us is gone. For me while, I might make suggestions of what I would like, my real wish is that those who are here after I am gone do whatever will help the living.
Sharon – sending hugs!!!
Kelly – you go girl!!! Great boundary setting and follow through
Penny - make the deadline a year from now and 40x the money…. Then maybe…
Lisa – the insight from your “lecture?” was that you get right back on the path after you took a detour… I think that is the trick for all of us which ever eating plan we are adopting, that when we take a detour we return to the route as quick as we can…
Carol in GA – I learned that many dogs have Corn allergies, and it’s a filler in a TON of dog food and biscuits… might be worth checking on.
Katie – looks great

Hi I'm Melanie and returning to using Fitness Pal. My short goal for the rest of the month is to log everything every day and get back in the habit again.
And I'm hoping for actual Spring to arrive in the Northeast, to get outside to walk!6 -
Barbara SWSY! Of course! Thank you.
Heather I was wondering what your sons' relationship with your father was like. I was trying to put myself in your place, and I realized how much harder it would be to 'go there' if my son and my father had had a very close grandfather/grandson relationship.
Trish This thread has been going on for years. No way you can get it all figured out! So - yes, just plunge right in! Welcome!
Katie That bathroom turned out gorgeous. Wow. I am not a big fan of brown, but that bathroom is so beautiful, and it's warm and welcoming!
Ginger So lovely to see your post. xo
Meg We are right here. For you. We have broad shoulders. (((Hugs)))

I'm on call this weekend. already have 6 patients, two that are admissions. Way too much work for one person. This has me so depressed. This is when I have to really beware of stress eating. And, if something comes up they will not think twice about adding another patient to the list. I went grocery shopping and bought some healthy food choices so as not to mess up because I don't have the food in my house while i'm so busy. I can't respond to too many of you but my thoughts are with all of you. I have paperwork to do from work.
Sharon...i'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I went through the same thing twice now. I know that my ex-husbands both used me the same way.
Leorna happy birthday
Okie..congrats on your weight loss.8 -
(((Sharon))) I hope things work out so that you're happy, and I hope that is sooner rather than later.
Allie: I hope you end up in a good situation once the divorce is final and the dust settles. You deserve a gold medal for putting up with Tom as long as you did, and I think the gold should come directly out of his pocket. :flowerforyou;
Ginger: I'm sorry for the loss of your brother in law.
DH went to the doctor because of digestive troubles and now has a whole new eating regime. I am so happy about this. He was eating garbage and feeling the negative fall out. Now he is headed in a healthier direction. Yay!!! The cost of this is cooking two meals, one for each of us, since he has to eat stuff that doesn't sit well with me. The other choice is to be a bit smarter and cooke some that works for me and some that works for him and the main course that we both enjoy. We'll figure it out and eventually win.

Thanks for the bathroom compliments. The wall color is called Mega Greige by Sherwin Williams. It has one coat already. It looks a little darker in the picture than it does in person. I’m not a fan of brown either. I don’t really see brown when I look at the floor tile. I see taupe, which is a shade of brownish gray, I guess, but i like it better than chocolate brown. The grout color in the floor is silver. The shower floor is going to be gorgeous. He laid it out but then took it up to grout the walls, and I didn’t get a picture.6

Ginger, condolences on your BIL’s passing.
There’s more I wanted to comment on, but I’ve forgotten it.
Here’s a sneak peak of the bathroom remodel. I’ll post more when it’s completely done. I have hope that the end is in sight. The shower door install, just got pushed from Monday to Wednesday because the floor is not set or grouted. The walls need one more coat of paint, and the hardware needs to be installed. It’s close!

Did Zuka Power Cardio Disk 3 DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds DVD. This is a new one I got so I want to be sure it works OK.
Lenora – why were you mortified when you mother asked “where did this happen”? Seems like a reasonable question to me.
Joyce – definitely talk to your doctor before decreasing any meds
Well, for some reason, every time you open my car door, the alarm goes off. Vince tried disconnecting the battery and lots of other things, but we need to take it to the Mazda dealer. So we have an appt in about half an hour. It’s just annoying. You can’t open your door without that darn alarm going off. Update: We took it to the Mazda dealer and they determined that the hood sensor went bad. So the car was always thinking that the hood was open. They’re ordering a new sensor and I should have the car back by tomorrow. We’re also going to have them put in a new cabin filter. What’s there is probably the original one so it’s about time.
Finished the Diamond Dotz of a cat. Now just have a book with a thing of cat litter on top of it for weight so that hopefully the dots will stay put. Next have to buy a frame. It really was pretty simple to do. I do think I’ll make one for Jess for Christmas.
Sharon – your mom did a fantastic job on your dress. I am so so sorry for you finding that text. My heart breaks for you, I can’t get over that Larry did that to you! What a fool he is (sorry). I’m glad you’re going to a lawyer. Lean on us all you need to. I always say that we exercise and so we have broad shoulders
Okie – congrats on the loss
Went and put the down payment on the room for the magician show. Yes! We got it in this fiscal year. Then stopped at Home Depot to see about renting a trencher to extend the drainpipes in the front yard. What would Vince do if he didn’t have me suggesting things like “let’s stop at HD”, I don’t know. I really wanted to go to Jess’ this weekend but I don’t think Vince wanted to.
KJ – sometimes I wonder if our kids will ever grow up. Denise gave Jess a picture (framed) of her and Jess at Denise’s wedding. She also gave Jess a box of Cosequin for Shadow (her cat). Yesterday was Jess’ birthday and Denise called to ask Jess if she got her Christmas gifts. Now, mind you, they weren’t wrapped. How was Jess to know that they were Christmas gifts? Now Denise is saying that she’ll make sure she gives Jess something next year that is more to her liking. HUH? Why didn’t you wrap the presents in the first place? Of course, Jess calls to vent to us. Don’t know what Denise is going to do. Update: she called to vent, but not as much as Jess
Becca – I love your posts
Ginager – sincere sympathies on the loss of you BIL. Hope you feel better soon.
Trish – welcome! “Jumping in” is the way to go!
Kim – yes, yes, yes, please share that lemonade cookie recipe with me. I have one lemonade cookie recipe, but it sure doesn’t hurt to have more than one!
Melanie – welcome back! Logging food is probably the first step. You go girl!
Katla – yea for your hubby’s new way of eating! In one sense I wish Vince would have to eat better.
Katie – your bathroom reminds me a lot of ours. We have the inset for shampoo, etc in the shower and a row of color like you have. We even have a whirlpool!

Ginger, sorry to hear about your BIL. ((Hugs))
Allie, keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well and isn’t drawn out longer. You deserve to move on.
Katie, love the bathroom. We have a small bathroom so can’t do a whole lot with it. Can’t do wait to see the pictures of it and finished.
Going to start some spring cleaning tomorrow. We have a sleep number bed and the top cover has ripped again. Going to see if I can jerry rig something to fix it. Can’t afford the outrageous cost of a new one.
Well off to sleep land.

On the run- so another drive by post. Kidd Kirby is on the mend- YAY!
As for me, it is going to be crazy busy between now and Easter so I’ll check in when I can. Sending warm thoughts to all,

So we did it!! We filled out the application for that 5 bedroom rental house!! Son video chatted with us as he walked around the home. Its huge!! There is a small sun room that over looks the backyard. The backyard is tiered somewhat with low rock walls/ beds. When our son was walking towards the back part of the yard he came upon a deer! Wildlife!! Saying we're excited is an understatement!
Next month we might be sitting in our new place!

Good evening ladies a.though it is almost 10 PM. I am finally thinking it may be spring. It's only in the 50's today but there isn't any breeze today and has been quite comfortable. So I am happy!!!!!!! I am watching a show that I enjoyed eons ago and saw a commercial for it again and I can't believe Tradimg Spaces is back on! So I have watched 4 episodes of it tonight! I may just put it on series record on my DVR.
Well today I have just taken my Lyrica 2 capsules every 8 hours. I'm not loopy but I'm not pain free either.
Sharon, I am so sorry this is happening. When you are a little girl and dream about that man, oh that man. He is going to be perfect and you dream about your wedding and your dress. Everything is going to be perfect. At first it is. But that is the honeymoon effect. Then work, kids, life gets in the way of that perfect marriage you envisioned when you were a girl. So your own disappointment is part of this. But if I were there I would kick him it the butt. And dear Sharon, you need a major hug. That kind of hug that just doesn't end, the kind that my brother gives. I will be in your pocket as you go to the lawyer and in the days, weeks and months ahead.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBIE!!! :drinker:  :flowerforyou:
Drkatie - Great bathroom! It seems to have taken a long time, you must be dying to get it finished completely.
Karen - My father was a very nice man. Charming - like many paedophiles. The grandchildren all loved him. He did a similar thing to his only granddaughter that he did to me. She also went badly wrong in her teens. He was a religious man, a lay reader, a primary school teacher and a Cub Scout master. We didn't live near my parents, but the boys certainly knew him well and were fond of him.
I thought the worst thing would be destroying their image of him, but my DDIL seemed to feel that it's more the fact that I am their mother. I think she is imagining a more dramatic abuse. Mine was insidious and very mind bending.
Eventually, when I was 27, he was arrested for touching up a girl in his classroom. I went to the court case. I was pregnant with my first child. He was fined and lost his job. In 1976. Today it would be a prison sentence. There was a huge pile of letters from parents of girls in his class saying how wonderful they thought he was and how they would have him teach their daughters any day. The Vicar spoke for him.
People were very ignorant in those days. A predatory paedophile can be a charming, lovely, wouldn't hurt a fly, kind of man. I think we are beginning to know better.
The memoir I have written only covers my first 9 years. I was more aware of the way the world saw my father in my teens, so I might save A Very Nice Man for that. My DH thinks this book is more about the child I was and the terrible damage he caused to my growing soul.
Sorry for the exposition!
Yesterday I was intending to have 250 mls white wine with dinner. I stopped after 125 mls! I'm now reading my 5th alcohol book and I'm on my 14th running book.
Ginger - So sorry about your BIL. He sounds like a nice man. I too am a great believer in "the truth will set you free".

Happy Birthday Wishes Barbie!! insert line dancing emojis here, may your birthday weekend be just what you want it to be.
Becca exciting news, keeping fingers crossed that the rental goes through, sounds absolutely wonderful.
Kim you are very insightful about your childhood and how that impacts rituals around funerals, dealing with grief. I guess for me, growing up and away from my family's dysfunction, I've had the good fortune of seeing how others celebrate things and deal with stress like grief. I remind myself that I can make other choices and have done so as best I can as an adult.
I'm getting back on track, once choice at a time. Today I'm visiting a gym for my DH to try out, should be fun.

My husband is in an induced coma in Intensive Care and has been for the past 48 hours or so. They're going to keep him in the induced coma for at least another 60 hours ... they keep pushing it out.
He had a fall at work, hit his head, and there was bleeding on the brain. His coworkers possibly saved his life by acting quickly with first aid. He was airlifted into town, and rushed into surgery. They had trouble getting ahold of me, and I got there just before they took him into surgery. They let me walk up with them, then told me to tell him I love him and good bye.
That was about 48 hours ago.
Fortunately the surgery went well. Basically they installed a monitor to keep an eye on the pressure in the brain. If the pressure had been a lot, they would have had to remove half his skull, but it fell within the normal range (although high normal), and so they've opted to install this monitor and put him into an induced coma for some time.
Yesterday they had him lightly sedated, and he was showing good movement on his left side, but less so on his right. Today they decided to put him into deep sedation. I just need to trust that the neurologists are doing the best they can for the best outcome.
They've warned me that there's a good chance his speech will be affected, and possibly also behaviour. I'm hoping that maybe because the pressure isn't too high the effects won't be too bad.
I've been spending long periods of time in the hospital, not eating (I've lost 2 kg in 3 days) and sleeping fitfully. I do come home each night, but it's just so sad here without him. I miss him so much.
The next month ... or more maybe? ... are going to be very uncertain.
