WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR MARCH 2018

Happy Thursday. I am back to working 50+ hours a week as I had to let someone go. This is the first time I have done that since I have become supervisor. She had been talked to several times and given warnings but just would not change and when she went after a co-worker she left us no choice. So until we can get someone hired and trainned I will be filling in a lot of her hours. I just hope I do not have to do that again anytime soon
Barbie--Glad to hear Jake is doing well.
Becca--Great news that he got to go to regular room and not ICU.
Allie--The person Tom should be upset with is his lawyer for drawing things out so long. Stay strong! Hope DGD is feeling better. DH is just getting over the crud and it took almost a week before he would go to the doctor and when he did they told him if he would of come in sooner they could of given him tamaflu, I got to tell him told you so.
Lisa--I would ask DD does she want the surgery here with her own doctors or take the chance of something happening in some other country and have to deal with health care there. I know for me I would want it done here.
Beth--What an adventure. Glad you both got home ok.
Another beautiful day here in the 60's. Planning to go get my nails done when I get off work. They are talking about rain and snow this weekend. Gotta love the weather.

Beth (((((HUGS)))) I too would have downed a whole pie. So glad you made it home safely after that ordeal!

Beth! That sounds horrible. Maybe something you will be able to laugh about in the future, but I would have been a wreck by time I got home!

Hi Sisters, Beth, I DO have a sense of humour and I think maybe your husband will eventually look back on this episode and get a laugh out of it. I did! (Not so funny at the time, but improves with distance.)
Barbie, and any others who are scanning old pics, what scanner do you use? I remember vaguely a previous discussion but did not note it down...
Off to the office today, going to walk Jock first. Am going to try to get a fast started today. Tired of being fat and the old pics motivated me! Sometimes it's hard to get my fast started but once I am on it I can maintain it for awhile. So hoping today is the day! Wendy3 -
Hi! I am going to bookmark this. I am ALMOST 50- not until June, but I feel like I do not really belong to the 40's anymore. Restarting AGAIN on MFP. I have my son graduating this summer and my health to think about! Willing to be added as a friend to anyone out there. My goal is to post most every day.
I am a mom of three - two girls and boy. 25, 22 and 18. Work full time in office. Enjoy outdoors - hiking and camping. But also enjoy sitting in my chair and watching the birds outside (:7 -
Jake will be discharged today. The surgeon came in and told us more details about the surgery. The next adventure will be my driving us home and Jake doing his best to keep quiet and not tell me how to drive
Beth hugs to you
Wendy our HP printer is also a scanner and copier and fax

Beth, I’m so glad you were safe after your adventure. Yikes!
Dance4fun0617 & brennerjib, welcome! You can do it girls.
Vicki, 50 hours a week?! It’s so hard when employees don’t work out.
Barbie, glad to here Jake was discharged. Stay safe going home.
Mary, well, I did it. I did day 1 of the 4 week kettlebell plan you posted the beginning of March. I used 8lbs and didn’t quite make it through the last 2 sets of the swings. Afterwards my legs were so rubbery I could hardly walk. They are still rubbery. I’m sooo out of shape. But it’s a start. There were only 2 others using the gym when I went. I thought going at 2pm maybe no one would be there but no such luck. Maybe I’ll have to do it at home and then I can pop in the shower afterwards. I sweat so much. I’ll figure it out. The only question I have is what happen after week 2. I’m assuming I continue to increase the swings and the squats stay the same? I’m thick when it comes to stuff like this. Usually I’m not this dense. Really, I’m not.
Well back to work, Terry7 -
Day 2: he's sleeping now. Earlier, he walked using a walker, from his bed to the entrance of his room, made a turn and sat back down. He doesn't like the way his epidural meds make his head feel. It is an opioid based med, and he will want to get that off as soon as possible. Not that he's ever misused it, he just doesn't like pain meds in general. His body looks like its been thru hell! Hopefully he'll get his catheter out tomorrow. Everything takes time.
Ate that same sandwich that I described yesterday! I am not eating all my bird food I brought! But in this small way, I'm being cared for. I told the people behind the counter, thanks for feeding me!

Sue in TX: A six-hour dental appointment sounds exhausting and unpleasant. I hope you are getting rest and feel better today. :flowerforyou:
Heather: You are lucky to be married to your DH for loads of reasons. It is especially good of him to read your book in progress and help with positive suggestions and ideas.
Lanette: We let the cleaning lady that we had earlier this year go. She wasn't consistent with our agreed schedule, rushed though our house, left pictures hanging kitty-wampus, and charged us a high price for a few hours of rushed and substandard work. We have a new pair of cleaners coming in next week. We are hopeful that this is a better match. We found them through the same beautician who helped us find the dog sitter who stayed in our house & took care of our dog during our trip. Keeping our fingers crossed. This will be a couple of hours every other week. :flowerforyou:
Beth: After that horrible car situation I'd have eaten the whole pie and probably followed it with copious alcohol consumption. (Bad idea, though.) Your DH was awesome support. :flowerforyou:
dance4fun: Welcome to a great group. You seem to be off to an excellent start. My best advice is to let MFP set your calorie allowance, measure your portions using a scale or measuring cups, and choose foods that give you energy & help you feel good. Log every bite and swallow. No exceptions.
Vicki GI,NE: You did a great job dealing with the poor worker. I'm sorry that it left you stuck with a heavy work load until you can find a good replacement.
Wendy: Our son did a bunch of scanning for us and used an Epsom Perfection V600 scanner. It is a slow process--one photo at a time. Ours doesn't have any sort of automatic feeder that I know of. The quality was fabulous. :flowerforyou:
Barbie: Sending gratitude for surgical success and loads of patience for your trip home.
Becca: It sounds as though surgery was a big success & things are progressing in a good way. Yay!
Yoga today was harder work than I thought it would be. I've made every move countless times before, but being gone for weeks when we travelled, and then having the classes reduced to two days a week, I am noticing that I've lost a bit of strength & flexibility. We're hoping to recruit another teacher so that more days can be added back. The health club owner seems to be leaving it for the current teachers & class members to deal with.

Becca, good progress. It’s amazing how quickly they get you up and walking. Good thoughts for continued progress.

Just shoveled snow. DH wanted to do it but I wouldn’t let him because his back was already in pain. We have so much snow that I ran out of room to put it. We are in trouble if we get another storm. As you can see in these pictures, the snow is up to the deck so no where to put the snow that’s on the deck. Made a tiny path to the wood shed and hardly had room to put that.

I sometimes come across DH on his walk as I run round. I feel a bit embarassed as I am sooooooo slow, but he is always very encouraging.
Came back to find the removal estimate guy had arrived early. He seemed very nice/young/attractive. Took him round the house and in the annexe we showed him the gigantic old tv we had failed to carry downstairs. He offered to help DH and between them they shifted it into the car. The most difficult thing in the house is the three exercise machines, which are BIG and HEAVY. Might need an extra van for those.
So all good. DH is ploughing on with reading my memoir. I am editing, using his corrections and suggestions. Then I remember an episode that I haven't included, so I'm going to have to add that. He says I could be clearer with the sequence in the early part and he's not sure about the title. All good suggestions.
Lanette - Bea goes to a little playschool a few hours a week, with the nanny. She will be part time at a nursery soon. Edie goes to a nursery for a couple of days and a morning. She starts school in September, when she is five. Their wonderful nanny is planning to leave at Christmas. Don't know what DDIL and DS will do then. They will still need some help, especially during the school holidays. They need a KJ.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Terry - I bet your snow shoveling (and KJ's too) more than makes up for lack of kettle bells. I did a little shoveling this spring - I think we had 6" a month ago and that snow was heavy!
Come on spring!

Just touching base here. I need prayers and good vibes. I had a big anxiety setback and while I am trying to stabilize DH shows me his blood sugar levels and they look bad. I feel pretty lost right now. Wanted to lose weight for my birthday but this is not the way to do it.
