March goal: Run END-SURE well, stay healthy and enter the final stages of Zumbro training
Nominal mileage goal: Let's say 140? I really don't know. Real plan is to follow training and coach's advice well.

Total: 190.2
Today's notes: Taking an unplanned rest day today. My right glute and the outside of my right knee were both hurting after the 50k yesterday. This morning they weren't much better, so I decided to take an extra rest day. Today's assignment was just 45min Easy trail run, so I'm not missing out on much.

3/24- END-SURE 50k
4/13- Zumbro Endurance Race 100 Mile
7/28- Minnesota Voyageur 50
9/8- Superior Trail 50 mile
10/20- Wild Duluth 50k

With a week to go in the month I did my longest run in many years and put in 10 miles this morning. This put me back on pace to reach my goal for the month despite a lot of non running days. 6 days for another 10 miles should be no issue

No run for me this morning. My back is still hurting and just walking is uncomfortable. I'm going to try to just rest today and hope that I will be able to ease back into running soon and that this won't set me back too far. I still have 8 weeks until my HM.5

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! @RunsOnEspresso it is hot and humid here, so I'm dealing with both.0

Three nights on the trot out boozing is not conducive to running
Dragged myself out of bed finally today, after a very late night of partying, compounded by the clocks going forward. I know running cures all evils but did I have to give myself such evils in the first place!!
Six miles felt good, and I'm glad I'm sticking to my current training regime. My hips are hurting a bit now which I suspect is down to me wearing heels all evening.4 -
A nine mile run for me this morning. It's my first run over 10k since my half marathon back in November. Plenty of other runners out and about in the snow and lots of encouraging waves and a 'good job' from the runners running down Heartbreak Hill while I was running up it.
I was nearly home when I realised my run would be less than nine miles, so I added a couple of turns, ran against the tangents, and ran to the top of the street and back again to hit 9:01 miles. My husband was looking out of the window watching my antics and laughing his head off at me.14 -

I had to run past my house to the top of the street to get at least six miles. It never used to bother me until joining this thread!!!0 -

I think we all have done it many times. It is annoying to load your run log for the day and see 6.99 miles or something.3 -
@Tacklewasher When is your HM? With mileage like that, it's gotta be close. Unless those are KM.1
-
I have been insanely busy and haven't been able to read posts. I am so far behind I will never catch up on reading it all. I have now lost 102lbs (although ticker says 75 as I lost some before joining) I am now out of the 200lbs + club. And today, I jogged for 1.5 miles without having having to walk. To me this is huge as 6 months ago going up a flight of stairs damn near killed me.

Top left corner of the spreadsheet.
KM
I'm Canadian.
HM is mid-june.
For *kitten*'s and giggles I stepped on the scale right after my run. 201.7 down from 203.5 first thing this morning.4 -

Just got back from the 6th Annual Centanni-Cottle Memorial Run. I was soo tired that as soon as i crossed the finish line i turned and started my run home. I knew that if i sat down to catch my breath i wouldnt have the energy to get up and make the trek home. lol. This was a really cool race. It started off with 3 different military tankers rolling in and we got to see just how many people those things can hold. I swear it was like a clown car. lol. Then the LAPD swat and tactical helicopter flew overhead...i forget what maneuver they said it was doing but it was f**king awesome. It flew so close at first i thought it was going to land. lol. There were 4 different military units there, 2 different swat team plus 3 different police explorer units. If something were to go down, i was in the right spot to be protected. lol.
I again started towards the back. The front was all military and police and i knew i wouldnt be able to keep up with them but i also didnt want to be in their way.The route was pretty much the same one i do on my longer runs so i was pretty pumped that i would make decent time but of course when everyone hit the first hill which wasnt even a mile in people just stopped, either to slowly walk to the sidewalk or to wait for someone. ugh. lol. after the first hill i decided to slow my pace some because we were coming to the downhill part which was at mile 1, so as i come to the bottom of the hill, check my pace and see i ran that mile in 10:30..umm too fast. lol. So when we hit the flat part i decided to slow down a little more cuz i was realizing i was pushing myself harder than i needed to. My last few races my paces has been around 11:22-12 minute miles. So i think ive slowed my pace down enough as my chest were no longer tingling ( thats how i determine if im pushing too hard) Hit mile 2 and my pace is still 10:30. So at this point i realize i have a little over a mile left and im making killer time. lol. I tried to keep pace with a older gentleman but with .5mi to go my right arm starting tingling and going numb so i power walked till the last 100 meters and then i gave it my all. According to my watch this was my best time 33:41 but their course map shows that it was 3.5mi. Didnt stick around to see where i placed as i knew i wouldnt be getting an AG award. Now to get ready for next weekend events.18 -

My new shoes are here!
Altra Lone Peak 3.5 Men's Trail Running Shoe
Tried them on real fast, just walked around the kitchen. The 0 Drop will take some getting used to, it almost feels like I am rocking back on my heels when I just stand up straight. Hope to get out in them on a trail soon to see how they fit for real.9 -
March Running Update

Week 2: 53.7

Similar week as last week - travel, travel delays (again) and dealing with left foot plantar issue. 6 weeks till big day. Someone posted a video on my strava account which is a great video on commitment. I like a couple of lines and one specifically about the difference between the pig and chicken. I am the pig!!

Beautiful sunny day today! Went out for a long hike with the dog this morning, the trails were snowy but packed down so it was mostly easy (some breakthrough and some slick areas though). It was a little chilly at first but the sun warmed it up and just felt so good that I didn't mind. Just finished a short run also, with the temps up around 40 - a nice change. Hopefully most of the week will be as good.
Congrats on races everyone who ran!

Made my March goal with a distance PR today! It was a little chilly but sunny—not too chilly to run in short sleeves, though! I think my very slow 1.3 yesterday and concerted efforts to keep my HR down this week and last really helped my take this one super easy. I was at 11:00 pace, and much more comfortable than when I’ve done my long runs at 10:15 or 10:30. I can’t remember who used the image of a gear shift here—the point was about breathing, but I’ve been trying to keep that in mind to develop the skill of running at different paces and levels of effort. It’s been really helpful. Not sure how much running I’ll get in this week—I have a work trip to San Francisco from Thurs-Monday. It will be really busy, so a feat just to keep logging foods (lots of meals out, other social/work stuff).

OCD to fill out the next even mile is very common among distance runners. I've done it, and just about every marathon runner I know has done it.1
