I wanted relief from aches & pains & to look "normal."
Then I wanted to be somewhat "fit."
Now I think I'm reaching for something beyond average. I'm not quite sure what it is yet, but it ain't mediocrity.
This is how I have been feeling lately, I am 51 and in better shape than the past 25 years and love seeing muscles and fitting into smaller clothes and makes me want to re adjust my goals
good luck with your journey17 -
How much psychology plays into overeating for some people (me). Everyone who says who you are doesn't change when you lose is right.
I'm bouncing around 241 right now. The lowest I've ever gotten was in the 230s, eight years ago. I know why: I'm eating too much because I'm afraid to get thinner, because if I get thinner I might have to like and feel good about myself.
Isn't that sad?
I'll get over this hump, because it's my mom's voice in my head telling me I don't deserve to feel good about myself, and by *kitten* I can't let her win!
It's frustrating right now when I keep sabotaging myself on purpose though. Today was a good day, I exercised and will come in under my calories. Tomorrow can be a good day too.
Good explanation of the mental challenges that come with weight loss. One of the things I anticipated most about getting to goal weight was not having to think about my eating all the time, then I realized, "I can make that change now." So I'm trying to put my food choices in perspective, strive for an 80/20 balance and view my weight loss with pride and no shame.18 -
That *some* stretch marks might become MORE prominent. Some of the worst ones have mostly faded now from my stomach but now I'm noticing some old, silver ones in my arm pits that I didn't even know I had.12

I found scars on my knee caps—my husband knew they were there but I hadn’t been able to see them.4

Before loosing 102 lbs, finding clothes that fit was a real challenge. Shirts were too tight at the belly or too wide at the shoulder. Pants too small at the waist or it the waist was ok then they had to be super baggy.
I did not expect “standard” clothes to fit well, especially when I was considering custom-tailored garnements at one time!
It bugs me more that I can find more clothes in my old sizes (3XL) than I can in L. Especially when I see sale items. All the L's are gone but loads of 2XL or 3XL.12 -
How much room there will be between your lap, stomach, and the steering wheel, it feels further away16

I’ve lost 25 pounds since last year and found many of the same things already posted. The weirdest thing for me was being able to go bra-less comfortably. After being pregnant or breastfeeding or 50 pounds overweight my entire adult life, I wore a bra every waking moment. Now it’s not an emergency the moment I wake up to slap some supportive underwire on.
Also, while I can’t really see a difference in my face in the mirror or camera, it feels very different when I touch it. Jawline and and around my forehead are bone instead of marshmallow.23 -

The ones on my tummy and thighs look like claw marks from a werewolf.
Also, no one memtioned loose skin can be very hard to distinguish from fat if you're not used to it. I play with it and my husband grins and says, "Skin, honey. Skin. Not what you think." **It's still fun to squish it. LOL**18 -

I would rather be hungry
Same here. My stomach feels horrible after eating unhealthy foods and I get sleeping.6 -
That the old clothes I kept in boxes all these years hoping to wear some day would be out of date by the time I was skinny enough. Oh well... Will buy new ones.24

They'll come back in fashion! I was in the mall with my mom and she said "did they find warehouses of left overs form the 70s? I swear I HAD this shirt"17 -
Wow them are all things I have to look forward to.6

Omg!!! Yes...now all of a sudden you're a person who deserves respect and acknowledgment. Like you didn't before??? Hard not to be angry
Yes, people, especially men that wouldn't give you the time of day, before you lost weight, now hit on you. .grrrr17 -
