Becca, I am beyond excited for you. Congratulations!
Machka, continuing to pray for you and your husband.
Felicia, cleaning out a hoarder’s home is extremely difficult and emotional. I helped my friend do it when her mother had to go to assisted living. I would not do it for just anybody, but she needed help. Her even bigger problem than the stuff was the infestation of roaches. Ugh! I only worked one day, but I think it took my friend and her brother a couple of weeks. I tackled the kitchen cabinets and floors. I understand the wanting to just walk away.
In actual weight loss news, my scale is moving down, and I’ve kept my boundaries every day for the last week or so. Gee! Do you think there is a connection?
Got the shower door today. Here’s a before and after of just the shower.

Jake felt good enough today to meet with the man who will build our new fence.
Stats for today:
*17,000 steps
*190 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*140 minutes riding the exercise bike8 -
Pip - when I die, I want to come back as YOUR DOG! They look so happy and pampered!!
Becca - so excited for your move!! You'll have to give us a pictoral tour once you get landed there!
Ginger - what a nice story about your DBIL's funeral, thank you so much for sharing that.
Janetr - what a sweet new great-grand! Mia will be busy! How far do they live from you - just wondering if they are close by and you get to see them often
Heather - you are so motivated with your cleaning out. Very inspirational. Every now and then I go through my books and give away - seems like 2 more take each one's place. You are making wise use of your kindle! Sending lots of good thoughts your way regarding letting the boys know about your book.
Rori - your retirement is off to a good start! Your zen den sounds fabulous. I'm curious - are you a writer like Heather and Lisa?
Katiebug - LOVE that shower! Can't wait to try it out, lol! After my long bubblebath that is! You were an angel to help with your friend's mother's jammed house.
Felicia - MIL's hoarding sounds overwhelming and I don't blame you for sitting in the car.
I'm not a hoarder but have a real hard time going through old photos and finding a few to keep. We've have lots of pix of the dogs and kitties we've had, our past homes and critters and friends that have since moved on. Just opening those boxes (and there are several) - I have a wave of nostalgia and something like grief I guess - I start to tear up so close the boxes up and put them back on the shelf.
I don't get emotional looking at past photos of my parents and grandparents event tho I loved them very much and do miss them. Now, that's one for the shrink!
I somehow twanged my back today and can't stand up straight. DANG! hip joints hurt, knees hurt. I've sat against the ice pack, the heating pad, taken CBD and ibuprofen. The bugger still hurts/muscle spasms- I seem to get this once or twice a year and start all of the stretches I learned in PT.
I read or heard somewhere that back problems are caused by tight hamstrings so will check that out. I probably need to dig out that TENS unit and give my rear a nice shocking for a few minutes.
Ok ladies, will close for now.

Well, I pretty muchly blew it today. We had the Newcomer board meeting here and me trying to be nice tried everything everyone else brought. Oh well, back on the wagon tonight and then tomorrow.
Did Shed 5 fast DVD. I’ll sell this one to anyone for the price of the postage (which is usually less than $3). It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it, as a matter of fact, I think the gal leading it does a very good job. It’s just that it’s a lot of kickboxing and I never feel like I get a good workout with a kickboxing DVD. So I’ll be glad to sell it to someone. Just PM me. The plan for tomorrow is to do a full body challenge and Core secrets DVD. We shall see how these are.
Wendy – how wonderful of you to help that girl! It is documented that animals are good therapy for those who have problems
Barbie – good looking fence
M – a spreadsheet is a wonderful idea. I’m going to run it by Vince. Of course, I asked him to write down for me all the different passwords and he has yet to do it. I only asked a few years ago.
Sue – first off, welcome. Secondly, if I buy junk food and then decide that I really don’t need or want it, what I do asap is donate it to the food kitchen.
Becca – doing a happy happy dance for you, shaking my booty and all. I’m just so happy for you.
Felicia – crafts in the freezer????
Welcome Layla!
Ginger – that funeral sounds lovely
Suebdew – that party sounds great! When will it be?
Lanette – get better fast. Yes, one cause of lower back pain is having tight hamstrings

Becca, congrats on the house!
Felicia, you are not the worst dil ever. My mil is no longer living at home, the last time we were there it was still so gross! The dogs were allowed to do their business wherever, you really had to watch your step! And she was a bit of a hoarder also, she bought all kinds of videos, some of them were still in their original packages. None of them were interesting to anybody but her, but..... Fortunately, while hubby signed a medical power of attorney, he never signed a financial one, so while we have a say in where she lives and how much medical intervention she receives, we don't have to worry about the house and its reverse mortgage. That part would have still been doable if it were not for the fact that my mentally challenged brother in law is still living there. So glad he didn't sign that piece of paper!!!
Kelly, thanks, I have pretty much gotten over it! I am back on the wagon, and today went well! Good luck with the activity for the 9 year old. I'm sure you will find something awesome!!
Janetr, your great granddaughter is just as beautiful as Mia! So precious....
Well, today has been a good day! My eating has been well under control it helped that I kept myself busy, did a bit of yard work this afternoon, then went grocery shopping. Bought some fresh fruit and veggies, the supply was dwindling so I was reaching for junk instead. Now I have fewer excuses, you'll notice I didn't say no excuses!!! lol
Tomorrow morning will hit the gym, then take our pretty little kitty to the vet for the last time. She's an old gal, her kidneys are failing, she doesn't get around very well anymore and she's starting to do her business in places other than the litter box. Fortunately, she's still peeing in the box and the other stuff is chunky enough that it doesn't really make a mess. Well, unless you step in it. Thank heavens that hasn't happened yet!! Going to miss her, but won't miss the other stuff.
Hope everyone has a great day/night!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Friends,
I know the newer ladies don’t even know who I am because I’ve been absent for a couple of months. I do read some but just no time to respond. Carol, thanks for the message. I do miss you all and think of you often. Maybe one of these days I’ll get back regularly.
I’ve been very busy with the Women of the Moose. Since Feb 10th we have had a Valentine’s Dinner-Dance, a Jailhouse Rock Dinner-Dance, a St Patty’s D-D, and a Hawaiian Luau D-D. Sunday was a Fashion Show, today was a bake sale and Saturday is an Easter Egg hunt and party for 40 children. After the initiation of the new officers at the end of April, I should have much more time.
It’s been cold here but finally warmed up to 70 degrees today. Wooo Hooooo I’m ready for spring but need the pollen count to go down. Allergies are awful!

So I called my middle sister and she answered!! I told her I'm not mad at her, but she does have to refriend me on Facebook..... Lol! I told her I just stopped having expectations from her. Knowing she couldn't commit to anything, yet wanting her to show up for me at the hospital was asking to much of her. She has problems, major major issues, but the under lining thing is she is my sister. Though I worry more than I have common sense, its easier to love her for all her misgivings, than to be angry at her for what she can't be. Complicated! But I feel peace in it all! Leaving this area, with a sense of calmness was needed.
So bills organized. Called the dish company and put our account on hold starting 4-9-18. Then all I have to do is call them in Washington as a customer in good standing, and get a great deal. So this afternoon husband and I go to watch a program and all our channels are missing! Jeez Louise!!!! So I called them back saying not until the 9th *long sigh*!!!
No I won't let husband lift a box, I will tape him to his recliner if I have to!!!

Katia I should've mentioned he was a veteran and his funeral was primarily a military veteran service. The caisson service was part of the military service.
The Masonic portion was really interesting.
Thanks everyone for your support.

Unfortunately, no. My oldest daughter lives in Denver and that's where the great-grand babies are. I'm in Oklahoma, a good 10 hour drive

Katiebug: The bathroom is gorgeous. When we moved into this house there had been an addition to the master bedroom which makes it quite large and a master bath added. There is a huge shower with a seat across one end. The kicker is it had cheap plastic sliding doors meant to be on a bathtub. My 6'3" hubby had to fold in half to get under the metal frame. We went to Home Depot and picked out some gorgeous glass doors, when they arrived my husband installed them. He also added a new triple mirrored cabinet above the vanity and he wired the electricity to put a new bar light above the top of it as the bathroom was too dark. We added a free-standing cabinet and It looks like a whole new room. However, the tile, etc. is no where near as beautiful as yours. You did a great job of putting it together. I know you'll enjoy it.
Congrats on the weight loss, great job.

Rori, your zen den sound great, I'm sure you will enjoy it. By the way, my new great-granddaughter is close to you, they live in the Chatfield area.
Much love

I have been reading every day
I have spoken about my friend and neighbour before but I'm really worried about her. She has been ill since Christmas and doesn't seem to improve. She hasn't been out of the house for months only to come to my house every Friday. Her son had to go to see his daughter the other day and she phoned and asked me to get food for the dog. When I returned and went in (I haven't been in for a long time) DH has been in a couple of times. Anyway I was horrified, it smells bad and dirt and dog hairs so thick looks like an extra carpet. I couldn't wait to leave. She has been promised help but nothing has happened. Her son is bipolar but I cant understand why he can't use the hoover and how he can let his 19 yr old daughter come to stay.
She won't let us help and I think the dirt and lack of fresh air are the reason her health is so bad and she is obviously depressed. I want to suggest a professional cleaning service but frightened of upsetting her as she cries at the slightest thing.
I will think of something as it's so sad, this bright clever witty woman is a sad shadow of her former self
Sorry for the long sad tale but helps to put in words

It's really REALLY Spring! 70+ degrees and sunny at the port for dog group. It's been rainy so long, forgot to put on sunscreen. Won't do THAT again!
We had cats and small terriers 30 yrs ago back in Oakland when we got Rex, an 8 week old German Shepherd pup. The cat hissed and swiped at him, the smallest terrier nipped his nose and made it bleed. A year later when he was 95 lbs, he continued to give them both a very very wide berth. We were in our very bad neighborhood. One night he woke us up barking and wouldn't stop. Joe leashed him and took him out to patrol the yard. He went right to the camper in a lunging, snarling frenzy. Joe opened the door and there was a foot hanging out from the bed! Joe hollered "Get the hell out, I can't hold him!" You should have seen him scramble out, jump over the fence and run away VERY fast. GOOD Rex!
IMHO to introduce a large dog into a cattery, s/he must be a pup. To those who were able to train dogs never to mess with cats, my hat's off to you. Could never trust a full grown dog introduced to cats to be ok unsupervised.
Allie, whew! Time to enjoy your well deserved zen retreat.
Michele 3 min plank? WOW! Amen to wishing pet's vet bills were tax deductible. I blew it today too, way over. Let myself get overtired, then celebrated with beer, garlic flatbread and chocolate. All logged.
Margaret Zumba, yoga and place you can be still, so glad you have them to help you through this time.
Rye "Virtual shopping" Brilliant!
Trisha your dogs are sooo lucky to have their work to do on weekends, and to be yours during the week. Love their smiles
Wendy you are that girl's angel, her mother's work, your hands.
Barbie "care giving is not for sissies" you said it, sister. Ditto your huge admiration for our care giving gals. Great news that Jake is feeling better!
Becca "...looked at me like I had just turned into an alien" I know that look. Thanks for your wise words to BeckyO, just right! Wow the wisdom just keeps coming. I too feel happy to be able to wake up, stretch, hug hubs, scritch pups, walk, T'ai Chi and line dance. Life is good. Can you browse the web from your Kindle and log into MFP from there? You got the house? EEEEEeeeeee!
Janet 2.5 lbs? Con VERY grats!
Lanette darling pic of Sophie as a pup with Kitty. Hope your pain and spasms have already eased.
Suebdew lovely new pic. Thanks for the reminder to be happy, love life and ourselves. Sending blue sky and sunshine thoughts
Machka ((hugs)) and continued sendings of healing thoughts.
Heather Barnacles and Bumboils?
Lisa re: people vs numbers- amen, sister, AMEN! Likewise computers vs people, computers always do exactly what you tell them to...
NYKaren "creeping might-as-wells" gave me a funny visual.
Felicia not the worst DIL in the world, but the best wife for feeling so protective of and angry on behalf of your DH.
Mary in AZ flu, bronchitis then vertigo? Good to hear from you and glad you're feeling better.
Janetr when do you get to go see Layla and Mia?
Ginger what a beautiful full celebration of a great life. Glad you feel a weight lifted. Know you and your family will be there for your sister and niece as they work out their new life.
Karen in Va, are Olivia and Phoenix-to-be nearby?
Rori zen den sounds just right. Snow again? :noway:
Katla ah, The Dead and QuickSilver... was at Winterland for the People's Park Bail Bond Benefit where Mongo Santa Maria warmed up for Santana, Quicksliver, the Dead and Jefferson Airplane. Still have a coat with a cigarette burn on it from that concert, could never throw it away.
Kay your new shower is GORGEOUS!
Evelyn for your pretty kitty, hardest but kindest thing to do.
DJ good to hear from you.
Kate how helpless you must feel about your friend and neighbor. Sure you're right about the dirt and lack of fresh air impacting her health, both physical and mental. Is there a public health nursing service that could step in?
Welcome adtobaby, lisasalvatore, jsSue, Ruth from Ontario!

So sorry, Kate. Trying to help people who won't help themselves is a thankless task. I'm sorry this worry has landed on your shoulders. It doesn't help that there is a son involved. I don't know what to suggest other than informing the doctor and social services that you are worried. When people get that bad they can't hear advice and cannot do something outside their comfort zone. You may just have to step back if there is nothing you can do other than inform the authorities. Very distressing for you.
I've found the matching travel cot stuff in a wardrobe, so I've sent an email to the original taker to see if she wants it. Some of it is never used.
Otherwise I'm going to advertise some good quality luggage items on Freecycle. We are dumping double bed duvets and loads of linens as we are getting rid of the sofa bed when we move. Still haven't heard any news about the house we want to buy - whether they have found something. I am feeling impatient now and didn't sleep well last night. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Hope to get my blurb done in the next couple of days.

May I suggest taking.photos and scanning them onto a USB? You will still.have them and if you ever need to print any out your set...just a suggestion ,I should do the same. I am up and staggering and having my tea..I love hearing the birds singing out there.4 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
JanetR – Layla’s beautiful! Love the name, as well… congratulations.
Ginger – I love the idea of the packet of forget-me-not seeds for a remembrance of someone lost. Glad you felt lighter, and have some understanding of that. Humans need these celebrations of life to help us get to the closure we need, to say goodbye in a way the heart can understand as well as the mind.
Becca – You’ll get there before we can get started! So glad for all of you, and so pleased you’ll have room to roam, and a secure place with a much-loved son.
Katiebug – That shower is flippin’ gorgeous! Absolutely love it.
Felicia – I struggle with dealing with any kind of mess at that level, as well—and the filth that seems to inevitably accompany it is stomach-turning. Add in that it is for someone that is hard to regard positively, and it is an extremely rough situation. I too would have been sitting in the car.

Good morning! Happy Thursday! Well, my recent carb loading seems to help the belly pain for a little while, but I always wake up the next day with the same "knot" in my tummy. I looked back through my food diary (thank God for logging every thing every day) and saw what I have been missing this week. Yogurt. The store was out of my yogurt, so I decided to skip it this week and just eat something else (like cottage cheese) for breakfast. Could it be, that my body is responding to lack of those little cultures in yogurt?! lol Sent DH to the store for yogurt last night, so I could add it back in this morning. Let's hope this solves my tummy troubles.
Janet -Great Granddaughter Layla! Congrats! She is beautiful!
Trish- Just stay the course! We all stray from time to time (usually when we are tired or feeling especially "beat up" by life), just hop back on the "healthy train" and move forward.
DJ- So wonderful to see you posting! Sending hugs!
Ginger- What a wonderfully uplifting celebration of life! I am so glad you and your BIL's family had that time to remember how wonderful he was! I truly hope you felt a lifting of spirit; I know I did as I read your description of his service/memorial. That is the way to live life and to be sent off! Sending love!
Kate- So sorry to hear of your neighbor! I wonder if SHE realizes the state of her home. I have noticed, (within my own family ), that as we age and our eyesight gets worse and our brains get a little fuzzy, we tend to not "see" the layer of dirt that has accumulated. Is there anyway, you could visit wearing a pair of shoes with "lint roller" bottoms?! lol I must say, I would be sorely tempted to discreetly clean while there.
Ooops! Kids arriving! Have to fly! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

Thank you Allie, I will probably do that when I am in the mood to go through those boxes. The first step will be thinning them out into one box.....tons of duplicates and blurry photos. Back in those days we'd shoot rolls and rolls of film and I'd just toss the developed ones into boxes "to go through later". I guess this is "later".
Sounds like spring has sprung in your area - hope you are done with the snow!
