April 2018 Monthly Running Challenge

I'll try this as I need the encouragement and accountability. I do not consider myself a runner but in the past have grown to like it. Last year was down with surgery and arthritis issues so I'm basically starting over. I will try and do 20miles this month in addition to other exercise.6

I will be out of town all week due to a work conference. I will try to squeeze a run in but I doubt I will have time for it
April mileage goal = 125 miles6 -
My goal this month is to finish my training plan—a tweaked version of Hal Higdon’s Intermediate 5K. I’ve replaced an easy run and a rest day with a bike and a swim. I’ll end up at about 45m run.
My goals for the year are to set new PRs in the 5K (<29:02) and sprint tri (<2:00:34).
* March 10: O’Shenanigan’s 5K - 33:41
April 28: MahoneySabol 5K
All summer:
- Lake Terramugus Tri Series
- Cedar Lake Tri Series
September 8: Hartford Women’s Triathlon
September 30: Apple Harvest 5K

My mileage for each month will be based on the estimated mileage in my marathon training plan. My marathon is at the end of September. This month, I will run at least 60 miles. I’ll also have 2 strength training days per week.
4/1: 2.5 miles
Upcoming Races:
Wineglass Marathon 9/305 -
Goal this month is 40km. The weather has really held me back these past two months, as well as the whole not being able to walk cuz my foot hurt so *kitten* much thing. New month new start and hopefully April is kind to us weather wise.4
-
This is a first for me. I get to declare my goal in the comments section. hahahaha
I will try for 150 miles again. Half Marathon next Saturday so I am tapering this week. And who knows how much recovery I will need the week after.
OK! I did 10 miles this morning. Happy Easter everyone. And thanks @Elise4270 again for covering for me and setting this up.
Good to hear it was just absent mindedness! We'd hate to lose our fearless, all-knowing leader.2 -
Edit to add: is there a way to move this to the challenges forum?
Let's look into it.
ETA If I have started the thread in the wrong place, I may be able to move it. But i can not see where it'd need to be moved too. Is "challenges" in the Fitness and Exercise thread, it be it elsewhere?
ETAA i see where now. I don't see that i can move it without the help of the mods. The groups home page says the challenge is found in the Fitness and Exercise thread, so there i put it. Change is good. here we shall stay. we'll be fine.
ya'll just bookmark it.

April will likely be a lower month than my monthly target of 168 Miles...main goal is to stay fit and be able to run Marathon on 5/6.
That said, have a HM this upcoming Sat, a 15 mile test pacing trail race a coupe weeks after that and then tapering near the end of the month all while trying to balance training with plantar issues on left foot (ie. Need to rest it a few days after 22 miler yesterday)5 -
@juliet3455 @Stoshew71 @7lenny7 @WhatMeRunning. I'll hop on the computer and set it up, if someone doesn't get it before I figure it out.
Unless I missed it, and it's posted. I vote @juliet3455 also be given privileges.
I accept if you want to add me in as a mod.2 -
Ok so after MONTHS AND MONTHS AWAY.... I'm back! (Not an April Fool's joke!) Looking to do 100+ miles in April. I tore my right gastroc at the end of September, so ran nothing in October, then I was cleared to run in November... yet spent November through February being lazy and maybe depressed (seasonal affective blows) and gaining 10 lbs and running maybe 12 miles a week on average.
However as of mid-March I'm back on the training train, and my running mojo is back now that we have longer daylight hours again! I'm still working through some tightness in my left heel/calf that I've had for almost 2 years and which I've discovered is caused by tightness in my left QL, hip flexors and adductor. So I'm working on that with a physio + doing strength work and plenty of yoga/stretching/rolling.
And so! Let's start those April miles!
4/1: 7 miles
April miles: 7
Goal miles: 100
Upcoming Races:
April 29: New Jersey Marathon 4-person relay
May 20: Watershed 10k trail race12 -
April Goal: 110 miles
4/1: 6.2 miles
6.2/110 miles completed
I first joined this group last year in April with a goal of 40 miles. This month my goal is 110 miles as I prepare for my first HM next month. This morning I ran 6.2 miles. I was hoping it would be a sunrise run, but it was too cloudy. Happy Easter!

@kristinegift Welcome back Calf injury and SAD - nasty combination. Glad to hear it is behind you. I tore mine in 2016 doing a Triathlon Brick training circuit ( Bike/Run ) 500m into the run and it kept me hobbled for 8-10 weeks. I can still feel it every once in a while ( cold weather days ) I just slooow down for a k and then can get back into my run.
We are back in the Deepfreeze, -24C this morning, @JessicaMcb has her JaJa race today in the same miserable conditions, at least it's not Barkley Mud. Go Jess Go, be safe.0 -
Thanks Elise and Stoshew!
After a dismal showing in March, hopefully I'll get more miles in this month! But I have to baby this foot. It's a little sore from 2 days running on it after 8 days off. My goal for April is 70. Since I've become obsessed with lifting that seems to cut into my mileage, especially with my cycling.
I couldn't sleep this morning which makes no sense - I should be sleeping later going from Florida to London. So I finally got up and went to the amazing gym in the hotel and then went for a touristy run stopping for lots of pics. Ran to Buckingham Palace and around the grounds of it a little bit.
4/1 - 3.65 miles + Strength training W9-B

@Stoshew71 You tricked me juuuust fine my friend xD
1/4: 11.36k -w/u and 10k race-
Race went fine beautiful weather, spring at its best. Ran with a fresh runner friend so I took it easy. On a plus side I encountered no piriformis pain! Aim for this month is 200k
Aim: 11.36k/200k

6 miles in 1-day-old shoes and a 21-yr-old hydration belt.
Twenty-one years after my first race, I’m still learning about weather-appropriate clothing. I left the house and almost went back inside to get another layer because I was chilly. But, no, chilly at the start means comfortable half-way through. Sure enough, I took off my long sleeve top at the half-way point and finished in just my tank.7 -
