    Let's look into it.

ETA If I have started the thread in the wrong place, I may be able to move it. But i can not see where it'd need to be moved too. Is "challenges" in the Fitness and Exercise thread, it be it elsewhere?

ETAA i see where now. I don't see that i can move it without the help of the mods. The groups home page says the challenge is found in the Fitness and Exercise thread, so there i put it. Change is good. here we shall stay. we'll be fine.

    ya'll just bookmark it.

Making more work fot me....grumble grumble......lol

Ok so after MONTHS AND MONTHS AWAY.... I'm back! (Not an April Fool's joke!) Looking to do 100+ miles in April. I tore my calf at the end of September, so ran nothing in October, then I was cleared to run in November... yet spent November through February being lazy and maybe depressed (seasonal affective blows) and gaining 10 lbs and running maybe 12 miles a week on average.

@kristinegift Welcome back :) Calf injury and SAD - nasty combination. Glad to hear it is behind you. I tore mine in 2016 doing a Triathlon Brick training circuit ( Bike/Run ) 500m into the run and it kept me hobbled for 8-10 weeks. I can still feel it every once in a while ( cold weather days ) I just slooow down for a k and then can get back into my run.
We are back in the Deepfreeze, -24C this morning, @JessicaMcb has her JaJa race today in the same miserable conditions, at least it's not Barkley Mud. Go Jess Go, be safe.

@Stoshew71 You tricked me juuuust fine my friend xD

    1/4: 11.36k -w/u and 10k race-

Race went fine beautiful weather, spring at its best. Ran with a fresh runner friend so I took it easy. On a plus side I encountered no piriformis pain! Aim for this month is 200k

    Yay on the piriformis account!

    Hi can I join in?
I'd like to manage 100km this month, not sue it's going to happen but I'll try.

In the middle of tapering right now but got a 10km Comic Hero fun run next Sunday and then Brighton marathon on the 15th.

    Last long run before Brighton.
16km in what is a good time for me of !hr45

    Date :::: Miles :::: Cumulative
    04/01/18 :::: 5.3 :::: 5.3

A Sunday morning run with a friend and then a lovely coffee and treat. The wind was a little bitter and the sun was hiding most of the time, but it was still a nice run.

Let's set a goal for April - I was nodding along to the first post in the thread by @garygse. Yes, me too on the half this month and I'll need a taper (not mini). But totally different ideas of what is a lower mileage month by oh, a couple hundred miles. :p This is where that saying about not comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20 comes in! Impressive goals, Gary, and you've been really killing it lately!

Anyway, I'm setting my goal at 90 again given the cross training, travel, taper, race and recovery. Hoping though that the weather will be much improved and I'll be inspired to get more miles than I think.

    Upcoming races:
4/22/18 Owens Corning Half Marathon, Toledo OH
6/3/18 Niagara Falls Women's Half Marathon
8/19/18 Falmouth Road Race (7 miles, pending group getting in by lottery)
10/28/18 Marine Corps Marathon, Arlington VA

Edited to add - oh no @rheddmodbile, hope you are ok! Can you go to urgent care or something?

@juliet3455 Luckily my calf was fine after a month, but I never really fixed the underlying issue so it's coming up again now that I'm running more regularly. Hopefully I can fix it for good this spring!

I've been sick the last couple of days so no running for me. I met my goal for March and now I'm training for an upcoming half so my April goal is 70 miles. Hoping I can get over whatever this is soon and get back out there.

    Upcoming Races:
    4/28/18 Brown Deer 10k
    6/10/18 Manitowoc Half Marathon
    8/18/18 Madison Mini Half Marathon
    9/16/18 North Face Endurance 10k

Run if you have a cold? Yes or no? I'm debating. I leave on vacation tomorrow (where I'm planning to run). Just not feeling great today.

The conventional wisdom says that if you're sick from your neck up you can run, but below the neck you should rest. So if it's just a head cold go ahead and run.

Yep, that's how I've always done it. I've had a head cold all week, but still managed some easy runs and actually felt better after doing so. I once attempted to run through a bout of viral bronchitis. Not one of my best decisions; it wasn't pretty, and I learned my lesson.

    April Running Totals (miles)
    4/1 – 6.21 easy

April running total to date – 6.21

    Nominal challenge goal: 130 miles

Real goals: Arrive at Hopkinton healthy. Get to Boyleston Street under my own power. Recover well.

Today's notes – The taper mental games begin. Went around in my head between 5 miles or 7, ended up splitting the difference. Put a new pair of shoes in rotation today, replacing a pair that demonstrated it needed to be retired. Target for this week is 37 miles. Need to keep that in mind as the mind games play with what I do on Tuesday and Thursday. Could go as high as 40 miles, but you know . . . I'm supposed to come down from peak, and I peaked last week at almost 48 miles. That's a bit light for marathon training, but it's where I am.

    2018 races:
February 17, 2018 Freezeroo #5 (Valentines Run "In Memory of Tom Brannon" 8 Mile) (Greece, NY) finished in 54:48
February 24, 2018 Freezeroo #6 (White House Challenge 4.4 mile) (Webster, NY) finished in 28:46
March 17, 2018 USATF Masters 8K (Shamrock 8K, Virginia Beach, VA) finished in 31:55
March 24, 2018 Spring Forward 15K (Mendon, NY) ran at MP, finished in 1:10:47
April 16, 2018 Boston Marathon (Hopkinton, MA)

I always do. Not sure if it is smart or not, but I always feel better when I do. :)

I can't bend my knee today and have no way of getting to a doctor on a holiday weekend - very sick and depressed. So no goal for me. I'll just be happy if I'm fixed and able to run soon.

I was planning on running the Southwind 5k next weekend but it looks like a no go.

Ack! If you can not move your knee, maybe you should head to the ER?

Didn't run as much as I wanted to last month, so I'll stick to the same goal as last month.
Have a few local 5ks this month and at least two 10ks I'd like to complete.

5 miles treadmill. Not as many miles or as fast as I had planned, but ultimately quit because low BG's.

I've been already, they did an ultrasound and referred me to a clinic which isn't open until Monday.
