@eponine1984 I am so sorry for your loss. That much blood loss is not trivial - I hope your physical recovery is quick so you can get out running to help with the rest of your recovery.1

Week 1 Day 1 of C25K today! It wasn't easy for me, but super happy I made it through!7

@girlinahat waves back
@PastorVincent Nice looking powerline trail, add 3 ft of snow and it would look like one ( all ) of my trails
@Orphia Cartwheels and running - sounds like some kind of funky Zumbra - obstacle race.
@eponine1984 Sends big virtual hug to you and your family from all your MFP Friends.
@JessicaMcB Congratulations. Great JaJa Photo, especially since the dude in the back has a Gary Robbins style Beard happening. Took me a while to understand the picture with all the pages of the books. I am guessing that the temps warmed up as the day went on.
-22C this morning so wait for the evening when it should be warmer.1 -

In typical fashion, it was in the upper 40'sF yesterday when I took that picture, and today we have 3 inches of snow on the ground. Not quite 3 foot, but probably looks about the same until you start walking/running in it.

4.35 today to submit as a virtual run for my missed race Saturday.
I've got 3 more runs planned for this week, no set distance or time.4 -
For real? It's only early on the 2nd and I've already missed 5 pages? I've done so poorly keeping up with you all this year.
Goal(s) for April: 110 miles, no injuries and complete HM on the 22nd in a solid (for me) time.
4/1 - Start month on rest day, plus it's Easter = no burn + a lot of calories / hot cross buns.
4/2 - 4 treadmill miles + upper body weights/abs.
4/110
Good luck all!4 -
New here. I'm sure I'll screw this up somehow, but yesterday, April 1st, 2018. 7.5 miles. Which was actually a mistake. I intended on only doing 4 miles, but because I'm an idiot and didn't pay attention to the road I was on at the start, I ended up going waaaaayyyyy out of my way and by the time I made it home, it turns out, I had gone 7.5 miles.6

@eponine1984 I am so, so sorry for your loss. I hope that you can find peace and healing in your recovery.1

@kristinegift - Never been diagnosed, but I think I may have SAD too. I get extremely grumpy, sleepy, mopey, etc. in January and February every year. Way to kick *kitten* the first two days of April!
@MobyCarp - Love your real goals!
@zerlinna87 - FWIW, if an illness doesn't involve a fever, "wet" lungs, or a major GI issue...I try to run. Often, I feel better when finished.
@eponine1984 - I am sorry for all you're going through and your loss :-(
@JessicaMcB - Great job, love that pic!

Weather will be great today and my son has soccer practice, so skipped early morning on the road and will do a few miles on the trail by his soccer fields tonight. Less than two weeks to my first 25k and trail race. It feels weird not to have run in the morning, but I sure don't feel the rungries like I usually do. I think these soccer practice runs will become the norm as long as the weather holds. It's nice to spend more time on the mountain. I think there's a few other trails close by that I can scout out.3

@eponine1984 I'm so very sorry for your loss and the traumatic experience. My heart goes out to you.1

@eponine1984 I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and hoping for a speedy recovery.
@JessicaMcB Way to go!
@polskagirl01 I am also wondering about this nation-wide water battle day.1 -
@eponine1984 so sorry to hear of your loss.

@eponine1984 so, so sorry. No words are adequate. I can't even imagine what you must be going through.1

Ditto. Your post brought tears to my eyes. Wishing you all the best.1 -
@JessicaMcB Fantastic! Sounds like a hella fun race!
@kristinegift So glad to see you back!!
@orphia I love the cartwheel goal! I fear I would break my neck if I tried to do that.
@NikolaosKey great to hear you race was pain free. Great photo!

4/1-14.5 miles
Setting a goal of 180 miles this month because that it what my plan says. Hitting 50+ mile weeks now and I am feeling pretty tired. Why is it that I never remember how draining training for a marathon can be? I am actually glad to see Mondays (my rest day) roll around.4 -
I had a great run to start the month. 20 miles of hilly, snowy, muddy trails.
It was a pretty interesting run. Just before I left the parking lot, a young guy pulled up next to me. He got out loudly singing a song in a language I didn't recognize. I saw he was a trail runner and we briefly spoke. I thought about asking him if he wanted to run with me, but with his youth and my ITB, I figured the paces wouldn't match so I wished him a great run and went on my way. Less than a mile in he caught up to me. I expected him to pass but we ended up running 15 miles together. It was fun to watch him run. On the downhills he's push his chest out and extend his arms like he was a little kid running for the joy of it. We didn't talk much, but we talked enough. It turned out he's a resident physician from the disputed region of the Himalayas. He made it sound like you could choose your nationality if you were born there, and his family was Pakistani. He went to med school in Pakistan and now lives in Minneapolis. When I found out he was from Pakistan I told him of my appreciation for the music of Nusrat Fatah Ali Kahn (any other Qawwali music fans here?) and he was surprised I even knew who he was. We had a great run together and traded phone numbers at the end.
After that I still had another 5 miles to go but went to my truck to get dry socks and shoes. It was then I noticed my right foot was completely wet and numb. I spent the next 45 minutes with the truck running to heat up my foot. It took a LONG time to get feeling back in it and for a time it was an ugly mottled white and dark red. I almost bailed out on the rest of my run but I really needed one more 20 mile run before my taper.
It took all the will power I had to get out of that nice, warm truck and back on the trail. All I wanted to do was go home and eat. I did get out, and it felt great having warm feet again, but that sitting in the truck must have tightened up my ITB and it was really acting up on my last loop. Again, I thought about bailing out but decided I'd likely face this same pain at Zumbro so it'd be good for me to power walk through it and see how it went. So, I power hiked for most of the last 5 miles to get my 20 in for the day.
April Progress: 20/150 miles.9 -
I'd like to join! I'm training for a 10k in May right now. I have a 5k in 2 weeks. So my training plan gets me to 28 miles for the month of April. I'll shoot for that8
-
Took me a while to find the thread!!! I went AWOL at the end of march but let's try this again! My target for April is 50km. Aiming to run 3-4 km 4-5 times a week. I am very stretched for time so can't do longer runs at the moment but a short run is better than none right?!
4/1 - 4km - 4/50
4/2 - 0 rest day - 4/504 -
Going for 100 km this month!6

Welcome to all new members!
@katharmonic Thank you, and good luck with your taper and race!
@eponine1984 Oh no, I'm so sorry that you had to go through with that experience; it's beyond words.
@JessicaMcB Congrats on an excellent result at JaJa, and great pics!!!
@7lenny7 That took quite a bit of will power and true strength to get back out there after warming up; I most certainly would have caved and called it a day, lol!
Sunday, I stepped out of the shower and looked down to see a little swelling. Around my ankle. Not sure what I did, or when it happened, but this morning's run wasn't the hard run as planned (just to be safe) as I have less than two weeks before my race. I have a feeling it's a reaction from an insect bite, but I'm wearing a compression sock anyway to try and help things out.

I'm so angry I don't even know where to begin. I should have known from the first word out of the orthopedist's mouth that he was a bad fit - my husband was wearing a 5k shirt and the doctor's first words were, "You're not a RUNNER?" We thought he was joking but he wasn't joking - he said he believed in treating conservatively which means I'm not supposed to to anything for the foreseeable future and likewise he will do nothing. I explained wanting to get better so I could run and he said he didn't recommend running at any time for anyone and that I should get my exercise from swimming or cycling instead. Too angry to communicate with him in a very helpful fashion, but I did eventually get him to recommend me to a sports doctor who might actually someday help me, who can't give me an appointment for another TWO WEEKS. I explained that I literally can't go without exercise because I'm not on medication and I control my diabetes through exercise, and he said "Two weeks of high blood sugar won't kill you."

@rheddmobile I do not have a doctor I trust, but I do trust my chiropractor. Sorry you have to deal with idiotic doctors.
I went to my chiropractor today. Appears to be shin splints. He is doubtful that I will make it to the marathon. Depressed, but still want to keep up here. No mileage for me at this time.6 -
4/1: 2.5 miles
4/2: 3.1 miles
My scheduled run for today was a 3 mile tempo, but of course, I let my watch go over to 3.01, and I couldn’t handle the unevenness; I was “that person” running in circles in front of my house until I hit 3.1.
Upcoming Races:
Wineglass Marathon 9/305 -

Reading the comments here (and looking very hard at myself too), I think most of us are "that person".3 -

What an *kitten*. Hope the next guy doesn't also have his head... UP.
I saw 6 doctors before I had an accurate diagnoses for my glute/piriformis/nerve impingment, and that was over the course of almost 5 years.
Hang tough to those two weeks. I'd get some exercise-run, if you can tolerate it.3
