I went to Ross to find some tops today and came back with size smalls?!?!? Like WTF?!?! I’m so excited but wow vanity sizing I’m 5’8 and still overweight and probably going to lose another 30-40lbs but what’s gonna fit me at that point if I’m already in smalls?
Another clothing victory: I’ve been living in yoga pants and at any given point I usually have two sizes on rotation. right now mediums and larges. Yesterday I put on a pair and they were almost saggy so they need to go I thought they were a pair of xl’s hanging around. Nope. Definitely the larges which means the larges need to go so it’s probably time to start stocking smalls.
The idea of small tops is funny. Small bottoms is mind boggling.15 -
On a whim this morning I reached for a dress that I had put way back in the back of the closet because I had "outgrown" it and it fit! It fit so well I wore it to work today20

I like to keep my phone in my kangaroo hoody pocket. My belly no longer keeps it stable. This morning I stabbed my thighs with the corners of the phone trying to show my husband how well my flexibility is coming along.14

I started running last May with my son. To date, I have completed 37 Parkruns (a weekly 5km run) - I've only missed a week when they've been cancelled for whatever reason. Still slow but I'm working on that.
Since then:
- My 18-year old daughter has started running and has now completed the C25K. She can manage about 2 miles in 30 minutes so she's doing okay.
- My 5-year old daughter has been doing the junior parkruns (2km) and has completed 29 runs. A few weeks ago, my son couldn't run with me so she decided to do the 5km run with me, she's now walk/run four Parkruns with me. Yesterday said that she wants to run with me more often, so today I started the C25K with her. She did really well, even though she found it quite hard going, especially when I was telling her to slow down - she has a habit of charging off and I wanted her to learn that speed is not necessarily the best thing at first.
But, most importantly, she enjoyed it and wanted to go again. She was so keen to run this morning, she was up and getting dressed before I had to ask her to. This is unheard of, she would happily spend the day in her PJs
- My husband has said that if my little one wants to do the Parkrun this weekend then HE will run with her so that my son and I can run without needing to worry about her.
So that's 5/6 of my family who are running/thinking about running. Just need to work on my 13-year old son and we'll all be running.
I was told that running was addictive . . . . but I didn't think that my whole family would get involved. So very happy that they are though51 -
Today was my 1000th consecutive day of logging in to MFP. I hope this doesn't make me "Ann(e) of the Thousand Days" . . . IIRC, that didn't end well, though she did ultimately lose several pounds quite rapidly.54

For the longest time, I've been the one doing the laundry. About 3 months ago, I finally bought new underwear and went from a size XXL/XL to a size S (I wore some old Ls when the other ones got too large). My fiance got around to helping with the laundry the other day and grabbed one of my new underwear. He held it up towards me and asked if they ended up shrinking in the dryer, lol. When I said no, he said we could now go out and buy me cartoon underwear from the kids section.41

800 day streak (and in maintenance mode ATM) - 1000 days here I come!31

Was again able to wear the clothes that I bought when I first lost 100 lbs 6 years ago. I regained half that weight a year later (and have been stuck there ever since) and couldnt keep wearing that stuff, so I had to get bigger clothes.
But since I refocused myself last year, Im now very close to hitting my previous lowest weight! Very excite!27 -
I hit a plateau a few weeks ago. I wasn’t logging my food, so I was definitely indulging in too many treats. I remember weighing myself and seeing the number (still 30+ pounds from GW) and thinking maybe this is where I’m going to stay.
Instead of giving up, I reminded myself why I want this and started logging my very next meal. This is huge for me!36 -
The dress, it fits it lays down nicely no ripples unexpected happy moment for Friday!34

I took a selfie and I saw that I had only ONE chin!! I used to have almost 3 chins a couple months ago, this is awesome! My face has changed so much34

This really lifted me up. I am nearing the 500 day mark and feel like I should be so much further on my journey and it can be really demotivating. This is very uplifting and motivating, I tell myself to never give up, but sometimes feel I may never get to where I want to be. You are proof that this does not have to be the case at all. Thank you so much!23 -
I'm out of the cycle of over-eating, under-eating and over-exercising. Recording everything I eat gives me a lot of freedom and helps me deal with craving better. It's less annoying than I thought it would be and it's a wonderful "mindful eating" practice. I lost a pound this week to boot. I wouldn't have done this years ago...might have been too obsessive, but this feels good and healthy. Grateful.22

Do they have a BMI calculator based on body types? It is impossible for me to reach a “normal” BMI of 25.0 without having 5%, or less, body fat.3

Not that I'm aware of. But there are some charts out there that will guesstimate your frame size, and tell you where you should be on the BMI chart from there. My husband has a similar problem. He has a big bone structure, and even at his fittest he's ever been BMI told him he was over weight. It's not a very reliable measure of health IMO.4 -
I guess it's not a victory yet, but I signed up for my first THREE 5ks! There's a series of three this summer, one each in June, July, and August, giving me plenty of time to finish training and also check my progress month to month. Just committing myself to doing them is a huge step for me. It definitely gives new perspective to how far I've come, both health wise and also with anxiety. I'm not scared, I'm excited!19

Try the Military Body Fat Calculator for Calculating Your Body Fat Percentage, this what the US Army and Marines use.4 -

What a great revelation! I too have come to that point - we cannot keep beating up our bodies and expect to maintain those behaviors long term. You are doing great!
My NSV - today I accidentally put on the jeans that were my wake-up call in December. I had not planned on trying them on again until mid-summer - they are the same wash as my other go-tos, and I accidentally pulled them out and put them on. These jeans have a lot of stretch, but even with that, they had become way too tight and gave me a muffin-top for the first time ever in my life (I do not carry the bulk of my weight in my waist -it's in generally in my hips and upper thighs, but as of December, the fat had no place to go except up!).
They look AWESOME!! Muffin top gone, and they are loose. I wish I had done a before and after with these on, but it was just so upsetting in December.19 -
Teachers lounge had a bunch of goodies (badies?) Bagels, cake, donuts, rice crispy treats, etc. I ate NONE of it. I posted it on MFP feed to stay accountable and not be tempted to eat some later.15

A decade ago, I avoided certain theaters & venues because I barely fit into the seats and hated feeling like I was hanging over onto my friend or the person next to me...so uncomfortable. A few times, I went to plays/musicals and wound up with bruises on my hips from the seats.
I've been at an average size for roughly 6 years now, and I don't even think about this stuff usually...I just go all the places and fit into all of the chairs/seats, and it's great. But last night I was at a 100 year old theater watching a concert and it occurred to me that I fit perfectly in my seat. At one point I got up to use the restroom before the theater was full and found it more convenient to just climb over the empty seat in front of me and go out that aisle. I do have long legs, but years ago there is no way I could have done that, and I would have just "held it" or been all red-faced apologizing to the people in my own aisle.
Stuff like that makes me really happy.

Started this weight loss project in March 2017. Lost the first 15 easily doing lazy keto. Plateaued for a couple of weeks. Was talking to a friend of mine who asked me "Are you logging your food?" I had to say "No". Turns out she was right. Started logging and was losing weight again in a couple of weeks.
You're so right - hard to engage in "mindless eating" when you log everything. Thanks for sharing your insight!

I'm back in size large clothes again! I've needed to buy smaller clothes, and I still need to buy a smaller belt and the small fitbit band13

i was so exhausted today, I still woke up at 630 on my day off for the gym. I didnt want to mess up my sleep schedule but iv been tired for days so i took a nap (first nap in years). After my hour nap i was still so tired but i got my butt up went for an hour and a half walk to do some errands. I passed all the candy at the dollar store on my walk, Yay. Got some exercise. Yay. And then came home and made nicecream.
So i went to the gym, got a nap, Ran errands, Got lots of steps, Turned down all the delicious candy, And got to eat nicecream. Pretty good day for a super exhausted day off.21 -
After being on-and-off again with working out, I have officially gotten down to a medium from a large. Having a fitbit (even just the One left over from years ago) really makes the inner numbers nerd take over, kicking everything into high gear just to get pretty numbers.21

My most recent NSV is a variation on the one where people don't need a seatbelt extender on airplanes anymore. While that has never been the case for me, I did always have a habit of first extending the belt as far as it would go and clasping it, then tightening it. I think this was partly because my weight was consistently going up over the years and with each flight I knew I was going to have less and less slack. But I also think part of it was that I just assumed I was going to be bigger than whoever sat in that seat before me and I was ashamed to see how much bigger I'd be than that person so wanted a 'clean slate' with the belt. This is silly, of course, because we never know who sat there last or how big or small they might have been, but there you go.
Anyway, I was chuffed to realise yesterday that not only did I not automatically default to extending the belt all the way out before fastening, but I was smaller than whoever came before me and had to further tighten it. Plus I was in the middle seat and didn't touch my neighbours on either side with my hips AND even managed to cross my legs for a little while during the flight, which I admit I did just to see if it could be done.47 -
My towel actually goes around me properly!39
