Just for Sunday
8. Work on accepting that I will never look like I did in high school. All I can do is try to be the healthiest I can be today.
9. Find an activity that I can physically do. Then do it. One day at a time. 10 minutes even. Really struggling with this. I've had so many injuries through the years that have never healed correctly. Seems like one thing starts to feel better than another thing acts up. Right now my left hip feels like it is out of joint, so it's difficult to lift my leg to even get in a car, let alone walk up and down stairs or take a long walk. I'm feeling very discouraged right now.
Have a great day everyone!

Re: 8
Yes, I created this mantra that I say if I start to go down memory lane and/or beat myself up for unhealthy eating in the past & sedentary habits. It has Really helped me. Perhaps you can create one to help you at these times because losing weight is exciting AND it can activate regrets.
I say to myself, “The Past is passed.”
To me, it means, it’s back there, nothing I can do about it now, so let it go. Focus on this moment & how you want to live in the future. I’ve trained my brain to catch these times & day the mantra. Then I just move on: take a walk, pet the cat, read a book, clean the kitchen, call a friend...”
I’ve also read/heard: “Don’t Dwell to be Well.”
Re: 9
I have faced this in the past & am facing this currently during the past 10 days.
Things I’ve learned (in case they are helpful):
1. It’s important to build intensity or distance (not both) and verrrry gradually... I was in such a hurry to get FIT that I pushed it too much.
2. Rest days actually ARE important. They allow our muscles to heal. My Pilates teacher drilled this one into my head.
3. Taking a 10 minute stroll after each meal gives you your 30 minutes in a more manageable way.
4. Heating pads are miracle workers.
5. Ditto taping or ankle elastic bands. Elevate with ice really does help.
6. I have bursitis in my hip. My doctor said to Search for Bursitis exercises on YT & do them. If that’s what you have, the exercises DO help.
If you can, consider a physical therapy appt. They can give you a personalized set of stretches/exercises for your body.
I’m sorry you’re discouraged. I empathize because I’ve only been able to exercise about 1/2 the past 10 days (and lightly) so hopefully things will heal.5 -

So I’ve not been great with checking in twice a day like I did before... but so far I’m on a 5 day streak of exceeding my daily step goal. I’ve started to cut back on snacking and sugary drinks (cut DOWN, not cut OUT. I’m trying to be reasonable while still enjoying the things I like). I’m feeling pretty good so far. Today we were supposed to go out to a resto but decided to stay in and cook a healthy meal instead. So that was good for my wallet and my waist line.6

Jft Sunday Recap
Keeping it very simple
Change your negative attitide Well it took the better half of the morning to shake my bad attitude. Not sure if it was PMS or a Chinese food hangover. Either way, I skipped breakfast all together when I should have had my shake (learning opportunity: have breakfast smoothie on weekends too) which lead to pizza for lunch after delivering some groceries to MIL. Made the most of our afternoon together and relaxed with a movie before doing some cooking and food prep. All in all Sunday was a good lesson in patience, gratitude, and what being a good care taker to others AND myself means.
JFT Monday
1. Track water today to see how many oz. you are actually drinking
2. Log all food
3. Stop eating when you are full - eat when you are hungry
4. Cook dinner without snacking
5. Two, ONLY TWO, pieces of dark chocolate for dessert
6. Finish job sheet
7. Give dog meds

JFT
Walk dog at beach park before rain.
5x5 Stronglifts-weights are increasing at a steady rate. Surprised by how much you have to pay attention and assess while lifting. (Loving the Women's 5x5 Stronglifts FB group-passionate & helpful). I think I'm out of the gym in less than 30 minutes!
Grilling chicken & veggies tonight.
Meditate 2x 15 mins each.
Plan suppers for entire week.
Find recipes for high protein bars/cookies.
Set up week & month for volunteering/committee work. If I invest the time now, it'll reduce stress later.
Clean out my closet (donate or store winter items).
Read something for inspiration.
Make high protein waffle mix & store for tomorrow.
Starting an early bedtime challenge-aiming for 9-10pm.
Ask myself "in 3 months, where do you want to be with your health?"

Well it has been a few days since my last post Honestly I've been fighting off post-partum depression. My hubby has been too busy with work so I've been struggling even more. Anyways....I think I'm just going to keep pushing through. The baby cluster fed for 4 days btw 2 pm - midnight each time So my "to-do lists" did not get done! I'm going to make some very small goals this next week to see if I can actually achieve them.
Sunday 4/29 JFT:
•Drink 96 oz of water
•Get back on regular diet
(reduce all these carbs! I've been stress and emotionally eating)
•Yoga (45 min.)
•Prepare ALL meals at home
I could easily keep adding to this list but I'm stopping myself and trying to keep it simple for Sunday.
Welcome to the new JTFer's!!
(Just a little about me --> mother of 4, full time college student and wife to an entrepreneur; we just had our 4th little one on 3/24/18 So I'm just now getting back to JFT.)
This is an awesome support and motivational group
I'm so sorry to hear you have PPD, my daughter and I both suffered from it. I went undiagnosed for years, but I recognized it in my daughter right away and made her see a doctor. Get help if you need it.3 -

Swim lesson went ok today. We were supposed to swim face down and roll to our back. I can’t swim on my back lol. So I worked on that most of the day. I think I’ll go this week to practice more before next weeks class.
Decided to have a nap instead of clean, that was a workout this morning! I priced a scale for food, it’s going to have to wait a couple weeks.
The scale moved down to 193.8 this morning, tomorrow is my actual log in day. I read a message board the other day and someone stated they weigh every morning and then do an average over the seven days for their check in. What does everyone think about that?
Years ago in the 1950's my mother, as a young married woman, decided to take swim lessons. She said she never could graduate from the beginning pollywog class! She took it twice and the instructor finally gave in saying she'd never had a student who could not learn to swim. Mom loved to fish, but was terrified she'd drown, so always wore a life jacket, even in shallow water. But boy, she was a good fisherman.
So so so great about your weight loss! Yea for you! You are going to be on here announcing that you are at 189 in no time. You make it to 189 and I'll toast you with two extra cups of water!! Onward to victory!!!
That's an awesome story about your Mom, thanks for sharing!
I hope to soon be announcing 189, that will be one pound less than when I started this journey in 2012. I had gotten down to 168 that go around. My goal is to keep going this time and not let life derail me.4 -
HGSmith0920 wrote: »How is everyone this afternoon? I am currently sitting at M&M's kitchen table attempting to help her fix her Mac. I know NOTHING about Apple products. I am strictly an Andriod/Window/PC user. Lol. But at least it is nice to be spending time with her. We spent about an hour talking about the lack of relationship between her and her DH. I think that it is kind of funny/a bit odd that my DH and I have an amazing marriage. Granted we have only been married less than four years and together five. So there are many years for things to go wrong. I am praying that that never happens. But I find it interesting that I can give marriage insight to people who have been married for more than 30 years. I dont know if what I am saying has any effect or is even relevant to other people's situations and I tend to use my past and my marriage as an example while talking to other people but I guess I have things in my life that other people can relate to. Not sure how but for some reason I guess it is a thing. Lol
I believe the younger married folks have a lot to offer us new married folks. The younger generation in my opinion is better at dealing with emotions and problems and talking them out rather than burying them and hoping they will go away. Also, you haven't become jaded yet. I think that is a big problem in older marriages, sometimes one partner stops trying to please the other. It is something that needs to be nurtured every day, every year and when one stops it's hard for the other one to keep trying. I hope you and your husband always take the time to talk like you post you do now. I think that will help you forever.3 -

The scale moved again this morning 193 even! Only 3 more to go and I'll be back to where I started in 2012.5 -
Sunday 4/29 JFT:
•Drink 96 oz of water ✅--> 48 oz (1/2 way there)
❌•Get back on regular diet --> ate a piece of cake
(reduce all these carbs! I've been stress and emotionally eating)
❌•Yoga (45 min.)--> hubby needed me to play Uber driver (we purchased my oldest son a truck for his 16th birthday bc his 1971 mustang isn't done being restored)
❌•Prepare ALL meals at home--> hubby bought breakfast tacos
Monday 4/30 JFT:

▪Prepare ALL meals at home
▪Drink 96 oz of water
▪Laundry
▪Clean master closet
Yesterday didn't worked out as planned but I'm feeling good about today. For the first time since I've been home, I was able to have a regular morning routine with my kiddos! I think I found the solution for productivity and positivity --> after my little one eats at 3-4 am, I stay awake instead of going back to bed. This gives me time to get a good start to the day. The little guy sleeps the best in the morning so I'll use that to my advantage. My schedule allows for an afternoon nap so this should work.....we'll see, today is my test run Lol!3 -
I'm so terribly sorry you are struggling with PPD. You may not think you need a support group but I want to encourage you to go ahead and find one if you haven't. That way if you do decide you need one you won't have to make the relatively huge overwhelming effort to research something. You might also look for an online support group. You have been through a lot. You haven't had an empty plate and then with Noah's arrival the plate is probably overflowing! Good goals you have set. If you are struggling to immediately get back on a regular diet, perhaps easing into it will see a greater success (little, daily bites at a time---pun intended!)
Keep us posted, and know we are sending thoughts and prayers on your behalf.
Thank you for the kind words and support!! I have my counselor on stand-by just in case but we both think getting some exercise back into my schedule will help. Therefore, that is my goal for now. I feel confident that waking early and using the morning time will help change my direction daily. Previously I was going back to sleep then being sluggish and depressed all day. Hopefully I'll have the energy to pull this together, Lol!5 -
@MLHC1 Yes! It's amazing how simple movement, even a walk to the stop sign can really halt emotional downward spiraling. And sometimes it seems so difficult to just make the first step. Good for you.
I recall way back in 1991 when I was getting depressed---I was very pregnant and still getting sick and I just didn't want to face the world. After a couple of days or so I had a very good friend who came in, opened the blinds, got me out of bed, dressed, and into the car with her children and my one. I just went with her while doing errands. Nothing earth shattering. But that one day helped give me a jump start and after that I was okay. I was able to cope with what all was going around me. Anyway, we are all thinking of you
Peace and joy as you purpose to get some exercise/movement into your day.

One last peptalk as we enter the 5th month of 2018!
If you have managed to remain on track and are seeing yourself edging closer to your goal YEA for you!!! You are seeing the benefits of staying focused, dedicated, and willing to sacrifice something good for something better in your life. You are also an inspiration and encouragement to your fellow sojourners!
Have you have stalled out, become weary, bored, rebellious? Have you let emotions or circumstances derail you? Have you fallen and are too despaired to get back up because you feel it's too late and what's the point? Think about this: the fact you are on this page means there is hope!
This is the day to push the restart button! Yes! We can have a re-do! Woo-hoo!! It has been a big help for me to take the last day of the month and write out the good, bad, and ugly that has taken place over the past 30 days, and then writing out a plan of action. I also read over my goals and vision that I made in January as a reminder.
I have fallen. I have regressed so far that I've gained back my weight and more. I've been discouraged and as of Dec. 31, I was resigned to the fact that I would always be fat and unhealthy and a glutton. Writing down my thoughts, goals, etc. helped me to realize that my end goals were always disappearing. I would make a goal to lose x amount of weight before a cruise, a wedding, a party, etc. Then the event would disappear and so would my motivation. Because the goal was gone. This time my goal is good health. The wedding, party, the events, are milestones. I call them my mini-goals and when I make one, it's a bonus! One mini-goal is our son's wedding in November. The bonus is how splendiforous I'm going to be looking in my dress! But I still have my goal of good health, that is not going to move or change or disappear on me. I don't have a deadline and that has been very freeing for me.
Consider changing your strategy if it doesn't seem to be working. Our strategies, though difficult and challenging, should be resulting in us thriving, to be feeling successful and hopeful.
Or perhaps you need to put the weight loss portion of your journey on short-term maintenance, which also takes work, effort, focus, sacrifice, in order to address other issues that have come up in your life.
Have you been gaining some good habits on this journey? I see many of us talking about getting more sleep, drinking more water, exercising more, drinking less pop, dressing for confidence, halting eating in the evening, taking full lunch breaks, quitting work when the whistle blows, being intentionally more grateful, taking every bite captive, choosing to not allow other people's actions negatively affect our emotions and well-being. WOW!!! I think many of us are realizing that this health journey isn't just resulting in weight loss but gaining good healthy habits that will truly affect our countenances, attitudes, and overall well being. And I'll drink to that---water, that is!!!
Let's get tenacious. Let's get determined. Let's really make this month count! Let's be able to look back in 31 days and say, "Wow! Look at the progress I've made!"
Peace and joy!5 -
