What nobody tells you about losing weight

You need more underwear - when you start exercising one set per day just won't cut it19

1) As someone who has lost over 100 pounds and kept it off for like 5 years (until I had another baby) I am always incredibly frustrated by the fact even if I look good in my clothes I do not and will not ever look good in a bathing suit or naked with out lots of surgery...
2) I do not feel better mentally or physically because I lost weight.
3) I still think I am a fat person40 -

I still think that. In medium t shirt, 34" jeans and yet I'm still convinced I'm a fat person

Nobody told me how frustrating it is walking into the doctor's office and having a doctor suggest that you lose weight when you'd already lost 30lbs, and that with an 8-10" healing incision in your side core muscles.24

You’ll need a new mattress since the firm one you currently use was enhanced by the extra “padding” you used to carry.
I loved my orthopaedic mattress and used to spend hours reading in bed. Now my hips and bum ache after about 15mins of sitting up. Time for a new softer mattress.12 -
Best thing so far was this morning I was feeling a little down since I've reached a plateau and was thinking what to do to push past it and I was walking down the hall and a coworker said, "You're looking really skinny today!" And I'm still a size 12 down from a 16 in the past 6 months but that was great to hear even though I know I have a long way to go still.42

i'm about 24 pounds down with ~75 to go...but some things in this thread are resonating with me already.
-getting hit on more, chatted up more, flirted with more. maybe it's the combination of my increased confidence and smaller body, but it feels like the more weight i lose, the more people find me attractive (guys and gals but especially males!).
-more energy. sometimes i have too much energy. one of my friends commented that i'm "always up buzzing around these days." i wake up less tired, nap less.
-climbing hills is easier! i live in seattle so hills used to terrify me. i'd walk out of my way to avoid steep ones. it's embarrassing to be huffing and puffing up the hill. but now i embrace it and say f it, if anyone has a problem with me being out of breath then that's their issue. i refuse to be embarrassed anymore.
-clearer skin!
-more compliments on my appearance, just in general. people are noticing my weight loss, yes, but also starting to compliment me on my makeup and hair etc.
the more weight i lose, the more visible i become to the world. as someone who's been fat since age 5, it's simultaneously wonderful and scary.36 -

Yes. I’m feeling the exact same thing.

I am at the other extreme. I feel more confident, younger and stronger. I feel like a fit person and I love it.16 -

(At least I still have absolutely no desire to wear a skirt! I think that may cause people to have a heart attack!)

At 50 years old, one thing that surprised me after losing 30 pounds was how much older I looked. My thinner (bonier) face just looked harsher, with more sharp angles and deeper shadows under my eyes. People also started asking me if I was tired, and if I was feeling okay.21

(1) Keep track of your passwords because Face ID may not recognize you.
(2) Your insecure "pretty" friends might turn super petty (actually they would've always been petty, but since you're now a "threat," the pettiness is directed towards you).
(3) Everyone wants to weigh-in on how you lost the weight.
(4) You may experience a mild case of body dysmorphia.23 -
I tried to post this the other day for all my fellow cold all the time peeps, Wrangler makes fleece lined cargo pants, you can get them at Meijer in Michigan these days. First time I’ve been warm since August.
I'm a few pages back and it's summer now.. but L.L. Bean has fleece lined jeans too. lol2 -
