June Self-Care Challenge

Today is all about fathers and mentors. I'm hosting a cookout with family. But I do it with love because I have the best dad in the world. We also will miss my husband's father who died this year. So, today, I'll put aside self care, but I do it because I am so grateful for so many wonderful men in my life. Hope your day is wonderful.3

Is it too late to join? I know June's pretty far along but the challenge sounds interesting!3

Not too late; just add your posts of what you're doing. xo2 -
Yesterday I got rid of an old bike and a non-working TV that my parents offered to recycle during their town electronics recycling event, and I poked around an antiques market with my mom.4

This is beautiful.2 -
Very busy weekend didn't leave much time for self care, and I could feel the difference in my frazzled mood. Must do better.2

Well, this weekend, I took a break from it all. The food logging, the cardio (only did a mile run each day,) the arm exercises, the fitbit ... It was nice, it was fun. And, now I feel renewed and ready to get back to losing some more weight.4

Hello! I would like to join your challenge. Recently I started seeing a nutrionist and have started walking. Started out at 1/2 mile and in 5 days now up to 2 miles in 27 minutes. My goal for this week is to get up to 2 miles in 24 minutes.4

I typed so much more in the above post, but it only posted a snippet. I wonder why?

I've found if I add smilies from my iPhone (not the forum's ones) it cuts off the rest of the post after them.1 -

@slipchuck
In the app, at the bottom, go to Progress. Up the top there is Weight. Click on that, and you can see waist, etc. Then click on waist, for example, then +.
On the desktop version, you can also add/enter other metrics you want to measure.0 -
Went for a very long walk on a trail in a scenic area. Although it was HOT outside, I really loved just listening to the sounds of nature without music playing.4

June 17 a nice walk with some of favorite music
June 18 watched a sweet movie2 -
30 minute walk.
Picked up some prints of my photos I've taken when walking and running, and bought blank cards at the craft shop to put them on. Have lined up selling them somewhere.3 -
June 17 - Had a nice leisurely day with my family, didn't log food and wrote it off as a cheat day, then got right back into it the next day without feeling guilty.
June 18 - Worked from home in the afternoon with my cat and some reality TV, and bought a couple more plants for my garden.3 -
Heading to Florida for a trip with my friend and daughters. Will be relaxing and full of exercise - we like to power walk on the beach and ride bikes. I also may try something new and go on a dolphin cruise. So, it will be five days of self care in a row. Xo4

@JulieAL1969 have a great trip!
I had so much fun over the past weekend I didn't really need to delegate special time for self care. Back to my normal routine now! Lifted Monday, ran yesterday, lifting today.
I'm still doing 5 minutes of handstand practice every day, and it is making a difference - I can wall plank 60 seconds now, and do an L wall stand with one foot pointed up. I'm starting to feel more confident with weight on my shoulders and less like my head is going to explode.
Cleaned out and sorted my closet so now it only has clothes I like, which fit me, organized so I can find them.
I mentioned earlier buying silly special effects press on nails for my birthday. It turns out I am addicted to press on nails. These are seriously the best thing since sliced bread. I got so many compliments and no one would believe they weren't my real nails. They take about a minute to apply and lasted five days before one started to get loose, and that was with me cleaning house, peeling oranges, and doing stable work. The way I use my hands, I've never had a real mani last more than three days! Definitely going to do this again, and I bought some more of the kind I wore this time - purple/green chrome - for wearing on race days. Plus some more normal looking ones for when I don't necessarily want my fingertips to look like they belong to a space princess. Doing my fingernails is a thing I started as an alternative to rewarding myself with food, but I'm not very good at it, and it takes an annoyingly long time. So this is great!4 -
June 19
walked uphill & then down - enjoying my music on the way up & the gorgeous views on the way down!2 -
June 20: relaxed with a fun movie after a very busy day
June 21: cancelled 2 things & took care of myself...went to a bookstore & browsed happily, found a book I had regretted not purchasing a month ago at a more distant bookstore...relaxed, watched a tv show & had some delicious cherries & strawberries. Self-care is SO necessary.3 -
Decided to leave something that is taking too much time and its stressful5
-
decided to move slowly and not expect too much from myself today...its Friday after a very long, hard emotional week...healing time is allowed.6
-
Haven't posted here in a bit - because I haven't been doing anything for me (other than exercising, staying on track with calories, drinking water.) I need to get back into my hobbies and meaningful off time.6
