JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS - Round 46

I've decided to pay more attention to my moving average weight rather than daily ups & downs, so that's what I'm reporting this round. Also reporting both daily calories & 10-day calorie averages, because I've found the averages mean more in terms of my weight trend, but I still like to see what the daily numbers are.
Goals:
Food ~~ 1330 net calories 10-day average; P 15-25%, C 35-50%, F 25-35%; mostly clean & healthful
Exercise: 60 minutes/day of walking/swimming + yoga/stretch class 3X/week
Weight ~~ looking for a steady or downward trend. Time is not an issue.

7/07 - 147.6 - 1645 - 10-day average 1250
I had a lovely day yesterday, and today promises more of the same. Temp in the low 80s and clear, so I went for a 4-mile walk on our beautiful Rivergreenway in the morning. Did some gardening in the afternoon, and then some housecleaning ( ) because we had friends over for dinner, which was lovely with the gorgeous long evening to sit outside and talk and watch the birds and eat a bit too much (but healthy!). I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
7/08 - 147.7 - 1377 - 10-day ave 1371
We're having a string of gorgeous days - temps in the 80s, brilliant blue skies.... I saw the results of Friday evening's splurge on the scale this morning, but I'm going with the averages, so not letting it stress me out. I worked in the garden for an hour last evening, moving and planting - there's nothing like playing with living color in the dirt to lift the spirits! Off for a walk in a few minutes. Have a lovely day, all!
7/09 - 147.7 - 1553 - 10-day ave 1412
7/10 - 147.8 - 1549 - 10-day ave 1420 - 7-day ave 1456
I didn't have a chance to check in yesterday so just added my data. Calculating averages has turned out to be really useful - I see a much clearer correlation between my 10-day (or 7-day) calorie average and my weight than between daily calorie fluctuations and weight. Since I'm using my moving weight average, changes aren't so startling, but in fact my weight this morning was 149, which makes sense since not just my daily calories but my calorie averages are up a little. So now I can make sensible adjustments. Oh, and I did splurge last night on a half cup of ice cream and had Mexican for lunch, so it all makes sense.
7/11: - 148 - 2035 - 10-day ave 1507
I have no idea why, but yesterday evening I pretty deliberately overate - I haven't had this many calories since May 25, and that was a similar anomaly. Weirdly, I woke up really hungry for breakfast. Go figure. Of course, my weight is up and will no doubt stay up for a couple of days, but focusing on the moving average helps me see the bigger picture. Anyway, that's the end of that foolishness for another long while! I'm just thinking of it s a quick re-feed and moving on. Planning a nice long walk this morning and maybe another this evening.

Well, I'm done with 2 of my 5 workout-classes for the week. I'm so dog-tired. But I know that's my body growing and healing. So I'm ok with it. I'm actually thinking about adding my 0400 runs again. But with the heat/humidity, its not been easy. Well, nothing which is worth having, is easy :-)

July is the month that I will assess what foods I can eat, once in a whi!e, outside of keto. I do not expect any loss of weight. If I eat something that makes me gain or not feel well, then "OFF WITH ITS HEAD! Lol, no, but definitely off of my foods list.

•7/7 - 192.2
•7/8 - 192.6 - I guess I'll be seeing every increment of 192 this challenge. Although, after what I ate today, I expect to see up to 194. I enjoyed my son's Belgian waffles again today. I planned for 2 and thats what I ate at a cost of over 130 grams of carbs, 110 net carbs. EGADS!
•7/9 - 192 - Ended up being 135g carbs / 112g net after eating some green beans for dinner.
•7/10 - 192 - A normal high carb day for me on keto yesterday, 44g, 41 net. Salad greens, lime juice for my water, salsa and a few tablespoons of crispy red peppers as a salad topping.
•7/11 - 191.6 - Oh my, what a surprise! I thought my scale would read 192.4 for sure (I think that's one I skipped) or 193 upwards to 194. Yesterday, I kept the children while my DIL worked. It was the usual busy, fun chaos and I did manage to eat breakfast. I even ate a small peach and several strawberries. 35 net carbs for the day. No second meal for me though (peanut butter to the rescue) and not enough water until after they left. I weighed 5 times and the averaged total was 191, so I chose the number I saw twice. Maybe I will see an increase tomorrow.

Day/Weight/BF%/Comment
7/07 225.9/42.2%/let's do this.
7/08 223.5/41.8%/ MFP calories are too low if this is from day 1, I overate by 600 calories, had a glass of wine and I still lost like this. Hit the macro percentages though. Am going to hold the cals at 1800 (not 1200) and see if that was a fluke. I have essentially been on a 3 year refeed, lol, and although I do want this weight off and am mentally ready to do it now, I do not want to blow up my metabolism for the umpteen millionth time by crashing my way through it. Went on a 5.65 mile hike/walk/run today with the dogs, because I like doing it. Aside from the stuff I like to do, I am really going to try hard to make this about the diet and doing as little as I can to get the scale to keep going in the right direction. It is going to be a long road, 10 days at a time (maybe even one day and one meal at a time), but um, heck yeah, I am excited about how things have started. Yay for newbie gains and trying not to be an idiot.
7/09 227.3/42.8%/😡 going to throw my scale out the window if it doesn't start making sense. Going to try to keep hitting my macros though.
7/10 224.0/42.3%/😏 I told that scale who's boss! Stayed within my cals. Only 5% off on macro splits, but close enough. I weighed in at 227.9 on 7/4, which is (in part) what prompted my return to logging and daily weighing. Maybe these wild fluctuations are just my thing for now? As long as the daily average goes down over time.
7/11 224.3/42.6%/😶 I will take it. Over on cals by 600. Just tired and used food to help boost through the day. About 5% low on my protein too. I got 9h sleep last night though so that should help moving forward. I am down 3.6lb from a week ago and 1.6 from the start of the challenge 4 days ago. Thinking about bumping my calorie goal up 200 cals (especially if I am going to blow it anyway) to see if I can still lose at a rate of about 1.5% of BW a week on a higher goal amount of food. Aiming for what I can do consistently and the minimum possible to achieve the next goal on schedule. Plenty of room on this journey to cut cals later.

I'm a runner and with my daughter's summer schedule & my husband current crazy work schedule (he currently is up at 5 and home after 9) it is hard to fit in time to go out and run. I'm just using her summer school drop off and pick-up as a way to squeeze in getting some running in.

Day/Weight/Comment
7/07: Weight = 164.5 (down .4 from yesterday) Happy to see the scale moving in the right direction to start off this challenge! Yesterday was a good day - was able to squeeze in a short run between thunderstorms and completed day 19 of my exercise challenge which was a Posterior Chain workout (Thigh Jacks, Elevated Bridge Lifts, Triceps Dips, Swimmers, Single Leg Tabletops, 3-Way Calf Raises). So what I learned yesterday, is that I have SUPER weak back muscles. I've found in past workouts that doing Supermans are hard for me but the Swimmer's yesterday showed me just how weak my back is. Swimmers = lie on your stomach with your arms and legs fully extended - lift your arms and legs up and begin to paddle, alternating right leg, left arm up, then left leg, right arm like a swimmer, keep your lower back engaged for 45 seconds x 3. So that's something I definitely need to work on. On to day 20 today which is Cardio Ladders. I hope everyone has a great start to their weekend and to this challenge
7/08: Weight = 162.3 (down 2.2 from yesterday). I KNOW this is not a real loss. Slept in this morning and weighed-in super late so that will account for this low number. I don't expect this to be my weight tomorrow but as long as it is below 164.5 tomorrow, I'll be good. Yesterday I was below calories, on target with macros and completed my day 20 exercises. Around 10 p.m. I found myself doing a few walking laps of my house to get my Fitbit to 10,000 steps - so silly, but hey, it is making me move more. It's a beautiful day here today, and not hot or humid like last week, so going to go enjoy a nice run and then get my day 21 challenge workout. Probably grilling out tonight, love lazy summer days!
7/09: Weight = 162.3 Didn't expect this number to stick around, very surprised but happy! I still won't believe this is a real loss for another day or two. Yesterday was the last day of the break in the heat wave, going back up this week, so I enjoyed being outside and had a great run and then we cooked out last night. Husband cooked a flank steak, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers on the grill and he and our daughter had fajitas and I skipped the tortilla and had mine on top of a brown rice/quinoa grain salad, delicious! I completed day 21 of my exercise challenge which was all about back strengthening, which I need. Capped of the evening watching the Tour de France (so addicted to this every summer), so all in all a nice relaxing weekend. My daughter has extended school year (just 3 days a week during July only) starting this week and we live relatively close to where it is being held, so I'll be walking her there for drop off and walk back for pick-up, so should be adding in some extra calorie burn for the next month. Have a great start to your week, everyone!
7/10: .= 161.8 (down .5 from yesterday) I *think* I've broken through my plateau, I want to see another day in this range and then feel like these are real losses. Yesterday was a good day, I ate under calories and hit my macros, no alcohol, no gluten, lots of water and completed my day 22 challenge exercise which was a lateral/side body circuit workout. Also got in a 30 minute walk with my daughter to do a trial run to see how long it would take to get her to summer school, 15 minutes there and 15 minutes back. Although my plan is to walk her there for drop off and then run home and then run back for pick-up and walk home with her. Anything to get that extra calorie burn! My big happy moment yesterday was when I caught my daughter looking at me and then she said "Mommy, I can see it, you are losing weight. You look different than you did". That being said, I am always careful being the mother of an almost teenage girl, that I tell her I am doing this to get my fitness back and be strong and healthy not to be skinny.
7/11: Weight = 161.8 (same as yesterday) I'm down 10.2 lbs since I recommitted to my weight loss in June. I'm really happy to reach this 1st milestone! Yesterday was good all around, got in lots of exercising and got my most steps since I got my fitbit last week, ate under calories and didn't have any gluten or alcohol. I did my day 23 exercise challenge yesterday which was a full body workout and I'm on tired legs today. Luckily, the scheduled workout for today is Active Recovery with 15 gratitude sun salutations. And the weather is pretty good today too, so I think my daughter and I might mini golf this afternoon, a fun way to get in some steps on this rest day.
