What I call the "forearm hack" is proving to be true as I lose weight too.
An Explanation: To see if a pair of pants are going to be worth trying on, instead of putting it in front of yourself and wrapping around your hips ; You make a fist with the dominant hand, and place your forearm and elbow into the waistline. If it fits your arm, it should fit your waist. I had a coworker show me this one time. I thought it was bull crap at first, but lo and behold it has held true since I first tried it for myself years ago. Even as I have dropped sizes. Even as I have been the same weight but a bigger size. Apparently, your forearm and elbow carry the same body fat percentage as your hips?? Has anyone else tried this I wonder?? I have always wondered if it's one of those weird universal wierd body things, or if it works for some but not all.
Not Universal, unfortunately. Way off for my pants. That is far too big for my waist and too tight ( even for stretch material) for my hips.
Try on JLo brand. I'm Latina and have the same issue - itty bitty waist, big butt. They are cut for more room on the butt and a narrower waist (I can usually find them at Kohl's so they are not expensive). Also, I reaort to a size up in "midrise" that tend to sit on my hips.

Up until I started walking about year and a half ago no way in hell would I wear leggings! I didn't want my flabby thighs looking like sausages in casings. Then I got used to them and dam they are comfy! I wish I had known that sooner. All those years I missed out.
Now I have smaller legs and love to wear them....quite the opposite of most people who have lost weight.10 -

Yes they have lots of leeway for the timeframe that pants size is decreasing.5 -

I thank heavens someone else knows what I mean. My girl friends always act as if I’m bragging on my small waist, when i reality it is a normal size waist and She Hulk thighs and calves. Even as a 120 pound teanager my calves were so big that I couldn’t wear knee length boots because the calves were just too big. And the legs are not really flabby or anything, is mostly muscle!
Leggings look awful on me, that was my problem with the Jlo brand: very tight and stretch material. Way to make my legs look like two sausage links, lol! I don’t find leggings very comfortable either, too form fitting. Dresses with belts are my go to when I’m in between sizes.5 -
I have trouble with legs and pants. My legs have stayed muscular most of my life. It's a bit of vanity, but I rock shorts, especially for a guy about to turn 60. I wish I could get my upper body in that kind of shape as easily.10

After eating much smaller portions and generally more nutritionally dense foods for so long changes your food cravings, at my heaviest I would eat the giant restaurant portion of chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and cole slaw and think nothing of it. Not only does that no longer sound appetizing, but that I can't eat that quantity of food in a single sitting anymore. Unless I order off the kids menu, I have to get a to-go box with any restaurant meal.17

I have to watch my input of super calorie dense treats like pie now (not that I am having much trouble; maintenance is going okay) but I rarely feel like having more portions of an entree or heavy side, which used to be one of my major downfalls. I love fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and coleslaw and every now and then can make room, but I used to eat it often and really have it twice at one meal.5 -
That getting to your “goal weight” may not be what you actually had in mind. I carry weight different now than I did once upon a time ago, so at 134lbs, before I was curvy, perky and not jiggly. This time around not so much... still have extra around the middle and perky is not a word to describe my personality or my body. I have re-evaluated to slowly lose more while trying to gain mussels and see where I go from there.
No regrets on my loss and I feel fantastic with so much energy now and that is something I didn’t think of when I stared my weight loss journey. Feeling so good has become way more important than the way I look ( although I still think I look better than I did) and I can’t believe the positive ways of how this weight loss has affected other areas in my life!30 -

I ordered the equivalent of that meal at Cracker Barrel this evening and could only eat about 1/4 of it.
It's still appetizing but I definitely have less room in my stomach.

Now I'm realizing it was just excuses that she used herself, because now I'm hearing from her "it's so hard to lose weight when you get older" "it's so hard to lose weight after menopause"36

I'm losing the weight I gained after having 2 children - trouble is, they are now 28 and 25! I am also old and post menopausal 😃40 -

Just put some vaseline on your thighs. It lasts for ages and you don't have to layer up.6 -

Committed to a no booze summer. No beer, no mixed drinks, no wine/champagne. Drinking has never been an issue for me but it is all around me regularly every weekend and we went to parties every single weekend of June as well.
It's been H2O or diet beverage only.
I feel great about it-no headaches or hangovers the next day. No bloat, no sweating the scale. And it's very eye opening being the only sober person at a gathering-I hear and see so much more than ever before.35 -
That I will get completely befuddled by what clothes will suit me. I seem to be a different shape from when I was last at this weight. I guess being nearly 20 years older doesn't help but clothes shopping is scarily difficult.22

Sometimes I think I go a little too far with this. At this point, reasonably accurate works. If I start trending a little higher, I just need to aim for a lower goal with reasonable accuracy for a while until get back to the bottom of my range. Reasonable accuracy does mean tracking every single thing, but I don't sweat getting every thing just right. For example, one of my kids made home made blueberry bread. I had a couple of unweighed slices and logged them as 2 slices of home made blueberry bread from the mfp database. I have no clue who entered that and how accurate that is; it could be off a couple of hundred calories for all I know. maybe today I will be off a couple of hundred in the other direction. Or not - the scale might creep up and I might have to trend lower.18 -
That fat drops in odd ways. I noticed a difference in my hips the other day- left side has dropped noticeably more fat than the right. Eventually it will even out. Just a great reminder that the body has its own agenda when it comes to picking which fat it burns first. (I giggle at articles that claim they know the secret to targeting fat loss in specific areas.)
Another thing I've noticed lately it that my fingers feel different when they are interlocked. It's a more comfortable feeling. Not sure how to explain it properly.20 -

That is one of the best moments.
This one just dawned on me -The moment you realize you don't hear that *schwip schwhip* noise of the jeans rubbing against your thighs as you walk. Like I feel my thighs touching when I walk, but they aren't rubbing.
EDIT: Wait I lied! .. Sort of. I still hear the noise but it's mostly my knees now, lol. And also my thighs rub, but not as hard as they once did, lol. Still counts, I think. I believe this new pair of jeans I'm wearing will last more then a year before the inevitable thigh blow out if I keep this up. Maybe I'll blow out a knee this time instead, haha. My last ones died all at once and were less then a year old. All ripped in the thighs.19
