Uggghhh I have relosing the pounds that I put on when I fall off the wagon. 4th of July in the middle of the week was bad for me. A 2 week period where I didn't just over eat but shoved food in my face. It's sad that I do that. I don't even enjoy what I'm eating....I'm just shoving more in.

Well back to tracking. This work week I'm going carb free again to give myself a kick in the pants.

One of my biggest struggles with changing my diet is monotony. I grew up in a home that ate well, but. It healthy. My knowledge of healthy cooking is slim. Last Monday, I braced myself and tried two new foods- spinach and mushrooms. Surprisingly, I enjoyed both. So, every day for a week I had a shrimp,
Spinach, and mushroom egg scramble for breakfast. Now, I have hit the wall. The thought of a scrambled egg makes me sick. I need inspiration. What are some of your healthy breakfast ideas that beak up the monotony. FYI- this morning I had grilled shrimp and spinach fettuccine because “breakfast foods” did not sound appealing.

    Thanks!

@shutchens -- I find that consistency helps me eat healthy, but like you, I sometimes get tired of the same meals over and over. My typical breakfast is a couple of egg whites and a serving of leftover meat from last night's dinner b/c I eat better throughout the day if I start with protein. However, when I need a change (i.e. carbs!), I make myself Kodiak protein pancakes. I also like to keep a bowl of hard boiled eggs in the fridge, and some mornings I'll cut up a couple of those in a salad instead of the egg whites. Also, there are some good "noodle" substitutes made from chick peas or soybeans that I keep around if I'm craving pasta. Not that I never eat real pasta, but I try to avoid "white" foods when possible. :)

@trinati2001 -- Been there as well, but you can do this! Low carb always helps me get back on track as well.

AFM--I had a couple of days this weekend that I didn't even log properly because I was just busy. I know I was over goal on Saturday, but Sunday I barely ate anything (mostly due to being a wee bit hungover LOL). As of Monday, I was back to logging and I also went to the gym for the first time in a month. I did make sure to stretch after my workout, but I haven't been the best at this week's focus. Will try to do better going forward.

I just finished off some keto muffins. coconut flour and chia seeds for the body and I used a little fruit as the sweetener. There are lots of youtube videos for various low carb, yet real food, baked goods. If you aren't much for cooking, search chia seed puddings.

@pneschich -- good to hear from you and glad to know you are still making progress toward your goal!

AFM--Hi everyone! I've had a strange week. Monday and Tuesday were very typical days for me food-wise, and I was just slightly over calorie goal each day. However, Tuesday night I was having trouble falling asleep due to a gnawing hunger. My stomach was growling as if I hadn't eaten in days. I ignored it, and when I awoke Wednesday morning, I was ravenous. I ate a very large salad, with not 1, but 2 hard boiled eggs before going to work for a couple of hours of planning with a colleague. While at work, I drank a 100 calorie coffee beverage, but I was so hungry when I left there to go to a friend's house, that I stopped at starbuck's to pick up a breakfast sandwich. This weird feeling of hunger continued throughout the day no matter what I ate. By the end of the day I had eaten almost 400 calories above my allowance (so basically maintenance). By bedtime, I was no longer hungry, but felt slightly light-headed and nauseous.

I slept well and felt great this morning. I'm about 300 calories over goal due to lunch out with some friends, but otherwise, back to normal. Not really sure what was going on yesterday.

I'm finally seeing some downward trends from my couple weeks of stall/gain. There have been many times I have not recorded my weight, since I really didn't want to see the graph go up, I know it's not being honest with myself.

I went to fleet feet and got fitted yesterday, and I also bought a foam roller. Rolling is easier said than done, but I felt better. I took a 1 mile walk in my new shoes and they weren't as comfortable as they were walking around the store. I'm going to continue to break them in, and I have 60 days to return if needed. I successfully did 2 days of the couch to 5k program!

@heather --congrats on your new shoes!! Since I became a runner, I have a difficult time walking into a shoe store without leaving with a new pair of runners. LOL!

@allison --I think my bump is also due to sodium from eating out yesterday.

@dallas --sometimes life interferes with our focus, but you had a nice loss nonetheless--congrats!

AFM--I had a slight gain, probably due to eating out and my 2 days of eating more calories than usual. I think I may have also been stressed about work--which sucks because I'm on summer break. However, I'm teaching a class that I've never taught--Media and Film. Of course, I've taught a lot of the skills, but I was struggling to figure out a schedule and pacing because the curriculum I was given is vague. Also, I'm the only person teaching the course this fall, so I'm on my own for planning. I worked on it for 2 hours yesterday, but I was still sort of lost. Then, this morning I took my car in to get it detailed and spent the 2.5 hours figuring out my calendar/lessons for the first 3 weeks, and I feel a lot better now.

Saturday: success: I’ve logged steadily over 30 days now and even when I go over my daily calories (way way over sometimes) I have that desire to do better the next day and keep getting back on the wagon. I used to feel like eff it and I’d sabotage myself for days/ weeks at a time- now I have this desire to continue!

Another success is I’m coming back to doing my at-home yoga practice :)

    Hi guys!

My Saturday Success is that I went for a run outside today and took the dog on 2 walks. I don't think anyone posted about a focus for this coming week, but I'm going out of town for a few days, so my focus is going to be to try to keep it in check and make up for any indulgences those few days by being extra disciplined the rest of the week.

July 13- 248.2. I don’t think I will make my July goal. I’m torn between feeling desperate to make sure I make it, and being zen about the fact that I have a lot of weight to lose and just being happy about losing at any pace. I see posts all the time from people who lost 100 pounds in a year and for some reason I am fixated on that as a goal…and I am not on pace to manage that. Why oh why am I getting so down on myself when I’m actually doing WELL to lose AT ALL?

I had such a good week. I was on or under calories each day. I exercised four days, and then I blew it yesterday. I had hoped to break below the 320s, but had a crazy family dinner which really frustrated me. I then buried my feelings with a pint of Haagen Daz and didn't break the 320s. I'm sure I'll break it in the next few days, but I really wanted that win this weekend.

I know I'm whiny, but I guess I need a little support or encouragement. I should be happy because I've tracked for 22 days, and lost 15.8 pounds. Okay, now to have a healthy dinner, finish my day under my calories, and break the 320s on Sunday of next week.

Thanks for listening, and here's to a great week.

Is this your first time exercising? If you are on this thread you, like me, have substantial weight to lose, meaning body awareness is super important because we can be susceptible to injury. If you aren't familiar with exercising or your body's response to exercise, then either take it slow or find an experienced trainer to help you determine if your pain will equal gain or lead to injury.
    Keep moving, be safe 😊
