@MegaMooseEsq i can't say it's an achievable goal for ALL people but i think it is for many and the training doesn't take all day for the turtle team. i could go do my long run in the morning and still meet people for brunch.

Less than four miles away from my goal! I had my first 20-miler yesterday and was very pleased with how it went. Average pace was 9:24, same average pace as my 2nd (final) 20 miler while training for chicago last year, but my average HR was much lower than last year and I took significantly fewer stops. I also had enough energy left in me to walk a mile to the farmer's market afterwards, and then walk the mile back home carrying a huge watermelon! Another big win is that I hit 50 miles this week, which is tied for highest mileage week I've ever ran. I was able to actually have a life this time around though, instead of being completely exhausted all the time like I was when I hit 50 two years ago All in all, I think training is going really well, and I am cautiously optimistic that I could maybe be in BQ shape by the time October rolls around!
Upcoming Races
10/07: Chicago Marathon
11/04: Hot Chocolate 5K
11/25: Space Coast Half Marathon

Got 6 on the boat yesterday... 146.50 for the month... Hope I can find 3.5 by tomorrow... but all these mojitos are conspiring against me15

Sign me up for the turtle team!
@5BeautifulDays 5 miles is 5 miles ma'am, fast slow or otherwise.
@marisap2010 Work multiplying, hate it when that happens!
@mbaker566 Speed demon and the old girl look great. Too funny on her refusing to move until otw back to the vehicle
2.46 miles of intervals this morning for 47.10 on endomondo and 6.2 treadmill totals of 53.3/50 miles for the month.3 -
The 45K distance at my trail race set a new course record by a full 25 minutes. 3:25 and change.
If I can ever get back into weight loss mode long enough to be close to a healthy BMI I want to do that race. Up the mountain then down the mountain... The winner was just flying when he passed us with a mile to go. Looked like he had a blast.7 -
@ariceroni that 20 miler was awesome! And a 50 mile week is tremendous! You really sound like you will be ready to CRUSH the Chicago marathon in October and get your BQ!!!
@LaDispute57 you are on vacation. Let the mojitos win!!2 -
Afternoon 10+k with another friend. 10k is her longest run, but she's been making that her regular long run lately. It was hotter than we're used to with our typical morning running, and there are more hills on my side of the city, so I think I went too fast and hope she'll still run with me again We went through the woods, past the secret military base, out some back roads, the factory that always smells like chicken bullion, a cemetery of foreign soldiers from WWI, and through a field - some of my favorite places to run. Weirdest thing I saw was a bunch of pickles laying by the trail in the woods. I have no explanation for this, but am sure there is a reasonable one out there.
Upcoming races:
August 18 Chmielakowy Half Marathon (Krasnystaw)
August 26 Kolbudy 10k, Bąkowo (Kashubia)11 -

i've seen a few times people with a map on the back of their shirt and they x or color in the state. some are nonspecific but i met an adorable couple in WA who were doing half marathons in each state. they did one in Fort Atkinson in WI so we bonded over the awesomeness of the state
I like the shirt idea! I'm still quite a few miles away from half marathon distance, but I suspect it might be a good distance for me. A half in every state sounds like a fun goal!
There is a 50 states marathon club and I'm pretty sure there is a 50 states half marathon club too. I'm thinking about joining the 50 states marathon club at some point since distances beyond marathon still count. So a 50K, for example, still counts as a marathon as long as the other rules are followed (it has to have 10 finishers, has to be published, etc.).3 -

@PastorVincent We just need @AlphaHowls and @JessicaMcB to run some virtual miles for us.
I need 52km so 2 - 26km.2 -

Someone must have drank the juice and left the pickles!

We actually bring pickles to XC/T&F meet because it stops muscle cramping. Right now I have a HUGE jar of dill pickles in my refrigerator. Skip got a really bad cramp one time and drank some of the juice out of the jar and in a short time the cramp was completely gone. Mustard does the same thing, she tried that once, she hates mustard and after about 5 minutes thew it up, but the cramp was gone.1 -

Many people speak to the power of pickle juice as a recovery drink. It has a high concentration of salt which is probably why. I mean it is essentially drinking flavored salt water

Didn’t get to run yesterday in NY. A shame since the weather was beautiful for running... instead I ate breakfast on my in-laws deck and relaxed all morning. I’m not too upset 🙂
Today we drove 10.5 hours home and after unpacking I headed out for an easy 4 miles. It was sprinkling when I headed out and raining by the time I finished. Shortly after coming inside it started raining buckets! Glad I finished when I did! The rain definitely made the run feel cooler even though it was humid.

July is all done and I'm nearly 20 percent over my goal which I'm very pleased with. August will be a much quieter month as I have a half on the 25th so will be tapering for a couple of weeks prior, and the week prior to that (next week) I'll be sunning myself in Fiji and will only run if I damn well feel like it!!
