@katrina-- Thanks for the update on our numbers!! I was also hoping to be further along toward my goal at this point, but at least I'm lower than at the start of the summer. We went to Sherman's on a Wednesday at around noon and there was NO LINE!!! First time for everything, I guess.

AFM--second Foo Fighter's concert last night was awesome, and I ended up under my allowance by over a thousand calories because I ate a turkey burger at my mom's before going and only drank 2 light beers on the party bus from the train to the venue. Drank water the rest of the night, and between the dancing and the walking, I was way under. I was too tired to eat when I got home, so I woke up famished. I made up for some of that deficit today--about 500 calories over--but still a deficit overall, so I'm happy.

I didn't really focus on anything this week. I really overate last Saturday, so I'm glad to see a nice loss. We went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, and I ate more than my share of chips and queso, then I had chicken Flautas and ate almost all the beans and rice that came with it. I was so full, I thought I was going to die. But i had salads with lo-cal dressing (Bolthouse farms Ceaser! Only 45 cals) and some protein each day for lunch, so I'm feeling I made up for the yummy restaurant food.

Started the AIP Protocal diet Tuesday. Very strict and supposed to help autoimmune disorders. On phase 1 and eating too many carbs though they are all fruit and veggie. Will later move to phase 3 and most carbs will go Have noticed I'm walking better, sugar is better and pain is some improved,. Still no energy, but I don't think I am eating enough meat and protein. Spent most of the day shopping and cooking, so I have some meals prepared.

7/27-8/3 Focus: finding comfort in something other than food. How i did- I really enjoy creating art- drawing, esp and I filled several sketch pages this week in the evenings, mindlessly doodling instead of mindlessly eating. I also love music, singing and dancing and when I had an evening free of husband and kids, spent it cleaning, dancing and singing.

    Next week's focus: water intake!

All of your check-ins are inspiring!
I'm new to the community forums and looking to comment with others for some support. Had a pretty miserable night (thankful for my husband for caring for me through my meltdown). Have been doing well with exercise and diet until I got a little lax last year then had a knee injury for several months and gained all the weight back. I'm starting again, not only still strengthening my knee again but with eating better. I've had good weeks so far, but the last few days I feel like I've been dragging myself through this, until my meltdown tonight.

So I realized I need some support and found the community section and this thread.

    Thanks

Just watched a new Netfix documentary called
    The Bleeding Edge

    Every woman should watch this!
But also anyone considering using any surgical implant (like a hip) with metal in it.
It’s not graphic like the title suggests.
Mostly ultra sounds, x-rays and animations of medical devices.
There are answers to questions you’ve probably asked but nobody knew the answers to.

Weight gain in this country is not always what it seems

Ok, so I wrote a really long comment and deleted it by accident. Hi, my name is Ginger. I am a 47 yr old female who is 5'2. I joined mfp back in 2011 and lost 45 lbs. Then life happened, as life does, and I stopped. I started at I believe 230 lbs. I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and was put on a medicine called Trulicity. Since then, I started at 214 lbs. I now weigh 199.8 lbs. I really really need more friends with open diaries. Mine is open and I am an open book. I am married with a 28 yr old son. I am committed to logging in eveyday. I work a desk job 40 hrs a week. I do not get much exercise but plan on changing that. I love the Lord and give Him the glory for any successes I have. I do struggle....everyday. I hope to receive some friend requests. I will return the support 😘 Thx for reading!

Nice to meet you. I have a desk job too, diabetes type 2 and am overweight and love the Lord. I am 56 years old with three grown children (all still at home, 2 in college and 1 just finished college) and a wonderful husband.

@Teerai --sounds like an interesting documentary--I will have to put it on my watchlist. Thanks.

@KATRENAJ --welcome back! Glad to hear you are feeling better. That's way more important than the scale. Stick with it and I'm sure it will start to move. :)

@hduke1977 --Welcome tothe thread. This is a great group for support and motivation.

    @katrina-- very pretty!

@heather-- life doesn't stop, and we all deserve to enjoy a special meal out once in a while. Sounds like you made up for it. :)

AFM--I had a really good drop this week; lost the excess from vacation in MI last week plus a pound or so.

Looking for friends for inspiration and will return the same. I need to lose 100 pounds. I like using MFP, it keeps me on track. About me: I love the Lord, church is a big part in my life as well as my kids (now all grown up) and my husband. Live in a suburb, work full time. I like sweets more than salty (hence the extra weight). I'm a optimistic person and I like to encourage others. I hope we can be friends.

Hello and Welcome to the newbies! Jump right in here, we're all nice. We're closing up a summer challenge, but I know there will be a fall one. Basically, weigh in each week, no matter if it's a loss, maintain, or gain. Sometimes we have weekly focuses to go alongside the challenge.

I need to refocus this week. Diet was great last week (except the weekend) but I only hit the gym twice. The week after a fresh hair dying is always my laziest week. I don't want to wash my hair more than I have to and wash away the dye. My hair fades very fast no matter the color, but purple never stays more than a month.

Hooowdeee Everyone! Foozer here just popping in to say hello! This week has been an amazing week for me🤪 I didnt let binging deter me from my goals! I can RECOVER from them! Im not a loser! All I have to do is KEEEP GOING!!! No more quitting, no more guilt, no more self inflicted wounds! In one month my glucose readings have gone from over 400 to 111! Im getting familiar with what self love really means. My momma wouldn't keep whooping me for stealing a cookie so why have I repeatedly kept whooping my own behind! I should call child protective services on myself... loI! I feel so much strength at 300 lbs. and I cant wait to feel two hundred! Im gonna be 60 in January and for the first time I don't see that as a bad thing!!! No matter how long it takes😁 I don't even care if it takes five years, Im gonna enjoy each and every step of success!

I had to buy a new scale yesterday, my old one was very cheap and about 4 years old. It just started saying "err" and I couldn't get it to reset. I've been thinking about a new scale for a while, one with body fat and other readings, so that's what I picked up. I wish I had a body fat reading from when I started 24 pounds ago!

My hubby and I are vacationing in October in Seattle. I want to fly without a seat belt extender. I want to wear this cute dress I bought last year and never even tried on because I was so convinced it wouldn't fit me. I need to try it on now, really. It went straight from the mail to a hanger in a closet in a spare room.

The virtual 5k I signed up for give you 2.5 months to train then submit your time. I don't think I'll be running at all, it hurts my back. So now I'm going to focus on my walking endurance and speed. I started using the elliptical at the gym, I'm not sure if I like it better than the Arc trainer yet.

I was house sitting for a professor this week, and I didn’t exercise or eat right. So, the gain isn’t a surprise. I am getting back on track. I start my fall semester on Wednesday, August 15, and I don’t want that sluggish feeling from eating crap and not exercising.

@michelle-- It's hard to stay on track when in a new environment--good for you for getting right back at it. My gain this week also wasn't a surprise, but I'm struggling to get back to better eating. I'm hopeful that the start of the school year (for me it's this Friday) and a more structured schedule will help.

@heather-- I've always wanted to go to Seattle. I have some friends who moved there a couple of years ago, and I still haven't made it out to visit them.

@foozer-- I LOVE your positivity!! Hoping that it's catching because I need to get back in gear. LOL

AFM-- I had a rough week last week and weighed in 2 pounds up on Friday. Today the scale was even higher, so I'm not doing well with reversing that trend. Last week was a lot of unhealthy eating and not enough exercise, but this week I'm just struggling with food choices as I wrap up some social visits before going back to work on Friday. On the plus side, I bought some healthier options; now I just need to prepare them.

I don't know if it's a fluke, the new scale, or I did better this week than originally calculated...I didn't do anything different, and actually I did less then usual. I skipped yesterday and today at the gym, overate Friday night by a lot. I'll take it though!

Dagnabbit! I keep wrestling with the same 2-4lbs this month, lol. While I would really have liked my loss to be more linear, I'm actually quite satisfied with how things are going (shockingly!) I have been indulging greatly on the weekend when we camp (which is often, as you have no doubt surmised!) And then reining things back in during the week. Which is why the yoyo-ing. So, why am ok with this? Because I'm learning how not to let myself go completely just because I overindulged for a day or two (or 4...) and how to get right back on track. I'm learning I need accountability and I'm becoming ok with being transparent about my struggles and asking to be held accountable- instead of finding judgement, I've found more support! And it really helps me be honest with myself about how much effort I'm putting in.

@skinnyjeanzbound - Thank you! I try to look at the positive instead of the negative. I normally just go off and stay off. However, I have been holding in a 10 to 15 pound range. I do get a little sad when I think how far I could be if I had stayed on track this entire time, but I will get there in my own time.

I started back at college this week which I think will help me get back on track and stay there. I work twenty hours a week as a graduate assistant, and I am enrolled in four classes. So, I will be pretty busy this semester. Hopefully, I don't get too stressed out and want to stress eat.

So, from the time I arrived in Alaska and all through my drive back through Canada to my home, I did not have Internet access or my computer. I actually brought my computer and ended up getting it repaired in Anchorage so even the days I had access, I didn’t have my document to edit. The trip was fantastic and it was great to have that much time alone with my dad. He is supportive of my efforts and said I really look great (nice to hear) but in reality he has no idea how to support someone who is trying to get healthy and stay that way. He’s not obese or anything, just a lifelong enabler

After 1 month of logging I've lost 9 pounds and a total of 12 inches throughout my body! Especially my thighs at 5 inches each! If anyone would like to add me feel free! :) i need motivation and food ideas. Somedays it feels impossible to reach my goal but I won't give up!
