Good morning all! Happy Saturday! Up, having coffee and waiting for my seven year old to arrive. We have a day at the beach planned for today. His choice. We are going to head to the State Park beach because they are having a sand sculpture contest. I like to see the sculpture; just not crazy about all of the people. Oh well, it's only one day, and I am sure he will enjoy it.
Michele- I guess my post about Machka's ceremony was a bit confusing. Her ceremony was 11am Saturday (Aussie time) which made it 9pm Friday (ET) for those of us in the ETZ to watch.
Machka- Woo-hoo! Congrats! Much cheering going on here for you, last night! So proud of you! What an end to an eventful school term!
Heather-Congrats on the Britannia Club honors! lol Although, knowing you, I bet you'd rather have a cocktail party with the crew member you find most interesting, than with the captain. I wonder what kind of swag you get for getting to the Diamond status?!?
Pip- Is that Floyd with the mustache? Did he get into something? I don't remember any of your dog's having facial hair (well, lol, mustachioed facial hair)
Katla-safe travels as you go to spend time with your family and get some baby time in!
Allie- AWww! My heart hurts for you! I have had those kind of days and sometimes I just curl up in a ball and wish for a "do-over" in life. BUT...sometimes a really fast walk (or run) helps. Or...have you ever tried shadowboxing? Just getting your arms pumping in front of you and hitting an imaginary enemy helps release the stress, get frustration out, and raise your endorphins (which will make you feel emotionally better). Try it. You might feel silly at first, but it really helps! Hugs to you!
News on the homefront: DYS is up for a new position with his job. It will double his pay and also give him bonuses for meeting his sales goals. Hooray! He is really excited, this would enable him to pay off his student loans within a couple of years, enable him to get his own place, AND allow him to put $$ away into savings. I think watching your children become a financially stable and independent has GOT to be one of the best feelings in the world.
Joaquin moves up to the next age level this week, at his daycare! Now that he is walking/running and following basic commands he is moving in with the bigger kids! DD is very happy, because the group he is with now, has a younger child who is a biter and has gotten Joaquin a couple of times.
That's all I've got this morning! Hope you all have a wonderful day/weekend! Love and hugs ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Rye Oh my gosh, so sorry to hear about the black eye! Sending strength to get that packing done well and properly as you go throught the pre-emotions of your trip to see your family. I hope it's a fulfilling, wonderful time.
Wendy You are truly the Horse Whisperer. Lady is so lovely.
Machka Your graduation "nod, walk, and turn" were flawless. You looked self-confidant and self-assured in your graduation garb. Congratulations on this achievement!
Heather Good for you going out to run in the cold! I think the reward system your cruise company offers sounds nice! Who wouldn't want champagne and leather luggage tags?
Barbara Kind of aggravating about that trip permit.
(((Allie)))
Kelly I hope you see a fabulous sand sculpture that makes up for the crowds. I don't like crowds either.

I go to work this morning at 9 a.m. I'm in the middle of a 10 day marathon, scheduled to work 8 of those days. I am halfway through - I guess lots of people are on vacation, so the rest of us are picking up the slack...
Karen in Virginia, enjoying my coffee with my Bailey boy snuggled up against me
p.s. The tomato pie dinner was delish. And the gazpacho is heavenly. I'd like to eat it for breakfast this morning but will restrain myself and just take a portion with me to work for lunch.

Machka - very nice... thank you for sharing that with us! Congratulations once more.
Finishing up last minute details for my now two-week trip. Trying to keep all plans adjustable, to the extent that I can, as things always change. Been thinking about my travel schedule AFTER this trip, with another trip in mid-September and two in October. As determined as I have been to stay off of small planes from here on out, a day of flying, even with all the hassle, still beats two days of driving, any way you go around it, and it takes me two days to get to El Paso, which is where my first September trip will take me. And my reluctance to get on a plane tends to shrink along with my steadily shrinking tuckus, which is helpful.
Going out to the mountain house today to see how much work we can accomplish. DH and DS are taking yet another trailer load of trash to the dump, with many more loads in our future. These people were MESSY. I have to get on with getting rooms ready to paint. Getting into the house by mid-October, which we're hoping to do, means prioritizing those spaces that must be completed in order to move in. Bathroom, first and foremost, then our bedroom, then the living room and my office, in that order. Every month we're not in the rental will save us at least $1,500. It just lends some urgency to the process. Frustrating for me to be gone so much right now... but them's the breaks, you know?
And speaking of money, the DH got his second raise in 90 days yesterday--they gave him his first raise before he even got his first paycheck, as they wanted to see whether he could do everything he told them he was capable of... which of course, he did, and now another 90 days later. So proud of that man.
I hear him stirring, so I'll go get some coffee going for him.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR, until tomorrow morning, then on the road

Rye - do have a listen to that podcast. I defy you not to pipe your eye. BBC RADIO 4 SOUL MUSIC Mr Blue Sky.
Have a great trip. Families are always a test.
KJ & Karen - Actually two of the captains we've had have been quite the comedy turn, with their daily announcements the highlight of the day! The other one was very nice as well, very self deprecating. It's the other Britannia members that are the problem! Still, I'll take it! I might need a new dress as I've worn the same two for three cruises, one of which was borrowed!
Made some lovely fresh pesto this morning. Having it for dinner with zoodles for me, tagliatelle for DH, and garlic prawns with arugula. Had a thin spread on my focaccia for lunch with sundried tomatoes and Parma ham. Salad. Heaven!5 -
I’m better natured in the daytime than in the middle of the night, I promise! Doing my morning ritual with Kidd Kirby on my lap right now. I hope he is ok while we are out of town. He’ll have two people checking on him, but no me for morning cuddles.
Wendy the color on those pics is so fantastic! Looks like a very lovely day!
KJ I love sand sculptures. I wish I could go with you. But I do agree that the crowds at the beach can be somewhat trying. I hope it is a beautiful and fun day.
KarenEnjoy that gazpacho! I’m glad the 10 day marathon at work is half past for you, I agree summer vacations are probably the culprit.
Kidd Kirby on my lap this morning. I probably post too many cat pictures, especially of Kidd, but, hey, isn’t that what the internet is for? Lol.Kidd Kirby sure makes hard to not be a slug-a-bed!

Good morning all -
Machka - Congrats again! A well deserved celebration of you!
Rye - Love your cat pics almost as much as I love Pips dog pictures. I'm a dog person who also loves other peoples cats. I hope your time with your family is stress free and enjoyable.
Our AC wasn't working well again so I spent a few nights in the guest room. The AC guy was out yesterday and it is working great again now. Hubs got home last night just in time for us to be back in the master bedroom. I got the guest room cleaned up and back together before he ever got home. I pulled something in my side while getting the attic stairs down to climb up and see what was going on up there so I'm babying my side for a few days. It only hurts when I move a certain way so it doesn't hurt when I am sitting still.
Have a great weekend ladies! Welcome to the newbies, hugs to those struggling, cheers to those celebrating!

Janetr: Our grandson is almost 7 months old. We haven't seen him since January, so this is a treat.
Machka: Congratulations on your graduation!!!!! :flowerforyou:
Wendy: Lady is a gorgeous horse.
Barbara: DS and his family will be with us for 10 days. I can hardly wait to see them.
KJ: Thanks for your good wishes. This time my son and his family are coming to see us. I can hardly wait to see them.
Lisa in AR: Congratulations to your DH on his great work performance and raise. :flowerforyou:
We live in an area where there are numerous Osprey. They come every year to the same nest and raise a brood of babies. Then mom and dad go off to separate locations in Mexico to spend the winter. They have quite a long life expectancy and we noticed a bird land on top of a weather vane on our homeowner's gazebo--just exactly the way he did as a young bird about a decade ago. I recently learned that they have a 30 year life expectancy. Seeing wildlife right here in the middle of town is one of the things we love about our home.

Allie I recently sold my house to one of those "We buy houses for cash" places (a company called Integrity, they might not operate outside of PA, but I'm sure there are similar in your area). I got a very fair price, no inspection or formal appraisal needed, no realtor fees, cash settlement possible within 7 days, and no cleanout needed, I took what I wanted & left all the junk behind. I could not have been happier with how it worked out. Everything was handled professionally and efficiently. They gave me 50% down when I signed the contract, settlement took fifteen minutes at an independent attorney's office and I walked out with a check for the balance. No stress, no fuss.

Good Morning!
Kelly: I am cleaning out the garage one box at a time. I have actually put a set of Blue Willow dishes on eBay and I already have a bidder! Yeah! I’m saving cash up for my trip in October to Las Vegas. I took an Aqua Boot Camp class at the Y. I’ll return to that soon.
Terry: Tumeric. I take 350mg a day, which is one capsule. I see a big difference in my ankles!
There’s an Estate Sale going on up the street. They must have some good stuff as cars are going by left and right. I’ll have to head over there!
I better get going. We’re driving out to the Amity Trade Fair this morning before it gets too hot!
Talk to you later!

Just want to thank everyone here for sharing their lives! Today I looked up osprey to see what kind of bird that was. I am constantly looking up the foods that several of you mention. The photos of your landscapes, children, pets, etc. are beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing!

DS & DDIL are coming to see us and bringing our youngest grandson with them. We are excited and happy about it. We have purchased a foldable crib/playpen. We had one years ago for our granddaughter but DD needed a spare for her babysitter at the time, so we took ours to her. We just bought a new one to keep at our house for our son and DDIL's visit with baby Theo. DD is not planning on more children. She has a girl and two boys. DS and DDIL would like to have another. I am thrilled to be a Grammy. My only wish is that they all lived closer to us. I'm afraid that wish is not likely to come true unless we move near them. Maybe someday, but we are very happy here for now & for the foreseeable future.

I'm watching Machka's graduation ceremony online now. Fun! Love the accents.Rori - I was watching it, too. Then it timed out and I lost the connection. I'm going to try again. I can't get over some of the names!
Michele in NC
I don't even notice the accent anymore. Evidently my accent comes across as Irish most of the time.
And most of my classmates are Asian. Some of them will use an English name too but that is becoming less common.KetoneKaren wrote: »Machka is between 48:00 and 49:00.
Yep ... that's me!
M in Oz
Machka - congrats! Job well done! I think I need my hearing checked again.... I've watched between 48:00 and 49:00 several times... do you go by a different name? Saw some long haired shorter gals that could have been you. Is there someone right before you that would give me a clue?
Michele - not sure which of the commode lights Beth used - Beth, can you shine a light on the brand? LOL!
I hope to get caught up with you ladies this weekend, been skipping around way too much! Have a good weekend all - much cooler here today and hoping we get some dust-settling sprinkles at least.... it's in the forecast but they don't seem to hit the mark with their precip predictions. Heat they can generally nail pretty well.

The toilet lights are made by Bubblehead ... they call them "glow-bowls."
Machka ... congratulations!
We are in the process of gathering up my son's things for his return to school on Thursday. I get very melancholy about this process and just this week, when I was discussing painting his room, he casually informed me that he doesn't plan to return next summer (between his junior and senior year). If he can swing it (because I can't subsidize it), this makes sense given his career path, but my heart just broke. I will choose joy that he's moving forward with his life, but I'm sad ...
I started weeding this morning while it was cool and damp and ran into a patch of poison ivy in my pool enclosure! Need to get rid of that for certain.

Katla - So happy for you with the visit of your grandson. At least at 7 months he is too young to be "into everything". I find that stage the most difficult, but 7 months is one of the best.
Beth - (((HUGS))) Missing your children is perfectly normal, but you could take this as a wonderful opportunity! Make your own life your next project!
I zonked out this afternoon. Fell asleep for 50 minutes, then still felt absolutely knackered. I hope I'm not sickening for something, feel slightly nose achy, but it's probably just a reaction to all the stress of the last few weeks. I'm giving myself permission to be a slug.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -
Lanette, when I went to the link, it took me directly into a live ceremony which I watched for ages. The time line was going weird, so I could't just move the curser to 48. I couldn't see her and then the ceremony finished. I was puzzled. So I went out of it and then tried again. This time I realized there were 3 ceremonies on that link and I was watching the wrong one. I had to watch the 11am ceremony and yes, it is a different name, but you will recognise the face! Wendy3

Did Gilad’s 45/45 split DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Weight Loss Yoga DVD
M – very very big congrats. You looked fantastic! Fortunately, I saw you shortly before I lost the connection. I just watched your graduation again, and you looked wonderful. What an accomplishment!
KJ – congrats to your son
Newcomers puts out an “Items of Interest” newsletter. Evidently, the gal that I play mahjongg with on Monday night is looking for a large crate. I knew she was going to get a dog in Oct. We have one that Jess had when she trained the service dog, so it’s a large one. I’m still not sure if she just wants to borrow it for a few months or if she’s looking to buy one. If she’s looking to buy one, Jess needs to talk to her about price.
On another note, I don’t know if I told you, these ladies are putting together this “Summer Soiree” social. To me, their proposed budget was WAAAYYYY out of line, but the president approved it. Now she doesn’t have the money for a holiday party and hence the “problem” with having a sponsor underwrite it. Anyway, neither Vince or I are interested in this “Summer Soiree”. It’s being held at this country club, supposed to be a dressy affair, with a DJ. Personally, I don’t care to get all dressed up. Well, if it were up to me, if someone asked why we weren’t going, I’d just be honest and say “I’m not interested”. Vince feels (why I really don’t know) that a reason should be made. Now Jess is coming home this weekend but he’s saying that she’s coming home next weekend (when this Summer Soiree is) and that’s why we can’t go. I just realized that if this woman asks Jess when she came home, Jess most likely will be honest. Really, if Vince doesn’t want to go to a lunch (and this just happened) but I want to go, I go and just say that the reason he isn’t there is that he didn’t want to go. So what’s the big deal? The ladies (all 7 of them! When we had the magician social, it was just Vince and I who made all the arrangements) are having the checks for it made out to Newcomers but not being sent to the Newcomer box (like it’s usually done) but having the checks sent to one of the ladies. Vince asked her “how are you going to endorse them, how are you going to deposit them”. The answer? “Well, no one told the committee that the checks should be mailed to the box”. One of the ladies on this committee used to be the treasurer! You mean to tell me that she didn’t realize that they didn’t have any way of endorsing or depositing these checks? Vince just told the woman who is having the checks mailed to her that if she gets any cash, he needs to know the names of the people that the cash is from (for his records)
Rye – post as many pics of Kidd Kirby as you’d like. I love looking at all the pics, the animals, kids, skyline’s…the list goes on and on.

Trying a few more Keto recipes. Still contemplating. I changed my goals to the Keto percentages. I’m going to watch the pie chart for a few days with eating my regular choices and see how far off I am. I can’t bring myself to throw away good food, so I’m going to eat up the pinto beans, the chia seed pudding, the cereal and the oatmeal while I do more research.5 -
