Hi everyone - newish to this challenge (not to MFP!) and a bit late to this round... Goal for this round is to FINALLY get under 80 kg bc it is just way too high of a number for me and I am fed up with it. And I love the accountability this challenge gives me!

8/06 80.8 kg (178.1 lbs)- down from the weekend, happy with this as it means I managed to stay within calories but still managed to enjoy myself.
8/07 80.6 kg (177.7 lbs) - another drop... Have to keep on keeping on! Planning to workout this afternoon but it is going to be SUPER hot so I don't know how motivated I will be. Have to remember to hydrate in any case!
8/08 80.5 kg (177.5ish lbs) - slow and steady! Gym was good yesterday, upper body workout, not too much cardio involved which was fine because it was SO humid and warm. Finally rained last night, I feel like I can breathe again.
8/09 80.5 kg -same as yesterday. Felt really bad yesterday morning, don't know why, probably heat and lack of sleep. Did stay within calories. Feeling a bit better today, so that's good.
8/10 81.1 kg - ugh. just, ugh. I guess this is to be expected bc I worked out hard yesterday and though I stayed within calories, working out gave me a lot more calories to play with so I ate a relatively large amount of food. But still, meh. Hope the combination of bloating and food baby goes away soon, but with the weekend coming up I am not so sure...
8/11 81.1 kg - felt lousy all day and didn't make the best choices - not the worst either, but def not the best - so I am just glad it's not worse.

8/13 81.3 kg. Well. This happens when you go away on the weekend for a nice hotel stay and then proceed to enjoy going out to eat and having the breakfast buffet and stuff. I know this is mostly bloating, and of my own doing. Let's see how much damage I can reverse before end of this round. Hitting goal seems unlikely though.

8/08- 63.2 kg, that makes it + 2 kg compared with one month ago and +5 kg compared with my target weight
8/09 - 63 kg. Pretty good day, kept it low carb on the diet and stop eating around 18:30. Done 1h of yoga that is kind of extreme sport for me. Same targets for today just changing yoga for a circuit class.
8/10 - 62.6 . Small progress but very happy the scale is going into the right direction. Have been good with food yesterday, kept it low carb as well, had my 2 liters of water and circuit class. Stop eating by 18:30 as well and despite my very calm evening with a book I resisted to the small voice in my head telling me that reading with a glass of red wine would be even more enjoyable. And this made me to sleep very well
8/11 - 61.9 uhuuuuu. Obviously low carb, plenty of water and stop eating at 18:00 is working well for me. Just need the strength to keep the direction, I know very well the recipe of losing weight. No sport yesterday , just a short walk but this was my rest day, so no surprise here.
8/12 - 61.5 discipline is the key. Low carb, sport and no food after 18:00.
8/13 - 61.7 auchhhh, not a very disciplined Sunday. done the sport and have a very good first half of the day but got lunch with a friend and indulged more carbs then necessary plus some wine. However back on track today and hope to have a better report for tomorrow.

08/06 183.0 A nice way to begin the round. I wasn't expecting a drop. I was tired and sedentary all day. I couldn't figure out why, until this morning. I never did take my meds yesterday. It seems to be a long weekend thing - I will have to be more mindful come labour day.
08/07 184.2 A good day yesterday. Took my boys to the movies and then a nice long walk. Dinner was late but calories were on target. I.m not worried about the uptick - it will work its way out.
08/08 184 A good day yesterday lots of walking - i did fall and land heavily on my knee and this morning it is stiff and sounds like Velcro ripping when i bend it. It's also pouring rain outside - so less walking today -that's OK more time for needlework - although the piece i.m working on is just as grey as the rain!
08/09 183.1 100 days on MFP and 17 lbs lost. The plan right now is to stay in weight loss mode for another 100 days and then re-assess. I may switch to maintenance for the winter.
08/10 182.2 My workout buddy is on vacation, so I am going to start the day with a long walk instead.
08/11 181.4 I don't expect that to hold. Yesterdays long walk never happened. Spent the day yesterday at the ER with my son. (they could not explain his abdominal pain) So very little to eat or drink all day. Came home and slept 12 hours so definitely dehydrated at weigh in this morning.
08/12 182.6 that was expected - yesterday was a very sedentary day, and sodium and sugar were both higher than usual. Back on track today. Fortunately DS is feeling a lot better today.

This round I am focused on following an anti-inflammatory diet to fight off whatever is making me hurt; losing weight might be a bonus with all the veggies, fruits, & fiber, plus walks and stretching/gentle yoga and swimming.
Goals:
Food ~~ 1430 calories max; P 15-25%, C 35-50%, F 25-35%; Dr. Andrew Weil's anti-inflammatory diet.
Exercise: 60 minutes/day of walking/swimming + yoga/stretch class 3X/week

So much for feeling better on the anti-inflammatory plan - today I'm hurting all over. But I'm sticking with it - I know it takes at least a few weeks for dietary changes to make a difference. I managed to work in my garden for a while yesterday, dead heading flowers & other smallish jobs. I'm going for a walk now, before it gets too hot. Walking does seem to help a little.

Eating mostly veggies with some fruit, fish, eggs, nuts. I slept a lot of yesterday, which did seem to help the pain a little. Today is rainy, so I guess I'll be walking indoors.

The good news is I'm losing weight on my anti-inflammatory diet. The bad news is I hurt all over. Got blood work back for array of auto-immune issues - all negative, thankfully, but something's going on. I keep pushing myself to walk, but mostly I don't feel like doing much. Whine.

Another lots-of-veggies not-very-hungry day with low calories. I'm off to see a rheumatologist this morning (and - more promising to me - an integrative medicine doctor next week) to try to get a handle on my pain, and afterward we're going to try a new-to-us vegan/vegetarian restaurant my hubby spotted. They have a very interesting menu and I plan to EAT. :-) I am happy about my downward weight trend, though, since cutting out bread and pasta and meat other than fish. Have a lovely weekend, all!

I never thought I'd say this, but I clearly need to eat more. I just haven't felt hungry beyond what I'm eating the past few days - lots of veggies, black beans, chick peas, fish, brown rice, fruit mostly. The up tick must be sodium from the very excellent vegan/vegetarian restaurant we tried yesterday, though the food didn't taste salty. Really delicious! I saw the rheumatologist yestetrday and he wants to put me on a short course of prednisone, and I'm extremely reluctant yet sorely tempted because of the pain I'm in. Appt. with integrative med doctor on Thursday, and I'm trying to suck it up until I see her. Maybe I can just take long walks (they loosen me up) and sleep until then? Pain sucks. I hope you're all feeling better than I am! (I'll stop whining soon.)

Well, my low calories explain my weight loss this round, but I need to eat a few more calories. I just haven't felt hungry after meals and snacks. I went for a lovely walk last evening along the river, which made my aches and pains feel a little better for a while, and otherwise had a lovely, laid-back Saturday. UU pitch-in today - I can't eat the goodies I'm taking, but someone will!

•8/6 - 186.2 - Early weigh in. - This morning, I reviewed my weigh ins from the last round. My weight was all over the place. 188.2, 187.8, 187, 186.8, 186.4, 185.6, 185.2. That is not usual for me. I'm expecting that my weigh ins this round will compensate for the weights I bypassed. Those lovely increments. Today's weight for example. We shall see. 9 more to go. 186 was my weight in early 2015. I was doing very well on the way to my goal of 150lbs, when I decided to try eating grains again. Bad, bad idea.

8/06 177.8// My goal for this challenge is to get down to the 174’s. My lowest weight last challenge was 175.4 and I know that I’m retaining a lot of water today. I have a lot planned for this week but I know that I can stay under calories and hydrate.
8/07 175.4// This just shows that the weight from yesterday was just water weight, this was my last weigh-in and I’m hoping to decrease this number. This week ended up being a little chaotic and I have plans to do some sort of work-out every day/evening.

I also missed my regular Pilates class last night to go to dinner; I just started this new position on Monday and my new coworkers wanted to take me to dinner, so I was obligated to say yes. 8/7 / 223.6 / That's better. As part of another challenge, I did cardio and jumping jacks and drank SO MUCH WATER yesterday. Note to self: Do not drink a lot of water and then do jumping jacks.
8/8 / 225.2 / That one is a bit of a surprise. Hmm. I am back to tight rings and retaining water. But I'm still eating well, still getting my butt moving. Jumping jacks, crunches, and water, along with something that will amuse people of around my age: I decided to dance yesterday as a workout so I learned how to do the Hustle! I was a line dance of ONE.

8/10 / 227 / Goodness gracious! Well, I am a broken record but... still eating well, still exercising. Crunches, a boxing workout, a krav maga workout, and more line dancing. Lots of water. I am a little sore across my shoulders, but in a good way. I'm in a great mental space and bouncing around the scale is something to talk about not something to panic about.

8/06 - 253.8...very surprised to still see this number, really thought I would have a gain. I had a horrible day yesterday, I don't think I drank any water and I ate my weight in sweets. I don't know why I did it, I was feeling so good about my drop and even had someone compliment me on my loss. I swear I'm trying to sabotage myself 🙁
8/07 - 253.8... had a good day yesterday! Stayed under calories, drank lots of water and did strength training and cardio at the gym

8/09 - 255.4...yesterday I stayed under calories and did a walk. Wasn't able to get to the gym because my little gym had a bad night (I go after he's asleep). I didn't get enough water either, I had planned to drink more at the gym lol.

8/11 - ? Forgot to weigh in I know it's not going to be good though. A friend I haven't seen in a year is spending the weekend and we've been eating everything! And I know there is no point of even trying to get back on track until after the weekend, I'll just disappoint myself.

8/11 - 182.3 - I'm really happy with this number! It's the lowest I've been since March. I haven't been tracking but I have been eating LCHF. I also went for a walk yesterday. It was a slow walk due to the heat, but I'm happy I got out there. I'm going to try to get out there again today before the rain starts.
8/12 - 185 - I felt bloated when I woke up so I knew today’s weight wasn’t going to be good. I ate low carb yesterday but not much water and too much dairy. No regrets, that buffalo chicken dip was amazing! I am going to up the water and lower the diary today and see if that helps.
8/13 - 184 - I figured out the instant weight gain from yesterday. As embarrassing as it is, I accidentally bought regular ginger ale instead of diet and I enjoyed waaaaay too much of it on Friday and Saturday. Because I'm doing LCHF, all that sugar made me pack on water weight. The challenge now is fighting that "well I already messed up" attitude and staying motivated to get back on track.

8/06- 227.2 Yikes. Didn’t get to check in the last two days and late weigh in yesterday giving me a round end of 225.6. I thought that was bad enough given I was logging 223s. Today the weekend continues to catch up with me. I know I didn’t gain 1.6lbs overnight but it’s a hard pill to swallow. It’s messing with my head so much I even considered sitting out this round. I’m here though. Hopefully the water retention will work itself or the next two days.

8/10 156.2 Prelogged yesterday and though I had a little variation I got my protein in (123g), will do the same today and stay the course. I still feel bloated for some reason. The initial *high* of losing some mass has worn off, and I find myself struggling to get back on my exercise routine after the camping last weekend. I keep putting it off one more day. But...my son convinced me to order a fitbit to encourage me to move more, and it arrived yesterday, so I'll get that going and see how it motivates. I'm a data geek so I am sure I'll be obsessing!
8/11 155.4 First day wearing my fitbit and just a normal day no exercise was 6000 steps. Not sure if this is good or bad, but good info for me, a baseline to improve on. I know 10K is considered a minimum so I better step it up! One thing I am not sure of is that it added 252 "exercise" calories to my budget. I ate them it appears, but not sure how this will impact my progress towards my weight loss goal if I do this again.

8/06 - 185.4- starting up a bit, had a lovely weekend away that involved adult beverages, little water, lots of sodium. a road trip with my love, a visit with my best friend and her family. Pure happiness!
8/07 - 184.8 - Still a little heavy on the sodium and carbs yesterday. Also no exercise at all.
8/08 - 184.6 - Made a poor choice on supper last night. Did go for a walk to try to get rid of calories, but it was slow and not quite 3kms.
8/09 - 184.0 - Had a fairly decent eating day yesterday and managed even amongst the smoke and heat to get a walk in.
8/10 - 184.6 - High carb meal last night because we went out so we could eat in air conditioning. I was not cooking in 38 degree heat.
8/11 - 184.2 - No exercise yesterday except for a short walk in the afternoon. Just too hot and smoky. Not a great eating day, I seemed to be hungry all day long. Did manage to only be over goal by 150 or so though.

I'm back...I was away for the last couple of rounds. My kitchen has been under renovation since the first week of July and I have been without a kitchen and in an upheaval since then. I have basically been eating at maintenance as I lived through the renovation. Considering all the stress and the difficulty in making meals, I am happy to say that I am basically at the same weight now as when I started the renovation. Even though the kitchen won't be completed until tomorrow, YAAAAA!!!, and we still have to get the kitchen organized, I am ready to get back at losing. (I thought I had posted yesterday, but I can't find my post.)
Goals:
1. Beat sister-in-law in weekly step competition
2. Do some form of intentional exercise 7 of 10 days (6/7)

08/06--222.8 Went to the in-laws this weekend, so there is definitely an uptick due to increased sodium from eating out. The positive is that my sister-in-law and I, we both have Garmin watches, are now in a weekly step competition with each other, so that will definitely be a motivation to get more steps in this week. I'm going out for a walk at lunch and then Zumba tonight. Making sure to get my water in today.
08/07--221.3 Got to use the fridge in the kitchen yesterday! Who knew these small things in life could be so exciting. Today is the last day of kitchen renovations and tonight I will be able to use the stove for the first time in 33 days. Went to Zumba last night and so far I am ahead of my sister-in-law in the steps competition. I will go out for a walk at lunch again today, but as tonight I will mainly be spending my time going food shopping and organizing the kitchen I'm not sure how many steps I will be getting in today.
08/08--220.6 Sister-in-law is currently about 100 steps ahead of me, so the competition is tight. Was hoping to organize the kitchen last night, but quickly realized what a daunting task that was and quickly lost motivation. I did organize the utensils, so I'll take that as an accomplishment and will do some more work this evening. Tonight is yoga and with the mini heat wave we are having in the PNW, not sure how much extra walking I will be able to get in tonight; however, I will go out for a walk at lunch when the weather isn't so bad.
08/09--220.0 Yoga was great last night. Sister-in-law is currently 5k steps ahead of me, ARGHHH!!! Today is the last day of the heat wave, so I plan to walk at lunch again and depending on how bad the weather is tonight I plan on going for a long walk tonight. Still working on organizing the kitchen, but considering how hot it will be inside the house this evening not sure how much organizing I will be doing.
08/10--220.4 Did not get a chance to walk during lunch, work got busy. Also, didn't walk in the evening as the heat was still bad. Sister-in-law is now 9K steps ahead of me with 3 days to go, she lives about 2 hours away and it is always a few degrees cooler where she lives. Luckily the heat wave has broken and I will be a walking machine over the next 3 days. I will walk at lunch and then take the dog out for a long walk this evening. Last night I unpacked 4 boxes of kitchen stuff, 1 more box to go, and placed most of the stuff on the kitchen counter while I tried to figure out where to put everything and what to throw out. I packed away about 1/2 of the stuff before I lost motivation, so my counters are still covered with kitchen stuff. I will finish the rest tonight and over the weekend. Last night I was so excited to find my kettle while I was packing things away. So, last night I had my first cup of tea in over 6 weeks. Then my husband unexpectedly decided to make us some lemon blueberry scones, he has been wanting to try out the new stove. Tea and homemade scones made a great evening.
08/11--219.3 Kitchen counters are still a mess, but living with the kitchen for the last couple of days has given me a better idea about where to place stuff. We are getting a very large wood cutting board delivered today, so I need to get the counters cleared off so we have somewhere to put it. I didn't get to go on a walk at lunch yesterday, work got busy again, but I went out on a long walk with the dog later in the evening. Even though it wasn't as hot yesterday as it had been over the last couple of days, it was still a little hot for my very furry dog, so I had to cut my walk a little short because I could tell she was struggling a bit. I am now only 6K steps behind my sister-in-law. Planning on a bike ride and long walk today. My sister-in-law texted me yesterday and thanked me for the step competition because it has gotten her to be more active...that made me extremely happy.
08/12--220.9 Went out for dinner last night, I can feel the salt. Did not go out for a bike ride yesterday, but I did go out for a long walk. However, I am still 10K steps behind my sister-in-law and I don't see how I will make it up. Over this past week of the step competition I've noticed that I've eaten better and I've slept better and it's forced me to get off my butt and exercise, so there have definitely been positives so far. Kitchen is 90% organized, so goal for today is to finish the rest of the organizing. I still need to buy some type of organizer for the under the sink cabinet. I bought a closet organizer for the front entry closet, it's a mess, so today my goal is to install and organize the entry closet too. Kettlebell class rounds out the rest of the day.
08/13--220.4 Sore from Kettlebell yesterday. Step competition ends tonight, I thought it ended last night, so my goal is to get more steps in. Finished organizing the kitchen. I started on organizing the hall closet and started to install the closet organizer, but need to finish the rest tonight and/or tomorrow. I will walk at lunch today and then Zumba tonight.

8/12-- 169 THE SABOTEUR HAS STRUCK AGAIN so last night my sister in law comes by with homemade sushi and chocolate (yes all home made) it was a little gift for me and my hubby because of our recent flooding. If she had purchased them from the store I would have turned them down but because it was all homemade I felt rude for saying no (well at least that's what I am rationalizing to myself) I wish it had stopped there. I have this terrible mentality that whispers to me "well you already messed up your day, so who cares about trying for the rest if it" so for dinner we went out for burgers and fries to top off my horrible day. I always do this! The minute a loss hits, I do something to sabotage it. I am grateful I stayed within the 60s though. But don't count me down and out just yet!!! I know I only have three days left but I am going to fight for those three days to undo this damage. I noticed a pattern of at least one day during the 10 day challenge where I go off the rails. I want to fix this!!! I'm tired of taking 5 days to loose three pounds and one day to gain it all back. It isn't fair to me and the effort I put in everyday. This slow trickle effect is killing me too. Everytime I have a little bit of a gain, my mind starts calculating the losses I don't experience everytime I undo my work. Between the gain from going off the rails and the days it takes to re loose, it's just so many days of wasted effort where I could have been decreasing my weight rather then fighting the maintenance. Anyway sorry for the rant. I am obviously feeling ashamed of myself. I don't even know if anyone reads these but I needed to write this journal log for more myself then anyone else. Lol
@abowersgirl I read everyone's posts. Any and all effort is not wasted. Sure the ups and downs are frustrating, it beats the heck out of all ups. Isn't that how we all got to our highest weight, not making the effort?
As for home made chocolate, should there be a next time maybe you can wrap it up tightly and place it in the back of the freezer. Too bad it wouldn't work for the sushi.4 -

8/12 - 182.8 Just to inform you: A large Butterfinger Blizzard at Dairy Queen has a whopping 906 Calories and 144 Net Carbs! And the pulled pork sandwich? 301 Calories and 47 Net Carbs ! Even without the top part of the bun the Carbs are at least 27! Why, Why Why? Hanging my head in shame here are YESTERDAY’S STATS: 170 Net Carbs “she says in fear”. 1576 Calories In / 2260 Calories out “she says in disgust”. 10,349 steps for the day, “thank God, she says. ” 4.38 total miles for the day “I should have taken a walk too” she says. 13/13 (250) steps hours “Score!” she says. I did take a grueling 15 minute (not mile) hike severely uphill which burned a whopping 52 calories. I also threw in a 20 minute aerobic dancing routine late night (out of pure terror) which burned an extra 135 calories. My before meal glucose (4.5 hours after Dairy Queen) was 150. Sunday’s are my heaviest physical work day so I will be getting in a ton of miles and steps today. I’m looking forward to it because I owe it to myself. I am human afterall, regardless of what my ex-husband says. ……
