Does This Uterus Make My Stomach Look Fat?

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE this thread!!! I’ve gained a few pounds the past few months, so I’m not willing to post a photo at the moment but I am working on losing the weight and seeing my abs again. Thank you to all of the ladies who are secure enough to post photos.8

What an amazing thread! I have a flatter tummy time of the month. It is for a few days after my period has ended. Right now I am about 1-2 days pre-period and it is when I am most bloated. I just took a few pics. I will try to remember in a week/week and a half to snap some of the flattest time of the month.
I am 44 years old. No babies. My BMI is around 21.7. I have been lifting weights for a few years and also do some light cardio.

Thank you everyone for the praise, I feel very humble and overawed right now.
For those women who are tempted, but shy, don't think they are 'there' yet, please consider posting.
The beauty of this thread is that it isn't about beauty, it is about real life women's stomachs, with or without a uterus. (Shar-pei, or 'scream').
We have all worked to get where we are today, and are working on where we want to be in the future, and everyone's pictures have value to help others see they are not alone.
Perfection is seldom obtained, and not required.
Much love and admiration to all,
Cheers, h.46 -
Ok I'll play! This thread is too awesome not to. Here's one for the ladies who haven't quite made it to the gym yet I've lost 40 pounds since last August through mostly diet alone. My all time high non-pregnant was about 205. High school weight was a healthy 135.
Age: 39 (no, really!)
BMI or Height/Weight/Bone Structure: 24.9, 5'4 - 145 pounds, medium frame

Primary form of exercise: Some days I walk...
Number of years doing aforementioned exercise: Yeah...
Squishy and relaxed posture:
Just squishy:
Yes, I have a muffin top in athletic shorts and stretch marks practically to my armpits.
Bellybutton? What bellybutton? (Disclaimer - I don't plank. No idea if I'm doing this right!)
I this thread. I clearly remember being a 21-yr-old brand new mom looking in the mirror and feeling absolutely ruined. Devastated. I had never seen a real post-partum belly and had no idea what to expect. The permanent changes to my body took years for me to accept. Now, I'm pretty happy. Room for improvement? You bet! And I'm not done yet. But if there's a young mom out there reading this thread who feels like she's the only one who got stretch marks up past her bellybutton or didn't snap right back into her old jeans, I'm happy to add to the chorus of 'You're not alone'72 -
Ok I'll post too. I'm not where I want to be but maybe one day.

I have low-rise pants that fit, but because of this "spilling out" problem, I never wear them because surely no one else has this weird donut at the tops of their pants. And sometimes I don't believe the pants I'm wearing fit because of this pooch that sometimes appears (granted, it comes no matter if the pants are falling off, so it just needs to take a hike, but that's a different story, still being written). I don't wear fitted shirts because I'm super self-conscious of the muffin. >.>
You're not alone. I'm close to the top end of a healthy BMI at present (a bit under 24) and I have the same problem. As long as I'm standing, I feel great! My pants fit comfortably and I feel that I look good. As soon as I sit down, the "rubber ring"/donut appears. I like to wear more fitted tops sometimes, now that I have a waist again, but then I feel bad about the spare tire round the middle. I seem to be holding onto most of the additional weight around my belly and hips these days, and I'm much more critical of my body now I'm smaller than I ever was when I was obese!7 -

I think the plank pictures should have their own thread... and by the looks of it, it should be on the fun and games section

I saw the words uterus and fat and I just had to respond!
Age: 44
Wt./Ht.: 134 pounds, 5'7"
BMI: 21.0
BF%: I have no idea.
Medical condition: I have a giant fibroid in my uterus about the size of a small cantaloupe. Makes running during certain times of the month a little less pleasant, since it's crushing my bladder...
Primary form of exercise: I like a little bit of everything, but especially running, hiking and mountain biking, with some strength training thrown in.
Number of years doing aforementioned exercise: forever.
I don't know where that stupid fibroid is hiding. I can see it (and feel it) bulging out a little when I'm lying on my back, but otherwise, it's not very noticeable. I've seen scans of it and it takes up all the space. My tail bone curves around it. Looks pretty cozy in there. All the organs are pushed up and out and all over the place. Gross. I hide it well, though, LOL. My midsection "probably" would come in tighter if I didn't have that large mass in there, but whatever. It's fine either way.
I've always REALLY liked the way that my body looks, and have no problem at all with the cute little swell of my abdomen. It's sad that some women today think that a normal, natural woman body is somehow wrong. I always thought that little tummy curve was just a woman thing. Totally normal, natural curving. No Instagram model's funky posing or photo-shopped pics are gonna change my mind on that. I'm very fit and my body does all the things I want it to do, so I consider myself to be perfect just as I am.

OMG I never take photos from that angle! This is the progress photo I took from the front (yay lighting and posing):
Oh, and on the topic of rolls when you’re sitting down...thats a functional byproduct of the flexibility of the body...you get compression of the belly tissue like this:
So that it’s possible for the body to stretch and do things like this:
Love this thread!

This just made my day.
@jenilla1 (I still adore your avatar) - you hide that fibroid very well! I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I love that you love your body and embrace your womanly shape.
@klrenn - your post was very insightful and inspiring. I love the celebration of what our bodies can do and why it's meant to look the way it does.11 -
@bioklutz - I also have certain times of the month I'm leaner and more times I'm bloated. I'd like to show that here as well. My leanest day seems to be like one day after my period starts for some reason. My lower belly bloats probably at least two weeks leading up.
@pinuplove and @vnb_208 - Great examples of how clothes can be used to help us feel more comfortable and that in pictures they can be used to hide what someone's body really looks like.
@Butterchop - thanks for representing the petites!
@icemom011 - thank you for including your total weight loss. Looking back I should have included that in the requested stats. I think it makes a big difference for people looking for examples to see the difference between someone who's lost a large amount of weight and someone who's never really been overweight.

Mine doesn’t move! Even when I flex. My PT told me the muscles under my navel are dormant. I can’t do a sit up because I can’t feel them to engage the muscle. All the other abdominals muscles are good though. So here it is in good posture (for me) and flexed. Ha.
This thread has helped me so much — thank you to every woman who participated. And thank you for reminding me that this a normal, feminine attribute.24 -
Just a note. To post a photo, if you use the image with the mountain to upload photos, rather than the piece of paper with the edge folded over... it will embed your photo in your post, and people won't have to click on the photo to open it and see it.

On the app it looks like this.

^^^ Ya know, I tried it that way on the app, and it timed out and gave me an error message... But I'm glad to know it was my phone, and I didn't do it wrong. I will have to try when I'm on WIFI and see if it works better.
Also
I would love to have this to be able to post in forums at any time when one of our fellow ladies isn't feeling so good about themselves.8 -
I was inspired to change my mind about posting pics. My hormones are all messed up and the lady time arrived today 2 weeks after my last period. So my stomach may be a bit distended.

I'll see your small cantaloupe fibroid and raise you a small soccer ball fibroid. Great job hiding yours!
I wonder how much mine weighs...7 -
I have been following this thread, because I think it's amazing to see everyone's honesty and being reminded what an actual human body looks like untouched and without strategic posing. I wasn't going to share, but it feels hypocritical to applaud you all without putting myself out there too. I struggle in this place between feeling too skinny (wanting to put of muscle mass) and being upset when I feel my stomach is puffy and bloated.

I dont have pics yet! and again not brave probably why I don't have pics. But you women have encouraged me and I feel like loving myself more today! I had a baby boy 6 months ago and I have lost 21 lbs. I still have a long way to go and my stomach has never been something I have admired, even long before I ever had weight issues. We need to see more normal tummies in society! But I guess it has to start with us first! I vow to look and even dare i say 'ADMIRE' my imperfect chubby tummy every day I wake up from here on out! I may have a long way to go but what I've got is more than good enough! Thank you to all the lovely women in here whom are brave and remind us all to love ourselves and each other that little bit more!16

Great post!! Good for selfconfidence. It took some time to overcome my shyness and post these pictures. My tummy isn't perfect, it will never ever be flat, but its mine..... And I love it the most when I lie flat on my back
The scar is re-done at age 15 because it was way too ugly (double the size). At the time they performed surgery, beauty didnt count, only saving my live did.
Now it's a part of me, of who I am

This thread is absolutely amazing. I needed to see/read all of this today. I'm nowhere near BMI normal range so there are no pictures to post but I have to say I'm more encouraged and motivated seeing all of your pictures.

I will try to remember to take a side profile for this thread. My stomach still has fat in it, and my skin is still very loose my baby is just 1 year old this month. But hey, it carried three small humans, has been cut into and sewn back up, it's a good stomach.
