What nobody tells you about losing weight

The very thought of a 4 cheese pizza or sauce made with heavy cream just doesn't appeal so I don't need to make room for it in my menu.
It still does to me.. but I can have 1 piece instead of 4.. or one cup of pasta instead of 3.

The longer you've been working on yourself (fat loss, muscle gain, both), the more patient you become. When I first started I would get so frustrated when the scale wasn't moving fast enough (or at all sometimes). Now, I'm very accepting of slow progress. My next goal is to get under 160 (currently at 166), may take two months, may take a year, but I'll get there. I also don't ever have "bad" days, just days that slow my eventual progress down a bit. I don't know if it's just me, but it's a really nice feeling how food no longer stresses me out.41

I tend to lose from the tips of my fingers and toes inward. I'm also a little tall for a lady so I end up with very lean arms, legs, face, neck, and chest, then a bit pudgy in the middle. It sucks, but nothing I can do about it.5 -
Actually it seems like the fat knows where you want to lose it the most, and it makes sure that's the last to go.61

How easy it is to forget how terrible you felt at higher weights. I'll have a sluggish day and think "what's the point" and not realize that despite the sluggish day I still rolled out of bed way easier than I would have before, but I only realize it when I really think about it.37

That you may need to replace your office chair. I guess I lost a bunch of cushion in my backside. My chair is now a literal pain in my @$$.14

that the leather jacket I bought last year is still too tight.
But now, it is too tight across my shoulders! stupid swimming!
(not stupid swimming at all really - was mega chuffed the other week when some said I was getting swimmer's build and shoulders! but meh, I like the jacket)
I hear ya - I really love vintage clothing, and I have a 60s dress which I love, which fits me beautifully in the waist but won't zip over my back muscles.2 -

I get this when I overeat and get too much sodium and have the scale spike. I feel like I have ballooned up and put the whole thing at risk. Then I step into my shorts and pull them up without unbuttoning them. And these are shorts I bought when I got barely below a BMI of 25. My last spike was from under 24 to slightly over.6 -
I had a HUGE belly when I decided it was time to lose the weight. Guess what was the first part of my body to lose? Yep, my belly. I started here at 187# and lost more than 50 when I called maintenance. Kept losing until I had lost 70ish. Still maintaining. You can do this!!!
Oh, yeah, I am almost 60.23 -
I have had to have my rings re sized 4 sizes smaller and now need them doing again as they still keep slipping off. Why can’t this be my backside!22

That it really hurts when they put in an IV for surgery. No extra fat or padding in the arm now!10

Very true, on the good side; the hospital beds get so much more roomy and the gowns cover a lot more.9 -

Not sure if this has been said on here before, but having a good and decent priced tailor is such a wonderful thing to have . I don't have one yet, the tailor my husband uses is VERY GOOD, but sooooo expensive I'm on a search for a good and reasonable priced tailor, because I have a few super CUTE size 14's that are either starting to swim on me or are just getting too big and starting to look "sloppy" on me. I REALLY like these jeans (a few pair) and another couple of pants and want to keep them! I could learn to sew myself--but ugh--I don't want to, I need a reasonable priced tailor! If you find a good tailor--it's just like a having a good mechanic--this is definitely what no one tells you about losing weight!7

Jewellery may become a problem.
All my pendants now hang ridiculously low; I badly need shorter chains. But it seems to be virtually impossible to find a 15” chain these days! Is a 12-12 1/2” throat really that unusual?
Similarly, bracelets - I recently bought one of those cheap elasticated beaded bracelets as a souvenir. In the old days I couldn’t wear them because they cut off the blood supply to my hand; now the dratted thing is far too loose. I can get three fingers under there before it even starts to stretch.
Is it me? Do all the normal weight people out there just go around with everything feeling loose and rattly? Is that how it’s meant to be?8 -

I've always had a skinny neck - but then I don't have much on the chest, so if my necklaces hang low, they don't seem indecent! One thing I do is purchase chains with links that are large enough that I can hook the clasp through one of the links if I want the chain to be shorter.1 -

The problem is more that anything with a 17” chain hangs right on the neckline of most of my current dresses, which is just annoying.
The large links thing is a good idea. I might have to take my favourite pendants shopping with me, though, because larger links might have trouble fitting through the bails.
Also, my diamond shoes are too tight5 -
How when I’m lying in a deep bath my belly skin would rise six inches up off of me and float on the top like buoys.
Also, how my loose skin would be simultaneously a public embarrassment but also a private source of wonder and fun.25 -

Aaaaah, the jewelry maker in me has itchy fingers to fix your necklaces. If only portals from one part of the world to the other existed! I hope you find shorter chains! What I would look for are normal chains but with larger links on one end meant for extending a necklace. But you're right, the links will have to go through the bails, though that shouldn't be too much of an issue unless they are super tiny.
I have similar issues. My neck is 11.5-12" and too long necklaces end up in the grand canyon formed by my cleavage. Have to go spelunking to get it out, lol. So I have to make sure that if they are long, they are LONG. None of this middle length bit.
