Didn't really achieve my goals yesterday. You know when you're so busy and you've got so much going on you can't even think about goals?
Well that's fair enough but it's going to get me nowhere. I want a set of foundation goals that I achieve daily but more importantly goals that become second nature, I don't want to have to think about them, I want them to be as mindless as me brushing my teeth in the morning.
So my base goals (to start with) are going to be water and accurate logging.6 -
Checking in from Monday
1. AM easy run: 12 laps, aim for <35 m. Feed cats. Flexibility routine. Shower. Morning meds. Tea! Log 1 item. PACK SHOES.
2. Review Week 8 plans and submit. Make coffee. Review week 5 essay. Write discussion post. Upload music.
3. Class 2-3: Challenge book.
4. Class 4 - Research.
5. Parent calls for no prior contact AND for students with INCs and/or other concerns. Review semester plan. What is my purpose for each unit? Sketch out semester block.
6. Update class websites. Write blog post.
7. Strength 4:30. Zumba 5:30. Muse workshop. Engchat at 7 PM on twitter. Put Plated recipe in database.
8. Prep Tue lunch. Chop celery. Meds. Floss, rinse, brush teeth. In bed by 8:45; devices off by 9:00; alarm set for 4:50. AM MEETING TUESDAY.

The sun was shining today for the first time in 5 days! What a difference it makes in my mood. It is cloudy again right now, but it's only supposed to last for a couple hours then be sunny again. The weather forecast is still not the best for this time of year. It's supposed to rain Thurs and Fri and then snow again on the weekend! I will get my walk in tonight and tomorrow night hopefully.
@jeschepp - I am finding the same thing regarding some weeks nothing filling me up. This seems to be one of those weeks. I think it might have to do with cycles but I also find if I have a couple high carb days I want them for days after. I also have figured something else out. Some days I have a craving for chips, they are my favourite treat. I will eat 600 calories of other things trying to find something to give me that pleasure that a 350 calorie bag of chips would have done if I had just gone and bought them. I do not keep them in the house, that was one trick I learned the last time I lost the weight. If I wanted them badly enough I had to walk to the store to get them. Usually I could talk myself out of it at that point.
@mytime6630 - I saw you mentioned that I was doing well on the Fruits and Veggies. Thank you for this challenge. I can't believe how little I eat and how hard it can be for me to get them in. One problem right now is I need groceries in the house. I slacked off buying last week knowing that I was going to be without a fridge for a few hours. I now need to wait for payday because I spent most of my grocery budget on new decorations for my newly painted bathroom. Oh well, we aren't starving just eating less healthy. I also wanted to mention to you about your sleeping problem. Both of my girls suffer terribly from insomnia, have since they were very young. My eldest daughter had someone lend her a weighted blanket to try for a night. She went to sleep right away and slept for 8 hours straight for the first time in years. She actually just made one for herself. It was her first adult size quilt. She bought the beads to put in it at a local store. She said it was about half the price of buying one in store. It would probably be even cheaper for someone that already has material and knows how to quilt. She bought way too much fabric. She is not happy with her stitching, but for a first attempt I think she did well.
@HEGoddard0928 - Did Matt get approved for a medical leave by the doctor? I hope so, that would help you out I imagine.
Bex953172 - I need to get my habits in better order too. I have gotten incredibly lazy. Winter is coming, if I don't get them in place now I'll fail all winter and I can't afford to do that.
Hubby brought home a new craft project last night for our craft sales. I think I have mentioned that he works in a park, he found a treasure trove of chestnuts. He brought home probably 50-60 of them. We are going to drill through them and stack three together to make snowmen. I think they will be cute once they are painted, I think I'll use a washer and bolt for their little hats. Once I get a couple done I'll post pics.
Keep your fingers crossed folks, I'm supposed to have my dryer delivered tonight! I will then be doing laundry! I have never been so excited to do that!6 -
After not checking in for the weekend, the posts are a bit overwhelming! I will be going back to catch up at some point. For now, my birthday weekend went well. The house is soggy from humidity, but not flooded. We lost power for a bit Sun evening, but not long. (I was shockingly impressed with how quickly our co-op got our power back on - it was off for less than an hour!).
I DID LOG EVERYTHING!!! for the whole weekend!
It was 2300-3000 calories each day, but I logged it! (I had birthday cake, birthday pizza, birthday ice cream, birthday thai food, birthday muffins. It was a weekend-long celebration!
School was cancelled Monday because of the storm, so I counted it as part of the weekend.
JFT - Tuesday- Log everything
- Have that total less than 1800 calories
- Post at the end of the day

I'm not going to try and catch up---
@PackerFanInGB were you supposed to have surgery?
@mytime6630 Is there a challenge for the month?
I haven't logged my food for a month or more. Started back today. I was at 152 July 1 and today weighed 153 so I haven't lost any. It's time to kick it back into gear.
Peace and Joy!
Just For Today:
Log my food
Work on Faith in Action Bible Study
Drink 6 cups water
Weight train and aerobics
Take every bite captive
Be intentionally grateful!

It's funny because "Just for today" is such a positive group and I love it!
But let me tell you guys the way I have abused our friend "just for today"
It started just after midnight with three pieces of that Italian papa johns pizza. And a piece or two of extra pizza crust. (Pizza crust is life, btw) after all, it's only JUST FOR TODAY. I'm here to enjoy myself.
go to bed...wake up 7 am...eat 3-4 more pieces of leftover pizza crust....I've really got to get it together.
Now its 12 pm...10 chicken nuggets, a large fry, and a minute made fruit punch later...I get to the house and eat cocoa krispies with chocolate milk and whipped cream...yes, you read that right...I tell myself "just for today I'll eat whatever. JUST FOR TODAY I'll eat like a fatty McFatterton."
Then a penut butter and jelly uncrustable and a nutrigrain bar....
It's Okay, if it was truly "just for today"
But It was also just for Saturday
And just for Sunday,
I did good monday...but then it was just for today.
Please Lord, don't let "just for today" turn into "just for tomorrow"
For those of you who dont know, I was 225 pounds just 4 years ago. I lost the weight by mid 2015 and have kept it off. But this past summer i have gained 30 pounds...and it seems like Ive lost control...just for today, just for last Saturday, just last month. Im going through something I dont know what it is. I hope I figure it out before this scale goes any more upward.
Thank you for listening😥 😢 😖

Oh man I know what you're talking about!
Just for today can swing both ways!
Maybe be honest with yourself, maybe you have lost control partially. Or maybe not even control, you've just lost your discipline!
What I didn't realise (as of a few weeks ago) is when you leave home you have to parent yourself. So atm I tell me kids "go tidy your room" stop winding up the dog" and "no you're not having sweets for breakfast" "no you can't have chocolate now but you can have an apple"
You have to do that, to yourself!!
And my kids they don't sit there grumpily eating an apple they're completely fine with it, they might moan a little at first but once they start chomping they're perfectly happy with it.
I mean I learnt that lesson from a YouTube video, that was posted here on MFP!! (Mel Robins TED talk if you're interested)
Wish my own parents taught me that one lol!
But I do understand, after all you've done amazingly well losing all your weight from 4 years ago and you should give yourself credit for that every day!! So you deserve a treat right? But thats all it can be, a treat. You have to keep the same healthy lifestyle choices for life to maintain your weight!
You say you've gained 30lbs back, what are you doing about those are you planning on losing them again? That's a pretty achievable goal! And for someone who's lost a lot more you can certainly do it if you wanted to!
I'm glad you posted how you felt! You're not alone lol! But you've recognised your issue and there's your first step in the right direction there!
Now it's just where you want to go next

@bcTRAI -- I am also struggling with getting on here and posting any goals. Sometimes life gets so exhausting, and so many things to do, and if I don't post in the evening, it just does not happen. But that is the reason for this thread --- it is to help us all to keep on track, and keep on trying. If it was easy, if we all had great days all the time, there would be no need for a thread like this. this is why I love it so much . I do find myself overwhelmed at times because it is such a active thread, and I feel bad that I can't read all the posts and respond to so many, but I think each of us can contribute in any way we can ... even just coming and posting our goals. So happy to see you back, and I hope tomorrow is a great day for you!.

Hi Sisters. I want to get to know each of you better. Would you mind answering this question for me?
*I'm my best me when_______?
I'm my best me when I am able to get a good nites sleep!! I have a lot of trouble sleeping ... many nites I am still awake at 3 or 4 am. I think this is normal as we get older (at least this is what my doctor tells us!), but I refuse to start sleeping pills. When I am tired, I tend to want to overeat, I don't accomplish nearly as much in the day, and this always frustrates me. But this is a great question... and something to really think about! .
@Snowflake1968 --- You are doing great on the sept challenge -- the 5+ veggies. I need to start doing that better. I know my numbers would be the same.... makes me realize just looking at yours that somedays it is hard to get in the servings of veggies. Well, we have half the month left, so I best start doing this challenge!
@maryrobinson40 -- I hope your daughter is doing OK? I think about all you have been through, and hope you are doing OK, and the storm did not cause too much damage.
@PackerFanInGB - hope you are feeling better after your surgery?
@Bex953172 -- whats this ... you've been ill? I hope you are feeling much better!
I know I can't possibly read and catch up with all thats happening ... I think I am like 12 pages back! But I am going to try and get on here more often ..... make that one of my goals!
@mytime6630 .. Hi baby... I can totally relate to the sleep pattern... I used to think that LIPTON, TETLEY, or LUZIANNE would be the only teas for me... Let me introduce you to my little friend.. CHAMOMILE TEA. I steep a tea bag 30 minutes before I get into bed, turn on baby lullaby music, drink it taking deep breaths between sips, put night mask over my eyes, and good night...
🌹💝I LOVE YOU SIS5 -

I Love You Sisters!!!
I'm Pleased at How We Share Our Stories.
Just For Today.. I laughed, Cried, Passed Out And Drooled, Didn't Care that I Couldn't Consume Enough Calories To Log, Asked Why countless times without opening my mouth. Thought about All the things that needed to get done, but the AC is on the fritz so I'm sweating just from trying to type my JFT... Lol…😂
I Am Content In Whatever State I'm in... That's in the Bible BTW...
I'm in North Carolina... What State Are You In?... Yes! I'm being a bit facecious(sp)
I CAN'T FIX YOUR OUCHIES, OOOWEE'S, OR CLOGGED DRAINS, nor your deep hurts, frustrations, mistakes, or pains...
I'd love to have the power to make wrong things right for you, but then the question comes, Would I be interfering in the things that have been a part of making you? ... the Sisters I Carry in my heart. Because The Bible says that all things worketh together for the good to them that love The Lord, who are the called according to HIS purpose. I can't even explain and I dare not try, the Why's of life. All I can do is be true to you and cover you in my prayers each night. GOOD NIGHT SWEETHEART,🎶 WELL IT'S TIME TO GOOO.
GOOD NIGHT SWEETHEART GOOD NIGHT☺2 -
The fast food cravings were strong with this one tonight! I literally had decided I was going to Arby's when I paused in my work parking lot. I was torn 50/50 between fast food and going home and cooking. I was frozen, and then my hand clicked the turn signal for home. I was honestly a bit shocked, because a few months ago I would have had ZERO self control. I am constantly amazed at how the momentum of healthy habits goes both ways. I came home and "treated" myself to my homemade eggs benedict, in a lighter version. I went over by 60 calories, but I am so OK with that. If I had swung through Arby's I would be way over, and not nearly as satisfied.
For today:
30 minutes exercise skipped due to late day
Track food and exercise ✅
5 good groups missed a few veggies...
Water challenge ✅
Gratitude: today I am thankful for momentum and the comfort that comes from hearing your story in others.
Sleep log: bed at 9:30, up at 6
Post here for accountability ✅
For tomorrow:
30 minutes exercise
Track food and exercise
5 good groups
Water challenge-80 oz.
Daily gratitude
Sleep log
Post here for accountability5 -

That reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:
Sacrifice is giving up something good for something better.
Your sacrifice this evening has led to no guilt, no bloated stomach, no extra pound to work off. It led to making it further along on your journey, satisfaction, a victorious feeling of winning, and an opportunity to encourage the rest of us by your actions. WAY TO GO!!!
Peace and joy!4 -
Today was my first day back on track after my very happy birthday weekend. I've been back to tracking for such a short time, that coming back to healthy habits was hard today, so I pulled out my trusty mantra, "Just don't think about it." Once I was done eating for the day, I wanted to keep going- to snack and splurge and treat- SO BAD. Decision fatigue is a big challenge for me. I can decide not to eat the chocolate once, but the 5th (or 50th) time I face the decision I cave and I eat. For me, I know the trick is to just don't think about it. I have to make the decision not to eat it once and WALK AWAY. If I can keep myself busy and not think about it until bed time, when I wake up in the morning the urge will be gone, and I know I'll feel so good about staying on track.
So that's what I did tonight.
JFT - Tuesday- I logged all my food.
- I ended the day at 1290 calories.
- I'm posting here and going to bed.
@Snowflake1968 HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!4 -

I am so glad you posted this .... because trust me ... you are not alone!! I could have written this myself.
I did great last year .. losing over 25 pounds. Last Halloween is what got me off track. And almost this entire year, I am struggling to get it back. Yes, I am fortunate that I have not regained what I had lost, but I have not lost anything either - I have just maintained. But I still have at least 20 pounds to lose. I do great for about 3-4 days. Then, like you said, "just for today" I eat junk stuff. Telling myself that once it is gone, then I will get back on track. That it is OK to finish up that box of ice cream, because then tomorrow there will not be any temptations left. Well. ... when it is gone, I have those cravings again ... and go and buy more .. whether it be candy corn, or Reeses Peanut Butter cups like I did today, ice cream, etc.
But .... I am not going to give up, and I hope you don't either.
You have done so great to lose weight .... you did it once, you know you can do it again. I read that success brings success. One good day will lead to another good day. I am so proud of you for what you have accomplished ... look at where you were, and all that you have accomplished since 2015. That is something to be very proud of!
You can do this. You (and I) can turn it around, and tell ourselves that tomorrow, " Just for Today", we will have those 5 servings of veggies. We will drink those 8+ cups of water. We will stop and think before we eat something. We will try and plan a day ahead what we will eat. We will go outside and take that short little 15 minute walk. We will not give up. And if we fail, we will try again the next day.
Your honestly is what has helped me tonite to also admit where I am. I know I am a compulsive, emotional eater. This is what makes it hard for so many of us. If I would only eat when I am hungry, and eat healthy food. But I eat when I am sad, when I am upset, when anything stresses me. And then, like you, I tell myself that it was just for today ... that tomorrow will be different.
Please come and post again. This is a thread where we all can say honestly what is going on in our lives. It is a place to vent. It is a place to be honest. And it is a place where we keep on trying ... and never give up. We are all here for each other.
It is a place for the most amazing support .... and the most amazing online friends. So please come back!

SO my goals for tomorrow
1. log my food -- I have not done this in like 2 weeks
2. get back on track!!!! (THanks Diet Coach @Bex!)!!!
3. concentrate on water ---
4. do all the challenges: Water, walking, mindful eating, nite time snacking, 5 veggies a day
5. read back at all the posts I have been missing out on by not getting on here!
So today we had to take our car in ... and since it would be a 2 hr wait, we drove 2 cars and went out to eat. I did great with that .... a huge salad. Well, the car was not finished yet, so we came home, and went back to get it. Hubby decides lets go and get pizza. I did OK with that also ... 2 pieces, but since I only had a salad for lunch, I felt I was OK.
Well, tonite my daughter comes out with a huge bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. The last I counted, I think I ate 6 of these things What is wrong with me!!! I did this last year .... its like all that Halloween candy at the store keeps hollering at me, and in this case, my daughter. But, at least the candy is all gone, and no more.
Tomorrow will be a busy day ... going to try and get the house cleaned before we leave on our short little weekend get away for Hubbys 50th High school reunion (Yes, you read that right ---- 50 years!!! So hard to believe it has been 50 years. And scarry that it will be 50 years for me next year!). (Told you I'm old .... but I don't feel old LOL!).
We are just hoping our daughter does OK while we are gone. The past 4 nites she comes out here and goes in the bedroom crying. She says she has been sadder since seeing her college friend a month ago. Mental illness is so very hard. ... my heart goes out to anyone that suffers from this. And as a mom, I am helpless, other than to be there for her.
SO JFT, Wed
1. LOG ALL FOOD
2. Mindful eating -- think before I eat
3. go for a 15 minute walk in the evening
4. go to the gym (have not been there in 2 days, and I find I miss it!)
5. mow the grass
6. clean house
7. get back on here ... be accountable!5 -

!
I have made a few weighted quilts .... but I get so hot, so for me that would not work. But thank you for that suggestion. My problem is that I don't let myself unwind enough I think. I ususally sew until hubby comes to bed, and then my body is exhausted, but my mind is still doing stuff. All week it has been that way. Its like I get in a cycle. I'm hoping tonite will be better .... I tried drinking less diet pepsi today also!3 -
Greetings, MFP friends, and folks who have joined since I've been away. Goodness! This is a happenin' place! I love it!
I
We have missed you!!! I figured you were a your goal weight, and had left us So happy to see you back.
Yes, the Sept challenge was to eat 5 veggies a day. I've not done so well this month with any of the challenges... so may have to repeat this one at some time! But .... we are so happy to see you back!4 -

So that's what I did tonight.
This is a great way to look at this ... just don't think about it. Make the decision not to eat it, and stick with it. I am going to try that tomorrow!4 -
