Tonight was an easy 3 miles. This weather needs to cool off. At least Wineglass will be significantly cooler than my runs here in Georgia!

What is so wrong with ketchup on a hot dog? That is how I eat them, unless it is a chili cheese dog!

There is nothing wrong with eating a hot dog with ketchup on it. It is the proper way actually.

This morning I got to run 6.72 miles. This was a long run not too many weeks ago, and now it’s just the first run of the week. Weird. I’m planning on a shorter run tomorrow, my schedule being off because of travel and appointments and things, but I think 4-7 miles is settling out as a comfortable length for me. A little on the long side time-wise, as an hour and a half (once you include warm-up) feels indulgent for a workout, but I’ve got the flexibility to be indulgent right now. And I think I can get faster with time.

I was aiming for a tempo run and managed negative splits pretty easy for the first four miles, but was thrown off by a hill around mile five and never really got my groove back. I was able to recover without ever needing to walk, though, which felt pretty good. My fastest mile was 9’53” and my slowest 11’16”, which I'm happy with for where I am right now.

After running I had a brunch-and-grocery-shopping visit with my mom (delayed because of travel this weekend) and then met my best friend from college’s 3-day-old baby. We get together with our spouses every 2-3 weeks to play board games and they said to come on over, so we did! We even got a round of Pandemic in before it was feeding time. It was a good day.

And now to catch up on the last 50 posts or so and then get some sleep.

Starting.... (again) need to keep my dang shins form slowing me down. My goal for this month is 20 miles.
So far I have 10.27 (9.73 to go). I want to get a base built up so I can get back in to doing the Holiday Streak. I had to take the last two years off... well okay, truth be told, 2016 I had to take off due to shin and foot pain... 2017... I was just flat out lazy.

Ha, I agree with you, I only put it on fries, although mayonnaise is also good on fries. Salsa on eggs. Salsa on cheap boxed macaroni, but good macaroni needs nothing. I like salsa on burgers sometimes. Usually no ketchup, just mustard and mayo and a tomato slice. Hotdogs get mustard, and sometimes cheese.

I think ketchup on macaroni is a Canadian thing, but I'm half German so maybe that's why I don't like it. Then again my dad eats it that way and the German comes from him...

Ooh, I love lefse. My Danish grandmother would make it all the time, but we would eat it with bacon and butter. Yummm. I wish I knew how to make it. It is tricky.

I am firmly in the ketchup camp. I also like relish, sauerkraut, and a little cheese if possible. I dislike mustard, but I am no hater. Y’all can use as much of it as you like.

Ok - I am with @elise4270 on this one - kraut and mustard on my hotdog... maybe if no kraut available I will load it up with some onions and mustard and a little bit of ketchup. Definitely ketchup with fries.
My DH on the other hand puts ketchup on everything. As far as he is concerned it is the ONLY condiment. I have pretty much gotten him out of putting it on eggs or hash browns. Who would ever ruin mac and cheese with ketchup - yuck! I do love salsa on just about anything and stopped eating mayo a long while ago... except maybe in tuna or egg salad but just enough to stick it all together.

ETA - I am picky about my mustards too. I have several different kinds depending on what we are having.

Ha, is it? I have never seen or tried this. My cousin put ketchup on his eggs, and I thought he was strange.

That is nice that it is easy for you to come for the BMO in May. I didn’t know (or forgot) your parents were here. That’s great!

@RunRachelleRun It's official we have 2 things in common.
Running and lefse. According to my mom Red Potatoes are better and they must be naturally cooled to room temp before you try to work with them. Of course mom always cooks it on a wood stove ( I mean directly on the stove body, no cast iron pan ) to give it that smoky taste. A bit of shredded cheese and a few secs in the microwave.
Not good for the calorie count but a great pre-race carbo load

Very enjoyable short 3km run this morning (yeah I know, it says lots of minutes and more distance but that was door to door and including a km walk on each end. Gadget claimed my fastest mile this month was in there, didn't really notice was too busy watching the world go by :-)
One of the things I like best about my runs round here is the stuff I see along the way.... pretty cloudy sunrise today, guy getting pulled along on a bicycle by three ladradors yesterday, the ducks on the river and the stupid pigeons I almost step on as they refuse to move from the footbridge over the river I run across, the complicit grin I shared with a guy I passed on a pedestrian street in the town we stayed in in Tenerife last week which was full of tables of tourists having dinner at 6pm while we were both running. All these things I would miss if I was on the couch. Or the dreadmill, come to that.

Okay. I need to change something. I am falling off track. Was supposed to run last night, but came home to one sick kid and another that needed help with her homework. I need to figure out a way to sneak in time to train cuz at this rate it's not going well.

Ooh, lucky you. That sounds heavenly. My grandma would make a lot at once and then freeze it. It was just as good after she reheated it. I ate it every time I visited her growing up, and for a few years, she lived a block away, which means I ate it a lot! I’ve never tried it with cheese, but I bet that was delicious. We always ate it on its own or with very crispy bacon.

Well I didn't die doing week 5 day 3 lol! It was so hard though, ugh.

I took my dog for a walk before I went out for my run last night and I took her up to the park in my neighborhood where there is a walking trail. There were a bunch of people set up in lawn chairs on the walking path during their kids football practice, so I keep her leash really short so she doesn't go up to these people and sniff them. She's a pit bull, and regardless of that I'm sure not everyone wants some random dog coming up to them, let alone a pit bull.

So anyway, then we come up on some lady with her dog. My dog, who is even more excited a this point.. walks in front of me and trips me and I fall down, then she runs off to go see this other dog and drags me across the trail with her! My legs and arms are all scratched up and bleeding. Like I'm sure everyone loves seeing some girl walking a big scary pit bull who's not even strong enough to control her, apparently. I was so mad, I started almost crying on my way home I was so embarassed LOL I was like I AM NEVER TAKING YOU ON A WALK EVER AGAIN. i'm sure I will, give me a couple days to get over it.

@RunRachelleRun I grew up in Surrey, though my parents (and brother) live out in the Valley now. It looks like general registration doesn't start until tomorrow so I will sign up tomorrow! I'm thinking I'll probably stay somewhere downtown the night before the race.

Heard back from racesonline, the timing company who handled West Fight On 5k. They thanked me, reviewed the video, and updated the results to remove 3 of the award winners in my AG, including the Masters Female and 2nd place female overall (walked the mile course) and AG winner (bib mule was a man) and one of the AG placers (also a walker.) When I wrote, I reported the bib mule, and suggested that they review the other AG finishers, so they noticed the walkers on their own,

That means the nice lady I took a walk behind after the race is now the Masters winner, a lady who was previously an AG placer is now Grandmasters winner, and three people who were previously not on the podium at all are now 1, 2, and 3 in the AG. I assume they contact them? And I am now 7 instead of 10 in AG.

I would never have noticed if I hadn't been curious what the fast ladies in my race looked like! It was a real shock to find three out of the top 5 in one AG shouldn't have been there.

It's still my hope that these were instances of not thinking instead of deliberate cheating. But I dunno - I was thinking about this and suddenly put two and two together. Remember how I mentioned the announcer at the start called out someone for walking in the front of the pack with a dog? I was too far back at the start to see who the announcer was talking about, but I only see one dog in the finish video - the dog belonging to the walking woman who won the Masters Award. And dogs are specifically not allowed in the race rules. So we know that woman is inconsiderate and thinks rules don't apply to her.
