Anyway, I ended up stopping at 2.02 miles and then vomiting and sleeping the rest of the day. I should have known better than to try to run while sick.
Today, I planned for 13.4 miles on dirt trails. However, since yesterday sucked, I decided it better to get my long run in than the shorter run on trails. It was still cold and raining, but I felt so much better (still not 100%, but much better). So I got 19.17 miles today on paved biking/running/walking trails. That still puts me behind for the week.
And since I missed a few miles earlier this month, I am also behind goal for Sept. with only 184.88 miles of my 200 mile goal. I guess I'll have to make 200 miles my goal again for Oct.
Dude, you're hard core. After a day bedridden, I would have taken another day off.4 -
@MobyCarp Excellent race! I guess that shorter time on the BQ is not a threat to you!
@mbaker566 What a beautiful idea for a race. Lovely medal and congrats on the PR.
@MegaMooseEsq I have the same water belt but I wear mine backwards and low on my hips - so used to having extra weight in front that it's more comfortable there for me. Glad you figured out a configuration that works for you! I also bought the insulated bottle which fits it, summer is almost over but it may be something to consider if you have issues with your water freezing in the winter.2 -
I added a few more group leaders, @garygse, @sarahthes, @mobycarp, and @katharmonic . Seemed time to update the "leadership", as it was getting a bit thin. Not sure what that get's you... *tag. Someone "new" gets NOVEMBER MRC! haha! Unless our master returns before then... Miss ya Stan.
I'm feeling left out! LOL
What group is this?
I should probably add some other admins to help me on the Facebook group, but it's pretty cruisy.
@MobyCarp Bravo on your awesome marathon!
I'm waiting hopefully to hear from @marisap20103 -

9/30 Wineglass Marathon
I finished my first marathon!!!
As @MobyCarp already reported, the weather forecast all week said no rain...and then it rained almost the whole time. I also think the temperature dropped some while I was out there. Not a great way to start.
Hubby drove me from my in-laws house to Bath around 7, and I hung out in a heated garage until a few minutes before the race. I lined up behind the 5 hour pacer. My plan was to finish since this was my first marathon, but in my head I wanted to finish around the 5 hour mark. That felt about right to me since the halfs I have done were all between 2:20-2:30.
Five family members came out to watch me, and they popped up 5 times on the course, which was nice. I never did hit “the wall.” Mentally, I felt awesome, and at no point did I doubt myself. My big problem was a blister that bothered me between miles 6-13, and my hips feeling a bit tight around mile 21. I did stop a couple of times to quickly use the porta potties on the route, so that added a couple of minutes, but it was better than being miserable.
I crossed the finish in 5:10:32. I stood in line for the stretching but suddenly felt dizzy and left to sit down with my family. A few minutes later, the finish line planner/coordinator came to me and said she heard I wasn’t feeling well (I guess someone told her I had left the line) and she sat with me and hubby until my in-laws came with the car. I ate a few cookies and drank some milk and felt a lot better.
Hubby took me out to dinner last night, and today we head up to the Adirondacks until Friday. I am hoping my feet will stop hurting enough so I can enjoy a little bit of hiking.
Congratulations to @MobyCarp on your awesome time!!! Maybe one day I will be speedy like you!19 -
Awesome job @marisap2010 ! You did it! You were strong and ran a MARATHON! Congratulations. I'm so happy for you.2

That is a good idea - I'll have to look into it! I've read that carrying your water under your coat helps too - thankfully the running coat I bought last year is a little loose so should have enough slack to manage. Fingers crossed I've got at least a month or two before I need to worry about that too much.2 -
Thanks all for the kind words on Hobbes the Vizsla. We are waiting on his surgery date and then should have more information on the prognosis.
@marisap2010 and @MobyCarp - Congratulations on your Wineglass finishes!! Excellent race reports from both of you!!
@marisap2010 - you are now a Marathoner!!! Yay!
@mobycarp - another excellent AG group place! So glad you were able to overcome the bit of the wall you found and that you found a port-a-pot!
@mbaker566 - what a wonderful idea for a race! Congratulations!! Love the pictures! You look great and speed demon always looks so happy!
@MegaMooseEsq - the wig looks great!2 -

@marisap2010 - Way to tough it out! Sometimes the slower runners have a harder race because they're still on the course when the faster runners are stretching, eating, and sheltered from the weather. It's a bigger deal in heat than rain, but it's still very real with the rain. My "mostly overcast and a little rain" race became your "mostly rainy" race."
It can also go the other way; at Oak Tree Half, I passed an early start runner at about mile 11. He had an hour of cooler weather and more shade before I started.4 -
Way to go @marisap2010 !0

Finished with my first ever half yesterday. Not an official race, just down lake Michigan and back. It had been a goal of mine this year and it feels great to get it done.
13.1 on the 30th gives me 82.4 of 80.15 -

2.5km done last night - on a dreadmill looking at an incredibly boring grey wall in the gym, after spinning. New trainers and new socks... Trainers were worn on Monday with no problems, socks too big so kept moving in my shoe so I've got a few rubs this morning, not blisters but nearly! You'd think a thing like socks would be a simple matter! also having issues with underwear... Like are all my clothes just out to get me?!
Have set a target of 1st December to do my first 5km park run!
I think a lot of runners go commando... I can’t bring myself to join the club. I found a pair of tech underwear on Fabletics website. They work well for my long runs.

Life has gotten in the way and I haven't been able to keep up with all of the posts or run like I had planned. So, Sept was another fail on meeting my goal, but today is another day and I'll do all that I can in Oct. You all are an inspiration to me.
@marisap2010 Woo Hoo! Congratulations on your first marathon completion!
@ KWKirkbride Congratulations on your first Half! You guys are awesome!

No way, September can't be over already!! ... Oh well, I guess it really is? I need to run more in October than in September. I only came up with a little more than 120km.
On the bright side, I'm quite happy that I managed to stick to my strength training goals.
But my long in September were all rather short, only around 12~13km. I was fed up with getting up early to beat the heat, because that shouldn't be necessary in September! But it would have been, so due to starting way to late, always had to draw the line after 90 minutes, because it was way too hot in the sun.
At least that should be better in October - we had a huge drop in temperatures, looks like autumn is finally here. So off into a better, colder running month it is now!3 -
Sadly I fell short of my 20 miles goal for Sept. with only 17.72. But that's okay, because Sept was better than Aug, and I know Oct will be better than Sept6

Improvement tho @ 86.6 in Sept.
