What I Hate About Watching My Weight/New Lifestyle/Dieting, etc. (A Place to Vent)

First off, if you are going to post that you have no hate towards anything in the title, have embraced it all with acceptance, yada yada, this is not the place for that. (Please start your own thread.)
This is where we get to let off some steam about the things that secretly make us roll our eyes, curse under our breath, think evil thoughts about...well, you get the picture.
I will start:
All of the fast food commercials I am subjected to if I want to watch television programming. Now, these aren't foods I would normally choose if I wasn't watching my calorie intake, but for some reason (because advertisers know what buttons to push) I start wanting them. It gets ridiculous when these commercials are crammed between shows about obesity, weight loss, etc.
Then there are the smells, those fatty, salty/sweet smells that waft through the air in any Walmart, Target, grocery store or in some parts of some cities, in the general area.
What's your beef?

I get you. I don't have a TV and I stay away from grocery stores if it's not shopping day.
But I live next to a chocolate factory. I'm not even kidding.110 -

The only beef I have is having to do all this stuff at all and being naturally fat and that way from the time I was a young child.49 -

Sure you can, stop using social media. Your life will improve in many ways and you don't have to worry about those ads!50

Hate to burst your bubble but MFP is social media, and the free version has ads.55 -
What is "naturally fat"?46

What I really hate about watching my weight is social gatherings and the stress that comes along with knowing I will be surrounded by temptation. I've lost 42 pounds in eight months... I'm making progress and learning to manage my anxiety.56

Can I be your Charlie? LOL
As far as advertising... Well, they do know what hits our spots. They spend millions/billions of $ researching it.14 -
I just hate that it’s never ending. I really enjoy working out, I’ve got that part down. I do NOT enjoy paying constant attention to what I eat in order to maintain my weight. It’s like I can never truly relax, constant vigilance.94

Sick of looking at numbers.
Can’t wait to hit maintenance so I won’t have to be so strict.

I live within close proximity to a McDonald's, Subway and Wendy's and I can smell fried deliciousness and burgers constantly. It causes terrible cravings for all the wrong things. Luckily, I've learned to control those cravings.
Also, I have kids and their snacks and goodies are constantly in my face. I love to bake, but have to control portion sizes.
I seriously miss being able to do a line (of cookies lol) and chug my milk without a second thought.
I just want to mention, I don't think anyone is naturally fat unless they have a health issue that caused it. We are fat because of bad eating habits that started forming when we were young. We are now learning to break those habits and eat like people who can maintain a healthy body weight.57 -

Spoiler alert, maintenance is almost just as hard, lol.

Thanksgiving is coming up 😣

That my health got much worse with weight loss. That my GP blames my health problems on my weight loss. Got constantly told I needed to lose weight for almost 40 years and now that I have, my health has tanked. Bonus: no help but what I provide for myself which means a lot of overeating (not quite binge eating though) and gaining the weight back.36

This is so true! I've started allowing myself to indulge at gatherings but in much smaller portions than usual. I also chug water to fill myself up. An extra workout that day also helps and banking calories in anticipation. It's hard but the results are worth it. Good luck with everything!12 -

I think in many ways it's harder. You think you can relax but you really can't and you don't get any regular motivation of seeing progress on the scale. That's my gripe with this whole thing. Having to be vigilant and mindful day in and day out.37 -
I fall into the "moderation" catagory: basically I just reduce portion sizes without eliminating or abstaining from any foods.
That's means, yes I eat carbs, processed foods, fast food, refined sugar and anything else I want. The only restriction I have it to keep a calorie deficit. It's infuriating how many times I'm told that I can't have carbs, fast food, desserts, or everything else I eat to lose weight, that's what I hate the most... It's been 3 years and I'm down a little over 190lbs, I think I'm gonna stick to my method as it's obviously working long term. (Very much a rant).85
