11/04- Completed my first week of 10,000 plus steps.
11/05- Healthy eating, all meals planned. Walking steps 10,000 plus.
11/06- 10,250 steps in- I have pushed really hard, starting to run a little on the treadmill. Eating healthy! I remember in the month of April I could not bend down at all , could not take the bottom dishes out of the dishwasher. Due to brain tumour surgery.
11/07- 10,700 steps today, eating healthy, lots of vegetables.
11/08- Still getting my walking in hitting over 10,000, planned meals
11/09- Walking steps 12,500- just have to watch the bread had to much today.
11/10- went for MRI test today on my brain, that is the 4th MRI since The end of March waiting until the 19th to hear results. Steps 11,000 +.
11/11-went for a nice walk today, steps 10,200. Planned meals for next week.

11/4 – 58.2kg Worked out for an hour in the gym yesterday morning and even today morning.
11/5 - 58.5kg (+0.3kg) Was very much expecting this to happen…ate a lot of junk food yesterday way lot more than my calorie limit…this is what happens to me every Sunday! I hate it but can’t help it…went to gym in the morning today and will be very particular about what I eat today.
11/6 - 57.8kg (-0.7kg) Wow!!! I was expecting it to go down but not to this extent!!! I am so excited about this…I was really very careful about what I ate and stayed within calorie limit and spent some extra time in the gym…should not let go of all this hard work by just binging on junk…
11/7 - 57.9kg (+0.1kg) Food and exercise everything was good yesterday…but today I might eat a lot, have parties to attend that means lot of food…cheat day today!!
11/8 - 58.1kg (+0.2kg) For all the food that I ate yesterday 200grams gain is not a lot. Now that I have had enough food yesterday, today is going to be a clean food day!
11/9 - 58.2kg (+0.1kg) I couldn’t stop myself from eating all the oily yet yummy food prepared by my roommates for dinner yesterday, will have to spend some extra time in the gym today…very disappointed with my eating habits in this round and really scared about the weekend binge!
11/10 - 57.7kg (-0.5kg) the effect of eating one banana for breakfast and 2 oranges for lunch and chicken nuggets with fries for dinner! And also lifting weights in the gym!
11/11 - 57.8kg (+0.1kg) I really started to enjoy lifting weights in the gym and I can also see the positive effects of it! Glad I started this.

TO ALL OTHERS: Chicken Update: We finally managed to catch Ruby the Chicken today. We found a video on youtube showing a farmer catching a chicken using a coat hanger. He opened it all the way up, made a very tiny bend in the bottom and SNATCHED up the chicken on it's legs where it hung upside down (feet couldn't slip through the bend.} In a matter of seconds during feeding her, we tried it and it worked. My son's friend did it for me. He then took her out of the coat hanger and held her upright in his arms where she stayed calm and still, not even a tiny bit of panic. We drove her over to the farm and she was immediately put into the coop. They have a beautiful and very large coop so I was very pleased. A Bittersweet moment for me since I grew attached, but so happy for her that she has a safe and warm home. I will probably not sleep well tonight as I mourn for myself, but I know she is so much better off. I wish my Ruby the very best.....7 -
@deepwoodslady You did the right thing. Ruby will be safe this winter. Maybe the farmer would let you visit on occasion?4

11/4 168.5 Got in 18000 steps yesterday and an extra 500 calorie deficit. This number is more like it.... I knew ending high last round would make this one easier!
11/5 167.5 18000 steps again.
11/6 168 Lots of steps, zumba & body weight exercises. Big deficit yesterday!
11/7 166 Walked, voted and then walked with friends. 17000 steps. So happy to see this number. I hope it sticks instead of bouncing up again!
11/8 165.5 So cool to have it move lower instead of the immediate bounce up! Was all ready to go out and walk this morning despite the threat of rain. And when it started raining as I drove my son to school I figured that was ok. But then when it started pouring and lightening, I decided maybe I should wait. I'm dressed and ready to go! 11/11 167.5 -- Went to football party yesterday. Stuck to the low carb options of cheese, olives, veggies, chili and a few walnuts....except for the graham cracker toffee, which I had several pieces of. Convinced I did not actually eat 7000 calories of toffee over maintenance. In fact, I was only a little over my calories, so I am hoping that this number will go back down! I did go for a walk and managed to get 12,000 steps. Was having bad cravings and bad mood--which I'm assuming was hormonal. I was glad I took the power walk, because I felt much better afterwards, and more in control when I went to the party. (I was not as good with water yesterday or today either).

11/04 190.7 I walked a little over 2.5 miles yesterday. The weather was perfect for a walk but I was with girlfriend that wore the wrong shoes and couldn't really go any further. Love her and I am glad she's walking with me (she really needs to exercise and this is all she does is walk with me) but it did make me mad.
11/05 190.7 I got a late - slow walk in too late in the day. Forgetting about the time change, once again finished my walk in the dark. I have GOT to be more mindful of my surroundings. A couple of deer ran across the trail not 10 feet in front of me; scared the crap out of me. My nieces birthday celebration. She asked for chicken tortilla soup. Easily on the calories (I don't add the tortilla until the end so everyone can control their own) just a bunch of veggies, chicken breast, and seasonings. I might have had a loss if I had stayed to just one 2X2 gooey delicious brownie she wanted instead of cake.
11/06 190.4 Slight drop. Didn't exercise yesterday and normally I would go to the gym tonight, but I am traveling out of town for work and my BF is coming with me!!! I know he'll want to go to dinner etc. As long as I can stay in within my calorie goal I'll be fine. I will have no access to a scale until Friday morning.
11/07 No Scale I did end up going to the gym last night. I did a little more than an hour on the weight machines and drove 3.5 hours from KC to StL. I stayed within calories and sodium, which is all I can do these days. Tonight I should walk, we'll see what happens. Having the BF here is both good and bad. It's good because I get to spend time with him, it's bad because I don't want to work.
11/08 No Scale I did not do as well yesterday. I went over on calories, over on sodium, and did no exercise. That being said, I don't feel too bad physically or mentally. While I went over on calories they weren't "dirty", there was just too much of good stuff. I'm sure I'll be kicking myself when I finally get on a scale tomorrow but right now I'm ok. I just need to not do this again for awhile. Balance right?
11/09 188.7 Always good to see the scale go down. I suspect it will be back up slightly tomorrow but we'll see. Too cold and snowy to walk outside today. I'll be at the gym to get my 3 miles in tonight. I did walk a little yesterday but it was cold and snowing. I did find a couple of friends along the way, see below. The walk was actually very pleasant with the snow and the farm animals. There were cows on the other side of me, looking at me like I was crazy.
11/10 188.7 Walked at the gym Friday night. Decided to do the "Cardio" instead of just getting in my 3 miles. It was harder but the distance was short. I was under calories and stuff so All good.
11/11 189.6 I went a little crazy last night. I know that why I'm up today. I have my fingers crossed I will get back to 188 in the next two days. I'm posting late today because it's Sunday and we had a birthday party for the baby. I walked 4 miles today. I'm at 17.5 for the month so far. I am on track to do 45 for November. I spent a couple of hours cleaning house before folks got here today. I'm taking this week off and might do a little traveling. It will just mean I have more interesting places to walk .

I derailed myself last year undoing a lot of good work. After a long absence from myfitnesspal I am back on track. This 10 day challenge seems like something I can do. I joined with Round 57. This is my 2nd consecutive round.

Day 01. 11/04 295 lbs
Day 02. 11/05 297 lbs (up 2 lbs). I had a customer computer emergency day. An electrician was out at a store and managed to short the power to the local Linux server. Which would then not reboot. I would up pulling an all-nighter to recover the server and replace it with an old machine while a new unit is configured, licensed and installed later this week. No sleep 'til Hammersmith (4 hours after I got home at 8:45am but I feel like I had none). Way too much caffeine. Some less than stellar eating options. Draw a line and start again, recognizing that my goal of down 4 lbs this challenge might now be our of reach.
Day 03. 11/06 296 lbs. Back on track today.
Day 04. 11/07 296 lbs. No change. But on a plus, my blood pressure is down a couple of points. And my measurements have shrunk a bit overall. Yay! So maybe that means a weight loss tomorrow? (One must think positively).
Day 05. 11/08 295.5 lbs. A small loss but I'll take it.
Day 06. 11/09 offline due to the Woolsey fire (no internet).
Day 07. 11/10 offline due to the Woolsey fire (no internet).
Day 08. 11/11 298 lbs. Ventura/LA fire driven stress-eating weight gain. We are not in any immediate danger in Simi Valley. The Woolsey fire having gone west and southwest, and now also working its way east. Thursday night it had burned up the hillside to the south of SV. And sat there burning itself out becoming a natural firebreak. Fortunately no heavy winds in SV this weekend so that fire almost in my backyard is done. Hopefully it won't be coming back in our direction from the east. And that means I can get back on with my diet plans.
Up 3 lb so far this 10 day challenge. Dammit...

11/04 - 71kg kg No plan the last few days, so this isn't suprising. Actually, reading back, I overindulged most days in the last round.
I have no real plan for this round as I'll be traveling and settling in. I will buy food&body scales, find a gym, running routes and a routine for lunches etc in this round. It is frustrating that just 10 days have undone the last few weeks, but I will not let that discourage me.
11/05 - 71kg Finished my 5-10k programme - about 1.5 months later than originally planned, but it's done now. Will start a new programme this week, once I determined when and where I can run.
No logging today or tomorrow due to travel.

11/11 - kg No scales - Alright, so i've now caught up on the whole week. I've not logged or weighed myself since Monday. My first days in my new home and job have been great. But food, exercise and logging are challenging. Things are labelled in KJ, there is a lot of non-labelled food, many things are quite unhealthy with hydrogenated fat and added sugars. I have neither a food or body scale yet or a full body mirror, but will hopefully get at least the body scales next week.
I will start logging again tomorrow, there will be a lot of estimations until I have a food scale, but even if the calories aren't correct, logging will stop me from snacking so much. Drinking enough water isn't an issue as I'm constantly thirsty - i've already finished a 10l canister at home.
I have devised an exercise plan I can do at home, but have yet to buy a yoga mat for floor exercise I'd like to add. I tried to run on Fri and had to stop after 1km as it was too hot and breathing was hard due to heat (around 30C and no breeze) and altitude, i went from pretty much sea level to 1300m/4250ft. I also fought a cold until Fri, mainly from the flight, so I will try again this week in the morning. I plan to get into a routine with early morning exercise and running from next week.
I don't move nearly as much as in London and get stared at for walking to the office. It is hard not to keep myself busy with snacking, so i'm quite worried about gaining and feel like i already have. It's dark by 7pm so everything happens before then and the evenings are spent at home. Obviously, this will change once I meet more people to hang out with, find a gym and start driving.
Today i'm not doing anything, already walked to the shops to buy water and something to cook, had some pasta for an early lunch and will have left overs for dinner. I went out last night with a work colleague and met loads of nice people, but it became quite boozy, so also no exercise today. Would love to go for a walk, but it's so dusty and hot, no breeze or shade, so i'll give that a miss.
11/12 - kg No scales Did my exercise routine this morning, logged breakfast, lunch and a few snacks/fruit. Le'ts see if this will get me through the day. Quite bit of guess work, but hopefully I overestimated. Not sure what dinner will be, depends on if I'll have a car - the fleet manager wants me to go for a drive with him to assess my driving skills

11/05 - 77.3kg, finally dropping down to where I was before Friday!! I have set myself a goal for the week to meet my step goal every day (I slack off on my days off). I’m going from Sunday-Sunday, met my goal yesterday and very close for today with still many hours of the day left
11/06 - 77.4kg, met my step goal for yesterday! Ate well, drank plenty of water!
11/07 - 77.3kg, ate well yesterday but didn’t meet my step goal :’( I was in a really bad mood when I got home from work and didn’t want to do anything. On a positive note I didn’t binge like I wanted to, or would have previously. On track to meet my goal today!
11/08 - 77.0kg, slow and steady...
11/09 - 76.8kg, I can’t complain, the scales are going down! Not meeting my step goal every day like I wanted to, but it’s okay. It’s Friday and I am NOT going to go over my calories like I always do!!!!
11/10 - 76.8kg, happy to say I didn’t go over my calories yesterday, breaking the Friday pattern!
11/11 - 76.9kg, seem to be stagnating a little, despite eating under my goal every day. I’ve noticed I’m not eating nearly enough fibre at all, so I’ve made sure to worry about that today.
11/12 - 76.6kg, finally! The bran has helped I was holding onto a lot of waste I think.

And I am planning a big “freestyle” for today (a kind of intervals – walking + running) although the weather is not great. But it is only a matter of right clothes! LOOK FOLL! 05/11 Had a relatively active weekend, not so many steps but plenty of strength training and rowing, calorie intake was under maintenance. Goals for today get out for a run this evening unless the weather is really bad, if it is really bad use the eliptical at home instead and stick to my calories [/b]
06/11 Got out for my run, calories were exactly spot on (never happens) so goals smashed yesterday. Goal today is to stick to calories again and get a lower body weights session in.
07/11 Left a little room in my calories for attending a work dinner this evening as it's normally 3 courses & wine and got my lower body weights in. Goal for today is to enjoy rest day.
08/11 Overestimated my calories severely for yesterday's dinner so looks far worse than it was but still has me at around a 300 cal deficit over the week if I keep at my calorie allowance the rest of the week. Today's goal is to get upper body weight in - although this will depend on how my shoulder feels later as slept funny on it, if it's not great I will just do it tomorrow after work instead and also calories to be on target today.
09/11 Ate to about Maintenance yesterday instead of my deficit, logged all and will just keep plodding. Didn't get around to getting my weights in either as was stuck at work longer than expected and hair appointment was earlier than planned. Today's goal is to try and incorporate the upper body session and stick to calories.
12/11 Weekend update: Was very busy over the weekend, didn't gt a chance to get my upper body weights in on Friday but went rowing Saturday morning, back into a normal routine at work this week so should be a bit easier to get my exercise in. Had the hangover from hell yesterday so didn't log anything but would approximate that I was around maintenance seeing as only had some toast, a pizza and some chocolate.

I fell off the wagon with Halloween Candy, but I am putting it firmly behind me. Unfortunately, I haven't quite managed to get a firm seat on that wagon yet, but am hanging on by my fingernails.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

11/4–146.2 I was away for the last 4 days and feel pretty good about not gaining more than .4 considering what all I was up against. I’ll take this as the beginning number of this new round!
11/5—146.2 Should not have bought that peanut butter yesterday 8-) I had plenty of activity yesterday (in fact, I’m really sore), but snacked late on low fat peanut butter. Note to self: not a good idea.
11/6—totally forgot to weigh until too late
11/7—148.5 Well, so I ate like a demon yesterday, so this is no surprise. Hopefully, I can get my act together today and work it off quickly.
11/8—147.6 Whew, headed back in the right direction. Just gotta keep it going.
11/9—147.6 Drank lots of water and ate on plan, so this should drop some more soon. Going to be away from scales tomorrow.

11/12—147.2 Whew, breathe….I will be up a little for the round tomorrow, barring a small miracle, but there’s been a lot going of difficult things on in my life, and I caved to some comfort eating. I am back in control now.

Hi all! I'm going to give this another try. Was here a while ago for a few rounds but gave up because I kept losing and gaining the same 5lbs. I should have stayed because now I've kept those 5lbs on and added a few more 🙁

11/04 - 258.8...not happy to be up to this again but it is what it is. Starting back on plan today, and no more excuses.
11/05 - 257.8...stayed under calories, 45 mins of exercise..gave a beginner's yoga YouTube video a try and learned that I'm super tight and not flexible at all! 100oz of water and no soda..I've decided to cut it out entirely.
11/06 - 255.8...stayed on plan, 30min walk and 100oz of water. Glad to know that some of my gain was water weight!
11/07 - 253.4..yay! So actually most of it was water weight 😀
11/08 - 251.2...surprised to see this number already, I'm sure I will probably stick around here for a couple of days. Very happy with it though.
11/09 - 250.6...starting to slow down now, so I guess all the water is finally gone. I had take out chicken strips for supper, which wasn't great, but I kept it within calories and didn't binge!!
11/10 - 249.6...woohoo!! Back to my lowest in July. My mind seems to be in the right place now and I don't think I'll get stuck here again. I've been reminding myself everyday (multiple times) that I control what I eat, not my cravings and I can still eat what I want as long as it fits into plan.
11/11 - 248.6...was suppose to go out of town yesterday but went outside to load up and found a completely flat tire. Took the whole day for my SO to get it in somewhere..sat and long weekend so most things were closed. So my son and I spent the whole day inside, and holy did I crave because I was bored!! Managed to not give in, but it was hard. Will be going out of town today for the night, not sure if I'll have a scale tomorrow or not.
11/12 - no scale...nsv, for the first time ever I went out of town and actually tracked everything and stayed within calories 😁

11/04: 67.5 - More than expected. Yesterday was a big day. My calorie intake looks ridiculous, but then I did have 4 1/2 hours on the judo mat. Was grading (got 20 points, woop!) and then squad training afterwards. And boy does my body feel it this morning. Everything hurts. And I seem to have gained a couple of interesting bruises (mostly on my shins). Hoping to keep under my burn going forward
11/05: 68.4 - Okay I wasn't expecting that. I mean I was, but not nearly that bad. Yesterday I went to a relative's birthday party, and there was plenty of food all the time (seriously, every time I turned around there were more nibbles, and I do have a problem with nibbles.) Dinner was curries (which I love to pieces), but I picked myself a small bowl and didn't overload it and I was honestly stuffed afterwards so I'm glad I went for the smaller size. Muscles still screaming this morning, so I'm hoping that's the reason for the enormous jump on the scales. I'm certainly feeling a little more puffy than usual, so I'm 90% certain everything is retaining water right now. Ended up slightly over maintenance calories which is annoying as so far this week I would have been in deficit every day, however it wasn't much, even with some fairly generous dinner allowance calories, so I'm still reasonably pleased with the whole situation.
11/06: 66.8 - And there it all goes. YaY! Yesterday was a mixed bag, I spend most of the day so very hungry. Mostly because I just didn't eat enough food in the morning, and then my lunch was laughably small, so I had to eat some chocolate to bump up the calories and kept myself distracted when I got home so I wouldn't want to eat all the food before dinner. Ended up keeping myself under my calorie goal, and then I went and judo-ed in the evening, something I didn't eat back any of the calories for, so my deficit for yesterday was pretty good. However, I'm not hopeful for a great day today as I look to my right and see that somebody in my office made cake and sausage roll. I'm already doing my best to not stare at it. Maybe I'll just try and maintain today and eat my deficit in cake lol.
11/07: 66.9 - *deepest sigh* I ended up over yesterday. Only just, and actually it was around my normal maintaining calories, but I really wasn't feeling 100% so I didn't do as much walking throughout the day, or any exercise in the evening, so my daily burn was much lower than normal. And yes it was all because of that blasted cake and sausage roll. And the worst bit was that it was really good and 100% completely worth the calories. I just wish I hadn't had quite as many slices as I did. But I suppose that's why I wasn't that hungry last night so I guess it's swings and roundabouts. Anyway, will be doing better today, no signs of cake or snacks appearing in the office so should be able to stick to target.
11/08: 66.6 - Another really tough day yesterday. Again I was feel really hungry all day. However, stuck to my guns and stayed mostly within range so ended up with a decent deficit at the end of it all. I am pleased to see that my stubbornness is paying off and I am dropping that weigh that's been lurking around.
11/09: 66.5 - Now if my weight could just pause there until the end of the round that would be grand. Hahaha, like that's going to happen. Anyway, another good day yesterday eating-wise. Stuck under my target deficit and even banked a few extra calories by finally donning the running shoes and going for a run. I think my pup very much enjoyed the run around the neighbourhood (he loves to run), but he pushed me hard. And has yet to learn not to run right in front of my feet, so there was a couple of times I almost tripped up on him. However, I'm hoping to get out again tonight in a vague attempt to wear him out and burn those few more calories that bring my average up. That, and I really want chips for lunch, and these rarely fit into my goals, so I'll have to work something out to bring my burn up.
11/10: 66.9 - Not at all surprised by that one. I'm blaming all those chips. Being that I wanted chips, so I has some for lunch. Aaaaand then I also has pie and chips for dinner. However I did go for a run (and to go out and buy the chips) which is the longest run I've done for some time. I looped around one bit twice because I was feeling good, and had I not been hungry I might have looped around a third time. Looks like I might need to find myself a slightly longer loop. And I paced myself so much better than Thursday. Still very slow going, but I'm so happy to actually be getting out there and going for a run. Food ended up over, but with the run (and some extra walking throughout the day) I've ended up with a very nice deficit.
11/11: 66.9 - Lots of Judo then lazing around for the rest of the day. Ate very well and clocked a big deficit for the day.
11/12: 66.9 - Fairly lazy. Took the dog out for a longish walk. Still need to work on his recall. Ate quite a lot for the day, but still ended up under overall. Had fajitas for dinner, a surprisingly low calorie meal although we did have the large wraps as opposed to the mini wraps I normally use, so was a bit larger than normal. However I didn't think much of the spice mix that I bought, so I don't think I'll be using that brand again. I feel like I'm retaining fluid, so I'm hoping that I'll get the drop for tomorrow's weight in to reach my target. Finger crossed
