I've really fallen off the wagon with exercise and making good food choices, but I've still logged a lot. Lots of things got me off my routine, and I'm struggling to get back to it. I'm making a million excuses and I know it, I just don't know how to fix it. I'm determined to get to the gym at least 3 times before/ right after Thanksgiving. I don't participate in black friday, so I can hit the gym then.

Are any of you making Christmas cookies this year? My family loves them but MAN I do not need those around the house. I usually start making the shortbreads and keeping them in the freezer about this time of the season, and I think keeping them frozen will help me. I've really struggled with being hungry later in the day and into the evening recently and that's when the bad decision-making happens for me.

The other thing I *could* do is put mint in everything. I hate mint in baked goods

@DebCountsAll I feel you, Sister! I am struggling to motivate myself to make my annual peanut butter balls. They are FAT PILLS... and of course, I love them. But so does everyone else and it makes for a good economical gift. My plan is to make them in the morning when my motivation is strongest (I have the same evening problem as you) and then either #1 freeze them in my freezer or #2 ask a friend to put them in their freezer. I may have to go with #2. When there is bad food in the house, I always seem to find a weak moment (especially in the evenings) to give in. Not good. Your mint idea is a good one for you.

Yes, I have a lot of baking planned. BUT it is all for gift giving, so I know I can't eat it all. I almost feel bad giving people cookies and breads, but I know they share it with their families, so it's not all calories for one person.

For the breakfast suggestion, I often have to do a rush breakfast in the car and do well taking along a green smoothie with protein powder boost.
If you have a little time to do meal prep on the weekend the best is baking up a batch egg/turkey sausage/spinach cups in a muffin tin and then your set for the week. You said you like oatmeal, well there are also recipes out there for simple baked oatmeal in muffin tin that travel well and can be made in advance! Hope that helps a little and good luck on your journey!:)

I've been having some trouble with my Internet and then my Wi-Fi and had to go through and reprogram everything in my house so I skipped updating last week and was too busy to figure out why my scale wasn't syncing to update this Monday. I know....excuses. Sorry. Used this as an excuse not to log all of my food too. The truth is, I've only had one foot on the trolley and haven't been doing as well as I should and I know it.

Anyway, the scale is back on the Wi-Fi and syncing again now so I can't use that as an excuse anymore. Will have to do it all over again next month when I change internet providers because the one we have is just not dependable.

    Hey everyone,
I’m new here on this forum. I’ve been not logging for over a year. I wanted one last try at having a child, and underwent IVF at 41. Gave birth to twins at 42 last this past spring, and have had a tough recovery and kick in the pants with the reality of caring for twins who don’t sleep well.
When I was pregnant I was put on strict bedrest for 5 months and I ended up putting on tons of weight. I continued to gain weight after birth by using quick and easy - but terrible - food choices. I also didn’t breastfeed so no chance at losing that way. So here I am, utterly exhausted with one older child and 6 month twins, arguably at my heaviest ever. I’m 225kbs today and should be 125, as I’m only 5’3”. I am vegetarian and have PCOS (and borderline hypothyroid). It’s going to be a tough haul, but I don’t want to be too fat and tired to play with my kids. I also don’t want to age poorly as a highly obese person. I already feel aches, pains, knee and back problems. I can’t imagine it getting worse. Time to get healthy!!

Hi, everybody! Not sure if any of my old buddies are still here, but I'm back after a very hard year. I've been fighting congestive heart failure for 2 years now, and now its getting the best of me. I've been in the hospital almost all of November and not sure when I'm going home, I've still got fluid around my heart and a tear in my Mitral valve that needs to be fixed. My case is going before committee on 11/28 for review, to determine if I qualify for a heart pump (LVAD). That's open heart surgery but my disease has progressed so much I need it.
I'm here because I need to get below 35% BMI in order to qualify for a heart transplant. That's only about 15 pounds loss but when you are as weak as I am its difficult to reduce calories and lose weight without losing muscle too. Please pray for me and offer any advice you might have. Thanks

I have exactly 100lbs to lose. I’m not sure how to add friends but I could really use some support and motivation. I’ve lose 60lbs on my own before. This time is definitely more difficult.

Welcome to @consuelo73, @GOINSTD12 and @rinskeep1! The first step is the hardest but utiilize motivation tapes as much as possible. They help me a lot. I listen to one every night before bed and other times as well. Also, when I logged (even if I stray) that helps. Best wishes to all of you.

GOISTD12 - I hope you are taking CoQ10. That is so helpful for congestive hard failure

Back from a week in Ft Myers. Did pretty good all things considered. Time to stop playing games with my health and life and get rid of this weight once and for all. I must put this front and center. I must add exercise. Sort of stressed. Just finished Xmas decorating and my house is a mess. Two parties to give (25 people and 32 people) and I have to buy gifts for the 32 before the 15th. Three parties to attend and I have to prepare a dish for two of them. Also I have to drive to my cabin (1.5 hr one way) Tuesday and may have to go back one day this week. Take a deep breath, breathe, breathe

But regardless, weight loss must be primary

Continue to be motivated. My friend begged me to taste a sweet from her Thanksgiving dinner. I told her I couldnt and she said one bite will not hurt. I told her it would because I know myself and it would not end at one bite. n fact, it could throw me into a full fledged binge

She said "You are being too strict. I guarantee you will not stick to this more than 3 days. I intend to prove her wrong. She is losing with lots of exercise and moderation. I havent been able to exercise and and I've learned I cant take a casual approach to losing weight. I have to be vigilant. I hope she is wrong

Just. WOW. I'm sorry your friend is not being supportive...in fact, she wants to sabotage your plan. People who think the only way to do something is their way? I'd take a step back for a bit.

Debcountsall: She herself has lost some weight but mostly thru exercise. Thanks for the advice

I'm going to a party tomorrow evening and I'm taking a large platter of shrimp. I'll stick to that, bottled water in my wine glass and I know there will be a veggie platter. That should keep my hands occupied. I plan to get to know at least two people there better. I think I have just reached a saturation point where I am so unhappy with myself there is no where to go but up (In this case up is down, down with the weight and down with the bad habits that rob me of health)

I"m feeling confident that I can master these parties without sabotaging myself. Others have done this sucessfully, why can't I

Hello @KATRENAJ I understand where you are coming from. If you feel super motivated and want to abstain from treats, I say go for it. It's part of the battle. We all know it's okay to treat ourselves once in a while... totally fine! But if you are in the zone and want to not break your streak... that's great! Good luck at the party tomorrow!

Well, my new challenge has just started. I had foot surgery yesterday. It went very well but I am sequestered in my bedroom for a few days. I still plan to stick with my eating plan but won't be able to exercise. I heard or read somewhere along the line that weight loss success equals 80% food choice and 20% exercise. I just hope I can focus on the 80% and lose a little this week. I did reach my goal of being in Onedeland before the procedure. I will take that as a win! My biggest NSV is that I have abstained from wine for 81 days now! That is my other win.

Well, time for another pain med then off to sleepy recoup time.

Hi, all. Wanting to join, but unsure how you work together! I can give you my basic stats and a few goals:
    Name: Amy
    Age: 49

    HW: 309
    SW: 301 (late Oct.)
    CW: 285
    1st mini-goal: 275
    2nd mini-goal: 250

The first 6 weeks I worked on CICO, water and portion control. I'm now adding in intentional exercise and strength training. I started my own arts marketing agency about 6 years ago, married with 2 boys 12 and 10, always on the go, so I'm not sedentary but I haven't made time for actual exercise. That's the gist.

Overall, hoping to eventually get to 175, but am focusing on the mini goals for now! Feel free to friend me.

Overall, hoping to eventually get to 175, but am focusing on the mini goals for now! Feel free to friend me.

Welcome! I'd love to hear about the strength training.

Was hoping for the full hundred gone this year but it looks like it will take a bit longer.
Still aiming for the mark though!
