Goal: Stay focused on my elimination diet

12/05--217.3
12/06--217.5
12/07--217.3
12/08--216.4 First time posting this round, but I was weighing. I was sick for a couple of days and not doing much. Going to my meeting this morning with the nutritionist since I started the elimination diet. She wants to review my food journal. When I was sick I realized how much I crave carbs for comfort...that was really difficult.
12/09--216.4 Great meeting with the nutritionist. She was impressed with my progress so far and was really encouraging. However, she did slap my hand for my inconsistent excercising, so that is what I am working on now. Based on reviewing my food journal, she thinks it may be the gluten and not the milk/eggs that are my problem. I will be seeing her in 2 weeks and then we should be starting to reintroduce some foods. Went to the gym this morning and plan on doing some cleaning and trying a new beef stew recipe.
12/10--216.7 I really need to work on getting my water in on the weekends. I think if I fill up a water container first thing in the morning, just like I do at work, I will have a visual reminder of needing to drink water. I was planning on trying an exercise class at my gym this evening, but I remembered that my football team is playing in MNF, so instead I will take the dog out for a long walk. I am going to aim for 3 miles.
12/11--217.5 I am very excited that I actually went out for a 3 mile walk in the cold and dark yesterday. Even though I was ready to stop at about 2 miles, my dog was also over it at that point, I pushed myself and finished up the last mile. It felt really good. Of course, when I went home I ate more than I should have, but I was still near my calorie goal for the day. I went to the gym this morning and tonight, with my husband out of the house, I plan to spend a relaxing evening watching some tv and hanging out with the dog.
12/12--217.5 Woke up feeling heavy, so not surprised about the number on the scale. Eating is going well, I'm expanding the types of foods that I'm eating and it's definitely gotten easier. I'm still working on making sure that I get enough fat and fiber in my diet. Yoga tonight.

@cdavisdeva, Is your little guy beginning to teethe? It seems a random question, but I'm remembering what my two youngest grand children put their parents through during that time. Not much sleep beginning at 6 months.2

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
12/3 130.0 Round 60 end weight
12/4 132.0 Totally expected. CARB LOAD! Satisfied my craving for veggies tempura yesterday! It’s been about 6 months since we last went there.
12/5 133.0 I hardly had any water yesterday and then set my bottle down when we were at Ethel M’s and forgot to pick it up! Carl got up early this morning to take friends to the airport and in an effort to be quiet, dropped something causing me to bolt upright in bed at 3:43AM. I tried to go back to sleep but that didn’t work. It could be the carbs from Monday but I think this higher weight is the result of getting up so early. So I’m having my coffee, and WILL weigh again later. Maybe I’ll try to nap later. I am not a napper. Gym this afternoon with Amy. Treadmill
12/6 131.5 Good day yesterday. Gym @2 today with Amy. Treadmill and weights. Grand-girls have basketball today @ 4:30- one player, one cheerleader. Then I think Jimmy John’s Unwich for dinner and music at Fiesta @6! Busy day!
12/7 132.0 No JJ’s or Fiesta yesterday. My hamstring and neck hurt and it was all I could do to sit on the bleachers and watch the ballgame. Our girls won - big time.
12/8 132.0 Hamstring was better yesterday but neck was not. Finally got to sleep at almost 2AM this morning. Used a 4 year expired “heat wrap” on my neck/shoulder.
12/9 132.0 Met up with Fluffy and her husband last evening. She was talking to another lady and somehow my diet crept into the conversation. She was saying, “Jaine could have . . . Oh no, you can’t eat that, well, (pause, repeat, pause, repeat) I said, “I CAN eat anything, I choose not to.” Then more to the other lady she said, “I’m so glad Joe likes me fluffy!” Personally, I’m glad I don’t take insulin or other diabetes meds or have to have my A1C checked multiple times per year. Went to bed just before midnight and I didn’t sleep well. I may sleep in the recliner tonight.
12/10 132.5 Went to champagne brunch, our OMAD. I ate Keto except a small spring roll HOWEVER, I drank way more champagne than I should have! Spent all day yesterday in a chair with the heating pad wrapped around my neck. Bought Salonpas to see if that would help my neck. It seems to be much better this morning but I’m worried that I will do something to aggravate it.
12/11 134.0 Delayed affect of the champagne? The only food I ate yesterday was a large Greek Salad. I weighed the same thing 3 months ago today, 2 days after our last cruise ended. Until I looked back at my journal and saw that, I was feeling quite distressed. I’m okay now. I know I overindulged on Sunday so as long as I stick to my plan, I’ll ride the wave and be back where I want to be in a couple of days.

This is my eigth round. I am thinking this is the perfect way to move through December, with mini-goals, support and comraderie. I would love to be at 155 by Christmas but will be happy just being solidly in the 150s! Let's make this a month of mindful celebrations taking time to appreciate our loved ones, our health, and our progress on this journey!

Goals--
Carbs < 40-
Steps/day > 12000
Exercise/walk 6 of 7 days/week
Day/Weight/Comment
12/04 -- 160 -- A bump up...but a small one. I ate well and exercised well and posted a big loss last round, so I am not going to let this bother me. NSV -- Yesterday friends invited me to hike with them. I really enjoy walking in the woods, and the company....but in order to make sure I got my exercise in I snuck out for a fast 4 mile walk through the neighborhood before meeting them at 9. So glad that that was my inclination, rather than just writing it off for the day!
12/05 -- 158 -- Now that was a big drop! Fasted until dinner....but then I ate a big portion of salmon and veggies and made myself a LC cake. My energy levels were great all day too!
12/06 -- 161 -- Wow! That's crazy. I'm all over the place this round. Possibly I hallucinated yesterday's scale reading. I also was lightheaded in the morning, so had several cups of broth and then had Chinese for dinner, so maybe I overdid it on the sodium. I will drink lots of water today. We shall see! NSV--I'm not freaking out in the least over the scale this morning, nor is it ruining my day!
12/07 -- 160.5 -- A little better. Skipped the walk yesterday and did a lot of raking leaves. My son helped when he got home from school for 30 minutes, so that I could dash off and catch 45 minutes of zumba. I don't know if he was being sweet when he asked me when I had to leave, or whether he was just trying to have us be done in the yard more quickly!
12/08 -- 158.5 -- I looked at my weight graph and realized this weirdness shouldn't surprise me, as this is what it always does! Drops down, then pops back up for a couple days before continuing down.
12/09 -- 158.5 -- Happy this number stuck around. Bacon & omeletter for breakfast and then dinner party last night. I indulged in some scallopped potatoes, slice of bread and chocolate cake. Mostly back to being good today.
12/10 -- 158.5 -- Slightly indulgent and carby day yesterday. Glad this number is holding.
12/11 -- 158.5 -- Christmas Brunch & carbs with friends this morning. Time to start drinking lots of water!
12/12 -- 160 -- Not surprised. Did not overdo it at the Christmas Brunch...I waited until I got home and had just one more scone several times. They were good though! I still was 300 in the green, but I think the carbs didn't help. Hopefully, I'm back to start weight or lower tomorrow...but otherwise it will come off next round!

Round 61
36y/ 173cm or 5'8"
OSW: 74kg May 2018 (163lbs)
Goal for end of 2018: below 70kg (68ish)
UGW: updated 67-63kg (148-139lbs) end of spring 2019
Round goals: treadmill running, yoga, body weight workoutsTue 12/04 - 71.4kg
This is not great, up 1 kg from yesterday, but I suppose it is the weekend showing - little water, lots of salt and snacks. And last night also turned into a little bit of a binge once again.
Plan for today: food for today weighed and logged, salad and crackers for lunch, fruit snacks. Treadmill after work, healthy dinner with lots of veg and enough to have left over tomorrow. Early night so i get up for yoga in the morning.
Wed 12/05 - 70.8kg
This looks better. Stuck to my plan, went on the treadmill (35mins run and 20mins brisk walk with an incline), had my healthy dinner minus baked potatoes as I burned them, oops. But that meant I had some cals for snacking left over.
And I got up to start today with some yoga despite a terribly hot night, healthy breakfast, lunch will be a guess as I have a meeting. But dinner is ready and waiting for me after the gym.
Thu 12/06 - 70.5kg
Right direction despite not sticking to the plan yesterday. The lunch meeting was very nice steak, the beef here is amazing, no chips. But then I was invited to a pub quiz, which meant I only managed a very short run plus my legs were sooo tired from Tuesday. At the quiz, food was provided and I had to estimate again and also couldn't say no to a couple of beers.
Today, I was too tired to get up for yoga and also won't be going to the gym as I have a lot of work to do and today really want to make it to bed by 10pm.
Fri 12/07 71.4kg
Ugh, I am an idiot. LNS got me, because 'I deserved it' doing work in the evening, being tired and missing home. I am not liking this trend, I was 2kg down from this last week. It wasn't all bad at first, did yoga last night and one American Housewife episode worth of body weight exercises. I discovered that I can use my stairs as a step and still see the TV Didn't log the exercise as I didn't know how to quantify, but I worked up a little sweat. However that surely wasn't enough for the popcorn and pretzles I had after a healthy dinner. So I stopped logging those snacks after the second trip to the kitchen. 😩
I realise that I often eat the same or more cals in fruit and snacks as I do in meals. I need to review and change that. I love my little snacks, they aren't all too unhealthy, but it means I'll never break the habit.
Today, yay, Friday! we only work until 1-2pm in the afternoon - the other days are a bit longer instead - so I will go to the gym for a longer run&walk in the afternoon. I also started this morning with yoga and cucumber water (I can't stop running to the loo). I have packed a slightly bigger portions of breakfast and lunch instead of extra snacks, only fruit for now. Hopefully, that will set me up for the gym later.
Sat 12/08 - 69.8kg I weighed myself several times this morning over the course of 2.5 hours of having a slow morning and a snooze and I got 71.4, 70.8, 70.6 and finally 69.8kg. That is some crazy fluctuation, 1.6kg or 3.5lbs. I mean toilet breaks surely can't account for that much? Anyway, this is nice to see, especially after I did 10.7km on the treadmill yesterday! I was on there for 95mins, walking and running and sweated like never before. It felt really good.
Hunger during the day was ok with my slightly bigger portions. I craved snacks a lot, but only had coffee and an apple. The shorter work day also helped. In the evening I only ate part of the pasta I had cooked and logged and didn't eat all my calories in snacks initially. But then got a bit hungry around 10pm and had some more, but still within calories. I did have a bit of a stressful evening planning another work trip and really wanted some wine, but decided to have parsley&cucumber water instead, so that was a little win. And boy, that water works. My feet looked a bit swollen the last few days and this morning, they are back to normal. Thanks for the tip, tiabirdie56!
Plan for today: started with a quick yoga session, planned healthy, filling meals, including my pasta left overs and have to do some work. My legs are tired from yesterday so no gym, but will do some exercises at home to get my butt off the sofa and away from the laptop. Tonight, people are going clubbing, not sure I'm up for that, dancing would burn calories though. But another eve at home also sounds good.
Sun 12/09 70.8kg
Calories eaten when coming home a little tipsy at night don't count, right? 😝
Didn't go clubbing, but went to some party and had fun. I didn't eat much there, but had a few drinks. But then polished off my popcorn, pretzels and some crisps from the other day. Tried to log it, but who knows. Until then, the day went well, stuck to my plan, did some exercises at home.
Totay, I'm going to a BBQ (or Braai as they call it here) where everything will be guess work. Plus I'm a little hung over and veeery hungry. Gym will have to wait until tomorrow.
Mon 12/10 70.8kg
Ok, so same as yesterday, which is fine. I didn't log yesterday as I knew it wouldn't be accurate anyway. I had a big breakfast, moderate food at the BBQ and a few snacks in the eve. I don't think it was too bad, certainly not at a deficit but also not crazy.
Today, i'm super tired, despite last night being the first cool night, but I will go to the gym tonight and run off my weekend sins I really want to get below 70 by Thu, so i have a salad for lunch and a couple of snacks. Dinner will depend on how many calories I earn on the treadmill.
Tue 12/11 - 70.0kg - now this is better
I was not in the mood for running yesterday, so I decided to just walk on the treadmill. But then I ended up running for some time anyway, even when my podcast went all funny with the sound and I had to switch it off. I really miss walking outside, but I have been discouraged from doing that in the dark here.
Food-wise it was a good day, my larger portions mean I can get by with fewer snacks. Dinner was just couple of slices of bread with avo because there was no power when I got home. That meant I had some space for pretzel snacks and dark chocolate and didn't eat back all my exercise calories.
Today, started with yoga, which was nice and I have healthy day-time food planned. I really fancy pizza for dinner, but i know it'll not help with getting below 70 this round. And if I pick up some after work, i won't even do my bodyweights. Ah decisions decisions...Have a great day everyone.
Wed 12/12 69.6kg there we go, now just gotta keep at it.
I took an unplanned but well needed rest day yesterday and compromised on the pizza craving with half a frozen pizza. During the day I ate well, larger portions of actual food are really making a difference in my snack cravings. I had some chocolate and pretzels in the eve, which made me go above my deficit, but that's ok. Today, I skipped on yoga as I was up late chasing mosquitoes and just too tired. Will be on the treadmill tonight and maybe i'll squeeze in yoga in the eve before my second half of that pizza
Thu 12/13 69.6kg - that's a loss of 1.8kg from the start of this round, but I had also been at this weight once last round.
Yesterday was really good, ate well during the day despite being quite stressed at work. Went on the treadmill for 90 mins and around 10km after work. Again power cut out briefly towards the end (luckily I was just walking) and I don't know my exact distance and time, but I am increasing my efforts, which is good. I didn't have energy left for yoga when I got home and just had my 2nd half pizza, watermelon and some "light" crisps for snacks and had some calories left over.
This morning, I started with yoga, which was great. All food packed and maybe i'll have energy for some exercises in the eve.
Round review: I had a look at my weight chart on MFP and then put all data into Excel to look at my round average and that looks much more consistent. My loss is slooooow, compared to some of you. But I should be ok with that, because I also had many occasions where I made exceptions and didn't log or go over. I'm not in an aggressive deficit and it's still going the right direction. I think, without this group, I would have gained as much as I have lost now. So thank you all and see you next round13 -

04/12 Missed a fair few posts from last round with travelling but have gone back and updated my weights at least. Goals for today are to get my steps in, do some yoga and hit my protein target.
05/12 Missed steps by about 200 but above average for the week so far, I had an early night so didn't have the meal I had planned so protein was well under but I think the rest of the week should make up for it, I have a lot lean meat and fish planned in. Goals for today are to take my vitamins and box the rest of the week's up and to stay in a bit of a deficit again.
06/12 Out for a work lunch yesterday, MFP vs Garmin has me at around a 200 calorie deficit yesterday so I will take that . Goals for today are for Protein Intake, Steps & Calorie Deficit. Must also try to get some yoga in this week.
10/12 Didn't have a great week for my non-scale goals, party season is here and trying to keep on top of my routine last week was tough, still got some exercise in and hit my step goal for the week but not much strength training or yoga. Calories were however spot on and weight is coming down this round
11/12 Good day yesterday - Strength Training and some Yoga done before work. Had an early morning row this morning and calories were on track yesterday, protein a little low but hope to improve on that today.
12/12 Another productive day yesterday with the rowing and some bodyweight exercises at work. Calories were good and protein was better (only been getting around 70-90g per day in lately instead of my usual 100g+)
13/12 Only been loosely logging throughout this round, but it doesn't seem to have impacted my results too much, happy with that, maybe now I am into my 3rd year of logging I've learned something Today's goals are to hit protein goal again (got it yesterday woohoo) and keep calories on track.10 -

Day/Weight/Comment
12/04 - 242.0...didn't eat much of anything all day and then TOM arrived and my stomach became a bottomless pit!
12/05 - 240.0...ate way under calories yesterday (just wasn't hungry, probably still full from the day before!) Did water aerobics and some walking.
12/06 - 241.4...under calories yesterday and did water aerobics, but had a slice of toast at around 9pm and I don't usually eat that late.
12/07 - 237.6...under calories but no exercise. I went to water aerobics but turned around and left again, just wasn't feeling well enough to do it.
12/08 - 237.6...over calories yesterday by a couple hundred..even with exercise ones used. We had our first real snow of the season, there was about 3ft piled up in my driveway. SO did most of it and I did the last 1/2 hr. Was finally able to drink some water yesterday, had 75oz..almost back to my regular.
12/09 - 238.0... Was a hectic day yesterday. Son woke up at 3am throwing up. Threw up again later in the day, started to get a fever and diarrhea, so ended up taking him to the hospital (I worry easily because of his medical conditions and because he was still fighting off his last cold). He still has a bit of a head cold and now the stomach virus but all else was good!! I didn't eat or drink anything until we got back from the hospital and then I over ate because I was starving and drank 2 cans of Pepsi (I had pretty much given up pop for over a month).
12/10 - 238.0... I had a very lazy, stay in, eat whatever I wanted day. It was nice. Back to plan tomorrow. Son seems to be feeling a lot better.
12/11 - 238.0...just barely within calories. Need to drink a lot more water
12/12 - 238.0
12/13 - 239.0...all the bad eating had to catch up with me at some point.
See you all in the next round

Weight is 241 today. BUT... I took some pants out of the closet. We're talking pants I've never worn because they've never fit. But I could button them and zip them and didn't have to INHALE AND SUCK IN. They weren't comfy yet, but I anticipate by the end of this round, I'll be wearing them. These are pants I bought last time I was doing lots of cardio because they were just a hair too small then, I loved them, and they were the last pair the store had. I anticipated getting into them, but never did. I will, though!
12/05
I bought a new Jillian Michaels video on amazon today (Banish Fat, something something, it's the top result on Amazon if you punch in her name), because I just could not even touch Shed & Shred this morning. I thought, maybe it's because my legs don't wanna do these EXACT moves again so soon. And I was right to a degree, but I stopped after 20 minutes. I needed some recovery today. But I think I'm getting a little addicted to getting my heart rate up, hah. I just FEEL better when I do some hard cardio and didn't wanna skip getting SOME, at least. So, I watched through the rest of the video and totally worth the very cheap $7. I can do all of those moves from my room... unlike Shed & Shred, the second half of which would require me to do moves that I just don't have the space to do.
After that, pretty much cooked all evening. I made cauliflower pizza and quiche and ribs, for the next several days. Cauliflower crust was too many carbs and not a good enough texture for so much EFFORT, dang. It didn't even hold up as a pizza crust, just sorta mushy, and I drained the crap out of it. Maybe I'll just buy cauliflower crust from Trader Joes. Those actually work fine. But note to self: Don't basically go and process a vegetable to remove all its water and then expect the carb counts to be good/ for it to be filling. Just because you did it at home doesn't mean it isn't processed. I would have been much more satisfied with butter fried cauliflower, a soft boiled egg, all with a cream sauce and the same toppings as the pizza. And wouldn't have effectively turned a whole head of cauliflower into one cup of unfilling substance.
I also had to go and make myself a cream tea and eat a couple of fat bombs after pizza. Was NOT enough fat on there even drowned in cheese. Fat bombs filled me up, though. At 1400 calories as of writing this. I've had a 1700 calorie goal this whole time and haven't hit it the past couple days. Don't know if this is good or worrying to be having 200-300 calories less than goal.
Have a good evening everyone!
12/06
I weighed myself this morning after a lot of night time bathroom trips again. More water weight coming off. I'm not posting a new weight until day 5, though. Been a bit of an emotional day. I probably won't go on a prolonged blah blah about my food, because it's 4PM and I haven't even eaten yet. I did get 25 minutes of the Banish Fat workout, though. A few minutes more than last time. That seems to be what happens every time I go into a new workout. I do a little more every time until my body is used to the full set. This one might take more than a few rounds, though. This video is divided into circuits and I did three circuits today. Tomorrow I'll either see if I can do four, or see if my body will agree to Shed & Shred again. Banish Fat isn't as hard on my lower body, in terms of muscle strain, but DAMN, that cardio is intense.
What I do wanna write about is how weird it is to see a muscle in my neck. I don't know how to deal with this. There's something and I know people can go through it with weight changes, and it's really weird to me. Even though I'd rather be thinner and feel as good as I'm starting to feel, it still seems a little like, when I look in the mirror, there is an alien in it, doing a REALLY good impression of me. But isn't getting it quite right. The alien is a little too lean. Things have changed. I have identity issues from childhood trauma, so this is pretty big for me. But I'm not going to let it stop me this time. I do think it affected me last time, and the reason it was detrimental, wasn't that it happened, but because I never spoke of it.
Guys, I'm really happy I'm losing weight, and I feel good, but the mirror is really strange right now. Does anyone else feel like this? Can we be friends?
12/07
AaaaaaaaAAAAA.
I was doing great today, and then I was in a hurry. I grabbed, at a gas station, what I thought was a diet soda. But my hand went slightly to one side and got the wrong one. I ended up having about 8 oz of regular soda, while doing keto. Dammit.
But I did Shed & Shred today. AND I made this amazing keto porridge that has 1 net carb. So breakfast was practically nothing. 2 carb breakfast total! And if I feel hungry later, I can have some more of it and not sweat things. I have had 32 net today, with the soda. Everything else was totally in line. I might end up with 40 net carbs by the end of tonight, because I'm playing a game with friends, and will be up late. I'm disappointed, but not gonna let this little bump depress or stop me. Just want to remind myself not to be too upset if tomorrow's weight isn't good, and if the next couple of days require a few more calories, to keep food cravings manageable. But I'm hoping ketosis survives the small bump. I have hardly had 1000 calories today yet, so my body'll probably use the sugars right away. I was also annoyed to find that my keto strips was just an empty box. Where did I put the actual strips!? Hah! I wasn't using them. My smell after workouts made it pretty obvious that I was in ketosis. I'm just disappointed because I didn't do this on purpose. This wasn't me making a decision and deciding an indulgence was worth it. This was just an "in a hurry" mistake with a drink I am relatively unfamiliar with. I guess we'll see how tomorrow feels.
Grump.

12/10 241
What the deuce? I wrote this whole big long post yesterday, and it isn't here. I'm a little upset. Also upset about teetering back at 241ish, but this is why I don't go on the stupid dramatic roller coaster of weighing every single day. It's just not healthy for my emotional state. I can't imagine constantly looking at the scale and wondering why it goes up, down, up, down, or worse, stays the same over the course of a small handful of days.
So, reminder to myself. I'm going to keep eating a low sugar diet. The calories are gonna fluctuate. Sometimes they'll be high. Sometimes they'll be low. I had an 1100 calorie day the other day for no particular reason and yesterday, had like 2500 calories. Just like my average weight over time, one day, even one WEEK, has no bearing on my overall progress, even if it seems to.
We are doing very well and moving forward! Don't let the little ups and downs cause you to backslide into hopelessness.
Did Shed & Shred today. Early parts were really hard for some reason, but I had no trouble after warming up sufficiently. That just didn't happen in the time I was doing the "warmup" portion, lol. Maybe I should start my workouts with 15 minutes of very low impact, like some older videos, before they figured out intermediate heart rate stuff wasn't actually that great in terms of exercise advice. Get a warmup for my warmup. Burn a few more calories. Heh.
12/11
My dad coded at the hospital today.
Before you guys get all, "I'm so sorry", this was an abusive man who was responsible for much of the psychological damage that drove me to twenty years of depression and a few other mental disorders (dissociative) which it has taken me into my 30's to get enough education about, to even begin getting help.
I am a little upset, though. I have intentionally avoided talking to him for ten years, at least. Not a word exchanged. But my sister's upset and sent me a message to say he loved me "no matter what happened". And I had to really fight myself not to chew her out a little. She seems to be under the impression that the rift between us had anything to do with the student loan he agreed to pay before I stopped talking to him; and then he tried to abuse and manipulate me to pay later, because I finally found the self-respect and self-love and therapy to cut him out of my life. But my mom divorced him when I was a teen, and my sister is six years younger than me.
I'm pretty sure my sister doesn't really get to remember having to live with him, day after day, as a monster. She doesn't remember him occasionally just not showing up home with no explanation, or the illegitimate kid he had with some other woman that he proceeded to shame my mother with by dragging him, as an infant, to the family Christmas of my father's side of the family, as a "godson", or the way he blamed everything that went wrong on my mother, how he never made any effort to connect to her at all, or all of the littler things that he said and did. By the time they were divorced, he was hardly around anymore, and my sister would have been, at the most, ten.
So she got a lot more of the father that pretended to be nice, because he was around other people. He always acted nice around his extended family, friends, and so on, any time out in public. But in private, me and my mom in particular were f---ing punching bags. He was a coward who only cowed and abused people who couldn't or wouldn't lash back at him. She thinks he is that exterior, but he is actually a horrible person. He won't get therapy or help, and never would, and that violence is always lurking under the facade. Anyone can act nice for a few hours. That doesn't make them good. She doesn't realize that. My father, since around the time of the divorce, moved in with one of his mistresses. They've stayed together, but at some point over the years, that mistress confided in my mother that she'd gotten the brunt end of this garbage, too, and she extended my mother an apology. That she understood now. I can't fathom why she kept him around, if she understood, but I guess battered wife syndrome is a thing.
But I think that my sister's comment was about her, and not me. I don't know why she thinks it's important that I think he loved me. I mean, I know he didn't, because love is as much an act as a feeling, and on top of that, he has never really known me, much less NOW, when we haven't talked in ten years. Perhaps she just wants someone to commiserate with and feels like she needs someone to mourn with her. I desperately wish that it could be me, but it just can't be.
I wish that my sister and whoever else has misguided affections for him didn't have to suffer. But they say one of the biggest things that people who have been abused have to learn, is that abuse and love do not co-exist. They cannot. You can't love someone and intentionally or through egregious neglect, hurt them. That is not what love is. Like I said, love isn't feelings alone, but also actions. I have learned that lesson, and I'm not going to backpedal because he's dying. Self-love comes first, and the version of me who loves herself, can not possibly love him.
Ultimately, he is a black-souled demon, and if he is on his way back to hell, then the world will be a much brighter place.
If you read all this, thank you for letting me vent. I didn't wanna let it out on my sister, who probably can't handle it right now. But it had to come out, bad.
Days before today under the spoiler
12/12 239/240
Thank you to everyone for all of the hugs yesterday.
I know it's just a little button, but it was so nice just knowing that many people saw it and understood. Like a tiny internet pat on the back.
Today I'm trying to get back into things, but I'm having some female issues. It's probably PMS, but hard to say because my hormones aren't great. I have to take pills to keep things stable, and things... well, let's say they fluctuate far more than a normal woman, and this isn't like typical menopause stuff or anything, this has been this way always. And I'm not quite in menopause age range yet. (Roughly another decade before I gotta worry about that.)
But yeah, I feel really cranky and depressed the past couple of days, along with some light headedness (this happens to me sometimes during PMS) and so I'm PRETTY sure I'm gonna have a period. But with how my body is, I don't know for sure, 100%. Sometimes that's just how life is, and maybe things have really just been kinda garbage. Like today, the elderly lady that I live with (I rent a room in a house), got this huge hair up her butt about this one particular 1/4 measure. It is a white plastic cup measure, and there are THREE 1/4 cup measures in the cabinet. But she literally nagged and whined all day because she could not find this one particular cup. It was incredibly trying.
But like, she's one of those people who has always loved drama. She has always treated minor things as though they're catastrophic, and has gone on hysterical whining and temper tantrums over nothing, many times. And I can take it when she's flying off the handle because of an argument with a friend, or a bill was higher than she wanted it to be, or some junk, or she's bawling about some sad old movie. I can bite my tongue there, because yeah, it's definitely always an over-reaction, but it's still something that a person could actually be upset about. But once in a while it's something like THIS. Something so deeply trivial that you start to wonder if you're in the Matrix and the algorithms and programs got corrupted, because no sane person could possibly be this upset about something this extraordinarily trivial. This has to be a really bad alien simulation. This can not possibly be real life right now. Some foreign entity that doesn't understand humans is making this up off the seat of their pants. Any of you guys Rick and Morty fans? I started looking for the damn poptart in a toaster car, over here.
Anyway. I'm back down to 239/ 240. I decided to stop counting my calories or thinking of them too hard before I eat. I know by now which foods are keto and which aren't, and where the carbs come from. Need to be mindful not to eat too much dairy or meat, but beyond that, all the fat, veggies, flax and chia I want. I ate one time today and it was 950 calories. This makes a good point to my mind. I lost a 5 lbs in those first ten days, during round 60. This round, I started logging and trying to restrict my meals, and never hit that wonderful satiety that keto is known for and... suddenly, no weight loss, lots of really borderline days, and even a couple over 2000 calories. So I WILL log things, but I will NOT look at what the calories are before I've made myself a nice meal, and eaten to satiety, when I am hungry. If it's an 1100 calorie meal, but it lasts me all day, that's way better than three 600 calorie meals, NONE of which make me feel satisfied. I will take a deep breath and see if I actually do a lot better when I don't pre-monitor the calories. I suspect that I do average a lot less calories eating once or twice a day, to satiety, than if I try to eat several smaller meals. But I need to be brave enough to let it happen. I'm going to try.

12/07 194.6 Not surprised. Spontaneous trip to Chili’s. Cheese curds & 1/4 of a Boss Burger. Actually surprised it’s not more. Tonight is our office Christmas party. I will not pass up my annual filet mignon!!!
12/08 193.6 Well what do ya know? A loss!!!! Enjoyed my filet at the Christmas party. Skipped the appetizers, had about 1/3 of my filet, small scoop mashed potatoes & small scoop sweet potatoes. Vegetables were asparagus & brussel sprouts so had to skip those. Also didn’t even taste the chocolate sin dessert!! Now there’s some willpower!! I’m a ‘you had me at chocolate’ kind of girl. BUT I saw a group pic of the party & it almost made me cry - I do not like the way I look at all. I do want to look better, feel better, have my clothes fit, have more energy. I know this & I know how what needs to be done so why oh why can’t I just do it?? UGH!

With the help of these challenges, I’ve made it to a very comfortable weight for me. I’ve lost some weight many times in the past, but my biggest challenges have been to maintain it. My goal this round and going forward will be to maintain my weight in the low to mid 140’s.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/04 - 144 - I'm happy and a little surprised I didn't have a delayed bump from the weekend. Even though I only had a couple hundred extra calories each day, I've gotten so used to only eating around 1200 calories that unless it's a special event of some kind, I feel kind of guilty when I go over.
12/05 - 144 - Holding steady, which is where I like to be for now.
12/06 - 143 - It's good to see a little drop before the weekend.
12/07 - 143.5 - Not enough water yesterday.
12/08 - 143.5 - I just had a wonderful evening with my daughter. We went to see Christmas lights at a local historic mansion then went out to eat. I ate just under maintenance, but the quality of the calories were not that great. I'm sure my weight will be up tomorrow, but it was worth it.
12/09 - 144.5 - This is what I was expecting. I just hope it doesn't go up again tomorrow since my body can have a delayed reaction at times. Drinking water and eating better today. I'm not regretting the fun last night at all!
12/10 - 145 - Oh well, the difference this year is that I'm facing the inevitable weight gain from the parties and extra family time (which I am not regretting) and am realizing how to mitigate it. Plenty of water today in preparation for two Christmas parties tomorrow.
12/11 - 145 - All the water I drank yesterday did not make a dent. I'm still going to enjoy my office Christmas lunch and ladies golf league dinner tonight though. I have at least a week to count calories after tonight before I have another celebration.
12/12 - 145.5 - After logging my calories at just over 2000 yesterday (who knew a chocolate martini had over 400 calories!) I considered not weighing myself this morning. But as a couple other people have mentioned here, not keeping track of my weight is what got me to this place to begin with.
12/13 - 145 - I'm up a pound for this round, but I'm still within my maintenance weight, so I'm happy.14 -

My goal is to stick to 1500 calories or less per day. I would love to see the 240s by the end of December and I feel confident I can do it.
12/03 - 256.6 - End R60 - bumped up 2# from the day before with indulgent after dinner eating.
12/04 - 255.8
12/05 - 253.8 - This is what I like about daily weighing. I can see that one or two off-plan days don't have to turn in to ruination as long as I get back to plan asap. (I edited my weight after posting because of TMI )
12/06 - 254.4 - Yesterday, I made fudge for my partner to take to his Christmas party at work. Do I have to even tell you who ate some? To taste test of course. The scale will show me a better number tomorrow.
12/07 - 255.6 - The scale didn't show me a better number today. lol . Too much non-essential eating before bed.
12/08 - 254.0 - That's better!
12/09 - 000.0 - DNW - I'm without a scale this morning. I ate approx. 4735 calories yesterday, almost all of them last night, all carbs & fat. Ugghhhh. I've had a very emotionally exhausting week and really crappy sleep and it's showing in my very poor food choices.
12/10 - 255.0 - I'm shocked! Yesterday's calories were 2205 and with the 4735 cals. from the day before, I really thought I'd see a higher number on the scale. Back to better food choices and lots of water today.
12/11 - 253.6 - I like it!
12/12 - 253.0 - I like this, too!
12/13 - 252.0 - I'm very happy I pulled myself together to finish this round!

Back in the "legal" zone. I'm still slacking off on exercise because of lingering pain, especially in my joints. The elimination diet I was on eliminated 15 pounds but not the pain. Still a win! We tried another short course of prednisone and will re-check inflammation levels mid month and go from there. In the meantime, I need to suck it up and exercise anyway. Maybe I should join a "get off your butt for 10 days" challenge!
12/05 - 131.2 - 1160 - 10-day ave 1383
Follow-up visit with dietitian today re. the elimination diet, which has made no difference in my pain/inflammation. It will be interesting to hear what other suggestions she might have. In the meantime, I'm trying a new baked salmon patty recipe for lunch. Mmmm!
12/06 - 130.4 - 1370 - 10-day ave 1399
OK, back down where I belong. My dietitian visit left me a little confused and blue. I've seen no difference in pain with the elimination diet I did, and no symptoms of any sensitivities as I've added foods back into my diet. The only major changes I've noticed is that my gut seems to be functioning better and I lost 9 pounds on the diet. Anyway, my integrative doctor is sending me to another rheumatologist, and I know he's going to want me to take prednisone long term, and I'm not happy about that. The dietitian did say that 6 weeks of eliminating foods may not be enough and suggested I think about doing it again for 12 weeks, or even doing the much more restrictive auto-immune paleo diet. But of course if I take pred and follow the diet and the pain subsides, we won't know which treatment did it. I had such high hopes for the elimination diet I was on that I'm really bummed out right now. I don't want to be on pred long term but it's the only medication mentioned in anything I've read about PMR. Anyway, thanks for listening. My salmon patty (new recipe) yesterday was delicious, so there is that! And our kitten is lovely and funny and sweet, and I just sold two paintings, and I've just started a new book (writing, not reading, although I did just start Louise Penny's new book, Kingdom of the Blind). So I guess a bit of pain isn't the end of the world. Thanks for giving me a place to unload.
12/07 - 130.6 - 1140 - 1382
I'm feeling slightly less overwhelmed, although...I asked for a referral to a different rheumatologist and my integrative doctor tried, but because ALL the rheums in this system are in the same practice, they won't let me see a different doctor. I will not go back to the first one - he didn't listen, dismissed my concerns about prednisone, IMO lied to me abut potential side effects (said there are non for short-term use, which is not true), and spoke so fast I couldn't understand him (I had to see the printed appt report before I knew what he diagnosed, although I asked him to repeat several times). The other system in town has rheumatologsits but it's a 40-min drive to the office, which I'd just as soon avoid, so I'm pretty annoyed. I am going to contact the hospital admin to find out about recourse - can they really deny me care because I didn't feel comfortable with one of their doctors? The patient is punished for the doctor's shortcomings? OK, another rant, but I'm almost to the point of saying I'll just live with the pain. So annoying.
12/08 - 131.8 - 1884 - 10-day ave 1418
It's water! We went out for lunch yesterday and my calories & sodium were both high for the day, plus I had a minor binge last night that would have been fine if not for the big lunch. But it's fine - I have today mapped out. Happy weekend!

12/11 - 131.6 - 1770 - 10-day ave 1450
Went a little overboard yesterday, so I'll watch it today. We're having cabbage soup for dinner, so I know that's a low cal meal. I've decided anyway that hey, it's December, and if I can stay below 135, which was my UGW until I dropped lower, that's fine for this month. I may have to go back to another elimination diet after Christmas to try again on inflammation, but I'm going to enjoy my birthday and the holidays. So there!
12/12 - 131.8 - 1597 - 10-day ave 1480
Christmas party this evening, and I plan to enjoy the food, so I'm eating lots of protein and veggies the rest of the day and hitting the gym for at least an hour. Need to get my 10-day average back down. OTOH, I baked cookies to take tonight and am controlling myself, mostly. Oh, well - in two weeks the temptations of Christmas will be gone for another year. .
12/13 - 132.6 - 1581 - 10-day ave 1473
Totally expected this. I pretty much pigged out at the party last night, and that's ok, I planned it. I also think some of it is water from all the sugar. Now I'm back on track, with an occasional goody through the 25th. So I'm up a little for the second round in a row. Hopefully I'll stay here or lose a little by the end of R62, and then drop this again as I try another round of elimination dieting. All good. On a happy note, though, at least 5 people at the party cornered me to ask how I lost the weight. That was nice!

CW - 186.4
RGW - 185.4
UGW – 135
Food Goals:
Get 5 servings of fruits/veggies every day.
Stay under my calorie goal of 1,400.
Exercise Goals:
Walk at least an hour 3 days a week, 4 days if nothing better is available.
Weight training 1 day a week
12/04 - 186.4 Just one day off from hitting my 186 goal. I guess eating 300 calories all day and 1100 after 6:00 p.m. is going to have an impact. Sure I stayed within goal but the timing screwed me for next day weigh in - lesson learned. Going to the gym tonight for weights. After six rounds I've lost 5.9 pounds. Very close to a pound a week. If I keep that pace I'll be at my goal in 1 year. I started in March but didn't really get serious until July or August. Here's to the next six weeks. It would be nice to start the new year in the 170's.
12/05 - Traveling no scale. I drove four hours yesterday in the snow, then went straight to the hotel. I did two miles on the treadmill but did not make it to the gym. The roads are clear, I'm going to the gym tonight.
12/06 - Traveling no scale. Went to the gym and had a great workout. Stayed within calories and didn't have any sweets. I'm driving 4 hours home this afternoon - in snow again. I'm a little anxious about tomorrow morning's weigh-in after two days of nothing. This weighing every day thing is kind of addictive.
12/07 - 186.1 I'm happy with that. My boyfriend was traveling with me which means I'm going to much more interesting restaurants and it's more of a challenge to stay within calories. In this case Thai and Vietnamese; I struggle to log it. I do my best guess and that has to be good enough. I still exercised and didn't go too crazy (Ok I had more of his onion strings than I should have on the last day).
12/08 - 186.7 Boom- Chicka Dark Chocolate drizzle is fine in small quantities, unfortunately small quantities aren’t possible because it’s so delicious. I now know I can’t handle it and won’t buy it again. I have no excuse
12/09 - 185.3 Not sure why I’m down today but I ain’t mad. I was right on target yesterday and my only exercise was moving furniture and house cleaning but I guess it was enough.
12/10 - 185.5 Up slightly, my guess is the sodium rich Papa Murphy's Chicken artichoke delite pizza I had for dinner. Within calories easily but high in sodium. I would think that would be gone tomorrow as long as I stay on target today. I walked 4 miles yesterday and it was great. I am starting to love walking in the cold. I have a meeting with my boss at 3:30, should be done by 4:00. That should give me enough time to get another walk in before it's too dark.
12/11 - 185.5 I'll take no change. I don't want to jinx myself I want to end this round at 185.4 or lower. I have stay focused. I did get 3 miles in yesterday, fastest time yet 50:05. That's speedy for me! I would love to get to 15 minutes miles instead of 16 minute miles then I could get 4 in an hour. That would be awesome sauce. Tonight weights! When I restarted this lifestyle change for the 4th or 5th time I had 78 pounds to lose, the goal seemed too unobtainable. I'm a third of the way there now, I can see that' it's going to be possible as long as I stay vigilant.
12/12 - 184.9 I didn't expect this, but I'm VERY happy about it. It was in the 50's yesterday so I took a short 1.3 mile walk before going to the gym. On the weight machines for a little over an hour. I will say I couldn't do some of the heavier weights last night. Not sure what's up with that but I'll go at it again next Tuesday. Since I'm below goal for this round today, I'm scared I'll be up tomorrow. I don't care about calories today, just keep the sodium LOW!
12/13 - 185.4 I knew yesterday was an anomaly. I'm happy with this round. The next ten days will be a real challenge with holiday baking starting this weekend. Good luck my friends.13 -
Goal: stay mindful and don't blow the month just because of a few more outtings then usual.
Try to see under 140 by DEC 22
Keep at it!!

12/04 145.4 up a .2...why? No clue. Ate within a deficint, exercised good and had a little over 1.2 liters of water. I am assuming it's a slight fluctuation before a woooosh lol or at least I hope 🤞🤞volleyball tonight and I always see a loss the next day, so needless to say I am excited to weigh in tomorrow.
12/05 145.2 and down again. I was fine yesterday morning but by around dinner time the hunger monster awoke. I couldn't seem to get full, regardless of how hard I tried. I played volleyball and exercised pretty good yesterday but because of my eating, I ended on a maintenance. I also had a good amount of energy last night after I got home, so decided to exercise a bit more while doing laundry and didn't end up going to bed until after 2. Needless to say I need to get a bit more sleep then that.
12/06 145.2 my body is comfortable here. I guess I shouldn't complain, had a chocolate craving around 8 so that overkilled my calories by a bit. Exercised good and 2 liters of water.
12/07 144.0 last night I started feeling really sick. I think I caught the flu so I went to bed early and am still feeling sick now..have No clue what happened, was fine all day then BAM, nausea. So, as much as this number excited me, I also know it's because I only ate 600 cal. Yesterday and couldn't even count the amount of hours I have been sleeping. Once I feel better and start eating normally again, I will, get a more accurate number
12/08142 still sickness weight with little to no eating and maybe a bit of dehydration, even though water was the only thing j made sure I was indulgent in. I am feeling much better today and hungry...so I expect this weight will increase by tomorrow 😥😥 I wish it hadn't been because of an illness
12/09 142.8 i am not looking at this as a usual gain, I am looking at it as a "I am back to eating normal and I am feeling better, so I obviously would gain after two days of eating nothing" I am still not taking this as my for sure weight, I think I will wait until it balances out again. I got back to exercising yesterday, especially because I felt like a million bucks, which was great! Drank 1.2 liters of water and stayed under calories..hope everyone is having a great weekend!
12/10 142.8 so I guess my body likes it here and has decided to stay. I am assuming being sick had made my body feel as if it was doing a fast because I am surprised I didn't gain more weight back now that I have been eating normally again. I'm not complaining though lol. Finally moved back into my apartment and was able to sleep in my own bed ever since the flood months ago, so moving boxes and cleaning kept me active. My TOM is expected on Wednesday so I am assuming I will have a weight fluctuation before the end of the round 😥😥 always at the worst time I tell ya! Drank 1 liter of water and ate under Calories. I Hope everyone has a great Monday!!
12/11 no weigh in, sort of had to take the car in for an oil change so I had to be up a lot earlier than usual..didn't get to weigh in until after I ate and I was a whopping 144. TOM is due tomorrow so we will just have to see In the morning what my scales has to say for sure. Today I received an early birthday present...a fit bit!! I am so happy and excited!! My mom decided I should be rewarded, i guess, for all the hard work I have been doing and she knows how anal I am about being exact when it comes to my steps and calorie burns. I don't think I have ever received such a nice, thoughtful gift and to keep the momentum going, my team won all 6 of our volleyball games tonight!! Today was really a great day!
12/12 143.8 woke up feeling and looking terribly bloated, so the pound isn't surprising. I have been eating a little more than usual but I am still managing a respectable deficint. NSV I am over 7 days without having a chocolate. When I first started "..10 days" I had a better handle on things, having chocolate once or twice a month but ever since Halloween the cravings have been harder to manage and the amount of times I was giving in was not ok. Although the past couple of days have been the most difficult (TOM woes) I managed to stick to no chocolate and am planning to keep going until my birthday.
12/13 142.4 exercised good, drank 1.2 liters of water, 13000 steps and ate under Calories. I set my step goal for 8000 but I don't know what would be a good goal, so I went for the minimum. I know I can walk more then I do (a lot of the steps are because of cardio routines) so I am greatful for the fit bit.. I can really step it up now. I am happy to be ending here, it's a great loss for the round 😁
🏃♀️ Heeeerrreee weeeee goooooo 🕺✊14
