HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDI !!!:drinker:
Just checking in today. Its a hot one, already did my walk today and
the sweat was running down my legs.
Getting ready for another weekend at the boat so I have to pack a few
things and food is already planned. we are counting down the weeks
now. Dave will be pulling the boat out of the water end of September
to do some work on it with a friend of ours.
My girlfriend and hubby are coming down on Sunday for a sail.
Hope weather is good and more important the winds are good :glasses:
Tonight Dave and I are going to see THE HELP. Heard it was pretty good.
I will let you gals know how it was.
Have a Happy Friday everyone.0 -
[img][/img]HAPPY BIRTHDAY to "OLD TYKE"----aka Judi! Haven't seen ya lately but best wishes from all of us, luv!
Great to see BARBIE and JAKE back, and loving life, as expected! :drinker:
DEB, don't recall any relatives in your neck of the woods, but it sounds very interesting!
JACKIE, I love lamb, too, but if I eat it once a year, it's a lot! When we go to our favorite Greek restaurant, I treat myself once in awhile to their chops, which are incredible! MY DH is diabetic, and never was a meat eater, but once in awhile I enjoy it. Mostly, we are poultry eaters.
JERI, so now that you've spoiled us with your amzing photography, I never noticed when you go in again for the surgery. ??? ...:flowerforyou:
MARIE...Keep that happy star going, sleepy or not! (Hope today is better ) and I give you , too
SANDY, now I'm all confused about the August birthdays, but I think yours is NOT August. Hope I didn't goof!:ohwell:
SHIRLEY, take it easy on those sweaty walks! Chafing can become a problem!!! But then, your life on the boat sounds so great!
:noway: OH NO, BECKY!!! What were you doing up at 3 A.M.?
Gotta run now, DH is STARVING! Me, too.

Another sucessful day # 5 i think.Getting this way of eating down pretty good.
I was another hot one here. We just stay in. Get out early in the morning to do our running around.
Tthey say in the north they stayed in in winter time an in the south they in......the summer.
i had a nice dlong nap and woke up and had to ask Jerry if I have had my dinner He said no. I am not taking that meds anymore. It just make me to draggy and sleepy. If I remember i have taken it once before and had to get off of it.Lonf time ago.
Buzz your post looks and sound so neat A pleasure to read it. I wonder why lamb is so high.
Well I almost lost this post so will sign off.0 -
 Judy, your trip sounds wonderful  we were without internet access for almost a week and I didn't like it at all
 Buzz, we gave up red meat years ago except for lamb at Passover
 Jackie, congrats on losing another pesky pound:bigsmile:
 Becky, if you have an email address with the internet provider and you change providers then you have to change email address.....since our email address is gmail it can stay with us no matter where we go.......thanks for the reminder about sleep. We didn't want to get up so early, we just woke up in the middle of the night with our heads full of ideas about what we wanted to do with the move........some nights I got up and moved to the recliner and read myself back to sleep.....last night was the first night I got a full night's sleep ( 10 PM to 5:30 AM which is pretty normal for me)
 Marie, a day full of sleep was probably really good for you
 Shirley, have a great weekend on the boat......you are so right to take full advantage of seasonal pleasures when the season is right
 today was the line dance performance at the county fair......Jake couldn't come with me because the man came to install the new garage door opener and he had to stay home and supervise. We wore black pants, white shirts, cute bolo ties with happy faces on them and red cowboy hats. We danced eleven dances and taught one dance to people from the audience who wanted to come up on the stage. The weather was great (68 degrees and sunny).
 the dogs are loving all the great places we have to walk here and they don't even notice the deer that walk around freely. they love their little fenced back yard. That's a good thing because I haven't had time to take them to the dog park for a few days. Bernie is adjusting to being an indoor cat. He spends more time with us in our laps and on the table.
 I am so happy to be reading about all of you and posting my food and exercise on MFP.  :bigsmile:0 -
Good morning everyone. Sorry I didn't get back last night but after 4 hours on the allotment digging, grass cutting and weeding in glorious sunshine I was exhausted (serves me right!!) so after a fish supper with yes, runners and French beans, I had an early night for the first time in years. After a day of blue skies and warm temperatures, today it's rain, rain, rain so after a little housework I will curl up on the sofa and watch rugby.
Buzz ~ I'd have to cover my chooks eyes if they ever wandered in and tried to read your post. Poultry eaters indeed!!!  If you found my lost pound you are more than welcome to keep it because it could too easily pop back to visit me!:drinker:
Becky ~ I love green veggies too which is just as well since we are growing so many!
Barbie ~ You paint such a wonderful picture of the line dancing at your county fair and I'm so impressed with the 11 dances you all performed. It sounds like the temperature was perfect for the day and it was great fun. Any chance of a photo?? Delighted to hear that you are all settled in and trust Bernie is enjoying his tree as much as your laps!
Marie ~ When I see all the new lambs running around on our local moorland in the spring I often ask myself why the meat is so expensive. In this part of the UK there's little or no feed or even care needed as they fend for themselves grazing. Such pretty little faces ~ I shouldn't want to eat them should I.
We've had so many wasps flying around the past week or so. It's thought they had a bumper year because of the warm Spring but are now becoming a nuisance. There are hundreds in my apple tree and yesterday I found a couple of apple skins dropped on the ground where the wasps had completely hollowed out the centre eating the fruit. They can attack beehives to eat the honey and kill the bees so last night I placed what they call an entrance block on the front of my hives. It reduces the size of the doorway so the guarding bees stand more chance of keeping out the wasps but one colony wasn't too impressed and came out to chastise me so I got stung on the bum in my efforts to protect them!! What with them and Charlie the cockerel taking aim I'm thinking it's the next area to concentrate on a size reduction.
My vacuum cleaner calls so I'll get on with the housework. It's the only exercise I'll be doing today.
Happy weekend to you all:flowerforyou:

Hi Marie...glad you are enjoying your plan. Back to work for us,one trip before time off. Iwe were busy this time at home, so no pc and I fell asleep before logging my food on ww. Forgot to weigh too!
Barbie, so good to read your post, youre life is such an adventure!
Jackie, I'm still laughing about your bum!
We had a cute kitten visit us this morning. It wanted breakfast, then it found its way into the house, we put it out and got the garage door closed before it ran back inside. Very friendly, but didnt like to be held. It must belong to someone, a shame though, to get away from them when so young, less likely to go back home. We didnt have time to take it to the shelter.
Time to go to work0 -
Happy Saturday!! No sunshine this morning, looks like a shower is on our future. Had a great time Thursday night, first we went to Ed Debevic's is a restaurant set in the 50's where the staff is rude to the customers and also dance on the counters, the kids love it there. At Navy Pier they went in the maze, we rode the giant Ferris wheel and also went on a speed boat ride which was great.
We had a lot of fun and did a lot of walking, so I got plenty of exercise.
Took my hubby to an ear specialist yesterday, he think he may have BPPV (Brant-Daroff Positional Vertigo). He gave him some exercises to do to help with the dizziness. It is caused by crystals in your eardrum especially if you are hard of hearing like my husband is. The doctor recommended him getting a hearing aid (Hooray) because he said if waited too long then they don't work as well as your ears have to be trained to use them. We go back in two weeks so hopefully he is well by then.
I lost a pound on the scale this morning but I am not posting as this is the weekend and we have plans for both nights at my step sons. I have been trying to record my meals to help me keep honest but must admit I do go over some days, but not by much.
Phoebe, stay safe on the road and I so agree with you about Jackie's post.  I do hope the kitten finds it way back home or some one else will take it in until they do find the owner.
Marie, so glad you are feeling better and am so proud of you on your new food plan. I love your gold stars and hope to see them daily.
Jackie, your post was just so funny, you write so well. I would not sit well with your chooks either as chicken is mostly what my hubby and I eat. (sorry) I am having a visual with the wasps and cockerel chasing you and attacking your bum, so funny.
Barbie, so glad you and Jake are more or less settled into your new home. If I were close I could bring you bread, rice and wine, at least I think that is what George Bailey gave his new homeowners. I just can't remember the saying he gave with each item.
I too would love to see a video of your line dancing, someone should record and post as Marie suggested. Did your puppies have a fenced yard with the old house? If not I bet they are loving the new yard. Post some pictures and let us share in your new adventure.
Buzz, hope you are all healed now and you get some time to relax once in a while.
Shirley, your weekends so much fun, I don't think I was ever on a sail boat but I could be wrong. You have room to sleep on your boat don't you? Do you sleep in the middle of the water or do you dock somewhere? I know little about boats so please excuse my ignorance.
Becky, did I miss a post about no Internet on weekends? We are so used to you opening our mornings, we miss you.
As far as the birthdays if anyone can tell me who we should delete from the list I will be happy to do so. I think if we haven't heard from them in over a month it would be time to let go, does anyone agree?
It is getting very dark and a storm is brewing, hope your day is going to be great!!0 -
Sandy that sounds like a great ideal If they decided to come back nd get active again we can always add them back on.Less confusion that way.
Thanks Sandy about the Happy Star. I hope
to continue with it. Will be posting my weight Monday morning.
My wish is just to lose what I have gain since my last posting of my weight and then go from there.
Its time to go fix me some more veggies for lunch. I keep three containers of veggies in fridge and when one get empty i have to fix more. I do fix a bowl of cold slaw made all the time. So my meals are fairly simply and easy. No guess works. This portion control is working out fine Last Sunday when I fixed Jerry some chicken and Dumplins I had 1/2 c in my portions controll plate and it seems not to effect me.any Way. 1/2 servings of beans, 3......1/2 servings of veggies and 4 snacks a day. for Breakfast it is 1/2 c of fiberr one, 1..... 6 oz container of yogurt ......2T. lite cool whip 1/2 c fruit........ Dinner and lunch is the Same
Everyone have a wonderful day0 -
Phoebe ~ Perhaps I shouldn't reduce the size of my backside since it must offer some protection because I can't feel the sting today!: I just need to learn not to turn my back on Charlie!!
Sandy ~ I'll forgive you and I see Marie also cooks chicken for Jerry but hopefully my chooks are safe with the Atlantic between us!:noway:
A good idea about the birthdays and you are so good to keep up with who's here or not.
Jackie0 -
Barbie. Gmail is sure good for when you move. Are you settled yet?
Marie. I am glad you are feeling better. Chicken and dumplings sounds good and I am sure half portions are just as good. Love your stars.
Sandy I hope you get your dh's ear problems sorted out. Sounds like you are having a great summer. My weight has been up and down around what I've posted. I'm trying to stay within a workable calorie level but it has been been hard with the cancer diagnosis and the emotional up and downs. I find if I record what I eat I do better.
Phoebe the kitten sounds cute. Hope it finds it's way home.
I know I've missed people and I am sorry. Hope everyone has a great weekend

Well...[img][/img]
Another weekend, another rainy outlook here in Sunny Florida!!! Our "lake" is finally almost filled up to the top! NICE!
MARIE: "Another sucessful day # 5 i think.Getting this way of eating down pretty good"; I'd say you're doing terrifically well, sis!:drinker:
BARBIE...your line dancing sounds right back to normal...EXHAUSTING for me to even think about! ...And wonderful the animals adjusted so well to your lovely new home!
JACKIE: delightful post, as usual. And you said "We've had so many wasps flying around the past week or so"...I just read an article about the much larger than normal wasp invasion this past few weeks,...all coupling like mad, too! :noway:
PHOEBE, it must have been difficult to turn the kitty out, but how on earth could you have done otherwise with your schedule? It's so nice to see you on here more often again! Miss you when you aren't here
SANDY, don't know how you ever could gain a pound with your busy life, so go ahead and post the loss! And sorry to hear about DH's vertigo diagnosis. Not an easy thing to deal with, and I hope the hearing aids are acceptable to him. Hearing is very different with the aids, and things can sound tinny unless you have a really good provider who takes the time to adjust them until they sound right in all conditions. I use only 3 different programs in my aids, and I am finally used to the sounds. I was not able to get the ones that fit INTO the ear, as my canals are too narrow, but the over the ear ones work beautifully for me. My elbow hasn't healed and will take time, but I found the THERMACARE elbow and knee wraps really help provide heat which should help heal in time. Thanks for the good wishes.
JERI..."it has been been hard with the cancer diagnosis and the emotional up and downs"...I doubt I could handle those moments as well as you have been dealing with them, and I would say those of us who have not been through what you are going through can only imagine the difficulty , having watched my DS cope with the emotions. We cannot really appreciate your upheavals in the same way, but we are here for you in any way you want the support of people who have come to feel your goodness! And your talents are a true blessing for ALL of us! We just keep hoping hard all will turn out just fine! :flowerforyou:

Good afternoon, my friends! Time goes so quickly in the summer. We have been enjoying the annual 'Folkfest' the past couple of days and again later today. Of course we eat something at each country's pavilion. I think I did quite well or at least better than most years! We haven't decided if we are going tonight or not. Neil was with us and had a great time. Tonight he is going to a wrestling event ( ugh). Judgemental, I know! We got a nice rain yesterday whic seems to make the birds happier as they search for worms.
It took me quite awhile to get up to date on your posts. It is a busy board, indeed. Glad you are all having a goid summer. I am happy that you are feeling goid again, Marie.
Enjoy the reunion, Phoebe.
Nice to see posts from Barbie and Jake. A move is such hard work.
Thinking of you all. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Gayla good to hear from you. Sounds like you have a busy weekend. with the festival. NEILmust be doing fine. so glad.
Jackie no worry about us stealing one of your chickens for Jerry refuse to dress one. He bought a hen from a neiger one year and dress it and he said never again.
Jeri you done it again another excellant shot. Love it just love it. I will have to take pictures of our yard but there is no beauty at all. all just aout dry up. it cant take these continus days of over 100 degree. I think we are on our 47 day of 100+ They say we may have some reliefnext weekend. It was again 107 degrees today. 105 tomorrow.
Buzz you are getting so good at these graphe They are adorable just adored them.

   aren't we all funny about what we eat and don't eat:laugh:  a friend of mine once tried to serve rabbit for Easter dinner and her husband refused to eat it because he couldn't possibly eat the Easter bunny.
:flowerforyou: Jackie, I never liked wasps and now that I know that they are harmful to bees, I like them even less.
:flowerforyou: Marie, you could write a book with all you know about so many different eating plans. I love your gold stars
:flowerforyou: Phoebe, your story about the lost kitten makes me even happier about our decision to make Bernie an indoor cat.....there are so many things that can happen to cats outdoors
 Sandy, I'll take some pictures if we ever find the camera  the dogs haven't had a fenced yard before and they are loving this one........we have to stay with them, if I go into the house to get something, they wait at the door, and if we sit on the patio, they come up and sit with us:laugh: I agree that if someone hasn't posted in a month, we should take them off the birthday list, we can always add them again. Jake has some great hearing aids and he says that they changed his life.....they were expensive but worth it.
:flowerforyou: Jeri, our new house feels like home and is pretty well organized already, but there is still a lot of stuff in storage so the job is far from over........today Jake got the garage organized so we can put both cars in
 Buzz, there are several women in my line dance classes who are your age.....if you lived near me I'd invite you to come to class and you'd surprise yourself about how you'd enjoy it.
 Gayla, I don't care for wresting either, but it's good to hear that Neil has many interests.
   today was the hottest day so far  78 degrees   :bigsmile:0 -
Hi, I am hoping to join in with this group at Barbie's suggestion. I just started MFP this week. Doing OK with my food, but need a kick in the pants to exercise. Had to stop water aerobics until my dog bite heals up.
Ellen0 -
Welcome Ellen!! We love when new people join us and hope you give us a chance to know you as you learn about us.
I myself, am 69 years young, second marriage, mother of four and step mother of two. Between us we have six grandchildren and one great Old English Sheepdog who is the love our our lives.
We have such great people from all over the world. We share our ups and downs, give total support to each other and listen to what ever is on your mind. We hope you enjoy our little group and we wish you luck with your weight loss journey.0 -
I've been working hard all day getting ready to go camping. Time to go to bed but I thought I'd post this joke first.
Two hillbillies are having lunch when a woman seated nearby begins to choke. Hillbilly asks her,"kin ya swallar?" The woman shakes her head no. Hillbilly asks her "kin ya breathe?" Woman shakes her head no. Hillbilly walks over, lifts up her dress, yanks down britches and licks her butt cheek. The woman has a violent spasm and spits out food. The hillbillies' buddy says "ya know,I heerd of that there hind lick maneuver but I aint niver seed nobody do it".....
Marie - once again thanks for the nice words about my photos. I'm afraid our yard is starting to look a little sad right now. Hopefully when we are camping I'll get some good shot.
Buzz - thank you for your kind words. That give me comfort and I appreciate that you care.
Barbie - I'm glad things are coming together. It will be great once you have it all done. You'll be able to sit down and put your feet up and relax after a job well done.
Ellen - welcome to the group. It's a fun place to hang out.0 -
Please check the birthday list to see if you are there, I know Becky isn't so please let us know your birhday. If others that haven't checked in for a long time are on the list let me know so I can delete them.0

Hello ladies,
Been working hard, reading and running after our newest addition Ben. Keeping to the fasting and it is going well. Calories have bounced between the 900's and 1800's. Breads and olive oil, add the highest calories that jack the intake well up. Breads are important tho, must keep the B vitamins in good supply. Have not hit the gym in a regular fashion just yet, felt a bit weak on the first few trys, so I though it would be best to give my body more time to adjust. Seeing the littlest dip this week is giving me the feeling I should get busy in there though.
Hope all is well here, I have had a full week of work, and with our new yellow lab Ben we have not stopped. Housekeeping at this point is a going concern. The cats have accepted Ben well. They do not bother with him unless he feels the need to have a tug of war with their tails. No claws or violent tempers have been shown so I think he will be okay with them. Ben seems to understand when they are not pleased with him, Buttons too will give him a good talking to. Training is going well Ben is responding to it very well. For a two month old I give him a lot of credit.
Keep up the good work ladies, our goals are important. Not just for us but for all who love us.
Marilyn0 -
Welcome Ellen, So glad to see you here. We are honer to have you join us.
Where are you from?
When is your birthday?
Do you have any pets?
These are some of the questions you will be asked so we might as well start now. Just kidding.
My name is Marie and I am one of the oldest of he bunch. Old enough to know better than put on all of this weight. But Here I am . I will never give up NEVER! I see from your profile you have lost over 70lbs. What a fabulouse journey you had thru WW. I reach goal thru them back in 1969 It was much simple then and being younger made it easier too.
Anyway glad you join us.
Marilyn glad to see you again. Seems like you fasting diet is working for you. I try it but it did not work for me.
Jeri have fun on your camping trip.
everybody else have a wonderful day.
Marie0 -
[img][/img]
So here we are again, and all seems well. I really blew my sodium yesterday (with today eating the other half, too), but I was dying for a hot pastrami sandwich, which I haven't tasted in years! It was delicious, and I'll wait another 10 years before I do THAT again!
ANd I'm planning to get back to my fitness center tomorrow, as the darn elbow seems to be taking forever to heal, and I can't let the rest of me atrophy, too:ohwell:
GAYLA, always good to see you again. I must also be judgemental as wrestling really turns me off, too!:grumble: But nice Neil spends time with you and has his own life, as well!
MARIE, my heart bleeds for you this summer with such dreadful heat! Don't know how you endure it, but you always sound so cheerful :flowerforyou:
BARBIE: That would be such fun, to attend line dancing with you! I may surprise you one day as I've a dear friend begging us to visit not far from you; in fact, they almost moved to your town! I agree with Jake about hearing aids being worth the cost, but I don't fool myself about getting accustomed to diiferences in sound quality. I finally almost am unaware of it, though, and no longer missing most of the conversations! I love the picture (in my mind), of the poodles sitting with you outdoors; they really think they are people rather than dogs, don't they?
ELLEN: [img][/img]
Delighted BARBIE recommended us, and hope you get us acquainted with you, and vice-versa! MARIE was the elder here until I stole that honor and made her my "kid sister" by default. At 84, this group has given me new life and different outlooks and much support, and everyone here becomes like family. I have been married since 1977 to my 3rd husband, and there are 6 kids (adults!)
and 8 grandchildren (adults!) between us! Mike is slim at 87 and I struggle with weight, but opposites attract in many ways!
SANDY, I just realized you will be joining CONNIE on your next birthday! It's so freeing to reach that age! And you look about 1/2 your years :drinker: , so it's a double wonder!
JERI, hope the camping trip is fun! Your joke was short, sweet, and to the point, and I giggled at the punch line!
MARILYN: glad you have posted again, but I realize you are one busy gal! I think I don't quitw catch onto you diet plan and am a trifle confused, though I think at one point you explained it. COuld you give us a reference to research it? Glad Ben is being accepted graciously, finally! Lucky Lab!!!
Brings me to the end of my leisure, as DH is hungry---again! Have a lovely evening, y'all!
Buzz0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: welcome, Ellen, you have joined a great group of supportive friends. If you have already lost a lot of weight then you have a lot to share with us. I found that my new lifestyle is something I have to maintain one day at a time. Going back to old behaviors will only bring me heartbreak.
I have been on MFP since February 2009 and except for a few times when I have been without internet access, I have logged on every day and posted my food and exercise. MFP and Isagenix and exercise were the major players in my weight loss success. A great deal of my exercise comes from walking my poodles. We take a walk for about an hour in the morning and go to the off leash dog park later in the day.......they play off leash and I walk around and watch them play. I started line dancing six years ago and now I go to classes three mornings a week.   the love of my life, Jake, and I have been married for 22 years (my second marriage, his fourth). He posts on this thread sometimes (usually great jokes). We just sold our house with a big yard and moved to a bigger house with a small yard and no grass to cut in a 55+ park. The move was a week ago so we are still surrounded by boxes  We live in NW Washington where the weather is fabulous:bigsmile:
 Buzz, a pastrami sandwich sounds fabulous. I haven't had one in years be sure to let me know if you make a trip up here, I'd love to spend some time with you.
 today was another warm and busy day full of dog walking and unpacking of boxes......now we are relaxing in front of our newly installed cable TV.
 the king size bed was perfect last night when it was so hot.......all the animals could be in bed with us and not snuggle to close and overheat us
:flowerforyou: Jeri, thanks for sharing the great joke
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Marilyn, how wonderful to hear about your puppy.......the cats will keep him in line.....cats like to be the boss:laugh:  I'm glad to hear that your new fasting plan is working for you:bigsmile:
:flowerforyou:0 -
:flowerforyou: Ellen, a big WELCOME to you. To let you know a bit about me...I am 60 as of last January. I have been married for six years to my second husband. I had eight children with my first. I have 10 grandchildren. I, also know how hard it is to lose at our ages. Bummer :grumble: But, we can do it !!!
I have not replied here for the past few days. Actually, the entire weekend. I know that I am behind on reading and will have to catch up later.
Speaking of dogs....my oldest son has always had Great Danes. His last one died a few months ago and they got a new one the other day. She is all black and weighs 125. WOW !!!0 -
Welcome Ellen!
I am kind of new to this group. I am 62 years old and live in Ontario, Canada.
I have two daughters 28 and 30. One married one not as yet.
No grandchildren.
These ladies are great and very supportive. You will have a great time reading
all their posts. Everyone is doing something new all the time.
We just purchased a new/old sailboat and have been enjoying it all summer.
We were out Saturday and Sunday again. We are getting our use of the boat.
Have a great day ladies.
>>>Give from your heart>>>0 -
I have two for you this morning: Hope they make you smile!!
Lee Trevino - a true story
One day, shortly after joining the PGA tour in 1965, Lee Trevino, a professional golfer and married man, was at his home in Dallas, Texas mowing his front lawn, as he always did.
A lady driving by in a big, shiny Cadillac stopped in
front of his house, lowered the window and asked,
"Excuse me, do you speak English ?"
Lee responded, "Yes M'aam, I do"
The lady then asked, "What do you charge to do yard work?"
Lee said, "Well, the lady in this house lets me sleep with her".
The lady hurriedly put the car into gear and sped off.
