Today is the last day of the year 2018, and tomorrow will be a fresh start.
A fresh year. 2019. A new beginning
A fresh year where we can strive to work on the unhealthy habits we want to change, and replace those habits with healthy, lifestyle changing habits.
They say it takes 21 days to set a new habit. This is a thread to set daily goals that you would like to attain, and to try and change those old habits into good habits. We do this ONE DAY AT A TIME, hence the name, JUST FOR TODAY.
Each day, come on here, post your goals, and then the next day, report back --- tell us how you did, and list again the goals for that day ... you know, be accountable. Your goals can be very simple ... like drinking 8 glasses of water, or use this as a to-do list to improve your life in other ways (like mediation, using a calm app, etc.) This thread is kinda like a weight watcher meeting ... it is all about being accountable, and not giving up. I also plan to post my weight each week .... to be truly accountable.
This is not a group, so anyone is welcome to join me. But remember ... it only works if you keep coming back, no matter what kind of day you have had. It is work to change habits, and it takes time, and daily commitment. And it is even harder when our day did not go as planned.
This is when this thread is so wonderful.... because of the support, motivation, encouragement, and friendships.

Yes please! My goal for today is to stick to the shake program (doing shakes for first 3 weeks) and to exercise for 30 minutes! Love this thread!7

Great idea! My goal for today is to recognise when I'm full and stopping before I feel gross. So far doing okay. I know there's still chocolate around but remembering I don't feel that awesome when I eat more than a few pieces10

Tomorrow my goal is to have at least 3 different types of fresh fruit and only drink water (as well as my morning berocca)9

Today I will:
Eat 5 portions of fruit and veg
Drink enough water
Accurately log food and drink, unlikely to be in the green as I have a special lunch with family and friends
Plan healthy food for tomorrow so that I can stay in the green
Get to bed on time and set a morning alarm so that I can get back on track with my fitness goals.

Happy New Year everyone and to the newcomers
I'm 26, live in the UK and have 3 girls aged 4, 2 and 9 months. I'm hoping to I'm GOING to lose 30lbs to be at my first predicted goal weight, I'll have to see how I feel when I get there and whether I'm happy with my size.
So my general New Year Goals are:
- Lose 30lbs
- Be consistent and disciplined
- Exercise a minimum of 3 times a week
- Move house
- Learn something new
- Get a household routine that works
- Start a self employed business
So, Day 1, let's jump right in:
- 6 to 8 glasses of water
- Log my food... time to get the scales out!
- Weigh myself
- Be in the green
Hey everyone, just a tip for the thread!
"Being in the green" refers to your net calories, you know how its green but turns red when you eat too many calories.
it was formed when we realised our own language can have a negative impact at times ("Be within my calorie limit" sounds restrictive because you have a 'limit')
so I hope that makes sense, also the Woo button is interpreted as Woohoo! so positive again24 -
Day1 - I'm keeping it simple. Log it all!
I'd like to stay in the green, but we'll see. I just changed my weight loss goal. It is always a bit of fun the first few days figuring out how much and what time to eat to stave of the hangry mom that can easily appear.6 -
I’m in! I’ve lost around 80 pounds (after foot injury/surgery) but still want to try for at least another 40 this year. My goal for today is to log all my food.4

So I hit all my goals yesterday but they belong in the previous year and thread so starting today...
Goals for Tuesday
- Portion and freeze batch cooked meals
- Finish cleaning
- Laundry
- Morning jog with the kids
- Afternoon visit to parents
- 2ltr water
- Log all food and stay in calorie goal
- Re read 2019 goals - stay mindful
- Early night

Good Morning - I have 3 solid goals for today. One is to walk 30-60 min catching Pokemon. Another is to make my first run of the New Year. And my last is to eat high protein / low junk carbs meals. My husband is making a special baked good today - and I'll allow myself to have a small portion - even tho I affectionately consider it junk carb.
I have other more fluid goals - those are things I want to do - but might not get the chance. And, those are reorganizing things and learning about Herbs.10 -
Good Morning and Happy New Year
Well 2018 has come and gone and I feel like overall it was a pretty good year. I hadn’t set only goals or resolutions at the first of the year but by February had decided to start losing weight. When I first bought my scale at the end of February I was up to 202 lbs. it was probably a little higher than that as I started losing before weighing. Today my weight is up a bit 179.2, but my weight in MFP still says 177.4, giving me a total of 24 pounds lost in the year. I think I’m around 19” lost too. I have this in an excel sheet but don’t have it handy right now.
I learned how to swim, started a job that took me out of my comfort zone and forced me to sell. Had an amazing 50th birthday and truly believe that my Gratitude Journal, Daily Prayers and JFT helped me be successful!
All in all a good year.
2019 I am going to continue posting my goals each day, find a new job, get debt under control along with continuing weight the loss. My Baby gets married in July! I have things to look forward to already.

Do not disappoint myself, be conscious of my choices.
Yesterday I got the craft room clean and actually made a project in there last evening. Just something small to play with my Cricut a bit.
Today I was hoping to go get groceries, pay a couple bills but my EI is not there again. I will have to call them tomorrow. I am keeping Michaela while Lauryn is at work and Jonah, his Dad and Jonah go to their movie. This date was one of Jonah’s presents from us.

I am the "oldie" of the group. I am 67 years old and live in Missouri. I love to garden and sew (mostly quilts). I still work out of my home, so food is always a temptation. I am an emotional eater, which is a constant struggle for me. Something I hope to learn how to handle better this new year.
I am 5'11" tall.
Current starting weight, Jan 1, 2019: 206.0
1st goal weight: 190
2nd goal weight:180
Ultimate, final goal weight: 165-170
Goals for 2019:
1. reach my goal weight of 170
2. learn how to manage stress/emotional eating
3. keep up a gratitude journal everyday
4. consistently learn and be better at planning meals for the week .... make this a regular thing to do
5. consistently continue with exercising 5x a week
6. make drinking water a daily habit ... not something I have to work at.
Goals for today,
JFT, Tuesday, Jan 1
1. log all my food -- stay within 1300 calories
2. concentrate on water. 8+ glasses
3. look up and find some go-to recipes for days
4. 5 servings of fruits and veggies13 -

Haha I like this, but remember it's okay if you do! just do a little bit better tomorrow, even if its one extra glass of water or 100 extra steps

Amd I’m continuing with my little pamper me of moisturise at night just before bed my hands and feet. It’s a little treat, it’s sitting out my rough skin and it gives me one success I can do right at end of day even if failed in all others 😍8 -

Today I will walk for at least 30min. I did a lot of walking yesterday so gonna take it easier today. I'll also drink more water. Definitely didn't get enough yesterday! And I forgot to track what I did.. which I really should be better about. I'll also consciously sit/stand up straighter. My disc doesn't hurt so much if I have good posture.2

I'm in again
This year, I AM going to reach my goal weight and I AM going to maintain it. I only have about 12 pounds to lose, this is very achievable!
For the newbies: I'm 32, live with my boyfriend near London, work in London at a job that I want to leave (and hopefully will manage to do so within the first half of the year!). In my free time I exercise, read and am learning French (my boyfriend is French and I'm studying for a qualification). My weakness is social eating and drinking - my normal diet is fairly good but I socialise quite a bit and am not good at reining myself in when I do so end up consuming a lot of calories! This year, I need to get to grips with living in moderation and prioritise my health more. I'm fairly young now but am probably not doing my body any favours with my lifestyle and it'll probably catch up with me in time.
Today has been a total write off - last night was a fairly heavy one - so I'm not setting goals today but I will be starting fresh tomorrow3 -
Hoping this will be ok with the group. I'm going to jot a goal for the next day and report in every evening. That and using the stairs at work throughout the day tomorrow are my goals for tomorrow.3

OK, confession time... I have gained all of the weight back that I lost 1 1/2 years ago, most of it in the past 4 months while going through some family crises. I am bummed about it buy I'm also determined to get back on track.
1) stick to calorie goal
2) keep Macros in check
3) drink enough water
4) take daily supplements
5) Cardio for 30 min, 3x week
6) weight training for 30 min, 4x week4 -
