I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40, thanks @GrandmaJackie. My average loss/gain since Round 40 to 63 is a 0.5lb loss each round. This was better than I expected!
Start Weight Feb 2018 - 202
Next Goal - 170 I will get there, hopefully soon
Goal Weight July 2019 - 140
Round 60 - SW - 178.8 - EW - 180.0 - Average weight over 10 Days - 179.3
Round 61 - SW - 178.6 - EW - 178.2 - Average weight over 10 days - 178.5
Round 62 - SW - 179.0 - EW - 178.0 - Average weight over 10 days - 178.8
Round 63 - SW - 178 - EW - 180.0 - Average weight over 10 Days - 180.0

01/03 - 181.2 - I don’t know why it’s up today. Yesterday was a pretty healthy eating day really and I exercised.
01/04 182.0 - has another good day yesterday except for sodium. I know a lot of this is water weight as my fingers are swollen. I’ll drink more water today.
01/05 - 182.2 ugh
01/06 - 181
01/07 - 182.4
01/08 - 181.2
01/09 - 181.4 - I am so disappointed with myself for this round. I am finding it hard not grazing since I am home and not working. I was going out daily, but yesterday our car died on me while I was out and that’s not helping financially at all.
01/10 - 182.0
01/11- 179.6 - Well this would be nice to see again tomorrow.
01/1215 -
I’m back! Starting something I’ve never done before- intermittent fasting 16/8. I’m hopeful that this can be a lifestyle change which will help me to stop late night eating and it will also help with crazy mornings with the family since I won’t need to eat until 11am and of course lose weight in the process. I don’t want to drastically change the type of food I eat right now (I generally eat on the healthier side, but no interest in food prepping and cooking different meals for me and the family) but will be cutting down on sugar for sure.

Round 64, my 1st!
45 female, 5'5"
Day/Weight/Comment
01/03 - 171.0 - Up a little from the past few days, but going down from holiday weight gain.
01/04 - 169.6 - Eating at calorie goal and working out! I feel really good. Almost back to my pre-holiday weight.
01/05 - 169.4 - Same as yesterday....eating at calories and exercising every day and best of all, feeling fantastic!
01/06 - 169.0 - Yesterday was packed full of fitness! Roller skated for 2 hours, hiked 4.5 miles and did a five minute plank! Under calorie goal, but didn't make the best food choices.
01/07 - 168.8 - Eating a little below calorie goal and working out every day. Yesterday I walked my dog, planked, and did day three of a twenty five day plank challenge.
01/08 - 168.2 This challenge has been a huge motivator for me to eat healthy and exercise! I've been on track since the new year and am super stoked with the results. Only .2 pounds from my end of 10 day goal!
01/09 - 170.0 - Ran a 5k run after work yesterday, felt strong, especially after struggling all last year with injuries. I feel like I'm finally healed and can run again. Went out to dinner for Mexican food last night and brought home half my dinner as leftovers. I figured I'd be heavier this AM despite being a little under my calorie goal.
01/10 - 170.0 Hoping this goes down tomorrow, eating at or under calories and exercising. Fingers crossed!
01/11- 167.8!!! I met my end of round goal with an extra .2 loss! Walked 3 miles yesterday, ate a little under calories, and completed day 7 of my squat challenge. 👍
01/12
10 day goal: 168
May 17th goal weight: 145
January 2019 goals:
1. Walk my dog every day (minus the week I'll be in Vegas on vacation)
2. Run 3x a week (again, minus the week I'll be in Vegas on vacation)
3. Total of 60 miles running, walking, & hiking for the month
4. Lose 5 pounds

01/03: 184.6 - down .2 - I’ll take it!
01/04: 184.0 - took my 13 y/o downtown and went out to lunch. I was worried because I had some French fries but we walked about 4-5 miles downtown and enjoyed the day. Happy for the loss!
01/05: DNW - totally forgot until after lunch!
01/06: 185.4 - UGH - so frustrated with myself! Too much wine and not enough movement. I go back to work tomorrow so that structure will definitely help!
01/07: 184.6 - ok - trending down and back to work!
01/08: 184.8 - not sure what happened. Under calories and no wine last night but we didn't eat dinner until almost 9 and weighed at 5:30 a.m. - maybe that's it.

01/11: 183.6 - well looks like I won’t make my goal this round - but it was quite ambitious. Slept in this morning but have my gym bag with me to stop by on the way home from work.

Ok yall I'm just gonna jump in here and ride the NY inspiration! I have been weighing at home this past week but I need more accountability and to get back in the habit. It's not pretty but it's reality and I gotta reign in this runaway train! I know the BF % (Tanita scale) is not that accurate, but it helps me judge how dehydrated I am and helps me to understand the overall picture so I just write it down.
Day/Weight/Comment
01/03 187.8 BF 41.7%
01/04 186.8 BF 41.8%
01/05 187.0 BF 41.8%
01/06 187.8 BF 42.0%
01/07 189.2 BF 41.7% not happy about this number rearing its ugly head. I think theres some hormonal action happening so the plan for today is to drink all the water and stick to my eating plan.
01/08 187.8 BF 41.7% Mostly stuck to my plan except I had a glass of wine close to bedtime. I guess tomorrow will be more telling as to what's going on. Getting ready to go write my plan for today!
01/09 187.0 BF 41.7% no sugar today. had an aperol spritz (mini cocktail) after supper though.
01/10 187.0 BF 42.4% no sugar today, AND no alcohol. drank all my water and went to dance tonight. lifted this AM though and that always stalls the scale so I have no guess as to what the scale will say tomorrow, I would really like to see a downward trend!
01/11 185.7 BF 42.7% Ok this is good progress! I think drinking my water is helping. I have been eating healthy and not snacking but I need to get more consistent with measuring so I can keep on rolling. One more day left of this challenge, I think overall has been very successful

My goals this round- get to 170. Drink lots of water and make exercise a priority.
Current weight-177 After a heavy lunch yesterday, followed by dinner.
1/3-No Scale
1/4-174 A good swoosh down after heavy eating.
1/5-No Scale
1/6-No Scale
1/7-175 I tried to eat good over the weekend away. It’s good to be home and back into 2 walks a day while packing the house.
1/8-175 Again. I waited too long to eat yesterday and didn’t eat healthy. For me, I need protein, and I don’t crave crap.
1/9-173 Finally. I go to quilt with my friend today and we usually eat healthy.
1/10-No Scale, but I did make good choices eating out with my uncle after we took care of my aunt (mom’s sister).
1/11-172-Wise eating, lots of water and bits of exercise here and there while I pack moving boxes.

It is wonderful to have all of you here!!!!

25th Round for me: Female 65, height 5’
This round is turning out to be a real struggle but feel like I’m doing some good work getting started on things I should have done a long time ago. That means working through things, which in the short term is stressful (more likely to overeat) but in the long term will be beneficial – therefore help my weight loss. So right now am “walking through the swamp.” Thanks to FarmerCarla for link: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/The_Movie_Chair/view/walk-through-the-swamp-959755Round 39 (1st for me) – SW 163, -.2Round 64 – 161.6

Goal this round: to at least see some 159s. I was down here in Oct. and having so much trouble getting back there. Right now even ½ lb. per round would seem great. My short term goal is to be down at least 6 lb. by the end of March. That is just .7/Round but for me would be great progress.
Ultimate Goal Weight – 128; Hoping to be under 140 by end of June.
Day/Weight/Comment
01/03 – 162.2 - Did not post as I had not got around to setting up this Round. I did weigh though.
01/04 – 163.6 – Yesterday started out great but ended in disaster with RJ’s chocolate licorice twists. Thurs. I have knitting group in the morning which is always fun but get groceries in the afternoon which I never feel like doing … and then I buy something for a treat “now & then” only it often ends up being now. The other part of the disaster was that I had determined to do some planning, but I don’t feel like doing it. Well, I’m going to start on it today anyhow, whether my childish self feels like it or not.
01/05 – 164.4 – Scale was determined to say this although it seems odd. Thursday I was probably 450 calories over but the rest of the week has been good. No gym yesterday but calories were good. Today I have no car but doing exercises at home and also have to clean house so a more active day.
01/06 – 164.4 – Not so great yesterday but did log all. Determined to log all for the next 3 months. I tend to get slack with the evening meal and just make a rough guess – usually too kind to myself but sometimes I think I’m way over and actually I’m not.
01/07 – 163.6 – Much better! This round has been a scary blip back to what life used to always be – emotional eating in the evening and feeling draggy and bloated in the morning. I don’t ever, ever want that life again. Was listening to something by Jordan Peterson (clinical psychologist) and he said that in tests they’ve found that fear is a greater motivator than reward. If you think about it, it’s true – how many of us are here because we got a “good scare”? Sometimes it’s good to take a hard look at where you are going if you don’t change.
01/08 – 162.4 – Good day at the gym yesterday and logged all. Ate back only 50 cals. of exercise. My daily limit is 1200 which is enough for me to feel satisfied IF I get enough protein and a reasonable amount of fat. Because I’m so short, fine boned and sedentary plus being older I just don’t burn very many cals. Working to up the exercise on non-gym days.
01/09 – 162.4 – Gym today, thought I had no car but hubby took the bus so now have no excuse! Also got up ½ hr earlier. Somehow that extra time in the morning is often what makes or breaks the day. Yesterday got up a bit later (8:00) and then got a loooong phone call from daughter that I hadn’t heard from since before Christmas … all great but with the late start, exercising went out the window.
01/10 – 163.4 – Good day at the gym yesterday, pushed harder and had a time limit so a little sore today. Also had a supper with a lot of soy sauce … so, water retention? just a random blip back up? Anyhow, motivation to get some exercise in on my day which will be mostly writing on the computer and weaving in ends on my knitting. Not fun projects but it will feel good to have them done. Have a great day everyone!
01/11 – 163 – Didn’t make a lot of progress with the writing yesterday but got started and did keep the calories good. No real exercise. Gym again this morning.

Day/Weight/Comment
01/03 - 150 (-0.4 from yesterday, -0.4 from round start) Woot! I did great on water and though we got pressed for time and ended up eating out last night, we did Chipotle. And I saved half for leftover lunch for the next day (today). Allowing myself a total laze about day today. Tomorrow - elliptical, here I come. Hoping to keep the downward trend, though ToM is looming and so we'll see. (It usually means a short bump up, or at least harder fight for a loss, for a few days.)
01/04 - 150 (-0.0 from yesterday, -0.4 from round start) Did well on water and on food yesterday, and so far today too. Also got a 25 minute walk in this afternoon. Hopefully this will bode well for tomorrow's number.
01/05 - 149.6 (-0.4 from yesterday, -0.8 from round start) Woohoo! Although today is my youngest's birthday, so I'm sure it won't be as good food-wise. It's gorgeous outside though, so I'm sure we'll spend time outdoors & active.
01/06 - 150.0 (+0.4 from yesterday, -0.4 from round start) Did get to spend about an hour yesterday outside, chasing the kid around on the playground. So not dedicated exercise, but definitely activity. ToM did arrive though, so between that and a little splurge due to birthday celebration, I'm not surprised to see a hop up. Pretty encouraged that it's small.
01/07 - 149.6 (-0.4 from yesterday, -0.8 from round start) Ahh, right back down after birthday shenanigans are done.
01/08 - 149.2 (-0.4 from yesterday, -1.2 from round start) Did good food & water-wise yesterday, but it was a pretty lazy day so I'm still surprised to see it continue to go down.
01/09 - 148.6 (-0.6 from yesterday, -1.8 from round start) Um, what? I weighed myself twice, picked up the scale & resettled it in a different spot and tried again. Same weight. I mean, not complaining.. LOL.. just didn't expect it. Nabbing fast food tonight. I'll budget for it calorie-wise, but still expecting a bounce back tomorrow.
01/10 - 148.2 (-0.4 from yesterday, -2.2 from round start) What is this wizardry? *hehe* I'm going to be buying new batteries just to be sure the scale's not losing it because of low battery. Otherwise, I guess things are just kicking in after having several weeks of hovering at 150.X?
01/11 - 149.0 (+0.8 from yesterday, -1.4 from round start) New batteries.. but also less water and more chips & chocolate yesterday. Still under 150, so I'm pretty stoked.

@back2cute - I completely understand the frustration of job hunting after 50. About 8 years ago, my husband was 53 and had been laid off from a job at a Fortune 500 company after 30+ years. He has a Bachelor's degree and exemplary references, his plant had simply shut down and we didn't want to relocate. It took him 18 months to find another job and he's still making less than half of what he used to earn. On the few interviews he had, they would mention they would prefer someone they could "mold." I wish you all the luck in finding a new job!6

@fraukazi I have a Garmin Vivofit 3. I never have to take it off except once a year to change the battery. Everyone I know seems to have issues with putting their Fitbit back on after charging (generally overnight) and with Garmin that isn’t an issue. It tracks my sleep and other activity besides steps. As @GrandmaJackie said you can even wear it in the pool. It will remember a phenomenal amount of data so it is great if you are not in an area with Wi-Fi.1

01/03 - Thursday - 177.4 - Man, its incredible how quickly things snowball! My holiday indulgences have done a number on my habits. I've got all these cravings and little desire to stick to my habits. I know this too shall pass but its currently an uphill battle. Fortunately this time, I know its not the beginning of the end, just another opportunity to hone my skills and habits and learn a little along the way. In past attempts, these stumbles were the end of my journey but not this time - its really a lifestlye change finally!!!
01/04 - Friday - 176.4 - A mildly better day yesterday. I ate fast food at lunch because I was on my own and didnt bring anything. Then I had more fast food for a snack. But I went for a power walk before I left work, and ate a light dinner and it all worked out. Baby steps. I did pack my lunch today, but minimal stuff in the house for food tonight - maybe an aldi shop tonight? Why is it so hard to remember how to eat in healthy moderation all of a sudden? Time to take a look back at my diary and refresh.
01/05 - Saturday - 175.8 - got to Aldi last night, love their pantry staples! Got a plan today to drink my smoothie, have salad for lunch and eat the proper portion size of whatever we decide on for dinner!
01/06 - Sunday - 176.6 - Weekends are still looking like a holiday celebration. Back to work and habits tomorrow!
01/07 - Monday - 176.8 - I went back and read my journal to see what I was doing differently to lose. It really wasnt all that different, I was just being consistent with my morning habits and lunches. So thats what I'm back to focusing on this week; smoothie and supplements for breakfast, pack my lunch, eat a 3PM snack and cook dinner at home. I was also doing 10 somethings (squats/lunges/wall push ups) every bathroom trip and 10 minutes of meditation daily, so working those habits back into the mix as well. The 170's have ALWAYS been like a brick wall to me though, for some reason it has been the end of my journey many many times, but I'm not letting it end me this time!
01/08 - Tuesday - 175.0 - Feeling really determined! Last night I thought I was still starving after dinner (3 scrambled eggs with cheese and 4 oz breakfast sausage) but I think it was just my greedy mind saying "It was a small amount!" So I drank a big glass of water, did some self care, and enjoyed my planned dessert and I was good! Nice to be rewarded with this little whoosh! I've committed myself to a "no-spend" week (except for fuel and bills of course) to give me a little extra accountability and incentive to cook my meals and use what we've got! So far so good - lunches packed today, dinner tonight is chicken and veggie stirfry, will also be lunches for tomorrow. Tomorrow evening will be spinach and feta chicken sausage with roasted potatoes and creamed spinach with parmesan. Thurs lunch will be ham sandwiches and dinner I'll thaw the chicken chili verde I froze last week - If i make it with rice it should be enough for lunches as well, if not I can do tuna sandwich and DH can have frozen burritos. I have a coupon for a free small cheese pizza that I need to use by Sunday, I'll save it for Saturday night after final weigh in and have it to look forward to as my 20% (food to enjoy!)
01/09 - Wednesday - 175.0 - Was kinda bummed to see the same number again but then I got a hold of myself! Continuing with the no spend week. Leftover stir fry for lunch and dinners planned. Feeling good about getting back in the swing of things. Need to plan Friday night dinner, something not super salty so I can see a nice loss this round and keep me motivated.
01/10 - Thursday - 174.8 - Ooooohhh I'm being tested today! Moe's wants me to get a $7 stack and free queso!!!! my favorite clothes store is sending me crazy deals, favorite band announced tour dates and I'm so tempted to get a hotel room NOW. But sticking to my guns on my no spend week. Having chili for dinner so that should cover my mexican food hankering. Work was very dumb yesterday - but @brightresolve gave me some inspiration to just change my attitude for a better day today, thanks!!! I prelogged my food, and its easier to stick to it when I can tell myself, "no deviating from the plan!"
01/11 - Friday - 174.0 - Helluva day already. Want to eat my feelings. Not gonna. Looking to maintain this number tomorrow. Happy friday!

@puttyputty Thank you. 1,106 days.
A lb every 2 weeks on average. My hope is by going slowly, and exercising daily, that I have retained more muscle & had more time to practicethe habits that will allow me to maintain!
3.2 lbs to go!
I’m the lowest I’ve weighed since 10th grade. All my labs are great. A miracle. 🙏🏻
