Happy 1 year @aFit50 that's great!! Super inspirational! I haven't accomplished a full year on this app yet but I am more confident I will because of this thread. Such a great example!7

@SarahG626 My cousin had weight loss surgery in April. I think she lost 15-30 lb. and loss has stopped. I try to encourage her, but it doesn't seem to help. Can you suggest ways I could help her?4

01/23🥂 *my 9 year anniversary with my hubby*🥂140.0 Wow, what a whoosh! I also saw 139.8 but didn't want to jinx it, so took the higher number. I will be honest, it might not stay. Today is my anniversary and my man is planning a night of activities so I might indulge. I will be exercising and I will try and eat healthy veggies and fruits but keep the higher end calories for tonight's dinner. It will be an NSV if I stay away from desert, which I am really worried about. My hubby told me I have been doing amazing and it is only one night but I am apprehensive because I am beginning to close the gap between the 40s and 30s and don't want to off set it....but he is right. I always jump back on again and it will just take a few extra days to get back to this weight, but I can do it.
01/24 142 I just love to force myself to really work for my losses lol. Last night was amazing, my hubby and I had a great time together, playing games, eating Chinese food and watching tv. It was so relaxing and I am so blessed to have him in my life. I am so happy I am with him and I don't know what I have ever done to deserve such an amazing human being. I am truly blessed. I know this uptick is from the salt from last night's dinner and I don't expect it to stay for long, I am actually surprised it wasn't more. I ate so much food, i literally hurt myself. Still feeling slightly bloated this morning too. But I did exercise good and drank a little over 1 liter of water. Hopefully I can undo most of this damage by tomorrow but I know it will take a couple of days to see if it really has come off.
01/25 141.2 there we go! Exercised good, stayed under calories and drank 2 liters of water. Tomorrow is my weigh in day for some MFP groups, so hoping today I can push out a little more for an over all impressive weight loss this week, regardless of Wednesday's meal. I hope this weekend isn't too tough on me. Family breakfast and then off to a friend's house for the hockey game... I will stay diligent!
01/26 142.6 a small bump. I did this to myself. Last night I tried so hard, I ate other, healthier options to stay way from the snacking but after what felt like forever, smelling the chips and stuff my hubby was eating, i finally gave in. I was so hungry all day and couldn't manage to get full. It was just one of those "powerful cravings not enough will power" type of days. I am still exercising and managed 2 liters of water. I made my peace.
01/27 no weigh in. I wasn't as hungry yesterday and was good all day up until dinner. Went over to a friend's house and I attempted to eat before hand to curb my appetite but it didn't end up working out. It's ok though. This morning my man woke me up and we grabbed some coffee and break fast together and I completely forgot to weigh in before hand. Just gives me another day to attempt to bring down my (almost) weeks worth of terrible eating. I am still exercising regularly so that is something. I can't help feeling super relaxed with my weight (a complete turn around from last week) but I think my excitement and drive to get out of this decade is beginning to return, so I hope that puts a new fire under my *kitten*. I will do this! I can do this!

01/26: 123.4 I need to keep in mind - "Just give me 10 days" next time I 'want' to eat candy instead of a real meal. Another poster mentioned something similar above, I have started to either feel I deserve to eat whatever I want or I am at an ok weight so therefore I can afford to eat poorly thinking it won't affect me too negatively. Or it could be something else entirely. I must stop doing it. Stop doing for the next 7 days would be a good start! I will.

@FarmerCarla I guess it depends on how she feels. My Mom had a horrible time with foods after her surgery and that slowed her down. I was back on a treadmill at 8-days post-op. I measured everything and did NOT cheat. No sugar. No fried foods. Plenty of exercise. It is 90% mental strength and endurance, in the beginning. I would be happy to further discuss. Day/Weight/Comment
01/23 ….. 187.1 ….. This thing we always hear about it being hard to lose weight in the winter…. Well, they ain’t kiddin’ folks! It’s not just the holidays! It’s being stuck in during these snow storms & much much more. I’m eating my stress & emotions for sure as I’m stuck inside during this current 10” of snow. Going out to shovel again in a minute-I do love it like some of the other gal so it will help. The inspector yesterday was very nice. He took a ton of pictures (some I cringe a bit on). The full report will come from the insurance company in the next couple of weeks. It will contain all the pics & what they expect me to take care of. We’re always talking lots of $$$$. And what can I do in this weather? Not paint. Not roofing. Not cement repair. Ugggg. Ridiculous. Why don’t they come in the spring? Anyhoo, no dancing yesterday. LNS last night with emotional & stress eating. I am going to work much harder today on my mindset and plan. Lots of dancing in the works! Best of luck to all on this wonderful new round!
01/24 ….. 186.8 ….. Yesterday was great. Right on plan. IF 18:6 Over six hours of sleep which is phenomental for me! 21 Net Carbs. 1062 Calories. 16,231 steps. 6.93 miles of activity. 13/13 steps hours on fitbit. I danced 53 minutes (my son danced 39 of them with me!) Sample song: Beautiful Loser by Bob Segar. I usually do 10 or 11 songs working my way up in tempo to my peak song then back down but all are dancing beats of some type. I do everything from the twist to the Carleton and look like a fool. Lots of arm movement for the bat wings. Speaking of bat wings, maybe I should try the funky chicken lol. And no, I haven’t learned the floss dance yet, but my son said he would teach me! Anyway, I realized today that I am going to have to change my ticker if I don’t get back to my pre-Christmas weight soon, and I don’t want to do that, so I add that to my goals. Tonight is the potluck at the Pool Hall. I haven’t been in about 5 or maybe 6 weeks due to time constraints. I will try not to make it a food frenzy. I will eat something healthy & within plan before I go. I deserve a night out, but I also deserve to keep my ticker, so that will stay first & foremost on my mind.
01/25 187.3 Pool Hall & potluck at the Moose went well last night. I was a bit over on carbs and calories but ate way less than my old days. No dancing yesterday but I did get in a 35 minute walk. IF 16:8. 10,193 steps total. 4.34 miles. 12/13 step hours. 2301 calories burned. 4 hours 30 minutes of sleep. Today I am “safe” back at home and will be on point with eating plan & exercise. I enjoyed last night but the “interested man” totally ignored me. I think he didn’t like that I hadn’t shown up in 5 or 6 weeks during all the holidays & then emergencies at my home & business. Oh, well. My life & time is my own for the first time in my life and I’m enjoying that major advantage. Right now I’m in a pretty good place with all of it. I do miss my husband, but I don’t get too lonely because I stay so busy. Also, I don’t miss the dating stuff so I am okay with it. I enjoyed my time with my friend and came home afterward & we watched an episode of “The marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on Amazon for a TV/movie night. We’ve been trying to have a TV/movie night a couple times a week since my livingroom remodel. It was relaxing & nice. Today, however, I will be flapping my (bat) wings again. Sometimes, if the songs get a bit fast for my fitness level, I find myself resorting to the twist. I just want to publicly thank Chubby Checker for all the years of entertainment and for the inspiration. Also for a dance that "fits in" when nothing else will. Also to Ann Margaret (and Elvis) for the Watusi. Sometimes it works too. I love hitting my peak level! Have a good day everyone. I'm off for my first set! Meghan Trainor, I’m comin’ for ya!
01/26 ….. 187.1….. 14 Net Carbs. 1365 Calories. I burned 2604 calories. 13,363 steps overall. 5.71 miles overall. 13/13 step hours on fitbit. Slept 4 hours 23 minutes which is typical. My awake/eating window is bigger than normal due to such little daily sleep so I keep it in check with 16:8 IF. I aerobic danced 53 minutes. One of the songs was “Give credit where credit is due” by Meghan Trainor. It had the right beat over some of her other songs I actually like better. I stayed on my eating plan & my macros were about perfect. I was very pleased with that since I fight to get in all my protein. Overall it was a strong day. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Happy MFP Anniversary to @aFit50 . You continue to do so well & you inspire us all!
01/27 …..186.9 ….. 12 Net Carbs. 1144 Calories. I burned 2549 Calories for the day. 13,155 steps overall. 5.58 miles overall. 13/13 step hours on fitbit. I slept an amazing 7 hours 57 minutes last night (which I haven’t done in years!) IF 16:8. I danced for 55 minutes. One of the songs was “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen. I danced in two different sets. My eating plan was fantastic all day, and my macros perfect. I am so thrilled to see so many folks getting into new decades this round. I’m not there yet but I’m working hard on it and have felt so wonderful these past few days! I hope my level of enthusiasm & dedication continues. Right now, in the words of Bruce himself, “I’m on Fire”. Watching your journeys helps a lot. If YOU can do it, then I can do it! Remember also, if I can do it then YOU can do it too. Supporting each other is a big tool in our toolbox and I’m feeling pretty handy right now. Hope your Sunday is going great!

This is too important not to share. I wanted to warn you all of
the dangers of using MFP and cooking with fresh garlic!
This is what MFP came up with for 3 cloves of garlic, raw:
Garlic, raw, Generic
Calories 1341 Total Fat 5 Total Carbs 298 Protein 57
Seems like a total no-no for anyone's diet!
Apparently, when cooking with garlic the trick is to smash it before using,
which releases the excess carbs and calories.
Once again, from MFP:
Generic - Garlic Clove, Smashed:
Calories 12 Total Fat 0 Total Carbs 3 Protein 1
LOL. Have a great evening/day everyone!12 -

Day/Weight/Comment
01/23 - 189 - Still fighting a cold but I am happy to say that I have reigned my cravings & portions back in. I am looking forward making some progress this round!
01/24 -187 - Finally seeing some results! My cravings for sugar are almost all gone at this point. The key is not to indulge because once I do it’s so hard to stop again.
01/25 - 186 - It’s so nice to see things moving in the right direction! I just have to continue drinking my water, watching my portions & avoiding sugar & carbs. I’m hoping to keep my focus through the “weakend”!
01/26 - 187 - Slight gain over yesterday’s weigh in & I’m quickly realizing it may be good to start tracking pounds & ounces as well. I’m not surprised by the gain since I indulged in some salted pistachios right before bed. Today will be better & I won’t be buying anymore pistachios! LOL
01/27 186.6 - Busy day & I just finally got around to posting this morning’s weigh in. The family & I had Chinese this afternoon so I’m expecting a small gain tomorrow morning. Otherwise the day was good - no carbs, no sugar.

OSW 88KG (-3.8kg) or {8.4lbs}
RSW 84.2kg
Goal... Less than I started!
Day/Weight/Comment
01/23 84.3kg not a great start but this is my 3rd week in Keto and everything I've read says it's normal and just keep going. Couldn't run this morning as it's been raining for 48 hours and everywhere is under water.
01/24 84.2kg and it stopped raining so I ran.
01/25 83.7kg and a short morning run. It's all green for go today!
01/26 83.2kg is working still. Staying green for calories and within my Keto macros. Will do the strength training today
01/27 83.0kg was sick last night so I went to bed at 6pm without dinner. No idea how this will affect future weight loss! But is officially 3 weeks today and I'm down 5kg (11 lbs) total.
01/28 83.7kg so that's the difference between eating and not! Ran 2.5km and stayed within my new macros yesterday

1/23: 235.0. 2250 calories. Walked for 90 minutes.

Also, I need to have my Son or Niece take a comparison photo of me. I just passed 1 year of IF now coming up on 1 year of keto in February. I guess I need to be good with the carbs. LOL. Honestly, IF and Keto work so well together for me, that I've been purposefully holding up my weightloss with eating carbs. I want my body to catch up, need to gain my muscle back. I told @MadisonMolly2017 that I feel bony. It might sound FANTASTIC! to lose weight so quickly, but it can be kind of scary. I have a pic of me from March 2018 holding my grandson. When I looked at it I was shocked. My face was so gaunt! I never noticed this looking in the mirror every day.
@tiabirdie56
Yes, it can be scary to lose that fast. I’m taking it slowly now myself...building muscle & actually developing other interests ...I realized a few months ago, I would need to ease up in my focus on weight loss as I got closer to my final goal, if that makes sense.
I haven’t looked gaunt yet, but I took a
L o n g time to lose ... on purpose. Hoping it would give my body time to adjust - and it has! And to give me time to master certain habits - so far, so good.
Do you think you’ll continue with IF & keto or modify your approach, going forward?

01/23 - 185lbs - up a little from yesterday. Not surprising as didn't poop yesterday (tmi sorry, but it definitely plays a part). Ate well and drank lots so expect a drop tomorrow
01/24 - 184lbs - yay! As I expected. Things are going in the right direction again. Ate well and drank lots yesterday
01/25 - 184lbs - I thought this would drop. I ate well yesterday, logged everything, drank plenty etc. But I am now full of cold and full of snot, so maybe I'm retaining water due to that? Who knows?!
01/26 - 183.4lbs - had a lovely lie in this morning, so a later weigh in. So don't quite tryst this until I see it for a second time. DH got up with DD at 6 so I could have a rest. Was well needed and appreciated. Now to start the day
01/27 - 183lbs - huh. It stuck! Well that's great!! Yay! Stuck to calories yesterday, but didn't drink enough for sure. Got plenty of steps in though. Today is swimming with DD and then to MILs house for the day
She's a great cook, but not the healthiest lol
01/28 - 182.8lbs - Wahoo! Feeling good about this. I stuck to calorie goal yesterday, and didn't go overboard at MILs! Official weekly weigh in day today and I am 3.4lbs down on last week. Wahoo! Also, my cold has cleared. So, yay! X

01/23 238.4 eating and exercise were good this morning. Have my couch to 5k W2 D3 run tonight. It’s freezing in London!
01/24 237.6 Finished my run last night at did 3.3 km. It may be running and walking but it makes me feel so good! Ate really well and feel like I have so much more energy! It must actually be quite annoying!
01/25 237.4 didn’t walk as much yesterday so this is expected. Going out for an annual get together with friends today and going to enjoy it and not worry about weight. Life is about balance after all. Happy Friday everyone!
01/26 239.8 went for my run. Then had a fabulous meal and drinks with friends. Am I surprised by how much the scale has gone up? Slightly. Do I regret it? Not for one second. Best food I’ve had in ages and the company was superb. I’m sure a lot of it is water weight and tomorrow will probably reflect that.
01/27 239.8 Hmph was expecting this to be lower but maybe my body is still recovering after all the drinks. Onwards and downwards
01/28 238.6 and woosh the salt must be out of my body and getting back to where i was. Ate well yesterday but can’t say much for my exercise apart from the run in the morning. Back to work today. For some reason I find it so much easier when I have a routine.

I was already 60.8 kg in December. I didn’t weight myself during the weekend. I don’t smoke already for 4 days. I just stopped without really planning this. I still have difficult times and I eat more and I am afraid to go onto the scale. But I will do this in a couple of days.6 -

01/23 58.6 kg Feeling good and excited to start this round. Completed a 30 min run this morning, and have all my meals packed at work and logged
01/24 57.9 kg The rest of yesterday was good; stayed within my calorie goal, had loads of water and went to bed early. This morning's weight is a big drop from yesterday, so I doubt it will stick around, but it is definitely motivation to stay on track today No run this morning but will try get to gym this afternoon. We are having dinner at my mil's which always causes some anxiety because her food is incredible but often buttered/crumbed/sauced/etc. Will try and be mindful of what I dish up.
01/25 57.7 kg Yesterday was good. Went to gym as planned and had a great upper body weight lifting session, plus ended up not going to the mil so had a small dinner at home. I am surprised to see the 57's sticking around but I expect that to change over the weekend as I find it almost impossible to stay on track when the week is over Also completed a 30 minute run this morning
01/26 57.9 kg I felt very peckish and hungry yesterday and had a late dinner of take-out and wine with hubby and his mom last night. Honestly thought I would see a bigger jump than just the .2 kg. I'll take it though! We ordered bulk groceries that will be delivered today and I am planning to do ALL of the meal prep as I watched a couple of great meal prep inspo videos I am keen to try out Also have a braai (almost like a bbq for anyone who doesn't know ) this evening with friends from Australia. Will try be mindful. Also rest day from gym today.
01/27 58.9 kg Couldn't login to comment but did weigh in.
01/28 59 kg This always happens on weekends and I am struggling so much to control it. While I didn't go completely overboard I ate a bunch of trigger foods for my IBS and the result is bloat and sadness. I was getting so excited about the 57's sticking around I ended up doing meal prep for a bunch of meals this week so hoping to end this round on a good note, and will, as always, try be better over the weekend. Weakend it is for sure!

01/23 - 61.8 kg (136.2 lbs.). A good starting point for the round. Did “six-pack in 6 weeks” with Jillian Michaels in the morning. I already logged by food for today. The result – 90kcal over the target value. We are planning a typical Bavarian dinner for my husband’s birthday tonight. Wondering about my weighing result for tomorrow.

So yesterday got slightly out of hand after some work frustrations. I asked a friend to come over for a glass of wine and we had a few glasses, snacks and stayed up waaaay too late. So i didn't have time for yoga this morning, but made time to pack health breakfast, lunch and snacks. I also packed my gym gear and will do at least 30mins of walking on the treadmill, there is no excuse not to do that - aim for what's achievable
This is my last week in the gym here, next week's evenings will be spend with DH and not the treadmill
Thu 01/24 71.4 (+0.6) yoga & treadmill run&walk (70mins, 50 running, 10km)
All my own fault, I was very hungry after that wine on Tue and had to work late after I got home, so of course I told myself I deserved snacks, which were left over from Tue.
shunggie, bethe238, afti50 and abowersgirl (links taken off) you know, last night, when I was guiltily enjoying my snacks and didn't log everything, I thought 'maybe this calorie counting just isn't for me. I've been doing it since May and don't have much to show for'. And then I read your posts and encouragement and realised that it is hard and if I hadn't been here, I probably would have gained more than I have lost, exercised less and just been annoyed with myself. So thank you for reminding me that it is worth it, however slowly. Your journeys are inspiring!
Fri 01/25 70.9 (-0.5) yoga
Alright, this is my last weekend that i'll be logging for about 3 weeks and I feel like it might not happen and that's ok. After the lovely comments I received, I had a talk with myself and realised a few things: Last time I spent 3 months in southern Africa, I gained around 10 kilos - I was 15 years younger. This time, I didn't gain anything apart from a wealth of experiences, new confidence in myself as a person and professionally, more love for my husband (this is the longest we've ever been apart), more appreciation for regular yoga practice and treadmill running, and many new low-medium recipes cooked very quickly with causing as little washing up as possible. I also met and reconnected with many lovely people, both in person and online.
Now, to my progress, I really need to change my eating patterns. It's not even that I'm very unhealthy, but I "spend" 500-700cals on snacks&fruit every day instead of proper meals. I love grazing throughout the day and then also at night. Basically, I could just eat snacks and no proper meals exclusively. I have changed chocolate bars and cookies (with some exceptions) for fruit, nuts, popcorn over the last year or so, but it's still too much, the cals add up so quickly. I don't know how to change my mindset that those snacks are a reward or fuel for "hard" work (desk work), but I'll keep trying. I've changed my goal to only 0.25kg loss per week to match my sedentary lifestyle here and am on 1510cals/day, but I mostly eat 1700-1900 in the week and probably more most weekends. That may explain my lack of proper downward progress, I should just admit that I'm currently in maintenance and accept that. Any exercise I do just ensures that I don't have serious gains and keep my mind balanced.
Wow, sorry for the long post, so many revelations and realisations this morning.
Sat 01/26 71.1 (+0.2) yoga done, treadmill planned
I had a snack feast last night and it was great! Skipped the gym, evening plans changed, so I stayed home with some work, wine, sweets and a few episodes.
bethe238 thank you. My husband will be here with me for 3 weeks and we'll be out most evenings next week and then on holiday (mostly safari lodges) for 2 weeks. Logging only guesstimates makes no sense to me for such a long time, so I rather jump back on the waggon afterwards.
Sun 01/27 dnw DH arrives (in the middle of night to Mon)
Today is the day! Well technically tomorrow morning, so I still have half a day to get through. No exercise or logging as i'm hung over after a fun night with drinks and dancing and great people til the small hours.
Still have to do some work once my brain gets back into working order. No regrets and I could not be happier to see my love again in around 12 hours.
No surprise, ate all the things yesterday, plus little sleep, the whole week actually. Anyway, DH is here, yay!!!! Diet isn't my main focus for this week and until the end of the round. Most important is that I finish my work this Friday. I'll weigh, but will not worry about the number. Oooh and I will be able to set up my fitbit tonight - just after reading an article that calorie estimates for walking are wrong by up to 50%
